tuesday was good...food on target, it was hard but I stuck it out and made it work...exercise was done, except stretching, which to be fair, it's killing calories and it was exhausting just getting through the other 2 workouts...

today is planned but D&D is going to interfere with my makeup workouts, so I'll focus on just doing the real workout and maybe shift the makeup ones to next week or the weekend if needed.

Wednesday was great, and also very very bad...I did 2 hard workouts, even though I was pressed for time...did D&D...then stayed up late building a fire and warming the house while sipping on hard lemonade...followed by sleep that was amazing except for 1 hot flash that woke me up to strip off the covers...

problem is, yesterday was also about 1100 cals over maintenance, and that's no bueno

I only run a deficit of about 1600 cals a week, so that will wipe out most of the week...and after last week was mostly maintenance as well, that's going to leave me with 2 weeks of very little progress and a lot of struggle for nothing because of one careless day where I didn't pre-log...but at least I did log after the fact, and at least I do have a plan for today, and I always have the option of getting back on track and not letting one day turn into an excuse to never have any progress.

Today will be double cardio/abs...and I have planned my food accordingly...and I will need some stretching before bed...next week I will need to try and step up the food adherence A LOT and also start putting in some bonus workouts since this week was kind of full making up workouts I missed between feeling ick and being at the beach house sanding the floor.

MFP won't let me post or comment on anyone's post...good job not working!

    At least it's free!

Thursday went well, 2 cardio workouts plus stretching, that's awesome...today I snuck in 2 workouts, back and glutes...tonight's food is planned and if it goes as planned it will be a poverty day, which is good because I went over earlier this week and so having an extra poverty day will be at least a step in the right direction...plus, depending on how things go with the track meet tomorrow it may or may not be a maintenance day...we are supposed to take the young man out to eat after his meet, so who knows where he will want to go or what will be available that's relatively low calorie...it is a college town, so I would like to bank a maintenance day just in case, and an extra one is always a win!!!

Thinking about cutting maintenance down to just Monday and Friday for the rest of the month...might give it a go for a week and see how it feels...

Sunday is D&D which is an event that I'm usually too busy tracking all the play to bother with snacking, so that's a good thing...just have to figure out how to fit in the workouts and such around the weirdly busy schedule!

Friday was not poverty, Friday ended maintenance...Saturday ended maintenance...Sunday was poverty...Monday was poverty...going to go poverty until Friday and then allow another maintenance day...

on the plus side NAILED the workouts

and the man child placed first in the meet for the 800...2:02.02 is was pretty awesome to watch...

Monday and Tuesday were good...Monday was poverty and Tuesday was maintenance, but I'll take slow loss over no loss and I was sooooo hungry...workouts were through the roof amazing!!!

Wed was good...poverty plus workout, plus tons of shopping at Lowes to get all the things to start fixing up the house for sale...super stoked about all that...

Thursday might be a super intense workout day because I've decided to try to go to the beach house and do the poly this weekend, so I need to try to get ahead of the workouts or I'm going to be super far behind...also need to eat at poverty, but eat well so that I can recover from all the workouts and survive the intense day I have scheduled...yikes...tough, but doable...

    Thurs/Fri were maintenance

Sat was low but not poverty low

    Sun was poverty as planned

This is pretty good for a weekend at the beach, where we are doing a lot of work on the house and mostly eating out just because of convenience and a general lack of desire to have to cook after a full day of manual labor....five coats of polyeurethane on the floor are awesome for one weekend!

Coming weekend is more beach time, painting the wall and getting the yard issues started - there are hella sticks down in the yard, plus I need to move some of the greenery and build some paths for walking, oh and even just starting on the landscaping of the backyard would be nice.

so...plan this week is mon-thurs all poverty...weekend will likely be all maintenance, though with the seafood places open I could keep it to poverty if I stick to the steamed seafood and salad plan...hmmmm...Friday maintenance, would like to try sat/sun poverty...we'll see how it goes

Monday was mostly good...did my chest workout as scheduled, and made up glutes from sunday's schedule...calories were not quite poverty, but only off by about 100 cals, which isn't a ton...and mostly good nutrition...so, all in all not bad and definitely a step in the right direction.

