    In case anybody is curious

The hospital food was OK. Once they let me eat solids  They have people that visit the rooms and take the meal orders from a selection. What was semi annoying was the there seemed to be no predictable time it was delivered, sometimes early and sometime a bit late.
I broke down and tried the Mashed potatoes and gravy and I was somewhat surprised that the potatoes were not instant.

    One Menu I ordered
2 pats of butter, for the potatoes.
4 oz. Rice Pudding, Kozy Shack brand
    8 oz. Chicken Noodle Soup
8 oz. Coffee with creamer, Fake Cream, Yuck
    4 oz. Chicken Marsala
    1/2 Cup Green beans
4 oz. Mashed potatoes with gravy.
    1 slice orange slice.

So not to bad.Friday 4-19s dinner.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Another hot one with no chance of precipitation. Laundry today.

The sidewalk and curb will obliterate the current shallow drainage ditch along the roadside. They have to install some other method of drainage. The lower front yard is full of enormous pieces of concrete conduit that will presumably be used for that purpose.

As there is a fairly steep slope down to the street they will also have to level enough of the yard and driveway to allow installation of the sidewalk, and re-slope the remaining driveway to accommodate the sidewalk, while still allowing vehicles to get in and out without tearing their undersides and bumpers off. We already have to angle our entry and exit just right to avoid scraping the front bumper.

It will be interesting to see how they manage all this.

    Good Morning!
Listening to a podcast about our food SYSTEM...not what to eat, but how the very system that feeds us is failing us. Not a very cheerful podcast.

Ted is arriving in about 45 minutes and we will work on the yard once again. Not sure what he has in mind for this days activities..will know shortly!

I hereby swear I will NEVER buy another container of pre-sliced or chunked fruit from Kroger again...not ever. I bought one yesterday, and the only edible thing in it was the 4 chunks of watermelon. Both the cantaloupe and the honeydew were harder than concrete. I'm toying with the idea of returning it to them. I've had this happen before, you'd think that I would learn. I keep hoping they'll improve...silly me.

We seriously need some rain here. Maybe tomorrow, I hope. Apparently they got rain again at oldest son's house day before, and the weather human last night said that once again the rain will be west of I-85. Need I say I'm EAST of 85?

    Later...

    Hi
Some chances of rain today. It is 52degrees outside and I turned the heat on to take the chill off of the rooms. Despite that I had my test Tuesday in the outpatient section of the hospital, I still do not have the results. Is that good or bad, I do not know. I shall call the doctors office again, when I called yesterday I was told I should get a phone call later that day.

    Good Morning Ed
When I looked at the weather forecast for today it was predicted that the temperature would not hit 60 degrees, The Atlanta area appears to have captured the east coast warm weather

I should do Laundry, Motivation is lacking and at least I have several days of clean clothes so no biggie if I do not do the laundry.

Ah ha, That drainage ditch sounds like what we had when I was in grade school out west. Good Luck with the re-sloping of Your driveway, It sounds as if it might be worse than before. The Exit to the road from the recycle yard requires me to angle and go slow. Strangely enough our driveway here at home is fine pulling in and backing out, If I reverse in so the car is facing the street scrape city :(

    Hello Valerie
In what way is our food system failing us ? Is the Podcast free ? If so post a link please.

I blame the producer of the fruits more than the store, they have to use what is delivered and melons are generally picked before they ripen to reduce shipping losses, Tomatoes also.
We all hope for a different outcome and are often disappointed.

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! Hot today with 40% chance of rain. As they have left a large pile of sand blocking the (not yet replaced) drainage ditch, I certainly hope they get some work done today. As it stands, if we get much rain, there will be a small pond at our driveway that may dissolve the sand driveway we currently don't enjoy, and could even cover some of the road. The creek that it drains into is just a few yards further along the yard. All they would need to do is push the sand up a little farther into our yard. The creek runs down the south side of our yard, going under the road there, as that is the lowest part of the road on this section.

    Good morning, happy Friday!!
partly cloudy, 74 degrees...will rain sometime today..(so they say)... :)

Ted and I got a good bit done yesterday. I have a few things to do which is fine. He grubbed out the monkey grass and other trash stuff growing in my front of house bed, leaving the azalea's, 2 hydrangea's, a couple ground covers that I especially like and my gardenia...then in went 6 bags of mulch. Looks nice! I made it thru about 2.5 hours of outdoors and was wiped out. So...Ted finished up his stuff and went home, I had lunch and a rest, didn't actually sleep. Then on to the gym to use the rehab elliptical, picked up 2 ears of corn and a cut half of a watermelon from the market...ate my dinner, fed cat twice??? hungry tonite, and cut up the melon so I could get the rinds out to the curb and...I went to bed!!! Big active day for this ole gal.

Roger, try this for an address to Dr. Mark Hyman's pod cast...I had several options to send it, but would have needed your email, etc...so I copied it..hopefully correctly (I couldn't even copy paste it as the minute I took my mouse off the podcast name, the address would go away???)
    Anyhow, for what its worth...
    https://drhyman.com/blog/2019/05/01/podcast-ep51

hope that works. I found it interesting as I grew up in MO, on a farm that was over 300 acres, and considered 'small' even for the 50s'& 60s'. My brother now owns a farm in central MO and has a huge chunk of land...that he farms out for a fee. and his daughter, my niece teaches hight school agriculture classes in MO...so I can relate to an awful lot of the podcast. Dr. Hyman has/is not one of my 'go to' doc's. He is however plant based. My argument with him is his use of oils and fats. I much prefer to not do 'added fats'. :) (and since I don't eat cheese, butter, etc its pretty easy for me!) I DO love my avocado, fatty little globs of green heaven..but those are not to be considered 'added' fats..(and in the interest of losing a couple pounds limit my avo addiction to one avocado per month!)

