Spent more time in the car yesterday than on my feet so....only added 1.5 miles. Mom's knee appointment went very well for a week and a half after surgery. The Dr. wants her to go home but since she lives alone and isn't able to drive yet she feels safer (and yes, less lonely) at the rehab center. Even if she isn't following all of their rules. I think my favorite moment yesterday was watching her carry her walker, still folded, across the parking lot so the bottom wouldn't get wet. :D Yeah, I think she's going to be fine.

    May total 13 miles

@FANNCY0626 - It is a "term of endearment" :) for a device that allows you use your outdoors bike indoors. They're called "trainers". You attach it to your rear bicycle wheel at the axle nuts and your rear wheel rests on some sort of shaft that has a flywheel attached to it and can provide a variable amount of resistance. Most of the good ones create the resistance using fluid. The other type has a fan on it and uses air for resistance. I'll try to post a pic of one.

Like Dave said, when you live in climates that make riding difficult during parts of the year, you can use one of these "Hamster Wheels" to get in saddle time. They come from very simple versions to really complex. Simple versions only provide resistance via fluid, magnets or fans. They look like the one Dave posted. Really complex versions are computerized, don't use your back tire, and can be hooked to programs to have variable resistance that sync with riding programs like Zwift. TacX Neo and Elite Drivo are examples of smart trainers. c14b19iq106s.jpg

@FANNCY0626 Hello, here is what my hamster wheel looks like. I use this for saddle time. i got the nickname from @sufferlandrian as I pedal had and go nowhere. But I am tracking speed and cadence so I know how many miles I put in. We have had 6 months of rain so far, my my hamster wheel has been a life saver.

@sufferlandrian & @anaconda469 thanks for the pictures and information! I didn't even know they made anything like that. That would be great to have for winter time.

3.1 miles. I did the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in my area. I ended up going too fast in the beginning and having to walk some of it. Last year I did so much better, got my fastest 5K time, so I"m a little disappointed with it. My last few races have involved some walking, which is not what I want to do.
