    Hi
I was not out walking today, The temperature is 21 degrees and that has a bitter feel to it when I stuck my head out the door. Yesterdays snow was wet and heavy and had a wet layer at the bottom of it due to the way the temperatures started out warm and dropped. I decided to stay home and avoid probable slippery conditions.

    Hi
I was out walking today and did 9800 steps, The temperature is 37 degrees and that is a fair amount warmer than yesterday. There was a coating of ice under any snow that was not shoveled.

I had a off day yesterday for Dinner. We ordered in from Joe's Meat Market, They deliver cooked foods or uncooked. I ordered the Market Steak with Peter Luger Steak Sauce that came with fries and a Home Made Cheesecake, Too Much foods, I felt overstuffed :(
My Brother had the Fish and Chips, and a Sausage Pizza. that is mostly for today's consumption.

I finished the Green Hornet radio shows from the 40s that were loaded on my iPod today while walking and right after I switched to classic rock it announced in my ear "Low Battery" so I need to do some volume leveling and load more Green Hornet etc, and then sync and charge the iPod.

    Have a Great Saturday

    Hi
I was out walking today and did 8092 steps, The temperature is 33 degrees and that is colder than yesterday. It drizzled for a few minutes while I was walking and the streets were wet when I went out the door. There is a possibility of freezing rain or sleet or rain for my area, They can not seem to make up their minds :) they are showing icy conditions north of me. Luckily It stayed only wet and the traction was good and most of the sidewalks were clear from yesterdays warm temperature. There was a raw feel to the air as there was a breeze, I had the hood up on the Hoodie and Rain jacket which It did drizzle somewhat.

I stopped at the grocery store and picked up some in the shell nuts and a couple of Black Plums for variety.

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit exactly 8700 steps at my return home :) The temperature is 34 degrees and that is a whopping 1 degree warmer than yesterday. The streets were looking dry when I went out the door. We had mostly rain yesterday where I am with a few icy pellets hitting the window a couple of times. The Local news reports last night showed icy conditions ans snow north of me. Some areas picked up a few inches if the white stuff.

I was able to work my around the few slippery spots I encountered.

    Hi
I was out walking today and currently I am at 9464 steps. The temperature is 28 degrees and that is colder than yesterday. Tomorrow is Senior Discount day at the Grocery Store so the plan is to stop in while walking and buy some Bananas and see what other fruits look good.

Today I had a Ready to drink Protein shake and as I was flattening the carton I wondered to myself am I the only one that leaves the lid loose, then flattens it and tightens the lids to keep them flat?

The KFC NZ page uploaded a photo two days ago, requesting lovers to “tag the wind beneath your chicken wings” for a chance to win.

The two winners were notified in the comments of the post, with one posting to the page saying it was “being devoured...although such a shame to destroy something so beautiful.”

Meridian man's pet squirrel goes nuts on burglar
    From Here:
    http://www.kivitv.com/news/meridian-mans-pet-squirrel-goes-nuts-on-burglar

Adam Pearl walked into his Meridian home Tuesday and realized something didn't seem right.

"I came in the front door and I saw snow prints out in the front driveway going to the back of the house, so I thought something was awry because no one usually goes through the yard," said Pearl.

Pearl was immediately greeted by his pet squirrel Joey when he got home, but the he started noticing a few doors that would normally be closed were open.

After making his way to the back bedroom, his fear was confirmed once he stated looking at his gun safe.

"I started looking at it and saw the scratches that are around the locking area and at that point I knew somebody was definitely in here messing around," explained Pearl.

Pearl called Meridian Police and when officer Ashley Turner came out to take a look, Joey just had to say hello.

"During her investigations Joey had run in the bedroom just screwing around like he always does between her legs and kind of startled her," explained Pearl. She says whoa, what was that, and I said ahhh don't worry about that, that's just Joey, my pet squirrel ya know."

Officer Turner asked Pearl if Joey would bite.

"I said, well, he usually doesn't bite but you never know cause he is a squirrel," replied Pearl.

Officer Turner went on her way, only to return a few hours later with some of his stolen belongings and some unbelievable news.

"She said while she was questioning the individual he had scratches on his hands so she asked him 'did you get that from the squirrel' and he says yeah, damn thing kept attacking me and wouldn't stop until I left," said Pearl.

Now Joey is being hailed a hero.

"Nobody can believe it because who can say they have a squirrel that guards their house, which is crazy," said Pearl. "You can't ask for much more than that. He is a pain in the butt, but he is great."

