Good afternoon,
Ed-I am glad that Ruby is doing better and that you had a good doctor visit. Hi Vix and Irene. It is 71F and cloudy. We had some heavy rain this morning. It has been a lazy kind of day.

good morning
Ed, that's quite an ordeal for Ruby. I'm glad she seems to be doing better and hope all is well at the follow up visit. Hi Jo and Irene.
It's currently 66F, 19C. Variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms. High 84F, 29C. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%. I have cranio-sacral therapy today, will see how that goes. The integrative health practitioner sent me a list of supplements and instructions. It's too much. I'm trying to get in touch with her to pare it down. It's overwhelming as it is. I woke up early this morning. The sky turned pink before. It was pretty. Wishing all an easy Friday. βπ€οΈππ€π»ποΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!
We have 21 (Celsius) mostly sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 31 and 2% chance of precipitation.
We did manage to eat at Cici's last night though paying the buffet price for two when only one of us was eating any pizza kind of stung. I had a lot of salad, and had to separately pay for "naked" chicken wings, $7.99 for only 5 small pieces, not even 5 whole wings, just 3 drummies and 2 of the other wing part. Still, I got enough to eat I guess. There was plenty of vegetarian pizza for Jason and he ate too much. I felt a little stuffed, but it was mostly salad. There was no meat (ham or bacon bits) on the salad bar so the only protein there was shredded cheese. There were pickled beets so I ate a nice serving of those with my salad.
I heard Ruby playing a lot after bedtime, but didn't even mind the sleep interruption because that meant that she was feeling pretty good. She's eating well. The doctor visit this afternoon wasn't really required by the hospital but our regular vet wanted to see her for a followup rather than just drawing blood for the hospital. I didn't mind at all.
Breakfast was some chicken nuggets, fried eggs, and a Katz gluten free cinnamon doughnut, with cranberry juice blend to drink.
Back to work!

Good afternoon;
It is currently 73F and cloudy. I picked up and planted a few more lavender plants, went to the grocery store and out to breakfast. I had an omelet with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and provolone cheese. I ate half and took the rest home. I also changed the bed linens and did 3 loads of laundry. I still have one load to fold. I also had a little cat nap. As I am typing the sun has some out. I think I will sit on the deck and read for a while. Ed-It sounds like Ruby is feeling a lot better. Vix-good luck with your therapy. Hi Irene. Enjoy your day!π

Afternoon follow-up.
We took Ruby for follow-up bloodwork this afternoon and her red cell count looked better than when last tested at the hospital so we are optimistic. Still no definitive cause but the best hypothesis seems to be that it was a slow moving infection from when she DID have worms, a few weeks ago, and it just came to a head over time. Supposedly the fecal from early in the week came back negative for parasites so that's good. We're going to continue to give her the meds they sent home with her, including the de-wormer, until it's all gone. Other than that, we'll be monitoring her behavior and her litter box droppings.

good morning,
well it finally stopped raining we have had rain for a couple of days.
Ed hope ruby is going to be ok
Hi vix and jo

good morning
Ed, glad Ruby is doing bettter. Eating out can be hard. We found a few restaurants that are dependable for gluten free food. Jo lavender is so pretty. We have some Russian sage, which I like a lot too. Your breakfast out sounds like something I would order. Good for you for getting 3 loads of laundry done. You deserve your relaxation in the sun. π Irene, I think it's finally stopped raining here too. The ground is still wet, but the sun is out. Yay!
It's currently 69F, 21C. Sunshine and a few clouds. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High around 85F, 29C.. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph. We went to Frederick yesterday and walked around the mall. There were a lot of empty storefronts. We'll probably go to our grandson's soccer game this morning. I have some cleaning to do that I didn't get to yesterday, and maybe we'll go out to dinner tonight. Wishing all a great weekend. πππ·π€π»ποΈπ·