Looking forward to measurements this weekend, it does visually look like I'm loosing some fat in the front of my belly below my ribcage...my skin is getting that deflated look that seems to show up immediately after fat loss, so I'm hopeful that this week won't be a mediocre as last week.

Tuesday, very good...weights plus cardio...too tired for stretching, but I need to stop skipping that all the time, my flexibility will certainly suffer...so strong an urge to snack and munch, but I resisted and kept calories into target levels.

I jumped on the scale this morning and was 145...no way I went from 160 to 145 so, time to replace the batteries, it MUST be broken. Not with basically no measurement changes, just no freaking way...

It will be nice when I can go back to the calipers for measurements...I could probably shift to that now, but really, I have some inches around I'd like to lose so we aren't down to the tiny fatty bits yet.

so, today is st patty's day, which is kind of a sad day to have to stick to poverty calories, but I'll just load up on the veg and keep the meat/bread to reasonable amounts!

Wed was good...kept food on track despite the temptation of a holiday and game night...super proud of myself for doing that, it wasn't even a challenge, so this is getting easier over time...also did Arms...

thinking about doubling up today since I'll be gone to the other house over the weekend...if I do cardio/abs at lunch, then back after work, I can do glutes tomorrow at lunch and that will at least do both the friday workouts and leave me just sat to makeup assuming I do sun after we get home...things that make you go hmmmmm...

Another mediocre checkpoint...but this one after a good week of sticking to plan...boobs are up, which likely means some water retention from impending pms week has started...

belly button was down half an inch, as was hips...no progress on lower belly, but my ribs and upper abs are definitely getting more defined...

will definitely stick it out and keep on keeping on...just super annoyed that we're back to the unstable measurements due to stupid monthly trash

    it is what it is

Weekend was good...my tracking on Saturday wasn't exactly right, a lot of guesswork in eating out and late night snacking and such...Friday was right on target, as was Sunday, so I'm not going to fret too much about one poorly tracked day and a maintenance day to boot...I think the 5 days of poverty and 2 days of maintenance is working out so far, and it makes the beach things so much easier since we are usually doing stuff and don't typically have a lot of time for cooking.

Back on the poverty train and looking forward to results (or not given the time of month) on Friday...

Going to Passover at a friend's house, which is super cool, I don't know much about it, but there's wine and some terrible version of bread, so I can live with that...I also have to bring horseradish and a flourless chocolate torte to share - never made one of those, but I legit have a 3 ingredient recipe, so hopefully it all comes out delicious!!!

yesterday was kind of a relaxing day

only worked 3 hours then spent forever in a car going up to tysons corner and back to get my darling husband the covid vaccine...had a nice lunch at the mall from panda express...wow, logged those calories too late...went and got taxes done...skipped dinner, but then had a big big midnight snack because when we got home from the tax lady at 11pm, I was super super hungry...

so...I'll be eating salad and more salad and even more salad today for meals to offset what I already ate at midnight

and I need to sort out workouts because I think I'm like 2 days behind now with the weekend travel and yesterday's travel

time to buckle down and get it done before the end of the month and a new checkpoint

yesterday was hard but also satisfying...i managed to stick to my food goals which was a challenge, particularly on double workouts, but also it's good to flex those willpower muscles and find them still working

I did pick up mini cinnamon rolls at costco, and white cheddar cheese balls at food lion, so while shopping hungry wasn't a complete disaster, it probably could have been better

had a splurge yesterday...it started when we went valentines day shopping and then decided to hang at the brewery to avoid rush hour traffic...then went home hungry and snacking...then had a late dinner...on the plus side, I did log stuff and so I'm about 500 cals over maintenance for the day but at least I know what the damage is...guess I'll flip friday to a poverty day because I just wiped out one of my existing ones...that will be a nice way to balance it out...<sigh>

also grandbabyMomma is ignoring me and refusing to let me see the baby...so much for that whole, I won't block your access to your grandchild no matter what happens between your son and I...guess now that he got tired of being used for money and moved out and she's moved the sideBoy in to replace him, we don't seem to be welcome in her house anymore...whatever chick...

