Realistically, it doesn't sound like it's being done for exercise, anymore than going to Disneyland would be. How much will you be recording in your log as exercise? If you were in a dead heat for 1st place, what would you gladly accept from from an opposing team member? Claim what you honestly feel is fair, since I'm sure some of it will be strenuous, and out of the ordinary. Thank you for asking!4

I ask because you had house work and gardening that counted. So I will count it if they have me running and hauling pumpkins for more that a couple of minutes. I am calling the person and telling them to put me in an aerobic type area. Thanks. I will only count what makes me sweat. It is going to be 45* on Sunday.

As a fellow player, honestly, if I were there, I'd be starting and stopping my stopwatch (which is on my watch) for just about all movement activity, since I doubt pumpkin chunkin's are a regular occurrence for you.
Frankly, if I log it for activity in my exercise diary, I plan to count those minutes here unless they are clearly verboten - and I have unashamedly counted clean up days at church, cleaning/organization days at home, repairing my A/C (which involved climbing up and down a ladder multiple times), weeding/gardening and other things of that ilk in my exercise diary over the past 5 months. Now, I might not log all the minutes (so if I cleaned/organized at home for 4 hours, I might only log 2 hours - depends on how strenuous the activity was), but it is a personal judgement call.
And if I were going to one of the Disney parks, I'd for sure be logging all the time I'm walking around (though maybe not the time standing in lines or riding rides) - but you can rack up a ton of miles and minutes walking around those parks (or just to/from your car) which is indeed above and beyond normal activity (so it might be 3 hours of walking around Disney vs 10 hours of being at Disney). Again, it's a judgement call, but walking is walking despite the locale/scenery.
But it sounds like you'll be dealing with plenty of activity for the day, and if it were me, I'd be logging the time I was active (maybe not waiting around or resting or watching the event). You'll probably be doing more calorie burning than just walking about, especially if you are working in kids games...whew...I'd be wiped out working with kids. Sounds like a great and fun way to spend your weekend! Have fun!5 -

You're right, but with those two examples I wouldn't count the entire time, and it should be more for "extreme" housework and gardening, not the usual maintenance stuff. It's all very subjective...I would go more with "what are YOU willing to accept from your (west coast) competition" at zero hour.2 -
We can count housework and gardening as long as it's extreme?? hehe
*rubbing hands together gleefully*
Actually, I normally only count intentional exercise, but may have to discuss further with teammates. Lots of household and yard activities make me break a sweat!1 -
I am giving it my all if I do sack races with 5 year olds. lots of side stepping in squat position with a hop. I better keep switching sides. I will be hitting the tread mill tonight because my goal is to work my but not to get a big point value. I will post a couple of pictures on Monday when I recover

@lynnbaum: I admire your energy! Sack races w/ 5 year olds sounds like a big calorie burner! Have fun!3

I have a question does a member still have to be accountable for the challenge, IF either they go on vacation OR get sick. Plus is there a day they have to opt out.
(I thought of this just driving to pick up hubby) that one of my teammates came down with strep. I'll have to go read over all the posts.
Sorry, this never cross my mind,

The spreadsheet closes at 9:00 p.m. PDT. All exercise minutes and challenge points must be entered by then. By MONDAY (PDT), @MissionEnforcer will post the new spreadsheet. IF REQUESTED BY THE TEAM CAPTAIN OR CO-CAPTAIN, non-participating players will be switched out from the Wait List. However, if a player comes down with a bad illness, gets injured, or "real life" gets in the way, they may take a week off (although this will hurt the team!). They MUST let their team know what it going on. If they decide to leave the game, they need to inform their Team Captain or Co-Captain immediately & they need to inform me or @MissionEnforcer ASAP!
There are no "substitutes". Once a player leaves the game, they may not come back unless they put their name back on the bottom of the Wait List and see if an opening occurs later in the game.
LOGGING DAILY IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED SO THAT YOUR TEAM KNOWS YOU ARE STILL WITH THEM!!
That is another reason why it is a very good idea to get the challenges completed early in the week! By the weekend, something might come up and you won't be able to do them, thus greatly hurting your teammates!
Thank you for asking!!6 -
@missionEnforcer : hi it looks like we might of lost Bowlerae from team 5 . messages have been sent and nothing back from her . if its possible could we have her replaced with Rinde99 she's on your waiting list . thank you .0
-
If Bowlerae doesn't reappear by Sunday cutoff, we'll make the substitution next week. I know she was showing up on your team's thread earlier in the week....2

@MissionEnforcer it looks like @KKishaA hasn't hasn't signed into MFP since the 18th plus hasn't answered some messages me and @shauna30 has sent. If she doesn't show up by the cutoff Sunday can she be replaced with@Rigibann on the waiting list too!0

Hi everyone, I was at a Life Coach Retreat up north when the Amazing Race started. Sorry for the disconnect. Please replace me with Shauna30.0

Week 2 question - just to clarify, the no ice cream, no cake, no chocolates part was just in jest and/or was only in reference to the late night snacking piece, correct? We are allowed to eat these things, if we choose, so long as it's not after 10 PM or 2+ hours after dinner?? (We are having an ice cream social at work on Friday that I have been looking forward to for months!!)1
-
Good morning @MissionEnforcer. Please take a look at Team 5 AKA Fab Fives' spreadsheet. Two of us have posted miles but the total looks off. Thanks!0
-
@lbenson2006: Correct. You may eat the Dracula ice cream, cake, and chocolates, but just not after the two hour after-dinner window and/or after 10:00 P.M.
@MiamiSeoul: The 195 minutes of exercise that the two of you have logged is automatically calculated into a percent of the 600 points your team receives for reaching the destination. This is why your team total is 56 now instead of 195.
Great job on getting off to such an early start!2 -
For the stair climbing challenge, the stairs in my home are acceptable as well, right? Like I could just climb up and down them until I get to 770? My daughter might think I'm nuts, but that's okay.2

If we have no stairs, is using a step stool and doing step-ups okay? Might take me a while... but it's that or take the kids to the park and climb up the play place ladder and slide down to climb back up again... lol8

Up part. Okay, got it! :-D Thank you!1

The total under "Total Team Miles" is correct. The amount added to the "Mile Points" is based upon each "Leg" being worth 600 Points, which are in turn dependent upon the individual "Legs" distance. Reaching the goal distance adds a 50 Point Bonus (Note: Due to the math it is possible to have 600 Points, but not collect the 50. This would happen if you were say, a mile short.) After this, the team will get 10 Points for every 10% of goal (not 9.9999%) achieved.5 -
Let me just say... I have a love/hate reaction to the food challenge this week!
Love it because I could use the discipline and this is motivation to not snack.
Hate it because I still have ice cream in the freezer!! -- well, I guess if I'm good during the week I can splurge a little this weekend!3 -
Is it to late for me to join?0