Howdy all y'all. It's soggy Saturday!
We have 23 (Celsius) rainy degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 29 and 100% chance of precipitation. I woke to a thunderstorm and there may be more, with scattered thunderstorms forecast until shortly after noon.
I have some laundry in the dryer to fold, but nothing critical on the agenda.
Dinner last night was at the nearby sushi restaurant again. I had the unagi appetizer, sashimi without rice, then a peanut avocado roll and a California roll. It was delicious. Jason had the tamago sushi appetizer, then a cucumber roll and vegetable fried rice. I tasted a bite of the fried rice and Jason had one piece of my peanut avocado roll.
Breakfast was a Katz gluten free coffee bun and some Sprouts gluten free chicken nuggets with cranberry juice blend to drink.
Ruby is active this morning and seems to be tolerating her medicine well. She was playing in the kitchen while I was preparing my breakfast.
The felines will be getting their breakfast shortly.

good morning
Yesterday we watched our grandson's soccer game, I cleaned and did some laundry, Β spent some time reading outdoors and picked some flowers. I took pictues of my simple clay creatures for the grands (see below, not greatπ, it's the thought that counts). We can put a candle in the gnome. It's currently 63F, 17C. A mix of clouds and sun. High near 75F, 24C. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. No special plans for today. I may make a cheesecake. I bought the ingredients for Mother's day, but haven't baked it yet. Wishing all a peaceful Sunday. ππ€οΈβπ€π»ποΈπ·

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!
We have 21 (Celsius) partly cloudy degrees with an expected cloudy high of 27 and 68% chance of thundershowers.
I need to get to the grocery store today.
Vix, thanks but I knew about soy sauce. I loved the ceramic pieces!
At home I buy gluten free soy sauce. At the restaurant I read the label on the bottle at the table, and it did contain wheat, so I had my dinner without any soy sauce except for the tiny taste of Jason's fried rice, and that didn't "get" me overnight or anything. I can apparently have tiny quantities once in a while but since I don't know where the "line" is and don't care to experiment too much to find out, I'll just continue my avoidance routine as I have been.
Sorry to hear that you have to avoid it now too. Good that you already know how to shop for gluten free foods at the grocery! As you said, dining out can be tricky.
Last night's pizza was like a dining out adventure. The crust was listed as gluten free, and I selected toppings that are, by nature, gluten free, but as it was prepared in a shared environment, and baked in the same oven, there were no guarantees that the pizza would be entirely gluten free and the diner (me) is taking their chances.
I did well with my IHOP meal the other night, and no apparent issues from the sushi place or last nights pizza, so there it is. None of these restaurants guaranteed gluten free, and IHOP calls their (hopefully) gluten free foods gluten FRIENDLY, as in they didn't add any ingredients that contain gluten but in prep and cook kitchen that also prepares food that does have gluten, no guarantee.
Breakfast this morning was gluten free chicken nuggets and a Katz gluten free coffee bun. Certified gluten free per the labels and delicious per my taste buds.

Good morning;
Vix-I think you did a good job on the unicorn and gnome. Ed-You seem to be doing well with your gluten free diet. It is currently 65F and the sun is in and out. Yesterday we went to a heritage festival in the next town over. It was fun. Today I helped hubby with a few projects and am thinking of going back to the garden center for some more lavender plants. They smell so good, I thought I would put them in pots on my deck. Have a relaxing day!π

good morning
Ed, you're actually doing great with the gluten free diet. (We had an issue at the Japanese restaurant, I think they may have put regular soy sauce in something and not realized). I made some Krusteaz gluten free wild blueberry muffins yesterday. Their gluten free line must be fairly new. It's always nice to have more options. The cream cheese is good until October, so I'll hold off on the cheesecake for a special occasion. Thanks, Jo. I wish I was better at sculpting things. It's good you find festivals and markets to go to, always fun. Lavender plants are really nice. Irene, hope all is well. How's Sammie doing?
We did some things around the house yesterday, and visited our son and his family in the afternoon. Time flies, Maddie is a year and a half already. She's been very shy the last couple of times we've visited, but adorable. My daughter took her 2 camping Saturday night, so they were exhausted yesterday. It's currently 57F, 14C. A mix of clouds and sun. High 74F, 23C. NW at 10 to 20 mph. I have PT this morning and will see what else the day brings. Wishing you all a bright shiny new week. π€οΈβππ€π»ποΈ

