JUNE 2015 - Move Your @ss Challenge

No rain and a mild morning gave me another chance to get substantial miles in today. I won't have the same opportunities tomorrow, so I will enjoy my success where I can find it. Walked 8.25 miles today for a June total of 94.5 miles. Which means I'm in the green for the next couple of hours anyway.

I had an extremely busy day today but was able to do 8 miles on ex bike at 5:30 this morning & 2 miles walking while pushing the 2 yr old grandson this evening. The more "calm" I need in my life it seems the more people ask of me! I truly NEED a break from all responsibilities. My summer school break is flying by & it has been nothing but stress! I WILL find that break!!!!

got in 3 miles yesterday and 3 today. Slowly getting back into the exercise groove.
@dcmat - glad to see you back at your (somewhat crazy) goal level again.
@vhuber - wishing you peace and a chance to decompress. Sounds like it's time to just say no.
@anaconda - as frustrating as it is to take it easy, your future health may require it.
last but certainly not least - best of luck tomorrow to lovemyalex. When you are able, let us know how the surgery went.0 -
@anaconda469 I'm sorry that happened! I hope your x-ray/appointment goes well and you can get some answers!

Here is what my opinion is on what BONUS MILES should be used for.....
I think bonus miles should only be used or "gifted" to another person in situations where they've had an unexpected illness or injury during a month. I don't think they should be passed around in situations where someone just isn't getting out and moving as much as they should in order to make their goal. I'm not saying that this was Angelmo8's situation or not, I don't know... What I DO know is that I've been about 10 miles or so behind the entire month but I don't want anyone else's extra miles because I just need to get my @ss in gear!)
It kinda defeats the purpose of this challenge of encouraging everyone to get moving and doing whatever they can to make their goal that they committed to if they can just go, "Meh, I don't feel like exercising today, but that's okay, someone will give me their extra miles and I can still hit my goal." If someone is physically unable to move, that's one thing, but if it's a matter of choice that they're not going to make it, then that's different.
Maybe I'm just being a hard@ss, but that's how I think it should work. Feel free to share dissenting opinions if you wish. I promise to listen with an open mind...honest.

Agree with what you said. I did 16 extremely painful miles yesterday, and 2 walking on a treadmill at the doctors office today. Results of spinal x-rays are not in yet. It is frustrating to not know what is happening. My July ride may be gone if I can't ride 25 miles by July 11. Question: should I update my ticked to reflect donated miles, or carry just what I have actually ridden? Going to leave it at actual miles for now.
06/22 - 16.0 miles cycling
06/23 - 2.0 miles walking
Total: 141.0 miles

@Dave - that sounds good to me, it should be for extenuating circumstances, like some of you have had.
@anaconda469 - ouch, hope you feel better soon and take some well deserved rest.
@lovemyalex - will be thinking of you tomorrow, update when you can and enjoy your drugs
I did 4.3 miles in the still hot as h3ll weather out there. Made it more fun since I had some tooth extractions this morning and I resisted the urge to take the fun drugs and go walking under the influence. I'm hoping to try some running tomorrow, we'll have to see what bouncing does, pain wise (graceful runner I am not). I added today's miles back to my ticker since everyone seems to be caught up, but I'm always willing to donate again.

I have appreciated reading about the help that folks are giving extra mileage to those who have had some really nasty things happen to them. But I agree with @darkrider42 that extra miles are for those folks who actually would need them due to very unforeseen circumstances and not because someone is just tired today or has a cold/24 hour bug. Those things happen and are part of life. We all have to figure out how to take care of our selves and work out our schedules and issues. I had an operation back in January and knew I wasn't going to make my miles so I kept my goals pretty low for a while and then set some unrealistic goals. So now I've lost my streak but that's my fault - not anyone here.0

4.17 miles walked today
121.83 miles walked to date0 -
Adding a 1.5 mile run today.
MTD - 56.3/600 -

I made up a little ground today with a 2.1 mile lunch walk and an 8.0 mile stationary bike ride.

6/23- 4.9 miles walk/run
@Lovemyalex- Thank you for your very generous offer, but I have just been really busy this month and haven't had the time to get my miles in, no injuries here. If I do not make it to goal it will be entirely my own fault. You are such a great motivator, I'm glad to be a part of this group!! Good luck with your surgery I hope all goes well
To the rest of the group- I apologize if my post sounded like I was looking for donations. That was not my intention. I was simply voicing my frustration at my own lack of movement. I certainly agree that it is up to me to make my goal or not!0 -

And that's totally what I thought you meant, @ANGELMO8...I didn't think you were asking for any miles so no worries at all!! :flowerforyou:
