Hi ladies! Been busy.... and riding....and busy.

    Lots happening!

I am just blown away by the events in this country right now and the absolute lack of leadership. Can't seem to shake this feeling of being totally out of control. As Forrest Gump would say, that's all I am going to say about that.

@quilteryoyo Hope your dad is on the mend.

@avidkeo sorry about your sick girl....sounds like she is bouncing back.

@elise4270 Great job adulting! way to save some cash too!!! :)

@shanaber glad you got a run in. I am nauseous thinking about these businesses who were on the edge already....I a so sympathetic for the protests and the message. I do not accept looting. They need to be arrested. Agree about the grad school process. We shall see. Some people go and do a post bacc year to take/retake needed classes. She will not. She mastered the the material and would most likely have dominated those classes at UT but just didn't want to have to take some 17-18 credit semesters of all engineering classes....too much. The next hurdle - rock the MCAT. It's like running the 400 meter hurdles.... B)

@ddmom0811 I am competitive and addictive....not great traits for owning a Peloton lol! There is a cool live class tomorrow at 6 EST by Tunde to deal with all of this KRAP happening right now. I might try to jump on it. Let me know if you do....I'll find you!

Finding a coding job that is flexible, pays well is the key. Then you can volunteer to teach brilliant underserved kids to code....Do you need insurance? The LaMer is on my list.....must find it... I'll message you! I will run for Natl running day too...a short recovery run. As for antidepressants, I have avoided them over the years as I don't want to gain weight. Decided to try to deal with the ebbs and flows of life in other ways but I never felt dysfunctional. If I had I would get one for sure.

Food: not great last night....too tired to cook....had tortellini with pest on top of spinach and the husband gave me some garlic toast....totally unnecessary. But I knew I was riding this morning. Tonight maybe a veggy bowl of some sort

Exercise: Did a ride, will do another one Thursday. Hope to get a stretch in and some core.

Thanks all. Today has moved to 2 sick girls sigh. Not as bad as yesterday, just tail end of tummy bug. So same as yesterday. Be with both girls for the day then full evening work. I'm exhausted. But honestly fwp. Given everything going on complaining that I'm watching my kids while hubby works, then going to my job... Bit on the nose I guess.

Eating has been garbage. And honestly right now I don't care. Im just going to live this week and not give a toss. I'll care next week.

Hi all - my morning was hijacked by needing to take our friend's cat to the vet. I am not a fan of this vet office under normal circumstances but she likes them - I think because they are inexpensive. Took the cat over and no one in the office was wearing a mask. I told the girl I would leave the cat there and wait in my car. All kinds of people coming and going - no masks... She came out and wanted me to go in with the cat to see the vet and was shocked when I said no. I ended up leaving the cat and will go back later to pick it up.

@ddmom0811 - finding someone you are confident in, who listens and takes your concerns seriously, is so important. I went to an endocrinologist after years of my PCP telling me I was fine when I clearly wasn't. I ended up making the endocrinologist my PCP until he retired. No one had ever told me about all the issues with hypothyroidism (bone density, vision, cardiovascular, etc.). He was all about testing, maybe too much sometimes but I always felt like I was taken seriously and he was on top of everything. My current PCP is similar, not an endocrinologist but is really good. She is the first to discuss with me the impact of thyroid meds on TSH tests (from the American Thyroid Assn - In most patients on thyroxine replacement, the goal TSH level is between 0.5 to 2.5 mU/L). Mine was close to 4 (within the normal range) for quite a while and she wanted it back to around 2. She doesn't order the T3/T4 much anymore but tracks my TSH to make sure it stays in line.

Food - did ok last night but ate too much at the end of the day and not enough during. Especially thinking about the article that @RunsOnEspresso posted. Today despite the interruptions I am doing pretty well eating. Had wheat Chex with a banana for breakfast and a salad with chicken for lunch. Fixing baked potatoes with veggies for dinner.

Also @ddmom0811 - I hate brussel sprouts and my dh loves them! I refuse to fix them so he will buy them frozen and fix them for himself.

@bearly63 - agree on leadership and protests - I'm for protests but not for looting for goodness sake. I am not sure I can make a 6pm ride. But if I do I will let you know. I did a ride with Ally Love today - OMG I loved her too. There are so many good instructors. This was just a recovery ride after I did a 15 minute ride with Kendall. Will send you the info.

