My cardiologist said “You have a good heart!” I said, “Thanks, I know. I do a lot of volunteer work...” then he said, “well, your physical heart is in great shape...no issues.” Made him laugh. I didn’t really expect any issues, but I’ve been double normal weight for more thsn 35 years (except 2015 NS). And my dad died at 44 years old from a heart attack. So, it is nice to know.

Roger - hoping all the best for you with that cold front. That’s serious cold!

Jan - I haven’t eaten out since starting keto. I like the control that comes from cooking things myself and weighing my portions. I keep almonds and protein drinks in the car in case I’m stuck out longer than planned. That’s happened twice and i was so grateful to have them there.

I just posted more humor, I liked the Scale image

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 21 degrees with a wind chill in a nearby city of 8. The rain Yesterday started and stopped on schedule and never turned o snow here, Other areas of NJ had 5 inches of snow. When I looked outside this morning it looked OK, so I went walking.
Where I am we did dodge a bullet with the rain ending before it turned to snow. I will not be walking tomorrow considering that the wind chill today of 8 degrees was bad enough and that tomorrow will much colder. There is a chance of a brief snow this afternoon.

Mini Review. I liked the new NS Four Cheese Manicotti , 250 Calories 35g Carbohydrates. It was tasty, however it tasted a lot like the old Whole Wheat Ricotta Crepes. I will be ordering more of these in the future.

    Good morning!!

Well, we just got some rain. I would have liked a dusting of snow, but I am taking a snow day anyway!! The dividing line hit a little north of us, more than usual. I would rather be safe than sorry..especially with kids lives!

Val, your loss is wonderful!! I feel that way too, trying to change those numbers to the next 10 lbs. It will happen though!! keep up the great loss!! Sorry you experienced such a bad flight from that airline..Sounds like my praise for them was a little premature! :|

Horrible story about PETA though no surprise. Even when their demands are reasonable I do not support them. I just will never trust them. Supposedly they are modifying their view but uninformed stands like that one lead me to believe otherwise. Many dogs here are labeled pits that are not. Our vets are very careful to list another breed on certificates as often as they can because of those kind of mistakes to save the dogs further harassment.

My heater runs a lot at temps now in the 20's..I would hate anything below that...not to mention the bill!! :#

Chinese food is very tempting out! I have that problem too. Thai food and Indian food is almost impossible to eat out on keto. You have to make your own. I very much miss eating there and supporting those businesses as they are run by some pretty nice folks!

Glad you are taking precautions to substitute walking in the weather. Maybe your snow and cold will be less than predicted too.

    Take care!! ...Jan
    Hi Jan
I was not surprised, Peta seems to have a large amount of nuts in their organization. They wanted the Town of Fishkill to change its name, more here
    http://edition.cnn.com/US/9609/06/fishy.name/

A fishy name will stay the same
FISHKILL, New York (CNN) -- Welcome to the small, upstate New York town of Fishkill, or should it be called Fishsave?

All was quiet in Fishkill until an animal rights group, PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, took issue with the town's centuries-old name.

PETA wants the town to change its name, claiming it suggests cruelty to, well, fish.

As I said Nuts inside of Peta.

I find that if I eat Chinese Food it causes cravings for more the next day :(
I love Some of the Thai Food, I do know what You mean since the ones I like are either wide noodle based or thin noodle based.

The changeover to snow did not happen in town, other parts of the state had snow starting in the morning and up to 5 inches deep, I got lucky

    Have a Good Day

    Hi Val
My brother and I tend to make the cashiers at the Grocery store laugh with our banter at the checkout, We consider that a win. I feel that a good sense of humor is a Gift, Lucky You to have one also.

So far so good heart health here too despite having been somewhat to a lot heavy for most of my life to. Congratulations on the clean bill of health heartwise.

Some of the NS Bars would work well in the glove box in the car, that is what we do here. There is always water in the car to wash them down with. The water in the car will be hard water this week with the bitter cold OTOH so a fresh bottle of spring water needs to be taken from the house.

    Have a Nice Day

I just posted some humor, I liked the one with the ducks and the Airplane

    Hi
I did not go walking due to the reported windchill and thus once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 3 degrees with a wind chill in in the -15 area. Depending on tonight's forecast I will or will not go walking tomorrow.

Before I forget a little before 3PM Wednesday we had a Brief but heavy visibility reducing Snow Squall come through, By 3:15 it was out of here.

