I wonder why they decided the old eye test wasn't enough? It could be a hardship financially for some people ti have to pay for an eye exam to renew their license. I do regular eye care but my appointment is usually months before I need to do the license. It also makes more work for the eye doctors' I can't imagine they're too happy with having to fill out the online forms. It's just one more item in their workload. I'm out doing errands to wrap u everything before we leave on Tuesday. I'm checking things off my list and it's moving along. I won't panic until Monday if too many items are still on the list. Here's hoping. Today was clean the refrigerator and bring the trash to the dump. Yesterday was loads of laundry. Actually packing won't start until Christmas Day.

Pam..I meant to comment on that gorgeous cake. The birthday girl will feel really special getting that. I'm sure it will make her day.

Helene - you can still go to the MVA and get an eye test. I just don't want to. LOL!

Good morning, everyone! I got an early Christmas gift. I was "graduated" from physical therapy yesterday. I have exercises I am to continue at home. They said that I had achieved the goals for the therapy so there no longer was any need for professional help.

Jean..I'll bet you have mixed feelings on the graduation. Doing it in the professional setting, you get the motivation and the instant feedback. doing it at home, nobody is there to encourage and cheer you on. On the other hand, you won't have to make that long trip, saving time and money. I remember when you used to walk around the track at school. I was impressed with your dedication to it. I know you will do the same thing with the at home exercises. You've seen what a difference doing the exercises has on your back. And you'll be avoiding traveling for therapy on twisty, snowy roads.

I'll be starting actual packing today. We both do a big suitcase that travels to FL unopened. It's the summer clothes, etc. We have a smaller bag that we pack with things we need enroute. I'll wotk on the big bag today.

I enjoyed seeing my family today!

I hope everyone has a terrific Christmas day!

I hope each of you had a great Christmas. I spent the day with my niece, her children and grandchildren.

Maryanne--That is an interesting proposition but it can't be used with someone with nickel sensitivity which I do which some jewelry that contains it.

Helene--I do hope your preparations go smoothly for the trip South. The weather is great for travel right now.

I got an email promoting a BOGO for NS fozen food on the a la carte program.

Jean - that's too bad about the nickel sensitivity. I'm glad you made such progress with the p/t that you've graduated!

My sister sent pics of the snow in Sedona. I'm so bad on geography. I had no idea she was moving to snow. I can't imagine deliberately moving to snow at our age. They were in southern New Jersey so their weather wasn't all that extreme.

I'm hoping to get some work done today although with THREE colleagues (at least) out this week I have no clue what is going to land on me. We are a tiny firm. No clue how we can let three people take off at the same time. Of course we have no process for requesting time off. You just announce you're out. Which is why I'm never out. LOL!

Good morning. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and are enjoying some peaceful and quiet post holiday time. We spent a quiet day at home and enjoyed some home made lasagna for our holiday dinner. DH said it was better than Marie Callendar's, which is high praise from him, lol! The weather did not feel very holiday-ish as we set a record high temperature of 80 degrees yesterday. I think it is supposed to remain warm for the rest of the week. I don't understand the people who don't believe in climate change, given the weather patterns we have experienced over the past several years.

Today I will do some laundry and maybe some housework and tomorrow I may go with a friend to hit some post holiday sales. I don't really need anything, but it will be nice to get out of the house.

Jean, congrats on graduating from your PT. I know you are disciplined enough to continue the exercises at home. I still have two more appointments this week, then I expect to graduate as well. I keep forgetting to do my exercises at home, and I need to get better at that.

Helene, I hope you and your DH have a safe and uneventful drive to Florida. As Jean said, the weather is nice right now for your drive, so at least you won't have any worries in that area.

Maryanne, I hope your work load won't get too crazy this week. Hopefully, most of your firm's clients are taking the week off, too.

Pam - the climate change deniers were annoying but now that they are getting power they are terrifying. Trump's term could at least conceivably be long enough to put us past the point of no return. Makes me sort of glad I'm old.

Of course both my dad and my sister are actual scientists so we have a family propensity toward truth and science.

I had the most productive day today I've had in aeons! Totally quiet.

