Hello Everyone,
Welcome Back team 1 and those of you that are new welcome to team 1. Mauli3 -
Hello,
I am new but very excited to get to participate. I know a few of my fellow members Aggie, Lisa and Theresa. I hope to get to know the rest of you!

Hey team 1! I'm Kat, I'm new to this challenge and I'm looking forward to it! I've done some other challenge groups on MFP and I recognize a few names around here but not many. It will be fun to get to know everyone.
A little about me - I'm a 47 year-old (soon to turn 48) college professor. I joined MFP in May 2015 at my highest weight ever and suffering from some pretty major depression. I have since lost about 53 lbs and more importantly, became so much more active. I started running for the first time ever last Aug/September and last weekend I ran my first half marathon. Maybe my last half marathon It was hard, but I feel so proud that I did it. I'm now concentrating on keeping active and having more fun with running, rather than training for anything specific.
I also enjoy yoga and swimming. I keep trying to start weight training but it's been tough for me to commit to it. I'm a dog lover and just adopted a wonderful new little terrier mix, after losing my beloved 10 year-old Boston Terrier to cancer at the end of August. My new girl, Stella, is keeping me hopping and she is going to be a good walking and running buddy.
Can't wait to race with you all!

Did you say dog lover? I think you might find some good company here. Congrats on the half. Not an easy task.
I'll do a better intro later... just good to be back.
Good to see so many returning players. Our expectations are high... particularly since we are #1!

Nice to be back and excited to get going. It's going to be fun!

Welcome @TamiJo1004 and @katharmonic. I will be sending you friend requests. Usually one of the first week's steps is to friend each other. So glad we have so many familiar teammates and lots of names I recognize on the other teams. Once others start logging into the thread I will follow @vowder 's lead and do an introduction. Just want to get one thing out there - GO INDIANS!!! Two games ahead into the AL Championship. Looking towards the world series!!! Go Tribe---- Jodi (Maggie of the 120maggie is my black lab, but I answer to Maggie too)3

More about me I have been a MFP member since March 2015. I am 4'10" (short!) I am happily married (most days!) I have 2 children: Daylon-12, Kadence-8. We also have been raising my nephew, Braxxen, who will be 3 in December. When I started I lost real well and as within 10 lbs of my goal weight when we got my nephew and started having family drama. I am now 10 lbs lighter than when I started originally. I have my new Fitbit and I am ready to have fun and lose weight.
I also love my doggies. I have a 12 year old sheltie and a 4 year old chihuahua.4 -
I'm here! Sorry I've been AWOL for a while - this is a busy time of year at work, long days and long weeks. I'll hold off on the re-introduction until everyone is here, but I'm really looking forward to this.
Congrats to Kat on your first, and maybe last, half marathon. I walked my first one a year ago and somehow got conned into doing it again, so I'm off to Cocoa Beach on Thursday for the Cocoa Beach Half on Sunday. I hope I'm ready. I hope my knees will last 13.1 miles, and I hope they don't roll up the finish line before I get there!4 -
Great to see the new faces. Will write more tomorrow. Just getting home from a Halloween party!! Sleepy time for mama!!2

Hi Everybody glad to be back and be a part of team 1 family again.
Warm welcome to our new team members be prepared for a nice joyful funny race we are all a little "happy crazy".
For the new ones I'm Agnes (most of my friends call me aggie) and I'm from belgium I'm 45 years old and have a sweet boyfriend for 24 years now.
No children or pets just the two of us.
Original I'm from Rotterdam (the netherlands) but 15 years ago we decided to move to Belgium more house for the same money as in Rotterdam we want to emigrate further maybe to spain but decided to try belgium first no language problem.
So this is a good experiment so the next step maybe will be spain we will see.
I like to jog on the treadmill....doing kettlebell ....Bodycombat....Bodypump.....Lelie Sansone walks.....Cycling....and also swimming although we have not a nice swimmingpool in the neighbourhood.I begin MFP I believe in juli 2014 with 92 KG than I'm losing 12 KG but I gain 7 again and stay this year around 87 KG so I decided to reset my counter and go from here!
I'm really ready for the challenge hum hum I hope.
I counted the weeks till the end of the year 12 weeks to go and let my workoutsheet from les mill also be 12 weeks that must be a sign! I am really determined to loose at least 10KG for the end of the year and start 2017 very good and more healty.
Than in 2017 will be the challenge another 10KG.
I'm for sure that with the help from my sweet friends here and the challenge it will work!
So let us get ready and defend our no1 position.
I will sent all new members a friend request.
The Barbie's are already started and ken is also in the house lol Ken is Vowder in our story

