You need an Instagram account linked to your Strava. Take photo's in Instagram out on your ride & upload them before you upload your ride & the images will be GPS located on your map
I've added them direct using the iPhone Strava app and it's added them on the map ok, I think this is more likely a 'turned off' location setting on the phone or camera device.
OK, I'll try this because I don't have an instagram account and don't intend on creating one and downloading an app for the sake of a adding just a few photos.
Edit: OK I went to my phone settings and checked the box on my phone for tagging photos with location. Hope it works!0 -

I hope so, sounds like that will do the trick.0 -

Agreed it was worth a point for the cute factor, give those in hotter climates a chance, I have detailed the snowman point a little more for us all:
'
One point for finding and posting a picture of a snowman in your Strava activity(one made of actual snow is preferable but a model of one you find on your travels is acceptable)

Looks like the location enable in settings did the trick because the photos are now linked in the map overview.I'll post the workout in a bit. So nice outside I am considering a second ride later today.

Taken from the logging thread ....Just for the record some of these calorie numbers don't really work with the amount of time on the bike! If you have a power meter then the numbers are REAL. SO 2hrs on the bike at averaging 170 watts weighted can only give you 1200 calories or so! If you don't have a power meter and go by Heart rate or Stava etc. if you don't input the proper weight / Height etc AGAIN the numbers are crap..Not complaining at all but watts are watts whether you weigh 130lbs or 200 lbs. How much you average per hr is the same. At the end of the day there YOUR numbers but are they real? So using MFP based on your calorie burn would be kidding yourself and not telling the true story. AGAIN this is not a complaint just observing. After racing for 13 years and helping coach people i just like folks to have a TRUE reading of there efforts..... Have a great day and enjoy..
My ten penith for what it's worth:
I think calorie burn is a hugely divisive subject and is personal to that individual, my only rule on this is simple, report what you think is an honest reflection of your effort and what you would use in your diary, I'm not about to police what people consider what is a reasonable burn unless I see something ridiculous and I'll question the person on it directly.
I do think this is a good opportunity to take into consideration what you burn compared to what others do, for me it's anything between 1000-1500 calories per 2 hrs depending on how hard I'm hitting it.
Please can I ask you Stick any discussion statements in the discussion thread, the logging thread needs to be kept as ... well erm a logging thread.

sorry for messing up the entries thread Jas... I just get so bloody irritated when people moan about challenges that OTHER PEOPLE are putting in all the hard work on. As I said in the other thread ... " if you don't like it, *kitten* off and organise your own challenge. He's doing the graft, he gets to set the rules, and you don't get to whine, b!tch, piss and moan about them." That Goes when I'm running my own challenges, and I would expect anyone else who's putting the graft in to be extended the same courtesy.

I do quite agree, and to be honest moaning / people shouting 'not fair' rubs my rhubard and is the single hardest thing to do when running this challenge is to keep this at bay as much as possible while trying to make the challenge interesting, I'm happy for anyone to opt out if they don't agree with anything, it's not a problem, this challenge and me for that matter isn't for everyone.
My advice for anyone reading this is not to worry about what others are doing, just get out there on the bike and kick *kitten* as best you can and report as honestly as you can.
Ride on.0 -

Seconded! Carried!0 -
Is there a bonus to go with the highest logging bonus?0

Well derp.... I hopped on the trainer this evening to get in 20 more miles for a MC which I did, but was also trying to make the MTS and Climbing Challenge more obtainable only to see Zwift sessions don't count towards either. Understandable I guess, but still...it's doubtful I'll get either this month. *kicks rocks* lol0

Power meters aren't 100 per cent accurate either. I use Stages because I can't justify buying SRM or don't want a Power Tap. My Garmin asks me to calibrate the power meter every time I turn it on because the power meter performance is also dependant on the temperature at calibration; and to do it right you should leave your bike outside for 20 minutes before you ride so the temperature is ambient. Do I have time, or more to the point, can I be arsed doing this every time before I rode? No. Thus I know the power meter is giving me approximated results.
Also, I guess I'm at at a disadvantage weighing 65kg rather than somebody who is heavier as they'll no doubt burn more calories riding the same distance as I would on the same ride. This would be the same whether Watts or calories was the unit of currency for this challenge.
I'm not bothered by it because I have my own goals and they take priority over this friendly competition.
Now, would anyone be interesting in changing the competition measure to Watts/kg?

Once Again, If you don't like the metrics of this challenge, set up your own one, see how many people you can get to sign up... the more challenges that are going the better (within reason - 20 challenges may see people saying "screw that, I'm not entering my data that many times"...)
I'm not really fussed what metrics are used for a challenge, I just want to see a good number of people participating, getting out on their bikes and riding, and getting fitter over the closed season.

Perhaps the tongue-in-cheek meter is a little low on sensitivity today.0

Perhaps the tongue-in-cheek meter is a little low on sensitivity today.
lol I think the subject is again divisive and sensitive as it's all a bit negative.
Now my turn to moan, I've added this on the logging thread but I'll stick it here to just so everyone is aware:
LOGGING FORMAT - Any logging formats of your own invention will be skipped, time is previous so please don't let me have to spend extra time dragging the bits out the report that matter.
Invalid logs are now marked on the spreadsheet, three of these and it's exit from the challenge.