Scam of the Week
Device Code Hijacking
Cybercriminals have come up with a new way to scam you by using device codes, which are numeric codes that allow you to log into the same account using multiple devices. You may have used these codes in the past. If youβve ever attempted to log in to a streaming service such as Netflix from your TV, your TV will display a numeric code that you can enter on your phone. Once you enter the code on your phone, your TV will be automatically logged in to your Netflix account, without needing to log in each time you watch.
In this scam, you receive an email or text message with a device code. The message instructs you to click a link and log in using the code. However, the message you received was actually sent by a cybercriminal. They attempt to log in to your account, which generates the device code. They send the code to you, and if you use it to log in, the cybercriminal will gain control of your account. This code allows them to access your private information from their device. In this situation, the device code allows logins from multiple devices, but one of them belongs to a cybercriminal!
Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to a device code phishing scam:
Never attempt to log in with a device code you did not request. Remember, a genuine device code will only be sent to you if you start the login process.
Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your accounts. MFA requires you to provide extra identification when logging in, and it can help you keep your account more secure.
If you receive any suspicious messages, always report them by following your organizationβs reporting process.

Good morning;
Ed-thanks for the scam info. Vix-Did your grandchildren like camping? When our kids were little we had a pop-up camper that we used to park on Cape Cod for the summer. It was fun. Puttering around the house today and doing laundry. It is currently 58F and breezy. Enjoy your day!π

good morning
Ed, thanks for the scam info. I find those device codes hard to deal with, anyway. Way too many scams! Jo, I think the grands liked the camping. They had a tent and blow up mattresses. Our daughter was exhausted. Irene, it is nice to get a few sunny days. Cooler here today and the next few.
It's currently 48F, 9C. Mainly sunny to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 71F, 22C. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Yesterday, I foiled some glass pieces for a stained glass mushroom and I went out shopping for Fathers Day gifts. Today is craft day and I'm going to try to get there a little earlier. Wishing all a pleasant Tuesday. βπ€οΈπ€π»ποΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!
We have 22 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 33 and 2% chance of precipitation.
Nothing critical on the home front today.
Supper last night was chicken nuggets. Breakfast this morning was cornbread pancakes with maple syrup, bacon, and a fried egg. Cranberry juice to drink.
Ruby seems pretty much back to normal, but there never was a definitive diagnoses on cause. Maybe viral gastroenteritis or salmonella, but it looks like we'll never know for sure.

Good afternoon;
It is currently 57F and cloudy. The gas company has been here since 9am to put the gas meter on the outside of the house and put a new pipe from the street to the house. So far they have taken out the old meter inside the house, dug a big hole in the street, took out a shrub so they could dig another hole close to the house and now they are all sitting in their trucks. There are 5 trucks plus the backhoe. I have no idea what they are waiting for now. I just hope they finish today. I went into work at 4am so I could leave at 8am to be here. I don't want to do that again tomorrow. Ed-I am glad Ruby is back to normal.Vix-good for you getting the Father's Day gifts. I have no idea what to get Charlie. Irene-Glad you are going well. Have a good afternoon.π

Ed, I'm glad Ruby is getting pretty much back to normal. πΈ I'm also curtailing corn for the moment, but your pancakes sound good. Jo, I hope the gas company finished up yesterday. I hope that wasn't a shrub you wanted to keep! I've started to keep gifts simpler. I got a couple of graphic Tees for Pete because he liked the ones I got him last year, and my son said he could use some athletic shorts, and I'll probably pick up a gift card to go with that. I still have to buy cards. Hi Irene, glad you're feeling better.
I finished the small mushroom I was working on in stained glass and continued to work on the small flower panel. I glazed a birdhouse, flowerpot, and pie plate in clay group, but won't run a glaze fire until next week. It's currently 54F,12C, overcast. Cloudy with showers. High 56F, 13C. Winds ESE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Locally heavy rainfall possible. I have an acupuncture appt this morning, and will see what else the day brings. Wishing all a happyπͺday. βππ€π»ποΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!
We have 21 (Celsius) partly cloudy degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 29 and 3% chance of precipitation.
Might get some laundry started today. I'll have to think about that.
Supper last night started with New York Texas Toast gluten free garlic toast and segued into Beecher's gluten free cheese curd lasagna. We both liked this frozen lasagna and I believe I'll buy it again. It's vegetarian as well as gluten free so it suited both of us. The 2-4 servings seems a bit stretched. I suppose maybe if one were having lots of sides it might make it to 4 but realistically it is two nice servings, which was exactly what I expected when I bought it.
Breakfast was yellow corn grits with butter, salt, and pepper. Sausage patties on the side, and cranberry juice to drink.
Work beckons.

