I got out to Kroger, and back. My two expected deliveries have arrived. Lilo and I have eaten my Black Forest Ham with lace Swiss cheese sandwich (opened that spicy brown mustard!) for lunch, with a VERY small pile of chips. I need to check my glucose at 1:30 to see how much the chips spiked me, but the rest of the meal should be relatively low impact, considering the bread I used. Lilo approved of the ham and probably would have approved of the cheese, but she didn't get the chance.

After that, noise level permitting, a nap sounds lovely.

Howdy. It's terrific Tuesday! A bit cooler today with 80% chance of rain. If I want to pick blueberries, I need to get on out there soonish before the deluge.

They got about halfway across the yard yesterday with the ditch and it looks like they are trying to get as far as the driveway today, though weather may not allow actually doing the driveway today. I guess they will let me know if they plan to get to that today.

Good Morning! Tuesday! Rain surely is predicted....
Meeting Leslie (Niece and her two..my grand nephew and niece) for lunch at Sweet Tom's...have puzzles for the kids to mess with while Leslie and I chat. May stop at Pike's on the way home. I want (not exactly a need) a Croton plant. Would look nice for the summer in my front flowerbed. Probably wouldn't try to over winter...though knowing me, I may try. I kept the same $2 geraniums alive for something like 3 years once just for the heck of it!

Also another gym day...no surprise there, right?

Off to the shower, and then hit the road...being in Alpharetta at 11:30 can sometimes be a challenge. (traffic wise)

I got three big bowls of blueberries this morning. Some of that, no doubt, was left from yesterday since I waited too late and got caught in the rain after only one bowl worth and had to come in. Looks like I will be freezing another two or three quarts soon. Maybe today!

Right now I am cooling off (and drying off - the bushes were very wet) from the picking. After the cool off I may take a shower, but that may wait until after lunch. They are out there working, and piled rocks (for the drainage ditch) all over the end of the driveway, after asking me if I needed to get out this morning. I think they may well finish that up and do the driveway today, which would be fine with me.

Howdy. It's wonderful Wednesday! Hot with 50% chance of rain. Not a lot on the agenda today. Sit around and wonder what the construction workers are up to. Peek out the garage door windows occasionally to see. Eat some blueberries for sure. Dishwasher is running now. Did laundry yesterday.

    Good Morning Ed!
I was the luckiest critter in GA yesterday! Inch and a half of rain fell, and I missed being caught out in it all day! Drove to Alpharetta and light sprinkle as I crossed over 141 at States Bridge...stopped at Pike's and picked up a few more plants...:) Why not!?!..back into the car before the rain, dropped off plants at home, and into the gym, where there had been a downpour, (says gym staff) I could see there had been a big water dump...home as it started to rain, and into my garage...still dry as an old bone...and once I was home two more downpours! (Me, still dry....Tom E. not so much!) I think the last downpour took him by surprise, as he put up a fuss at the back door, and I opened up to see one soaked to the skin unhappy cat...heheh, he looks really funny when he's wet! So when you got wet picking the blueberries, did you stand at the back/side porch and whine before you went in to dry off? Probably not, and you need to take lessons from Tom E.!!! LOL!

This morning I've walked a bit over half a mile at home, will hit the gym later today...as for now the Kitchen needs attention, and a few other chores. I hope we get a good 'Roger' update from Mike T. sometime today. He's been thru what sounds like a really really big surgery, and its going to be slow going for quite awhile I'm afraid.

Glad they are working on finishing your driveway!! I know it will make you comings and goings easier, not having to wonder about coming home to a torn up driveway!!!

Apple watch is dangling a 'challenge medal' for the month of June in front of me. The other 5 this year have been easy to achieve...this month, not so much. I was tasked to walk 86.2 (yeah, really,...86 miles isn't long enough...need those other two tenths! Jeese!) So far I've stayed on track, and my calculator says if I walk 3 miles EVERY day the rest of June, I'll just 'squeak by'. If I make this challenge, I promise you I will be staying home July 1st.!!! But, being a stubborn old lady, I'm for sure going to have a go at this!