Pearl said he thanked Joey by giving him his favorite treat, the candy whoppers!

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit 8,859steps. The temperature is 47 degrees vs 31 degrees yesterday and very nice for walking too.

I stopped for a light Breakfast while walking and had two Eggs, a slice of Bacon, a small slice of Ham and some Rye toast. I packaged up The Large Breakfast Sausage, Slice of Bacon and Home Fries and brought them home where my Brother will use them. He likes those Fat sausages, I never did. I bought that special since I felt like a taste of Bacon and Ham :)

Then I stopped at the grocery Store for three Bananas, Gala Apples and Bartlett Pears + saving 10cents for using the discount Key tag. I also looked at the price on shredded Wheat Whole Wheat & Bran Spoon size and made a note of the price so my brother can compare it with the Shop Rite price when he heads over there later. Whichever is cheaper will be the key, ShopRite Price or Local Grocery Store @ $3.89 - 10% on Wednesday when I stop there for more Bananas.

A huge misunderstanding’: Contractor guts wrong Fort Worth house

    FORT WORTH

When a TCU-area rental house was gutted last week, just before it was to be sold, the owners had lots of questions.

Thinking burglars had destroyed the house and taken all the fixtures, they called Fort Worth police to report the crime. Their plight — remarkable in part because of the thoroughness of the burglars, who took appliances, toilets, furniture, cabinets, shutters, doors, molding and even the doorbell — made the news in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Worse still, owners Lee and Lelia Beckelman, of the Houston area, had a contract to sell the house at 2736 Forest Park Blvd. Their son had lived there with roommates while he attended TCU, but he moved out in August and the last roommate left in October.

Their real estate agent found the place gutted Feb. 9. Essentially all that remained were walls, bathtubs and some of the flooring.

But as it turns out, the whole episode was an honest mistake.

As Fort Worth police were beginning the investigation, they got a phone call from a contractor who explained what happened, said Fort Worth Police Department Sgt. W.D. Paine.

The contractor told police that the man who owned a house at 2700 Forest Park Blvd. hired him to gut it, Paine said. When the contractor and crew arrived at the street, they saw what appeared to be an address on the curb, “2700 Forest Park Boulevard,” directly in front of a house.

The crew didn’t notice that the numbers on the house said 2736, not 2700.

“It was a huge misunderstanding,” Paine said.

The owner of 2700 Forest Park didn’t give the contractor any keys, and instructed him to just kick the door in to get inside, Paine said. The contractor did just that, and he and his crew removed almost everything inside over three days, during which they told neighbors they had been hired for the work.

Paine said police don’t intend to charge the contractor for the “big goof-up.”

“We can’t really file a criminal mischief charge because his intent wasn’t to deprive them of the property,” Paine said. “We’re leaving it up to the contractor and victim to settle it.”

Lelia Beckelman said Friday that they have spoken to the contractor. Neither the police nor the Beckelmans released the contractor’s name.

“He feels really bad and is willing to make us whole and restore things,” she said. “He’s an honest guy.”

Paine said the contractor had offered to restore the house or even buy it for the selling price. Beckelman said it was listed for $369,000, but didn’t want to disclose the contract price.

She said the current plan is for the contractor to return everything that had been taken and restore the house, at the least.

“He is bending over backwards for us,” Beckelman said. “We are grateful that he was honest and admitted the mistake and wants to reconcile.”

Video: thief knocks himself out during store break-in

KRON, Ohio – Groups of thieves targeted Leprechaun Liquor Store on Manchester Road twice in one week, with one suspect appearing to knock himself out as he tried to make a getaway.
The break-ins were both captured on surveillance video.
In the most recent incident on February 19, video showed three men smashed a concrete block through the store’s front door and scrambling inside just before 4 a.m. They stole $1,000 in cigarettes, according to a police report.

With the alarm sounding as they rushed to leave, one suspect is seen falling over a counter door, where he appears to be unconscious. His accomplices left him there for a short time before one returned to drag the injured man out by his feet and then toss him in the back seat of a Pontiac Bonneville before the car drove away

I shall explain, When I left the house at 6:05 it was clear out, Then as I was getting my coffee the fog started moving in. Therefore I decided to head back to the house early. I figured as the visibility kept dropping that when I had to cross streets it would become less safe as I could not see them as far away nor they Me. RICHMOND, Va., -- An unwed and single Richmond man wants to warn the public about a letter he received claiming he cheated on his wife.

