BTW, I don't even LOOK at the body fat reading on my scale. I don't think the readings are very accurate and they definitely change depending how hydrated you are...

There is an interesting theory that I read yesterday about "whooshes and squishy fat" (http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html/ ) where he said that when people are losing fat, there is some (anecdotal evidence only) that their scales show an increase in body fat right before a loss. The reason he gives is that these scales actually are measuring hydration (which is how they work - some sort of impedance thing) and fat cells fill up with water as they are getting smaller and then all of a sudden they release the water.

Who knows how much truth there is to any of it, of course (I'm very skeptical about everything I read...), but it's an interesting read anyway.

    True or not, VERY INTERESTING!

    I'd say - don't overthink it!! :)

Tonight's meal. Going back to the basics and adding more veggies.

    dvy0gfmlmh31.jpg

Salad, Brussel Sprouts, Zucchini Noodles, and marinated Salmon. Smoothie with Kale and Spinach, cherry berry with kale mix, half a banana, strawberries and water.

This meal was low calorie due to the veggies, but was very filling.

That's my kinda meal (minus the salmon of course)... My meal is only an hour or so away - I think I might have a giant salad after seeing this! :)

Absolutely gorgeous salad!!! I want one two, sans the salmon. I wish I liked salmon though, it has the same effect on me as liver--love the smell, the taste not so much. lol

This is so interesting! I hope this is what's happening with you, Tracey!
SN: This actually gave me a small chuckle because it reminded me of that line from Mean Girls: "This is all your water weight. First you bloat, then you drop 10 pounds like that."

I did low carb throughout my entire weight loss but now that I'm in maintenance I'm not, so maybe try it again and then when you get to maintenance you could add the carbs back in gradually, I hope your blood work results come back good o:)

This is interesting and may explain some of the discontinuities in the rate of loss.
I know from my own experience that occasionally out of the blue I will go for a couple of days having much more frequent urination (whooshing?). Of course this is always accompanied by a nice drop in weight but perhaps it's just the fat cells finally letting go of the water.

Today is my official weigh day and I am happy to report a near 3 pound loss for the week :D:D:D

Attached is my spreadsheet for the week. You can see that after using my new scale my body fat is showing a 9.8% increase from last week. I have decided not to fret over that and just continue on with life and losing.

At the halfway point of the month, I think getting out of the 160's this month is in the realm of possibilities.

Hubby took me out to Olive Garden tonight. Big high carb meal, but I enjoyed every bite. Will be eating light for the next couple of days.

I Woke up this morning to a surprising 1.8 pound loss on the scale which was totally unexpected after yesterday's huge Olive Garden meal. I also experienced my first loss in body fat since using my new scale. I am down 3.3 pounds since Wednesday. I hope it sticks as this would have me solidly in the 150's by the end of the month.

Today's meal was broken into two plates. I went to a church fellowship dinner and only had chicken and corn there since they surprisingly did not have any vegetables. Once I got home I had a plate of salad and broccoli and cheese and 1 buffalo wing. I also had my kale and spinach chocolate berry shake. After that I had a lil drummie chocolate swirl cone.

    Awesome loss! Go girl!
I'm getting ready to start having smoothies as one of my mealtime beverage as well. I have been taking spirulina and chlorella by the spoonful instead of mixing them into liquid to save calories but I can't take it anymore. And they are NOT good in water. Just gonna blend them up with fruit from now on. I might be stealing some of your smoothie combos :)

I ordered some of Dr. Berg's Chocolate Kale shake powder. I am going to start mixing it with my kale and spinach blend and water. Hopefully the powder will make the drink sweet enough where I won't need to add the fruit. I want to up my vegetables and cut back on the fruit for now.

I'm planning a wild blueberry-blood orange-ginger smoothie with the algae and ACV added today. We'll see how that turns out!
When I was low carbing, most of my smoothies were made with just greens, ice, and a powder. They almost always have some type of sweetener in them, even if it's stevia or monk fruit or something. You should be okay to leave out the fruit when using powder.