community is working but everything else mfp is down

this is why I use fatsecret for food tracking, it's just so much more reliable and it works on my phone which mfp doesn't manage more than half the time

yesterday was a struggle and too much food so a maintenance day

    bummer

today is totally 100% on board with the struggle train and keeping to poverty calories

I had zero energy for my workout today...likely just due to reduced carbs

allergies are gone though, keto works like magic for that

that bloated cow blimp feeling...don'cha just love this time of month

    so many UGHs

yesterday was seder, which was awesome and I didn't track, but I did eat sensibly and I did have a great time...also played poetry for neanderthals and some dream house game afterward, which was a ton of fun

post-seder was a dramatic loss of appetite...I did shoulders, even though the shot shoulder was sore, it was still quite possible and I didn't even have to reduce weights or anything...also, considering upping that workout somewhere...in cut calories I typically don't increase weights, but that workout is just getting too easy and it's time to go up a bit...maybe I'll just increase one set or something not crazy...also heading into the last month of beast, so the workouts will start swapping between build and bulk, so that might make it more of a challenge...typically the end feels harder

of course, I usually do this routine as a bulk so I'm adding weights all the time, not as a cut where I'm keeping weights the same...also looking forward to May-July and the *new* routine of P90X3 merged with Beast, since that will be both different and hopefully net some awesome results...i find X3 to be kind of tedious and repetitive by itself, plus it definitely lacks the hard core lifting that Beast has, so it seems like a great fit...and I will likely add in some extra glute days as needed...plus some extra stretching...

not that I've been good about actually DOING the stretching the last month...<sigh>

yesterday was a struggle...did some snacking after my second workout...

    unplanned snacking

    unaccounted for snacking

    didn't log first

so...after I logged that...my options for dinner were beef and lettuce...3rd salad of the day achievement unlocked

And that wasn't super satisfying and we were watching Race, which is a fantastic movie by the way, and so I had some spiced green tea to offset the munching urge...

good not to go crazy on the snacking
good to keep to calorie goals
bad tiffy for snacking unplanned in the first place

    live and learn

had to do some last minute swapping of food, but still it was a decent day and I managed to splurge and have some chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream...

so yum!!! and also, still on plan...it's magic...but not rocket science...

Yesterday was maintenance...we went and picked up the college boy and that was fun, but it meant a pre-road trip snack, and a return food plus vitamins because I was crazy hungry...plus, it was kind of nice to change it up, I've not done measurements yet from the sun-thurs poverty but it really doesn't matter when I do my maintenance days as long as there are only 3 of them a week...definitely need a maintenance day on Sunday for EASTER!!!!

    tcunbeliever Posts: 8,219 Member
Measurements were mediocre...basically the same as 3/7...mind you, it's lucifers waterfall and some of that may be bloat, but also in counting out March only 12-13 poverty days for the month, so that's just a whole lot of not keeping to the food goals, and a whole month of work for only about a pound of loss...

such a struggle to keep on target...I really need to get more on that and find a plan that fits a bit better maybe...think I'll go back to eggs for breakfast, I do think in some ways they held up better than salad does, just seem to fuel the lunch workout better too...either that or go back to skipping breakfast and do my training fasted...that was a solid plan back when I didn't have a morning appetite...

Some loss, no matter how small is better than none...just need to find a way to make this less of a horrible awful struggle...and I did a couple weeks of mostly maintenance at the end of February, so I don't need a break, I just need to keep to the plan!

yesterday was good for a LW day...got some walking done, and even some extra walking, and some stairs, and the planned workouts...and all that fun stuff...so that's kind of cool...even managed to fit in a cupcake and a cup of hot cocoa and colored eggs and all that fun stuff...it was cool and I reviewed my Jan-Mar calories and realized that I am definitely averaging more calories, so I really need to tighten up and get some results...also tweaked the next 90 day plan...May-July to add in more glute/leg days because that rear end needs some perking up for sure...

    so...plan for April...

    Finish up Beast
cut the poverty days down another 200 calories
stick to all 4 poverty days

honestly, I've BEEN doing the workouts, and tracking the food and sticking to the required number of poverty days, and I'm seeing just tiny tiny improvements...so cutting out another 800 cals a week, that should help, right???

that's 3200 cals a month, so almost an extra pound...and it's already so hard to do anything on a poverty day, I need my maintenance days to keep me sane, but skimping a bit more on poverty, that's not too hard, way easier than trying to live without maintenance days or trying to cut those back...I need them for sanity and ease of life...fitting special occasions into a maintenance day is part of what keeps me adherent...