Ed, I do not envy you the mess they have left in your yard. I'd suggest you check your 'larder' and hit the grocery for supplies thru at least Monday. Probably Tues to be honest... If they work today it will likely be a 'short' day, and then weather dependent, they'll be back..hopefully.

Going to start a load of clothes, or may wait until after gym...mmmm. yeah, wait til after gym!

    Hello Ed
I see that the Bobcat has been busy ruining Your driveway. I wonder what the one oddball concrete piece is for ? Since that is a bed of sand I would be afraid of driving through accumulated water unless You can see the bottom if it does flood there.

Still more heat for both of You, and we are still below norms here. I can hear the furnace busily burning up Money as it heats the house up to take the chill off. This room is 65 degrees currently and once it hits 72 degrees I'll turn off the heat for the day.
Keto Lemon Chicken With Asparagus - Easy 6 Ingredient Low Carb Recipe
I like Lemon Chicken however Pass on Thighs and replace with Breast meat. No shocking the Asparagus for me, No Ice maker or cube trays in the freezer section. It generally stays full to the brim. Two drawer type freezer section in our refrigerator. I use one and my brother uses the other  He did mention to let the meat rest. That is a big mistake many people make, they cut the meat right out of the pan and then wonder why it is dry.

    Hello Valerie
I thought I had given You and Ed my Email ? You could also put anything into a PM here on the forum.

You were active, more so than I would be if the dang rain ever stops falling, we have Dahlias saved from last year that need planting, Hopefully they are still viable, we packed them in peat moss and sprinkled that throughout the winter.

Getting rid of the watermelon rinds is a good idea, We had them sit in the garbage to long one year, what a stinky, messy and smelly bag of garbage that was.

What I did was highlight the link, choose open in a new tab and save that tab as a shortcut on the overcrowded desktop. I ended up with Episode 51, Why We Need a President Who Cares About Food.

The going away thing must be Your browser as it stay highlighted if I move the cursor off of the address and at that point I can Ctrl-C (Copy) and copy it to put somewhere else with a Ctrl-V (paste)

Hmm... Both my brother and I feel that people need some fats in their diet. Added Fats, probably not. Cheese on a burger could be considered a added fat by some. I do buy Water Pack Chicken or Turkey in cans and He buys Water pack Tuna.

Darn it I meant to hit the scale this morning, Too late now after I ate a really tasty NS Cinnamon Roll.

    Later guys...
When the water company could not find the shut off valve for our water service we ended up with a fairly deep 10foot + long and 4 or 5 foot wide and three foot deep hole in the front yard before they found the water pipe. They had all kinds of equipment and people here doing that and it was a miserable sleeting to rain and back to sleet weather day too. Luckily we did not have to pay for that. Not to mention police cars with the lights going while they worked.
Now looking at it You would never know except that there is a water service shutoff in the yard. They even had a yard service spread straw and seed.

Bottom line I hope Ed is as lucky.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! It should be pretty warm, with a 50% chance of scattered showers. After chucking the forecast early, I am already back from Kroger and the groceries are already put away. I put the ground beef in the freezer, but the two pound package of ground beef/ground pork mixture is in the fridge. I'll probably use at least some of it for lunch today, possibly cooking it all up so that dinner and more meals are also half prepared. I bought carrots, Vidalia onions, yogurt, milk, eggs, cheese, paper towels and some of J's precious Mountain Dew Throwback that was on sale.

I also have a sirloin tip roast moved to the refrigerator to thaw and prepare in a few days.

J is back in Kentucky, as his mother has a colonoscopy scheduled next week.

    Hello Ed
FWIW We had rain showers until Saturday afternoon followed by overnight rain which is still falling. I did not bother looking out during the overnight hours as I could hear the rain hitting the window AC unit.

I know a lot of people use a mix of ground meat for meatloaf, myself I always preferred Ground Beef only. Throw in some Eggs, Seasoned Italian Bread Crumbs and put some onion slices and Ketchup on top and bake. Precooking makes for a easy prep later on and should extend the shelf life too.

Do they Make Vadalia Onion Pies in the Atlanta area, I'm guessing the answer is yes.

I like a good Beef roast.

I hope the Colonoscopy goes well for his mother. I'm getting some push from my local doctor to have one done :(

To me it is amazing that they know Pringles over there. I did not see one flavor of chips in the video that I would ever buy or try.

I watched the episode of Guy's Grocery Games last night and the contestants used cauliflower in several ways, the one I would eat was the Grilled Cauliflower Steak. I'm guessing that properly roasted would al be tasty, I eat it raw, and in the frozen vegetables I microwave too.

Howdy all y'all. It's scintillating Sunday! A bit cooler today with 20% chance of rain. I still have half of the beef and pork mixture and it will make something today. Perhaps meatloaf or chili. Yesterday I had two different meals from it. For lunch, I made some small (slider size), seasoned patties and ate them with fried eggs. For dinner, I made a sort of black eyed pea and meat stew. I browned some of the meat, added a can of black eyed peas and some seasoning, and simmered for about 20 minutes. It turned out quite tasty, and provided plenty of protein, and enough carbs, with a good amount of fiber.

I guess I'll find out tonight what the remainder ends up turning into.
