Jean - gorgeous photo! I'm glad you had such a fantastic time.

Unfortunately they are probably right to worry about the election. I suspect anyone who isn't white and male and wealthy will suffer to some degree over the next few years at least and maybe for much longer.

It's amazing everything that's going on. Protests. Children being bullied at school and having to be kept home. College students threatened. Immigration lawyers with no idea how to advise people (there's a lot coming across already on my professional news feeds about this - they're even being bombarded with calls from naturalized citizens who are terrified). Doctors being bombarded by calls from women looking for IUDs that will last at least 4 years. Women stockpiling over the counter birth control. TV commentators who are worried about physical assault and loss of freedom of the press.

TV commentators are waiting for the orange fool to stand up and denounce bigotry. Methinks they are going to have a long wait.

I've had one bizarre reaction. I'm pretty much back on my diet. What the mental leap is there I can't figure. LOL!

Well, I've got almost everything for Thanksgiving Day and I started on the turkey corn soup list. Had a devil of a time finding turkey stock. Enough chicken stock to fill an above ground pool but almost no turkey stock. Do people just use chicken?

Kate McKinnon's opening for SNL this week paid tribute to Hillary's defeat and Leonard's passing:

So much for coming out and denouncing the bigotry. Apparently he thinks a full 1/3 of undocumented persons are criminals, gang members and drug dealers:

“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably two million, it could be even three million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate…. But we’re getting them out of our country, they’re here illegally.” (The orange blob)

Since every home improvement project in these parts is done by these folks, I wonder who's going to do all that work when the Donald is done. And who is going to do all the farm work?

I was surprised during the campaign that folks didn't do more to identify his workers who are documented. There have to be many.

    Good one, Pam!

For some reason all my cats are due for their annual vet visits this time of year. I can't do a whole lot about it without risking them not being current on rabies which would scare the heck out of me. Not because I think they'll get rabies but because I worry they might have to go to the ER and could nip someone. Tuffy goes today. He weighs 18 pounds and is TERRIBLE at the vet so this is going to be fun. NOT!

We have a new client who thinks he can demand everything ASAP. I'm already tired of it. This is our busy time of year. I work 7 days a week (except for CROM fund raising), there aren't any more days.

We do have a flea market this week so that will take some time away from work.

Well, Tuffy and I survived the trip to the vet. Luckily he doesn't need to go back for a year. Not even dental. He was just impossible though. And he's big and strong so it was a struggle.

I went to work today with feet swollen from the trip. This resulted in some tight shoes on a day that I had to do a lot of walking. The "dogs are barking." Midnight is happy to have me home.

Maryanne--Taking resistant cats to the vet is fun! NOT!! I had made special arrangements to pick Midnight up on a day the vet is no longer open but one of the assistants would be there to feed the animals. She couldn't get Midnight out of the cage so she came and asked me to see if I could get him. I have heard him growl but not for a long time; he definitely has good vocal cords. I succeeded in getting him out and in the carrier. He is a very strong cat also.

I haven't watched the news since Election Day. I think it is called avoidance. By the way, Puerto Rico elected its first woman governor.

This is a funny one which I didn't know. We ran into a person from Arkansas who now lives in Puerto Rico. He said the Little Rock Airport was renamed for Hillary and Bill Clinton, so it had become known as the "Hillbilly Airport." I thought perhaps that was a little far fetched, but I Googled it and that is its nickname.

I'm going to be feeding colonies one less day a week. The original caretaker is being given a break from chemo and she proposed taking over completely again but she still gets winded so I suggested she do three days a week for now. We'll be giving the other sub a complete break and I'll have one less day. That will give me a little break but I'll still have a chance to keep things clean and organized. Not that I'm OCD or anything. LOL!

I'm going to have dinner with a friend this evening. Haven't weighed myself yet this go round. That will be a shock I'm sure and not a pleasant one. Strange time of year to get back on a diet but it's time.

My van is loaded for the flea market so I have just the front seat. Decided to do 1/2 the grocery shopping today and finish tomorrow.

I also have a TON or work work to do and a TON of CROM paperwork. I hate this time of year. LOL!

I can see why you'd hate this time of year. You sound overloaded with all you have to do. I hope the flea market is worth it money-wise to justify all the work.

We just got back from a routine check up for DH with one of his doctors. He has 2 more check ups scheduled and then he's finished until June. I have 2 appointments for me in the next 3 weeks and then I'm done as well. Then we can start planning the trip south. Hopefully it will be be before any snow flies.