Blueberries....mmm... so good. I nibble on them every day, and add them to salads, and of course my oatmeal! I think I'm going to freeze about a cup or so...cuz they'll really be extra special when the chilly mornings set in this fall. Or, I may make a small blueberry pie in my smallest ring form cake pan.

    But first...chores.

Howdy. It's thrilling Thursday! Should be hot and thundery today, especially in the morning and late evening. Not a lot on the agenda for today but pretty definitely a nap. I woke at 2:00 this morning to a severe cramp in my right leg and was in agony for 10 to 15 minutes, alternately walking and trying to hold it straight, while crying out in pain. If J were home, I am sure it would have been loads of fun for him, as it would have had him awake to share the misery. I didn't sleep well after that, with flashes of residual pain.

Orion did his best to help, giving me a nice kitty massage, complete with healing purr effects, for 10 or 15 minutes, just after I laid back down. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he wasn't massaging the right area.

They finally installed the concrete conduit under the driveway yesterday, and then cut my internet (third time!) as they proceeded to the neighbor's driveway. Xfinity installed a new, bright orange, cable from the box by the road, to the house. This looks like the cable they usually use for the trunk cable that goes all down the road. They will be back to bury it in a couple of weeks, presumably, and hopefully the destruction...er, construction has proceeded enough now that it won't be cut again in the interval.

    Good Morning!
Home from the gym, and lunch has been eaten...Going to see if I can sneak out and pull a few weeds before the first round of rain..
Had a really good time at Costco yesterday post gym time. )Note to self...do not do this again)...Found several things to try...one item I could not find that I KNOW I purchased there before...etc. The point being...you mentioned you had lentil pasta...yesterday I tasted, and really liked Edamame spaghetti!
Well, had I just poked Post, this would have been at your computer about 5 hours ago!
Meanwhile I've pulled weeds until the rain came, then Tom E and I sat in the swing while it rained..and then I took a nap, and finally Jack called...and after our chat I fixed my dinner... All I can say is OOPS!!! Old Persons Swiss Cheese Brain???

Hope you've had a good day, that your driveway is finished, and that you have a great evening.

    Good Morning!
Nice outside now...it will get steamy later!
Ted's coming out in about half hour, and I want to get the sticks and twigs from the yard. I figure that is the very least I can do to help with the lawn. Meanwhile I'll be working on my flower beds.

Not much on the horizon for the day...lawn, gym and lots of goofing off! :)

Howdy. I'd have beat you on posting, but I was at the tag office. We received J's motorcycle license plate yesterday, and another plate, addressed to us, in a separate envelope, but containing a normal sized vehicle plate for someone in Lawrenceville. Somehow they put copies of J's registration in the mailing window pockets of both envelopes. As the expiration for the large plate was set for November, and we use birth month for renewals in Georgia, I hope the lady in Lawrenceville is enjoying her new car!

And I hope her plate gets to her before her temporary tag expires.

The clerk I spoke to must have been fairly new as she hadn't a clue what to do at first, just saying that they don't mail those from the satellite office here. When I pointed out that I had nowhere else to take it, and certainly wasn't going to drive to Lawrenceville to turn it in at the courthouse (or perhaps deliver it to the rightful owner?) she took it to ask her supervisor.

I could have taken that opportunity to flee, though there was no way they could get me to take it back into my possession anyway, but waited, and almost laughed out loud when I heard the supervisor saying, loudly, as the clerk headed back to me, "And be sure to thank him!"

The clerk did thank me and said that they would take care of getting it back in the mail to the right party.

Maybe you can't fight City Hall, but apparently you CAN work with them...

As part of the city/county sidewalk construction project (that we didn't want in the first place) in front of our house, they created the horrendous ditch pictured below, though we had never needed anywhere near that volume of drainage before.

When I inquired, I was then told that they were not even planning to install a guard rail to keep people from falling in!