Ohhhhhhhh I forgot my joke a lillte naughty but hey so the new one can't forget me
Mommy, what were you doing bouncing on Daddy's stomach last night?" "I have to do that, or Daddy's belly gets very fat. Bouncing keeps him skinny." "That's not going to work." "Why not?" "Because the babysitter keeps blowing him back up again."

Hi everyone!!!! I am one of the captains for this team. I am looking forward to getting going. I have been slacking lately and some of my weight seemed to have found its way back.
@120maggie, while they are currently my preference for taking it all, I am still a wee bit cranky about how they got there.
I will write more later when I have some more time.3 -
Good morning new friends and old.
I'll admit I've been in a slump lately. Really got lazy since the summer race ended. I've gained 5lbs since we were at the closing ceremonies in Rio. Although I wasn't going to sign up for the fall race because of my daughter getting married in Nov. and I'll be away for 7 days, I found myself missing the race and fun time I had. This is hopefully what will give me that kick in the butt I need to get myself active again.
I've been with MFP since May 31, 2015. I've lost 54.5lbs I still want to lose another 20lbs before I decide if I'm done and ready to maintain. I'm married to my best friend for 27yrs. and are empty nesters. Our youngest daughter moved out in August. Nothing really different for us without her living with us (although my upstairs has never been cleaner) We keep busy with our 3 german shepherds and 5 cats. This summer I had a bumper crop of tomatoes (for my growing season which is shorter with living on the shores of Lake Michigan) I got to can some spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes and corn/black bean salsa. We'll be set for the winter now.
I really enjoy Leslie Sansone workouts, riding the treadmill and taking walks in the great outdoors (a plus being on the lakeshore).
I can't wait to reconnect with the old members of Team 1 and get to know the new members. This is a real fun group that may tow the line at times with the conversations but its all in fun. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face when the bantering gets going. Oh yeah, and just an FYI to the new members we like to gather at the local 'watering hole' when we hit each destination and ogle the bartenders.
I'll be sending out friend requests for all my teammembers. Can't wait to see what tomorrows challenges will bring!!!!4 -
So I thought we were starting off in prison when I saw leaving from Leavenworth! I've been bad since the end of the last season but didn't think it was prison worthy!
Welcome to the new members-friends from Hogwarts and Biggest Loser as well as the folks I don't know yet. This is a really fun challenge and our team totally ruled last season! That means we have to hit it hard right off the bat because looking at the team rosters there are some serious competitors on those other teams and I want to win again!
My name is Angie. I'm 53, married for 25 years, 2 kids in college who are polar opposites in temperament, looks and life goals. The younger one causes lots of stress that's for sure! We also have an incredibly hyper chocolate lab named Bailey. I've been on MFP since August 2010. I lost 28 lbs and hit my goal weight in April 2011. Then vacations happened and 5 lbs came back. Then life went off the rails and another 5 lbs came back. Then life went off the deep end, fell off a cliff and got run over by a bus and menopause hit and 20 lbs came back. (You do the math-I weigh more now than when I started!!). Life is getting better though. I've had an amazing year of travel with more on the way and I want to get some of this pudge gone. I doubt I'll ever get back to my 2011 weight but as long as I can fit in most of my clothes I'd be happy. I haven't been on the scale lately because I'm trying not to let that drive my emotions and I've been doing a new lifting program. But it's always about the food for me so I think I will have to dust off the scale and re-shift my exercise priorities again.
For all you new folks-this challenge is fun but it IS supposed to challenge you, not everybody likes the dancing videos (@vowder and @ka97 looking at you!) but please do try them-they are worth a lot of points to the team! Also, modify any exercise challenges to your fitness/injury levels. If you have any questions our amazing leaders are very responsive as well as your teammates.
Can't wait to see where we are going first and I'll see you all in the bar! (And doesn't it figure-I'm going on a "real" trip on Wednesday so need to get as much done as possible before I leave!)3 -
Hello Team #1! It's so great to be back with "the gang"! I have gained 9 (yes, I did the math correctly, 9!) pounds since the Summer Heat Challenge ended! I didn't have anyone else to be accountable to, and was too lazy to be accountable to myself!
So I plan to really get my exercise minutes up there and my weight down there! My favorite choices of exercise are hiking with my Golden Retriever, Tara, and Zumba, which is also our teammate @ka97's favorite.
I'm wickedly short, 4'9", so every pound seems to really make a difference! I've been married for 17 years and Tara is our third fur baby. And she is spoiled rotten!
Welcome to our new teammates!! @AlethaMary, @ashleereign, @GSXRGIRL61, @katharmonic, @TamiJo1004, and @tonilogan...it is so fun to have you aboard! You'll find we are the craziest, yet most competitive team! It's all about having fun and trying new things!
I found a nice little cabin in Leavenworth where we can bunk down tonight while waiting for the race to begin. Anyone care to join me?