As I sit here and try to keep warm, this room is down to 65 degrees being a corner room with original windows and the Kitchen which usually runs colder is 69 degrees. The kitchen only has one short wall on the outside of the house which is likely why. Yesterday I drove around a while since the car had not been used in over a week and picked up the largest McDonalds Coffee which is only a $1 and here I am when not typing with my hand wrapped around it to warm my fingers :)

Enjoy the latest Keto recipe I posted. That One is really interesting to me as I like those, just not the carbs even the carbs in the NS version as higher.

I have heard bad things about the Peta so called Animal Shelters for years, As I see it You need to be gullible to support them which likely explains all the Hollywood types. Your attitude to them is not all that strange to me.

BTW, Here is a tongue in cheek faux news article

    BY JOHNNY MO | JANUARY 27, 2018

CHICAGO — Climatologists are blaming record-low temperatures for the steep decline in Year-Round Shorts-Guy populations, resulting in a massive shortage of exposed, hairy, mid-winter calves, according to a new study released today.

“An increasing number of well-calved men are buying full-length pants for the first time since high school. This is incredibly dangerous, as their own family members may not recognize them and reject them,” said study author Janet Baker, as she adjusted the leggings she regularly wears to work, dinner, and bed. “This particular strain of men are known to typically ‘run hot.’ Their decline could single-handedly end the entire cargo short industry.”

“Guys who only own shorts are fully clothing themselves because of unprecedented, rapid shifts in temperature. Most of these guys have already known for years that their favorite college bands were lackluster,” said Gutierrez. We could be facing an extinction-level event, where these men are forced to become ‘socks-with-sandals’ guys.”

Scrambling to save the critically endangered men, a handful of privately funded chimera research labs are racing to hybridize Year-Round Shorts-Guys with Jeans-at-the-Gym-Guys.

“It is our last chance to save this species of American man.

I just posted some humor, Enjoy

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 11 degrees. It was cold outside, however I decided that with no wind chill I could handle it thus I did walk today.

I do have Carhart brand Thermals that go from waist to ankles. I also have different thickness shirts and so on that I wear under the hoodie depending on the temperature. Toss in the Heated Mittens and if needed the Lightweight rain gear that can be used as a head to toe windbreaker set and so far so good. The only part that gets really cold is the face and I leave it uncovered so I can drink my coffee while walking

Mini Review. I liked the new NS Chicken Paella, 220 calories and Total Carbohydrate 29g. I liked the taste and the fact that it was not too spicy, not Loaded with Peppers or hot.

    Hi Val
Ouch, surgery, Did they give You a timeline for that and how long a recovery period. I suppose You need to coordinate that with the Surgeon and work ? Good Luck.

Be careful with the A1C, I was in the Pre Diabetic range for years and even that had an effect. So far so good however I now try and avoid to many carbs. Most Take out is high Carb and Take out is my weakness, I love Pizza for example. A couple of slices or Sausage, Meatball, Pepperoni or other toppings are so tempting. Luckily I can grab one of the Tasty NS Pizzas

Dad and his brothers all had Diabetes and that should have tipped me off to be careful and I ignored that warning.

If I had known then what I know now, oh well water over the dam.

I'm sorry to hear about work, I am sure that the stress is not helping.

I do take care in the cold weather, You can see how in the post ahead of this one.

    Hi Jan
Happy Payday, I do not expect my pension check to arrive before Saturday, They Mail it on the first and it comes on the second. Not to much I can do with it Saturday afternoon since I do not have nor would I use a Debit card and ATM.

I am afraid that when I get to the doctor and he does a blood test he will want to prescribe pills or injections. I've been a bad boy with my eating with cheat days for a while :(

I thought that might tickle Your fancy
Flip Flops are something I never do like to use nor do I like the noise they make. I suppose they have a limited place like a Public Shower, Gym or Health Club ?

It could have been worse, when the daytime high is below zero as was the case in some areas how do You do anything that requires leaving the house ?

    Hi Val
I have decided that I will start using butter and salt to taste. As an example yesterday I made a Egg Salad Sandwich, One Large Egg, Mayo and no sugar added Sweet relish and the 40 calorie a slice of Italian Bread that I put some butter on. Plenty of hard boiled eggs right now since my brother hard boiled a carton of 18 eggs

Good going finding something that works for You, Not to mention Keto should be good for Your Blood Sugar levels.

I think this morning breakfast will be the NS breakfast omelet with a 1/2 slice of Velveeta that adds a good taste between two slices of the bread and I will likley throw away the crust.

I do not know why but MFP double posted this one