YESTERDAY I sent an email to the mayor, explaining that this was a safety hazard and could result in serious liability issues, and that it would quickly become a trash collecting eyesore. And, of course, suggested a resolution using buried conduit instead of the ditch.

He responded almost immediately, promising to have it looked into.

THIS MORNING a small crowd of people arrived, and after a brief look at the existing mess, summoned me for a consultation. The Construction Manager assured me that he wasn't happy with what he saw, and that he would take it back to the designers and engineers, and do his best to eliminate the ditch for us!

I honestly thought that we would be stuck with that ugly ditch, and was hoping to at least get guard rails.

Now it looks like I may get everything I wanted them to do to fix it!

That is a great story! 'and be sure to thank him'...smart supervisor!
Heading north this morning..going to spend a bit of time with Jack and Jenn, and maybe spot a farmers market on the way...I'm still missing my ghost squash from TJ's. LOL!
Other than that, not much happening this weekend. Lawn looks nice as Ted did a great job of taking care of it for me, while I pulled, cats paw, blackberry canes, Virginia creeper vine, and another vine who's name I cannot ever remember. Will ask Jack...he tells me the name every summer! Its a good think I have kids!
I'm sure the azaleas are thanking me...
So, will see you here later today.

Howdy. It's sumptuous Sunday! I was up past pumpkin time last night because J drove his motorcycle home from Kentucky and, with many stops, didn't get home until after 11:00. I had a large handheld style blueberry pie waiting for him, but didn't actually get to see him eat it, as it turned out he had not stopped for supper on the way. After a little bit of this and that, I went to bed and he stayed up to figure out what he wanted to eat, besides pie. Honestly, the only plate I noticed this morning was the plate I had put the pie on, but he might have slipped another plate or bowl into the dishwasher.

I never did get around to freezing any more berries yesterday, but did spend over an hour out there picking 4 more big bowls of them. J was a little bit nonplussed to see about two gallons of blueberries sitting in various containers in the refrigerator.

I definitely need to freeze another gallon (or more) today.

    Hi Ed,
You may have been up past pumpkin time last night, and you still beat me here this morning! I've been into 'this and that' as well. Up at 6:30 ??? this is becoming a bad habit! Lots of wind yesterday evening, Tom E. was out wanting in, in wanting??? crying around the house like a baby! 'We' finally settled on the swing..out! This morning he was full of purrrrs. Weird cat!!

Clothes going in both the washer and dryer, and the bulk of my time this morning went to cleaning up the screened porch. Amazing the 'litter' that can get in to that area, and onto the indoor/outdoor rug. Broomed it for the big stuff, like pine needles, and took my old and really cheap vacuum out there and finally got it to where I considered it 'clean'. Tom E. watched all of this from the roof of the house, at the high peak. I couldn't really see him unless I went out into the yard, like to dump the vacuum canister, etc. I hope all that meow-ing was expressions of appreciation!!! ?ya think?

Now, I need to eat something and soon a my gym clothes dry, go to the gym....

Later... and glad J got home safely!

    Good Morning Ed.
Thanks for the heads up about the rain chances. I'd better get my act together, visit the gym, and proceed on to Kroger. I won't starve if I don't get to Kroger, but ....

Good luck with your freezing today! You'll probably be a busy bee most of the day.
That was nice of the lady from the other forum to let us know about Roger. I am just about afraid to open the mail these days. I find Roger in my mind several times a day. Poor guy...hope he gets those clots dissolved, and things go better for him. I know you think the same.

My orchids blooms are slowly beginning to wilt and fall off. Not that my window is bare...I counted 2 dozen still all plump and happy on the plants. I miss them when the blooms are all gone, which I suppose is why I'm so darned happy each December then I see the bloom stalks beginning to appear.