“I thought, who was this mystery wife that I don’t have?" Matt Edwards asked. "This must be a scam. I don’t have a wife.”

    Snipped
The letter reads, "I’m going to cut to the chase. I know you have cheated on your wife. More importantly I have evidence of the infidelity."

The scammer then gives the victim two options – to pay $2,000 through an electronic online Bitcoin money account or the “evidence” of the infidelity would be sent to the victim’s friends and family.

Hairdryers used to strike blow against speeders in Hopeman
    23 February 2017
From the section NE Scotland, Orkney & Shetland

Villagers dressed in fluorescent jackets are pointing hairdryers at cars to mimic police using speed cameras in a bid to deter fast drivers in Moray.

Residents of Hopeman fear someone could be seriously injured or killed by speeding drivers.

It follows concern about cars reaching speeds of up to 60mph as they travel through the area. There is a long straight leading out of the village.

Residents including children have now resorted to the hairdryers.

    'Please slow down'

Moray councillor Dennis Slater, who lives in Hopeman, told BBC Scotland: "It's very dangerous, the speed that the traffic is doing through Hopeman is quite serious, especially when the kids are going to school in the morning - it's quite alarming.

"This is why some of the residents have resorted to taking out hairdryers and putting on hi-vis vests to try to slow the traffic down.

"We don't like to be seen standing with hairdryers and hi-vis vests, we are trying to emphasise to people the desperate situation.

"Please slow down going through our community."

    'Aware of complaints'

Police Scotland said in a statement: "Road safety is a priority for Police Scotland, particularly for North East division.

"We are aware of complaints regarding speeding in Hopeman, which we are continuing to address.

"This aligns with one of our divisional priorities and supports Operation Cedar, which concentrates on reducing the number of serious and fatal road traffic incidents within the North East area."

Moray Council said it was a matter for Police Scotland.

    http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/bees-can-learn-play-soccer-score-one-insect-intelligence-180962292/
Bees Can Learn to Play “Soccer.” Score One for Insect Intelligence
Bees, despite their sesame seed-sized brains, are smarter than we think.
    Related Content in the article

“Often people view insects as unthinking machines,” says Clint Perry, a biologist who studies the evolution of cognition in insects at Queen Mary University of London. Science has recently challenged that human-centric assumption, by revealing that the busy buzzers can use tools, count to four, learn “foreign languages" and even experience some semblance of sugar-derived happiness—traits usually associated with larger-brained animals.

Now, Perry and his colleagues have released the results of a creative new experiment in which they essentially taught bumblebees how to play "bee soccer." The insects’ ability to grasp this novel task is a big score for insect intelligence, demonstrating that they’re even more complex thinkers than we thought. Moreover, they did it all not just in spite of their tiny brains—but because of them.

For the study, published in the February 23 issue of Science, researchers gave a group of bees a novel goal (literally): to move a ball about half their size into a designated target area. The idea was to present them with a task that they would never have encountered in nature. Not only did the bees succeed at this challenge—earning them a sugary treat—but they astonished researchers by figuring out how to meet their new goal in several different ways.

Some bees succeeded at getting their ball into the goal with no demonstration at all, or by first watching the ball move on its own. But the ones that watched other bees successfully complete the game learned to play more quickly and easily. Most impressively, the insects didn't simply copy each other—they watched their companions do it, then figured out on their own how to accomplish the task even more efficiently using their own techniques.

The results show that bees can master complex, social behaviors without any prior experience—which could be a boon in a world where they face vast ecological changes and pressures.

Speaking of Subway more on the web page...
    http://bgr.com/2017/03/01/subway-chicken-sandwich-dna-50/
Spoiler Alert: Subway chicken sandwiches are only 50% chicken, but they’re still 100% delicious
According to a troubling report from the CBC, DNA testing on Subway’s oven-roasted chicken found that the patty only contains about 50% chicken. As for what comprises the remaining 50%, well, let’s just say I’d rather not know. The oven-roasted chicken, though, wasn’t the only offending item on Subway’s menu. Similar DNA testing found Subway’s Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki strips are only 42% chicken.

While it’s not realistic to expect a menu item at a fast food joint to be 100% pure chicken — marinades and other add-ons can easily dilute the results — 40% is simply inexcusable. Subway’s performance here is even more glaring given that chicken dishes tested at other fast food establishments scored much higher. McDonald’s grilled Country Chicken sandwich, for example, was found to be about 85% chicken.

