College football traffic, little league football & soccer tournament traffic, crazy drivers headed to the beach on this 100 degree day, garage sales. Means, all the neighborhood streets were totally screwed up with people parking on our streets, opening car doors, walking in front of me......bleh! Besides all that, was a good ride :-) Tomorrow ends the last grand tour challenge, then I can give my back and neck a good couple of rest days.

Some of you remember Spikesmom. I have been keeping in touch with her since the car accident she had a while back when coming from the gym. She was hit by a high school student in an SUV. She told me that she was having some surgeries in July to help her walk better and to be more pain free. Well she said her surgeries went well and her doctor finally released her to drive. She finally made a revolution on the bike at PT and is up to 10 minutes of biking. She is coming back to our group soon. She is still using a cane and still has to limp but is slowly recovering. Makes me appreciate how good I have it when I see what other people go through.
Sept. 12: raining most of the day so no long run but we so needed this rain as many of you do as well.
9.5 miles of running 3.5 miles and 2 miles on elliptical and 4 walking miles

@clepant, my grandson is doing awesome & won't go for another scope for 7 weeks. Hope there is not to much scar tissue build up after the acid burns. Also thanks for the update on Spikesmom & I agree What have we to grumble about!
I got in 10.25 on the ex bike at 5 this morning. Had to go watch the 5 month old for 12 hrs while mommy worked the floor at the hospital. It was tough cuz he is spoiled & he only wants to nurse & not take a bottle. Another stress filled day!!!

Well, I was goofing off the other day with my kids and took a tumble on a bicycle...a kid's bike...as in, my 6 year old's bike. I had no business on that little bike, but hey, I was playing with my kids. Actually thought I had broken my foot and ripped something in my knee but thankfully it was just severe bruising and sprained knee. Anyhow, been limping around for a few days but I think I will be able to make a walk today. Won't be running again for a few days, but at least I can walk.0

Just finished a second ride to get some of those miles back for Vuelta. My point is I am feeling sad and frustrated the way cyclists are treated, and losing an acquaintance because someone plowed into the back of her and her husband while they were doing what they loved is disheartening.
And let us not forget today, 9/11, a day that we shall never forget. This pic, there are no words to describe what we lost, what they lost and what the survivors lost.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend anaconda. As someone who is a pedestrian 98% of the time, I see far too many instances of bad driving. Wishing peace and love to your friend's family and friends at this sad time.0 -
Adding a 1.8 mile walk and a 3.8 mile run today.
MTD - 49/1200 -
@clepant Thanks for the update, glad she's doing better.
@anaconda469 I'm sorry for your loss. My brother was hit by a pickup truck a few years ago, when the guy decided to turn without signaling and went right into him. He had to spend the night in the hospital with a lot of bruises and cuts (after being ruled out for a pneumothorax), but was lucky it wasn't worse. And to top it off, the police officer had to give him a ticket for not having a reflector on his bike - even though he did and it was in the bottom of the ditch where he landed, and the bike was twisted like a pretzel.
Me, the pedestrian did 3.5 miles of walking. It's about 20 degrees cooler than yesterday.

Congrats to tazzythatsme - first to cross the goal line!
Clepant - thanks for the update on Spikesmom. Can't wait to welcome her back.

@kar328 - sounds like you can have some eventful work sessions!!
@Dave - sometimes it's liberating to be away from 'civilisation' - but I think US campsites can be a bit more remote, with fewer services than those in the UK. Or maybe I watch too much TV and believe what it tells me too much.
@anaconda - don't you just love techy toys - my son keeps trying to get me to use a type of Strava app - I don't think there is a windows version.
I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. As someone returning to cycling after a great many years my appreciation of how selfish drivers can be is growing incrementally on a daily basis.
@vhuber - I'm so pleased your little man is improving - Grandma hugs are the best treatment possible.
@clepant - glad to see the news about spikesmom.
@tlacox1 - . . . . . . a six year olds bike!! What can I say . . . . .
I'm upping my target to 150 - I'm in danger of passing the 100 very soon!
Edited for typo.0 -
Well I finished the Vuelta challenge, rode every stage plus a pre event ride the day before. These Grand Tour challenges are fun, but after the third one, I am pretty tired. Definitely a rest day or two coming my way. And my back and neck will certainly appreciate the rest too.