Now, I am going to check on Emmy from yesterday's post and see what she's doing with the garlic., and several other video's..(though they will have to wait until AFTER the gym. Another day, another 3 miles...and as long as I don't miss any day this week and weekend I will not say I won this months award, but that I EARNED it!!! This has been a lot of work. (poor ? Ted. His goal is well over a hundred miles walking this month. YIKES) I'm sure glad they take age and other factors into consideration setting these goals. (must be some interesting algorithm don't ya know!)

Hope your day goes well, (and the cats are as helpful as they can be while you're freezing berries. LOL!!! )

Howdy. It's terrific Tuesday! A bit cooler and no chance of rain. I should get out to Kroger, and maybe PetSmart today if possible, and include a stop by the vet for more 1 ML syringes with needles, as I used the last one in the house for Lilo's Tuesday shot this morning. She hates the shot but loves the crunchy treats she gets right after!

    Good Morning Ed,
Looks like we can declare Metro Shopping Day today. After gym I am making a Kroger run, possibly Publix as well.
Kroger has the sparkling water I like, and the pricy, but delicious frozen greens that I love!

I need to check the weather temps. It was quite 'damp' read dew-ish, when I joined Tom E. on the porch this morning. It was 71 degrees and I put on a light weight over shirt to be comfortable!!

Starting the final count down to earn my monthly Apple Watch challenge...last Tues of the month...and unless I mess up tomorrow, I should be good if I go every day, including the weekend! Tomorrow is going to be a long day in Atlanta, chiro, immediately followed by hair cut, and a quick stop at TJ's. Maybe late lunch with Ted? So, I will need to muster up energy and have a long talk with self to get my gym chore done..

    Heads up Ed...
I sent you a email with 63 ways to cook potatoes....I haven't watched all of it...last I saw he was making Asian Stir Fried potatoes....they looked amazingly easy, and he made them sound delicious. May have to have a go at them one day. So, don't be alarmed by the email...

I'd like to think we may hear some news from Mike today...hopeful, really hopeful that its good news. Roger's due for good things to happen. Fingers crossed...

Howdy. It's wonderful Wednesday! Another fairly hot one with no chance of rain. I gave away some more fresh picked blueberries last night, to a Thai restaurant owner friend. Not a lot on the agenda for today. Maybe some laundry, and I need to get some lamb stew going by 10 at the latest. I have the potatoes and slow cooker sitting on the counter to remind me.

    Good Morning!
Off in just a very few minutes for both a hair appointment and a session with Dr. Pat. Lunch with Ted, maybe a stop at Trader Joe's in MidTown. Home and off to the gym. Will make for a busy, busy day. Today, Thursday, and Friday...possibly a short stint at the gym on Saturday and I will have walked that 86.2 miles this month. Meaning I get to take off from the gym on Sunday!! YES!!!

Watched the pinto bean and beet burger video...looks interesting. Would be curious to taste one...Nothing there that I don't like, ingredient wise..hmmmm!

I need to check on my 'garden' today sometime too...I know there are small tomatoes to pick, and I think I need to add another layer of dirt to the potato experiment...

Hope your day goes well Ed. 'See' you in the morning

Its overcast, and doesn't feel bad outside. Think this is a good morning to shear the burfordi holly and the forsythia! Plants better be shaking in their roots!!!
Gym again today, so what's new?? I think (am pretty sure) I will be able to pull this award thing off on Saturday! Guess who will not be at the gym on Sunday!! LOL!!
Other than the shrub hair cuts and gym, I'm also 'all done' for the day. Will probably hit the kitchen and cook a few things, like rice, a package of frozen mixed greens, maybe a sweet potato, carrots, etc. So I can throw together a 'mix and match' dinner several days. I like my 10 minute dinners. Plain and simple, quick and easy!

Howdy. It's sensational Saturday! Pool party today, and I haven't checked to see how many are on the guest list. I can always just bow out early. Baked beans for 50+ are baking in the oven and I have some freshly picked blueberries packaged up as a host(ess) gift.

Oddly enough, there is another one planned for the next weekend. Not sure if I am really up to another so soon. Heck, I am not sure I am up to today's party, but I'll do my best to keep the social anxiety down. Maybe bring a bottle or two of wine? LOL! I DO have to drive back, so maybe not.