Ed, the lasagna looks good. Italian food is comfort food for me. We had chili for dinner last night.
It's currently 55F, 13C. Rain early...then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. High 63F, 17C. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%. I cancelled my appointments with the integrative health practitioner, seemed like way too many supplements and way too many instructions. I'll try to tweak my diet a bit instead. Good afternoon;
It is currently 47F and raining. Vix-I hope you don't have strep. When I went to the heritage festival last weekend there was a booth from the library and they told me about an app called libby, or you can go to their web site meet.libbyapp.com. It has thousands of ebooks and audiobooks. I am going to check it out this weekend. Ed-I had homemade chicken soup for dinner. Does anyone have plans for Memorial Day ? Depending on the weather we may fire up the grill and cook hot dogs and hamburgers. Have a good afternoon.π

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!
We have 16 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 27 and 1% chance of precipitation.
Supper last night was CARB0NAUT brand gluten free pizza. They are small pizzas, so I prepared both the cheese pizza and the veggie pizza. They were OK, but will never be a favorite. The crust was mostly resistant tapioca starch, and had a slightly odd taste and texture. Not BAD, just odd.
Breakfast was the leftover pizza, and some freshly prepared bacon, along with a glass of cranberry juice. Oddly, as a cold leftover, the odd taste and texture of the crust didn't manifest much, if at all. It just tasted like cold pizza.
Ruby has finished all her medication but still has a couple of days of probiotic. She's back to her old self, running around and playing, harassing the older cats by trying to play with them, who, for the most part, are taking it in stride now.
Work beckons.

Jo, thanks, it's not strep, probably a virus, I sound like Bart Simpson's aunts, and it's uncomfortable. It's good to know about Libby. I don't usually like to read online, but good for backup if the need arises. I could use some chicken soup about now, have been drinking lots of tea with honey. No plans for the weekend. Ed, so glad Ruby is back to her old self. I think it was a Banza pizza Pete got last time and thought it was pretty good (for gluten free). The Banza pasta is good.
It's currently 54F, 12C. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 63F, 17C. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Our housecleaner is coming today, so I am cleaning all the towels and bath mats. Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! And it's a long weekend!
19 (Celsius) partly cloudy degrees with an expected mostly cloudy high of 26 and 15% chance of precipitation.
I think I wanted to sleep in but Dinah only let me do that until about 8:30. She started meowing at me earlier than that, but I managed to hang in there until 8:30.
Lunch yesterday was a cheeseburger with Ruffles brand potato chips, trying out the Katz brand gluten free burger buns. The bun is a bit small, and wouldn't begin to hold a Whopper, but the normal sized beef patty I fried was a good fit. I may have another for lunch today. I don't tend to like really big buns for burgers anyway, as it's too much bread.
Supper last night was pizza again, but not from the freezer, ordered in from Pizza Hut. We had literally not ordered from the hut in years, as it seemed that they always messed up our delivery order and the pizza wasn't that great, though dining in at Pizza Hut was always nice. Our local hut closed several years ago and the new one, a bit in the other direction is only pick-up or delivery. We had been NOT ordering as there are plenty of other pizza places, and we figured we'd have the same delivery experience, but last night decided to give the new one a chance.
Their gluten free crust is Udi brand, which is available in some groceries. It was a bit overcooked but the small pizza, looking rather sad and lonely in a medium box, looked much less sad when moved to a plate and tasted great. I ate the whole 10-inch pizza.
Breakfast this morning was Greek yogurt with grain free granola, sausage patties, and pineapple juice to drink.
Nothing critical on the agenda for today, but I may start some laundry.