A list of any self declared bonus
A Strava entry must be declared firstly and then any supporting links like Garmin etc.
The reason we insist on a consistent format is so they can be checked and entered quickly, deviating from this format causes others to follow and we can finish wasting a lot of time.0 -
When your short on time and you have 20 new entries to add on the sheet any custom formats are incredibly irritating, anyone who's run a challenge on here will know this feeling well, it sucks I've had to add a three crap logs and your out rule but I've lost count of the number of times I've specified the logging format.
I realise people like to be expressive and god love them for it but please please please keep the logs as pure logs and add any funny stuff in here, god knows I could do with a laugh from time to time.

Yep I got caught by this one too, my aim was to do half indoors and half out but they changed it, it's unlikely I'll do a full MTS during Winter but I'll keep having a go.
Having done 1000km outdoors and 500km indoors for November it's a bit of a bugger I don't get the MTS but hey ho it encourages me to get out and face the elements.0 -
Perhaps the tongue-in-cheek meter is a little low on sensitivity today.
but my *kitten* meter is working Fine... and frankly, I think that Jas needs to toughen up and stop putting up with all the crap some of you lot are throwing his way.
I feel rather protective of these challenges, it has to be said, because for year's I've been running them myself - and it's taken a rather close to death experience to remind me that there's more to life than putting up with other peoples crap - especially when you're doing something to help them / provide them with a free service.
Again, I say it plain - don't like it - F UCK off, don't forget to ask for your membership refunding at the door... oh. wait...

Yep I'm a big softie, I've already had to chuck three riders off for joining in a challenge and then not giving a monkeys (+3 who opted out) and now applying a strict 3 crap logs and your out, this makes me as the organiser feel a bit crap to be honest so I'm asking everyone who's left on the challenge to do this:
1. Log at least once a week so I don't have to worry about chucking people off
2. Be positive, if you moan about how this is set up I'd prefer it if you walked.
3. When logging keep to the standard format, we are a month in now so no excuses.
4. Be respectful to those doing the admin work and abide by the decisions made.
Now let's focus on riding, doing our best in the leagues and hopefully have some fun in the process!0 -
The strava league bonus points for this week are:
A poor week for me but great to see lots of different names in the running and a stunning week from Joshua.0 -
So here we have our November Strava champions, no less then 14 riders, take a bow:
A couple of these riders have fallen from the challenge but they still deserve an honorary mention above.
Thanks to everyone who has taken part in November, here's hoping for a kick *kitten* December!0 -
Jakess1971 wrote: »Thanks to everyone who has taken part in November, here's hoping for a kick *kitten* December!
The thanks should be going to you, Jas, for all the organisation and work you're putting in (not to forget Clive for his help in adding rides to the spreadsheet as well)...
I know how much work goes into running a challenge with this many people participating - lets be clear - this is getting on for the same kind of data throughput as one of the Grand Tour Challenges, especially with all the bonuses and photo verification stuff, extra leagues and all the rest... And, I'll be honest, at the end of the 3 weeks of the Grand Tours, I'm bloody glad not to have to spend the first hour of my day keying in data. To take this up for a 4 MONTH time period is a hell of a commitment, and one that I personally applaud - and I think we need to do all we can to make this task easier for Jason. So - stick to the logging format as prescribed, log regularly, if you're going to vanish for a few days contact him and let him know so he's not hunting around for your data... you get the picture - be helpful -
And always remember folks...
You get the kind of community you deserve.
People who Put something Back into the Community are what hold it Together.
Without these people giving of their time, there wouldn't BE this Group, and there Wouldn't BE these Challenges.
I know it's a little late for Thanksgiving, but maybe we should all have a short flashback, and be thankful that there ARE people who give of their time and energies to make this place Better, More Interesting, and more Challenging.
Now, here's to a strong Winter/Off-Season for us all, and (hopefully) a strong start in the "Spring Classics" from March onwards... I certainly could do with a good season next year!
(and on a personal note, Jas... I'm really happy that you chose to take up the running of this challenge - I'd have hated it to not happen, but as i'm sure you're aware, I'm a little pre-occupied with other things at the moment to be able to devote the time and attention it deserves.)

It does take up more time then you expect, always the case though, I hope everyone who's left in this is now committed to the very end, the CAT leagues need you, hoping to see some real efforts on this one, nothing like promotion or the threat of relegation to keep things spicy.

If there was a like button in the community threads I'd use it! Yes, thanks to Jason for leading the charge on this challenge. I can't imagine the hours that it takes to compile/track all the data. I've told many people about the Winter Cycle Challenge and they all think it's a great thing... well except my husband who doesn't understanding why I'm at the gym for so long sometimes.0 -

Not as many hours as it does to try and keep up with Dave in the leaderboard!0 -
thought I'd better put something into this community after my last little rant.
So - here's something that may raise a smile at least.