Subway has since come out and refuted the CBC’s findings, while at the same time promising to look into the matter.

“The accusations made by CBC Marketplace about the content of our chicken are absolutely false and misleading,” Subway said in a statement provided to Consumer Affairs. “Our chicken is 100% white meat with seasonings, marinated and delivered to our stores as a finished, cooked product.

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit 7k steps. The temperature was 21 degrees vs 31 degrees yesterday and was a bit nippy for walking, The Feel of the temperature was about the same as yesterday due to little wind so far. We had a dusting of snow yesterday by 8PM which has mostly disappeared overnight with traces showing on lawns.

    From Here: https://taxfoundation.org/how-high-are-property-taxes-your-state/
Also they have a map showing states rates :)
New Jersey has the highest effective rate at 2.38% and is followed closely by Illinois (2.32%), New Hampshire (2.15%), and Connecticut (1.98%). On the other end of the spectrum, Hawaii has the lowest effective rate at 0.28%, and is followed closely by Alabama (0.43%), Louisiana (0.51%), and Delaware (0.55%). How does your state compare?

Yea, We are Number One :(
Not a number one I wanted to see either.

    Have a Great Weekend

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit 7k steps so far and The temperature was 15 degrees vs 21 degrees yesterday and was a bit nippy for walking despite wearing the new Thermal Tops and Bottoms. The Bottoms were delivered yesterday, I ordered Yesterday morning and paid the $5.99 for same day delivery due to the weather forecast. FWIW My front porch showed 12 degrees vs the 15 degrees on the Cable News Channel at 6AM and they also reported a wind chill of 0 degrees in a nearby town. I was comfortable between the Thermals, Heated Mittens, two layers of sweatshirts and a Hoodie :)

The Sun is shining and I did hear a woodpecker pecking away and some birds singing despite the cold as I was walking.

    Have a Great Sunday

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit 8,480 steps so far and The temperature was 21 degrees vs 15 degrees yesterday and was OK for walking as there was no wind.

Today is Oreo Cookie Day, 100 Years ago the first Oreo Cookie was sold to a grocer in NJ, I heard that on the cable News Channel, Also i is National Dentist Day :)

I have been cleaning out the basement Freezer. I did not realize that some things had slipped to the bottom of it. I pulled a NS Banana Nut Muffin and a NS Blueberry Muffin both from my 7th delivery. I know that since I had marked the delivery number on them. Both of them had Enjoy By Dates of December 2014 :)
Despite that having been frozen they were tasty when I warmed them. I warm up all the NS Baked Goods.

    Have a Great Monday

In the weird news., To Me :) department, from Here:
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-03-04/house-was-3d-printed-under-24-hours-cost-just-10000
This House Was 3D-Printed In Under 24 Hours At A Cost Of Just $10,000
While 3D-printing may have been faded away in recent years from the spotlight of core "disruptive" technologies, that may soon change again after a company managed to 3D-print an entire house in just 24 hours. Located in Russia, the following 400-square-foot home, or 37 square meters, was built in just a day, at a cost of slightly over $10,000.

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit 7.1K steps so far and The temperature was 51 degrees vs 21 degrees yesterday and there was a wind. I had dressed for the temperature and with the wind it was a little chilly. I will be going back out to Costco later on for Vegetables,Kleenex and Vitamins. Then on to the ShopRite for few things, 7 or 8 including Bananas and whatever fruit looks good at a decent price so I expect to get my steps in.

    Have a Great Wednesday

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit 7.9K steps and The temperature was 51 degrees vs 51 degrees yesterday and there was a wind. I did dress for the temperature and the wind chill. I ended up with nearly 12K steps yesterday by the end of the day.

Today is the last day to change my NS order and that has to be by 6PM at that. I would love to delay it further however I have delayed it all I can as is.

A stray thought, Am I the only one that picks up discarded garbage and throws it into the garbage cans at the curb I pass on Garbage day or Discarded Recyclable litter and throws it into the recycle bins at the curb on recycle day while walking ?

    Have a Great Thursday

    Hi
I was out walking today and hit 6.9K steps and The temperature was 43 degrees vs 51 degrees yesterday. I had started back from the furthest point on my walk when the first stray snow flake went past me at 6:35AM.
Withing 5 minutes it was snowing steady so I shortened my return leg just in case. So far 1 hour later it is still not sticking so I suppose I could have gone the full distance, Safety first however. The Snow started much later where I am than the original forecast time for where I am and that was on the evening news last night :)

    Have a Great Friday