Am totally in! So can you give me a little more info on what all this entails? Dance videos? I know there is extra challenges but then every minute of exercise counts as a mile? So if I take a 30 minute walk before work and a 45 minute walk after work I have 75 miles that day? I am extremely competitive looks like I am going to fit right in!1
-
@TamiJo1004 -you got it! The minutes translate to miles and get us to our destination. The sooner we get there we can use our extra minutes for bonus points. Additionally there are usually 3 challenges. Two are worth 10 points each and the other worth 5. Those points can really help our team total and the reverse is true-not doing them can really hurt our team totals.
At least that's how it worked last season. They could come along and change things on us-they're sneaky that way!3 -
Hi guys. For those new to the team - I'm Kim, a 41 year old special education teacher. Oh and I'm married to @tonilogan . I loathe dancing, so yes bring on the dancing jokes @hawkins410 . I'm primarily a runner, but I also enjoy lifting. I was supposed to do a half marathon next weekend but.......as some of you already know I am currently dealing with an ankle injury. It's a week old injury on and ankle that's been pretty much messed up for years. So I'm hoping for a quick recovery, and I'll do what I can, but my exercise will be limited, at least for the next couple of weeks.4

Hi! I'm Lesley from East Tennessee, USA. I've been teaching high school for 34 years, and I've just begun teaching Group Centergy at my local gym. Recently, my husband and I "inherited" an almost-one-year-old Rottweiler named Lilly Belle, and she is definitely keeping my life interesting. A tired dog is a good dog, and I'm making it my mission to tire her out every day. We have two other amazing dogs (Forte the Destroyer and Crash Motorcycle Dog) and a cat, Miss Jennyanydots.
I'm very excited to be on Team 1! And @hawkins410 , I'm in love with the cabin you've gotten us!3 -
Hi all! welcome to all the new members of Team 1 and Hi to the old! For those who don't know me I'm Leti! I'm 23 and a graduate student working on my masters for Elementary Education. I'm in the middle of student teaching now and will be finishing up in May, so I've been very busy. I did a spring winter challenge and it was so successful and then did a summer challenge which was lots of fun, so I'm excited to get back to it with this fall one. I've been lazy lately and putting other things before my health which isn't good. Fall/winter is so hard for me with holidays and so much yummy fall food, but I'm hoping to find ways to be mindful of what I eat, stay active and just be happy! I also have some pets, a Hedgehog named podge (his Instagram: podge_the_hedgehog if you wanna check out how cute he is) and a doggy named Bailey, who's a giant love bug! I look forward to getting to know everyone and killing it during this race! Please add me, I will try and go through and add members, but I always seem to accidently miss someone.3

Hey all! I'm Ashlee and this is my first Amazing Race challenge. I'm 29, married, two kitties. I'm an Accountant and I spend long hours sitting unfortunately.
For exercise, I love dancing, swimming, and strength training. I'm trying to get into running and it's an uphill battle lol.
I'm looking forward to running this race with all of you!4 -
It is so great to see the new friends postings on the status bar and here! That is one of the key success factors in the amazing race- chatting it up!!!. The more we post on this team thread, the more we motivate ourselves and push together! Last race, team one was by far the most communicative and we got the results!
Other important stuff:- Do the challenges!! Even if you do them as I do ---at 4:45 am in the dark not even letting the dog see me!!! It really is fun to try something you would never otherwise do and It makes a huge difference in team points. The math is weird so 10 challenge points are very different than the miles.
- Modify if you need to!! Rather than skip a challenge that will affect an old injury, figure out a way to modify. You can always ask on the question and answer thread about a modification.
- Try and keep current with the spreadsheet. Part of the fun is the team tracking our progress through the week. If you have technical issues, let mission enforcer know right away. Also if you have limited access you can message @mswanger09 or me and we will enter your minutes.
- Have fun!!!
Jodi

