I have a withings wifi scale - I have had it since 2010 and I love it. Especially love that I can just step on it and the weight is recorded and I don't have to write it down or try to remember it! Also nice to see all my weighs since I first got it (depressing too sometimes though!!).

I presume it's accurate, but it's the only scale I weigh on so I guess it doesn't really matter all that much. It always gives the same weight if I step on and off it a few times - not like some I've had in the past that can vary like crazy!

I set up my Aria scale last night and checked my weight on it and on my old scale. The weight was off by 0.4 (aria was higher) but my body fat was a whopping 8% higher on the Aria Scale.

@ruby_emrald I ordered those plates online a few years ago as a complete set (plates, bowl, condiment cups), but I can't find them anymore.

Today was a good day. I ate an OMAD breakfast at 9:30 this morning and haven't been hungry all day. We had a function at church where they served hot dogs, burgers, baked beans, and potato salad with chips and cookies and I did not eat or want anything and was able to socialize and talk with others as they ate. Here is the picture of my morning meal.

Tracey, your breakfast and smoothie look so awesome! Yummy in my tummy! I used an avocado in my smoothie the other day and it was fantastic! I've used oats before as well, but garbanzo beans? Huh, who'd of thunk? I may give those a whirl in my next one.

Thanks Barb, The garbanzo's are unnoticeable. I like with smoothies you can add off ingredients and not taste them but still benefit from their health aspects.

This afternoon's meal was Chinese food. I figured it would be safe to eat since it was my lunch OMAD and I would have it digested before bed. I did a 3 mile walk this evening and had a smoothie when I got home. Tomorrow is my no eating day so it should balance out. Here is the picture of today's meal.

I decided not to do the no eating day and eat my OMAD dinner. There were plenty of left overs in the fridge so I got a little bit of a lot of foods. Not shown is a small smoothie. Very tasty.

I bought it online a few years back as a set with bowl and condiment cups, but I don't think it is available anymore.

Ruby_emerald said she found some. She may be able to share where she got hers from. I really love mine and wish I could find them again because between moves somehow I lost the bowls and condiment cups that came with the set and I would like to replace them.

This month is not going as planned so far (I am currently sitting at a 0.6 pound gain for the month). It seems that I am going in the wrong direction and my date to reach my short term 150 pound goal has now gone from September 17, 2017 to March 23, 2018 :s:s:'(:'( . Every since I started using my new Aria Scale, I am getting the feeling that I am losing muscle and not fat because it is showing daily my body fat percentage going up. Trendweight is showing I have lost 1.1 pound of lean mass since yesterday and lost 6 pounds of lean mass since last week and have gained about the same amount of fat mass.

Here are my stats from trendweight this morning on my lean mass, fat mass, and fat percentage.

I want to lose weight but not at the expense of my lean muscle mass. I want to lose fat. Looking at my meals lately, I have been eating a great deal of carby foods. I think I am going to go back to my first OMAD meals with the big salad and protein. I have been doing lots and lots of walking and need to up my strength training to work on building muscle.

I don't know my old scale was showing me losing body fat as I lost weight, but this new scale has me with 10% more body fat than my old scale. I am going to go to the fitness center and do the bod pod thing to see what it says my body fat is so that I can get some peace of mind. If my new scale is right, I just have to get it in gear and get that body fat moving back down.

If any one has some words of wisdom or encouragement please chime in. I am feeling a bit unnerved about now and just need to know if these numbers are actually correct.

On a different note, I go to get my blood work done again to check my cholesterol levels. I moved my appointment up from the 18th to tomorrow. I should be able to see my results by Monday or Tuesday so I am praying that all are in the normal levels. I am pretty positive that they will be.

Tracey... you´ve been doing lots and lots of walk and you recon you have gained...could it be you are building muscle and that weighs more?..
I am also looking at my meals... today I ate less carbs just big salad with my usual avocado lettuce, spinach, onion, tomatoe, I added beans oregano acv, olive oil and I had a chiken organic burger, plus 2 biscuits.

And I had done 2 miles fitness walk which I plan to keep up....
Lets see how well I take my 23h fast today with less carbs...

Romancing the idea of doing several days week with less carbs and other days with some rice or quinoa or spiral pasta in my salad...

Again I think we do need to find what works best...
    keep at it!!!!!

I think the bod pod is a great idea. If you've increased your activity, it seems very odd that body fat would go up, but I am not a professional. Your choice to go to experts at the fitness lab is definitely wise, because a 10% body fat difference in readings seems unreasonably huge. Maybe the bod pod will help confirm which scale is the most accurate and you can adjust from there. Try not to fret too much -- I think having the knowledge is always the best first step towards change. And maybe you will get good news that your new scale is wrong!

I can not get my fitness assessment done until 14 August so I have just over a month before I can verify which of my scales is correct. I will try not to let it bother me but I also don't want to continue to have my body cannibalizing muscle either.

I have been looking at Dr. Berg videos this morning and have identified my body type and with my body type I need to reduce the carbs and eat more cruciferous vegetables. It makes sense because I seem to gain after a higher carb meal.

((((Tracey)))), when trying to lose weight and there is a significant deficit, you will lose muscle along with fat--more fat than muscle, but muscle as well. Making sure you get adequate protein will help retain lean muscle mass. However, unless you are eating closer to TDEE or over TDEE, actually building muscle isn't likely to happen, unless you are doing some serious lifting. It takes both protein and carbs and other foods to build muscle. HIIT strength training has been scientifically proven to help people lose fat and build muscle as well, so that's a plus! :)

May I suggest trying to focus less on the scale, try to eat close to TDEE and work on building muscle instead? Just for a bit, then lose some more weight, go back to working on building muscle, rinse and repeat?

Either that or come to peace with the fact that you will lose muscle while losing fat, accept it, and worry about muscle once you've reached your weight loss goals. ;)

There is an interesting theory that I read yesterday about "whooshes and squishy fat" (http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html/ ) where he said that when people are losing fat, there is some (anecdotal evidence only) that their scales show an increase in body fat right before a loss. The reason he gives is that these scales actually are measuring hydration (which is how they work - some sort of impedance thing) and fat cells fill up with water as they are getting smaller and then all of a sudden they release the water.

    rhl9wvpphkxi.png

Who knows how much truth there is to any of it, of course (I'm very skeptical about everything I read...), but it's an interesting read anyway.