Tomorrow I take Smokie and Lola to the vet for dental work (feeding the colonies on the way). I'll pick them up Thursday morning.

We had chicken for Christmas dinner. Sammy seems interested in the smell but when you actually give him some he walks away. Go figure! He even stuck his nose up at the chicken livers. How he survived outside I have no clue.

We sort of feel like we have the street almost to ourselves. So many cars gone.

My sister emailed that they were taking their Big Blue (grey cat) to the vet today and expecting probably a recommendation to euthanize him. He's had a lot of good years for an FIV postive cat who showed up in their backyard.

A friend and I went to the city today to have lunch at the Outback and to use up the gift cards we had received for the Outback. While there, we heard that Carrie Fisher had died/

Maryanne--Sounds as if Sammy is a cat with picky tastes. I hope the dental work for Smokie and Lola went well. You put so much care into the fur babies. You are definitely an advocate for animals.

Pam--Congrats upon your coming graduation from PT. I'm not all that disciplined but I hope the memory of all the pain and numbness in legs and feet will motivate me to do what I need to do at home.

Today is the one year anniversary of the day I broke my ankle. Hard to believe that I'm still dealing with aspects of recovering from that a year later. Oh well, at least the end is (sort of) in sight.

A friend and I went to see "La La Land" today. Neither of us particularly liked it. The story really dragged in places and overall, the story just didn't flow well. I had high hopes for it, but was pretty disappointed by it. My friend felt the same way. I've always liked Emma Stone, but this was not one of her better efforts.

We delayed leaving for a day. It was raining here so loading the truck and driving in the rain wasn't appealing. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice. DH did something to his knee. I think it was too many trips up and down the stairs with boxes and luggage. I made him call the chiropractor and he's working him in tomorrow morning. DH didn't want to call. he was planning to tough it out which is crazy considering the amount of driving we'll be doing. Fortunately he listened to me. It cleared in the afternoon so we were able to get some loading one We'll finish it up in the morning.
Maryanne..What are they saying for weather Thurs/Fri? The northeast is supposed to get a mix of snow and rain. We'll be driving to northern VA Thursday and to Sc on Friday. What kind of weather can we expect.

Helene - rainy Thursday morning (high 43); windy Friday (high 38).

Pam - wow, a year since your accident. I can believe you are still dealing. I'm still dealing with breaking my heel and that happened in January 2001.

Pam--Time passes quickly but it seems unreal that you are still dealing with the results of the accident but sometimes it just takes time....and I am not one who is that patient.

Helene--I think your travel will be fine as you won't have mountains. We are expected to get a wintry mix in the flat areas but the mountainous areas west of your travel will get more.

I'm using the time to go through some stored items and determine what should go. This isn't my favorite activity so I need to do it while the motivation is there. I also need to pull out my mini-cycle and do a half hour while watching a program on Hulu.

Thanks for the weather update ladies. I'm glad we waited a day. The chiropractor was able to see DH just before hs office hours started. his knee was out of alignment and a little swollen. The doctor is a personal friend and he's always told me to call if I was in pain so I wasn't surprised he worked DH in. We're in CT overnight and heading for VA tomorrow. They were predicting snow in some parts of MA tomorrow afternoon so it looks like we got out of Dodge just in time.
Pam..It's hard to believe it's been a year and a couple of surgeries since your accident. I'm hoping 2017 is painfree and smooth sailing for you.

Hopefully we pass through any bad weather quickly. I decided not to bring a winter coat or boots on the trip. I brought a raincoat instead which I can layer over a sweater. We come back in early May so I sure won't need a winter coat the. My sister told me it was in the 70s in Sc 2 days ago and it was in the 40s when I let MA. We usually don't have a lot of excess room in the truck so not bringing something I'd only use or 2 days made sense.

I had trouble getting online last night. I ended going downstairs to use the computer in the business center. In talking to the desk clerk, he was able to do something remotely and I was able to log in at the room when I came upstairs. I I can get on tonight at the second hotel, I'll be back. Otherwise, I'll be sending greetings from SC on riday.