    Hi Ed...
I am here! Yesterday I completed that June Apple Watch Challenge!! This one was tough, or maybe not as easy as the other months...Almost afraid to look July 1st to see that Challenge!
Also yesterday, besides gym, I watched the USA against home team France World Cup Women's Soccer! It was on Fox, so I could see it in English. My two Latino stations were doing other matches. SO, there was that!!
I also watched a fist full of your video's from past posts!

Today, I'm sure its already hot out...it gets pretty crazy when the humidity is higher than the actual temperatures!
That said, sitting in my swing, enjoying my 'coffee', and being 'joined and un-joined' by Tom E. was pleasant enough this morning.

I need to water some potted stuff...finally got around to watching some u-tubes on growing potatoes in a bucket. I think I did everything wrong with mine, time will tell! I really just wanted to mess with my already sprouted potatoes! Not growing it to feed me all winter or such! LOL!

This morning I watched a short video on Gardening in Hot Weather....Marjory highlighted 6 foods/flowers/weeds... after years of wondering what to do with my old 4X4 garden beds, I think I'll grow weeds! Actually weeds are already in it., but not edible ones. (or at least not that I'm aware of)...I can just see my little garden of lambs quarter, nutsedge, and canna lilies!! :) Yep, that's me, crazy old lady and her cat at the end of the cul-de-sac!!!

Enjoy your pool party, if you go...and lay off the wine til you get home, maybe???!! :)

    Later...

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! Looks like another hot one, with 20% chance of rain. Yesterday's party was great. The beans were a hit, and the crowd ate oodles of burgers and hot dogs. I ate one of each, sans buns, and a decent serving of the beans with a few nibbles of sweets, including a few pieces of broken cookies (the calories leak out through the broken edges you know) and one, whole, small chocolate chip cookie. Then a bite here and there of various salads, some veggie chips, and a tiny bit of fruit. J managed a late lunch (he was working registration) of baked beans, several different potato salads, and I think I may have seen a cookie or two on his plate.

I brought the hosts a container of blueberries, forgetting that they have blueberry bushes too, but they still appreciated them, saying that they have not really had time to properly pick, other than handfuls for snacking so now had enough to make some muffins and maybe some pancakes.

My breakfast this morning was sausage and pancakes. I leave it to the imagination of the reader to guess what kind of pancakes those might have been. Needless to say, I made (and ate) more than I needed, but did save a stack in case J might want pancakes for lunch. If he doesn't, I may save them for tomorrow's breakfast.

Might need to do some laundry today.

    Good Morning!
I was up much earlier...have done a new video for abs...had my mushroom coffee on the porch swing, part of that time with cat on my lap :) Tried to interest him with the coffee, thankfully he was not interested. Locked myself out of the house...had to locate my spare garage opener, well, it happens.....
So, shower is next, then move furniture in the living room so just before gym time, I will steam the rug, and after gym, stop by Wendy's and get a baked potato. I will not have use of the kitchen, living or dining room. But, can get to the front room, my bedroom & bath room, and the great outdoors if its not too awfully hot...and there is laundry I can access and my sewing machine is begging me to do some mending...etc. Should I wear myself out, I can also nap!!! Sounds like a plan to me!?!

Glad your pool party was fun...everyone always loves your beans! You already know about broken cookies, but did you know that leftovers in the refrigerator overnight, removes all of the calories??? That's the story my Great Aunt tried out on me the summer I lived with her. She was afraid I wasn't eating enough!! Dear woman fed me a big breakfast, packed enough lunch that my college room mate who also worked in the same building as I did, could share my lunch and neither of us were ever hungry....so after a hard day (smirk) at work, Dear Great Aunt Mary would have a dinner fit for a dock worker!! Needless to say I gained a great deal of weight that summer! Bless her, she was a gem!

Ok, off to the shower and on with this day...

    Later!!!