We had to jump through some hoops to renew the registration on the new truck, It's a vanity plate so it comes up for renewal every November even though we just got it in July. The biggest hassle is the renewal forms go to the leasing company and they are supposed to send them to us. About 10 days ago, I realized I never got anything from them. I called and was told it had been sent to me a while ago. The agent told me they could send me a power of attorney to take to the Registry and I should have the paperwork within 10 days. I got it yesterday and the original paperwork never did show up. It was a little complicated but I guess we weren't the only ones to show up with a power of attorney. They check you in at one station, give you a number like at the deli and call you to a window when it's your turn. The first woman who called us up said she couldn't process it because there was a delinquent charge on the record. I told her it must be an error and could she do a name search. She gave us another ticket and said that person had access to the name database and she didn't have access. We waited to be called again and that woman found nothing about any overdue charges. Who knows what the first woman did? Anyway, the second woman renewed us with no problem.

We'll be heading to NJ next week to spend Thanksgiving with family. We needed some audio books for the ride so DH is selecting while I jumped on the computer to post this.

I caught a little of James Corden last night n the Late, Late Show. He was showing a photo of Joe Biden when he was maybe in his 20s. Joe was serious hot! Maybe you can find it on a Google search. James said it was all over the Internet yesterday.

Helene--I didn't see a post but I did a Google search of Joe Biden when young. You are so right; he was hot!!

Maryanne--I think you have too many responsibilities at this time of the year. It is good that you are now able to step back on some, but it appears those will be replaced by others. Don't stress yourself out!

I worked today but have physical therapy tomorrow. I've really enjoyed these sessions, which is a surprise. I work Friday.

Today I had an appointment to get my eyebrows tattooed. As I've gotten older they have gotten so thin and gray that I almost had no eyebrows at all, and I was so tired of drawing them on and trying to find a product that looked normal. A friend had hers done several months ago and they looked really good, so it made me feel like trying it. Then I got a Groupon deal on it so that sealed the deal. It was a little bit painful, but not unbearable. Right now they are extremely dark, but I've been assured they will fade at least three shades in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, DH said I look like Groucho Marx, minus the mustache and dark framed glasses. I don't think he meant that as a compliment!

Tomorrow we are going down to Houston for a few days. Our nephew's wife and baby are flying over from France for a few days so we are going down to see them and DH's mother for an early Thanksgiving celebration.

Pam-- I do hope the tattoo works out well for the eyebrows. My brows are still so well-endowed that I get them waxed. Enjoy your trip to Houston and the early Thanksgiving celebration.

I have the physical therapy appointment today in the city. Also, my NS auto-delivery will arrive today. I get a shipment about every 3 months. I've considered going on a la carte but 35 days of food for $259 is a good deal...and if the supermarket ceases to do business this might be a good source of food supplemented by what I pick up in the city. I'm about to run out of those Costco $100 for $50 certificates. I haven't ordered any of those during the last year,

Jean - how are you liking your physical therapist?

Pam - I'm trying to picture the eyebrows!

Helene - what did DH picture to listen to in the car? Mine only listens to oldies music. I'd never get him to listen to an audiobook. Me, I'm currently listening to the first Alison Brennan Max Revere book. I'm liking it enough I've ordered the others.

We did really well getting set up today. We had one less space and four less tables PLUS Bonnie only took 4 tubs per table instead of her usual 5. All told, we probably were done and out the earliest yet. Since we just had one 4 weeks ago I'd say it's enough!

What drives me crazy is they make no attempt to keep people out. We're trying to unpack and these folks with nothing to do are wandering around, poking, trying to negotiate prices (seriously? on Friday before the flea market even starts???)

The new People magazine came. Their Sexiest Man Alive cover. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

    No. Just.....no....

    Who would I nominate?

Well, now that Richard Gere is old (I know - pot/kettle/black) either Dylan McDermott or Matthew McConaughey (sp?).

But I guess it's better than last week's Trump cover which I promptly shredded.

I took Lola to the vet this morning. I just realized it was Monday of Thanksgiving week last year when I took Lola to the vet and came home to find DH playing with Sammy in the backyard. He tried to follow us into the house and the rest as they say is history! It was about a month later when no owners showed up that we brought him home. Maryanne

We're in CT overnight. We came down yesterday for an early dental appointment. I had an extraction and I'll be doing another implant down the road. The hard part was both of my extractions were complicated. Today's wasn't as bad as the one I had done last year but it still was pretty unpleasant. The tooth didn't want to budge so it came out in pieces with lots of pressure and tugging. I had no pain in the tooth area because of a large amount of Novocaine but the dentist had to put pressure on the other side of my face to get the leverage he needed. He must have been pressing a nerve because I thought my head would explode. He would stop every few minutes to give me a break. I needed 3 X-Rays to make sure it was all out. I asked him if I would be eating just mashed potatoes on Thursday. he laughed and said I'd be fine by then. I know this is nothing compared to what Pam has been through. I'm thankful this was as bad as it got.