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself again - My name is Lisa,I'm also an emptynester, although I have one temporarily occupying her old room. I live in New Brunswick, Canada. I just hit the one year mark on MFP on Oct. 14th. I've lost 70 lbs, but since I had major surgery in May, I've been losing and gaining the same 5 lbs. I like to do 5K Walks, I've done three this summer. I have a group called LS Walk Ins! which started out as a group for people that like LS walking videos, but has expanded to include all walking. I'm inspired every day by my friend Theresa who never gives up! I'm a firm believer that we can accomplish anything if we all stick together.4
-
Now about me. This is my fourth challenge. I am addicted to them because after a lifelong weight issue they make maintaining my weight fun. Dropped 65 pounds about 7 years ago. These challenges keep me focus on exercise and tracking so I don't have a few pounds slide up.
I've been married 28 years. Daughter 23, an intensive care nurse. Daughter 19 in college for engineering. 4 footed daughter is 5 and a black lab. My husband just turned in his retirement paperwork for December 1 so a big change is coming!!
I am in technical inside sales with a chemical blending company, 40 miles east of Cleveland Ohio. Lots of sedentary computer and phone work. I cycle in the summer and cross country and downhill ski in the winter. I plan on doing 60 minutes of exercise videos in the mornings. Zumba is my favorite. Jillian Micheal pushes me. I mix it up with some weight training. We also do some hiking.
My family are huge Indian's fans. So this is an exciting time! Go Tribe!! and thank you @hawkins4104 -
Beer, I thought this was Oktoberfest! Where's the beer? There better be a keg of something in that cabin and a mug with my name engraved on it!
Hi all, I'm Sharon, 52, married, (got that right the second time), and living in Maryland. I have one daughter, older than I would like to admit, three grands, also older than I would like them to be, who all live too far away. (I got to see them last weekend!) I am currently owned by two spoiled rotten dogs, Gimli and Porter, and a 25 year old cockatiel named Crash. I haven't yet named the spiders that think they are moving indoors for the winter. I work for the state department of education providing training and technical assistance to child care and pre-k teachers. I also might be a little bit of a smart *ss, please don't be offended.
I started this journey again, for the eleventy millionth time, this past January when my husband started on medifast (he's lost 150 pounds!) and I saw the opportunity to take control of my own food choices without having to cater to anyone else's likes or dislikes. At my highest I carried 275 pounds on my 5'4" frame. That doesn't make for a very nice BMI number. I'm hovering between 220 and 225 and I have gained and lost the same 5 pounds all summer long. There is no secret - too many tasty temptations not made up for with additional exercise. So it's time to get back to the grindstone. I would be extremely happy to break the 200 mark sometime soon!
My exercise of choice is walking, because I have crunchy knees that won't run. I get my $10 a month out of Planet Fitness on the treadmill, bike, and sometimes the weights. This time of year the weather is good for walking outside and there are a few parks with boring paths around soccer fields that I make use of if there is enough daylight left at the end of my day.
Baseball is over for us this year, and my husband is kind of depressed about the Ravens. I, however, am a long suffering "One Before I Die" fan of the Buffalo Bills, who currently are posting a better record than the Ravens. That will change, I have no doubt, but we've never lost a tail gate party!2 -
Hi everyone! My name is April and I am 46 and live in Michigan. I have been married 18 years, we have 3 adult children and 4 dogs. This is my second race and I have been looking forward to starting because I have gained 7lbs back since the summer race ended and I started slacking. I have started getting back this past week into my own accountability and I am glad the Fall Race is now ready to start. I am going to make sure that I make every step, dance, yoga and workouts count to help me get to the healthiest I can be.
Glad the cottage is pet friendly3