I might try fitting only 2 maintenance days and doing 5 poverty days...we'll see how that goes...not sure that will last a whole month, but I'll give it a go this week and see if that feels doable...

well, I did my workouts, I kept my food on target, I did a bunch of gardening...

was supposed to build a deck at a friends on Saturday and was holding that as a maintenance day after doing Monday as a maintenance day...but now it's going to rain all weekend and I'm going to take off Thursday to build the deck...so Mon/Thurs as maintenance and a whole weekend where I might go to the beach and yet I need to stay at poverty levels...

that's a seafood weekend for sure...I can eat quite well if I get a salad and some seafood and eat that and skip the million other sides...I can do that...I might be going alone, so that's kind of nice, some alone time for me!!!
  • tcunbeliever
    tcunbeliever Posts: 8,219 Member
yesterday was supposed to be back and glutes...well, after resurfacing a second story deck from 8am to 7pm, I can assure you I had plenty of back and glute work hauling 2x10x12 lumber up the stairs...as well as all the cutting and demolition and all that...

so no formal workouts, and ate at maintenance as planned...this is my second maintenance day of the week, so I need to be good over the weekend and not relax my vigilance...I'm starting to see some ab definition, so definitely want to keep on target,,,

this weekend...hmmm...I would like to go up to the beach house and trim the trees...I'd be going alone because everyone else has plans so eating will be a piece of cake...or a slice of seafood...plenty of protein and not much in calories for shrimp and fish and crab...so yum...

workouts though, that's tough...today is supposed to be arms, which I can do at lunch time before I travel...tomorrow is cardio/abs/stretching and sunday is combat/glutes...I guess I could plan to do glutes when I get home sunday...I might be able to do stretching tomorrow AFTER all the tree work...in fact, it might be nice to get some stretching in and would feel lovely right before bed...then I could tack on the cardio and combat as a second workout for Monday and Wednesday...I think Tues and Thurs already have 2 workouts, but I could squeeze them in...

yes, that sounds like a plan...let me go write that down...

so, tree trimming is on the agenda, and hopefully all goes well

so this past week was mostly maintenance...only 2 poverty days instead of the planned 4...pms symptoms are crazy and it's too early so I'm super tired of it...but, next week will be better!!!
  • tcunbeliever
    tcunbeliever Posts: 8,219 Member
4/2 LW - just logging here to keep track of it...been in perpetual PMS since about 4/9 so if this doesn't calm down after the next LW, then I'll have to go see gyn as this is *kitten* and I have no desire to put up with it

finally popped on the scale today, down 3 lbs...which is AMAZING...didn't do measurements, maybe I'll get all motivated and do those tomorrow...so nice to see some progress finally...

Been pretty good regarding maintenance vs poverty days, and finally got around to setting fat secret to poverty levels instead of maintenance levels so I can see an easy red/green when I review my months...anything easy is best for adherence...

this week maint days are wed and sat, and that's good because sat is family birthday get togethers and I'm terrible at tracking those anyway...I'm going to be lazy and make a chocolate flourless cake and then just go pick up sushi and maybe some mochi at wegman's

totally my idea of celebrating...and it will be outdoor and the weather is slated to be nice, which is awesome

4/16 new LW - way too soon

week was good...5 poverty days which turned out to be pretty easy since LW hit with zero appetite this month and made some of those poverty days a breeze instead of a challenge...it's always nice when it's a bit easier...

workouts were all done except the weekend...no energy sat or sun plus social things scheduled...normally I would push and get up early and such to do the workouts, but I was just so dead tired, I skipped them...nothing major was missed, some cardio, and some glutes...if I'm up to it I'll shove them in this week and do doubles a couple time...if I don't catch up I'm not going to sweat it because this once a month (sorta) thing is a super pain in the patella...

all is well, I know I haven't been logging much and many times that means I'm off the wagon, but this time I'm totally on target, just busy and not getting on the pc much.