Helene, that sounded terrible! I'm so sorry it was so painful, but hopefully you will recover quickly. Mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving would be a terrible waste!

We went to Houston last Thursday and came home yesterday afternoon. Our niece and her son were visiting from France, and this was their first time back here since they left in July for their new adventure. It was nice to see them but spending time with an 18 month old toddler is a real test of one's patience! It think he has started his "terrible twos" phase early! We had an early Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday since we won't be going back for that holiday.

My eyebrows are looking more normal now and much less like Groucho Marx, thank goodness! I will need some touch ups on them as some areas don't have much color, but I was warned that this would likely be the case. I went ahead and made an appointment to do the touch ups, but I think it's not until after the first of the year. This lady stays booked up , so it's about a two month wait to get in to see her. In the meantime, I can use pencil or powders to fill in the blanks.

We are leaving on Wednesday to go to my sister's home for the holiday. We are planning to stay two nights and come back home on Friday. I plan to start putting out some Christmas decorations then. For the first time in a very long time, it looks like we will be staying home for Christmas. We usually spend it with DH's family, but this year we are not. My SIL is working that day, and her son and DIL and the baby are staying in France, so we will not go down for the holiday. We could go back to my sister's home, but neither of us is excited to do that, so I think we will just stay home. Hence, the desire to put out more Christmas decorations than I normally do, since we will actually be here to enjoy them.

Maryanne--When I heard Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was selected over the other candidates for sexiest man, I thought they had to be joking. Their idea of sexy isn't mine.

Helene--Sorry that you had the difficulty with the extraction Sounded like a very painful and uncomfortable situation. I do hope that it doesn't interfere with your Thanksgiving food enjoyment.

Pam--Enjoy your visit with your sister and the Christmas decorating afterwards. I do hope the brow touch up goes well when you finally get the appointment.

I've been busy with the PT appointments and yesterday had to have the podiatrist take care of a big toe nail problem. Tomorrow, I have a PT appointment and hopefully I can work in a nail appointment. My plans for Turkey Day is to treat it as another day.

Helene - that sounds really painful! I haven't had a tooth extracted since wisdom teeth when I was a teenager but remind me never to let them do it with me awake!

Pam - I love decorating although my efforts are nothing like a magazine. Just what makes me happy!

Jean - I hope you and Midnight enjoy your day. I'm curious to find out if Sammy likes turkey. This is his first Thanksgiving with us!

I have to go feed the colonies. Then I'll turn my attention to our turkey.

    Have a great day everyone!!

I wouldn't dream of going to a store today (not even a grocery store) but I did score two "Black Friday" deals (or maybe they're Cyber Monday deals, not sure). 40% off a pair of boots at Lands End (after not going outside in the winter much except the grocery store for six years, this year I have colonies to feed!) and a $50 gift card when I stocked up on bird seed on sale on drsfostersmith.com (which I believe is now owned by PETCO). I love feeding the birds and it's great entertainment for the cats. I feed sunflower chips (zero mess). Used to shop on duncraft but discovered drsfostersmith.com has much better prices and the seed is just as good. So I get my feeders at duncraft but have abandoned them for seed for the most part.

DH is fretting over the newish, youngish neighbors winter preparation and all the "mistakes" they are making. That's just the latest. Now that he's partially retired he's the neighborhood busy body. Always pacing and peeking out the windows. Luckily he doesn't do anything except mutter to me although I know he'd LOVE to go dispense his wisdom.

I haven't ventured out of the house since Wednesday I really hate fighting the traffic and crowds in the city. I did do some online shopping and had the items sent to the stores in the city. I'll pick them up tomorrow when I go for another PT session. The prices were too good to pass up these two items.

They keep adding things to my PT session so I'm now spending about an hour and half in each session. I am wiped out about an hour later as it takes time to hit me. The last one added is a big foam square on which they make me stand with eyes closed and no hands, etc on a support bar. There is no sensory input so the idea is to maintain balance without any outside clues. Sounds easy but isn't for me.

I've given up trying to lose weight while this is going on. The positive is that I have had no severe leg pain for a week but the lower back doesn't like the exercises but the protest doesn't last too long.