I have to go get Lola and Smokie this morning. Their dentals went well, no extractions. I'm sure they'll be glad to get home and we'll be glad to have them.

Something is suddenly wrong wiiiithi keyboard. I keep having to backspace over stuf like that. Guess I need my IT guy (aka DHHHHH).

Helene--Have a safe trip. I think you made a good decision about the heavy coat. You are in the truck most of the time and a quick run from the truck into a restaurant , etc. can be done without a heavy coat. It was in the low 40s today but I didn't use a coat.

Maryanne--That photo is hilarious! I love your sense of humor.

I went to the city today to renew my passport, etc. and also to load up on groceries. While in WalMart, I saw they had a box of Nutrisystem muffins at $5.49 a box with 4 muffins in a box. Now, when I check the NS site, the muffins individually on a la carte sell for $2.79 for one. Why would you order these from NS when they are far cheaper at WalMart? At $2.79 for one, four would be around $11 instead of the WarMart's $5.49.

Snow flurries here. I think the inside of the house is calling me; comfort rules today. We have 2 days left in this year; time passes so quickly. No resolutions here. I'm afraid to climb on the scales as I can pack on a lot of pounds without affecting clothes size.

Smokie and Lola are glad to be home! DH was so worried about his Smokie. He is moi relieved. The girls had to travel with me to the colonies on our way home. I didn't feed before I went to the vet because it was raining but it was supposed to stop and it did.

The vet failed to tell me that even though their procedure was Wednesday they both had bandages on their legs. That meant after I let them out of the carriers I had to chase them down. That further freaked them. But they calmed down after awhile.

I'm not making any resolutions either. But I know I'm tired of being tired. Maybe if I work on the food and the treadmill at least a little I can recapture some energy.

My freezers and pantry are overflowing. To the point I have no clue what I have, what the expiration dates are, etc. I'm thinking in January I need to work on making meals from what's here until I clear some of it out. Not a resolution, just a plan. LOL!

Today I need to hit the ATM to do a deposit, go to CROM's post office box, drop some stuff off at CROM's storage unit, and then go to the grocery store. I hope the store's not too mobbed. I don't feed today.

My keyboard seems to be fine. I have a feeling Tuffy was lying on the wrong part of it the other day. He wants to get between the monitor and the keyboard but the space just isn't big enough.

Maryanne--I think we have the same thoughts about using up the food that is on hand. I do have cheesecake here which I will lovingly finish before the New Year starts.

I've been spending the morning trying to declutter while I'm motivated. I'm using that Japanese method of looking at an item and asking the question, "Do I love it?" If not loved and not used for some time, it is finding a new home in the donation box, bags, etc. for me to take to the city the next time I go.

I walked out the front door this morning to do errands and it was snowing! I mentally started rating my errands on importance, which ones had to be done, which could wait. Before I was 1/2 way through the critical ones the sun came out!

I had my final PT appointment this morning. I think I've gotten some benefit from it, but not as much as I had hoped. However, I must admit I haven't been as diligent as I should have been in doing my exercises at home, so I have to accept responsibility for not improving more than I have. The therapist said he would keep my file open until after my next appointment with the doctor, which is around January 19th, I think, but he agreed that there isn't much more he could do for me. My "homework" assignment is to keep doing the exercises he gave me for stretching and balance as often as possible.

I had a surprise visit yesterday with one of my cousins and her husband. They live a couple of hours away but were in town because they were dropping his daughter and two grandsons off at the airport. Since we live about 15 minutes from it, she texted me as they were leaving the airport to see if we were home and if they could stop by. I enjoyed visiting with them, but you should have seen me running around the house frantically picking up and straightening up, as well as rushing to slap on some makeup and style my hair before they got here, lol! That'll teach me to sit around in my PJs instead of getting myself presentable first thing. As for the house, I greeted them at the door and told them it was the maid's year off.

DH has had a bad cold all week so he's been at home more than normal. I'm so glad we bought a TV for our game room for Christmas because he's spent most of his time up there, leaving me to watch what I like on the other one. I'm hoping I can avoid catching his cold, but today I'm not feeling real great, so I'm afraid I may be doomed to get it as well.