@ddmom0811 Shoot. I forgot it was national running day. I was planning on doing cross training today because it looks like I will be stuck in the house waiting on a phone call again today. Thankfully, NOT from the hospital or dad because HE GOT TO COME HOME LAST NIGHT! But, now my AC is not working and I have a call into the repair shop. I had to leave a message, so am waiting for them to call back to make an appointment. Oh how I hate waiting.

@Elise4270 Glad you adulted and got the part shipped for free. Sometimes I wonder about the repair shops and how they order parts. Hope they can get your car fixed and don't charge you too much.

@Avidkeo Sorry both of your girls are sick. That is hard. Hope they feel better soon! Just saw you got it too! Oh no! Hope it isn't too bad and you feel better quickly!

Dad got to come home yesterday afternoon. They checked him out thoroughly, which I am happy about. They didn't seem to find anything that was really causing his issues. They are changing up some of his medications. He seems to be doing really good, so far, today. We shall see. One of the problems he had when he was in the hospital was really, really high blood pressure - like 196/105 high. It took them the entire day to get it to go down. So, one of the medicine changes was to increase one of his HBP medicines. Problem is, his BP seems to be good and was even going too low at home. Since I wasn't at the hospital, I wasn't able to explain that to them and dad didn't know which medicine he was changing, so didn't ask about that. Fortunately, the directions for that one is to NOT take it if his BP is lower than 100/60. It was lower than that both last night and this morning. So weird. Anyway, I'll hopefully get more details at his follow up with his primary care in a couple of weeks. Mom and I are just glad he is home!

@quilteryoyo great news about your dad!

After a bit, I thought if i can find that part cheaper in 5 minutes from oem, (common after market parts), they might be trying to make money by charging the shipping and have it sent economy, free. I can consider finding someone else, or do it myself -but no way with this shoulder. I could let the bmw dealership do it when I go to Dallas, but they will take all dang day. Currently I’m leaning to doing the all day dealership. I have no complaints with them yet. They’ll do a better job I’m sure.

Had chocolate yesterday now headache.. I’m stupid. Dh bought more chocolate yesterday. I’ve been good to stay out of it, a little is all it takes.

@quilteryoyo - great, glad he's home! Weird on BP. DH's bp is just really weird too ever since aFib.

I was down below 149 today! Was shocked. So many days of weight yoyoing around. I'll take it!
Met friends from school at a pizza place near the school and we were able to eat outside, in the shade and it wasn't super hot. Yay - that will be over shortly, probably tomorrow.

Ran around 4 miles for Global running day. Forgot to start my watch. I could have sworn I did start it though and after where I know a mile was I looked down and it said something like power save. Never seen that screen. Oh well, I logged the rest of it.

@ddmom0811 My Garmin will say something like power save in 30 seconds and beep at me. It does that if it is in a state of suspension - like I have stopped a run to talk to someone, I forget to push start, etc.

@quilteryoyo - So glad your dad is home and feeling better! My BP is low at home too but high when they take it at the doctor's office. DD tells me I have white coat syndrome even though I don't feel nervous when I am there. The cardiologist is typically the one where my BP seems to be measured accurately or isn't high... probably not a measuring issue.
@RunsOnEspresso - I didn't read the email form Oiselle and just deleted it (trying not to be tempted). I now blame you for the $90 I just spent on another pair of running shorts and a shirt. Granted the shirt was on clearance so there's that! Most importantly it is for a good cause!
@ddmom0811 - Yay to being below 149! I seem to just be hanging right there.
I did get my new scale set up and have to say I really like it and the app. Love how it pulls everything together. I also set up a profile for dh. Was surprised to see his bone mass was on the low side for men but I don't know if there is a better range broken down by age. Also have no idea how accurate it is but definitely something to watch over time I guess.

Have to say I am a little jealous of @ddmom0811 and @bearly63 for having all the Peloton workouts. I can't get to the live ones with my 'free' access and just see the same older records ones. I did find that I can get another month or 2 from my insurance so when this runs out I will sign up there if I still can.

@avidkeo sorry about the bug and that it found mom! No fair!

@shanaber that is crazy about the vet. My vet makes us stay in the car, text when we arrive and they come in masks to car to get the pet and do the exam, bring them back out, etc. No going in yet. I am going to an endocrinologist to talk bone density.....maybe I will get them to check my thryoid too. Which scale did you end up with? And yes...the P app is good. If you'd use it often might be worth springing for....

@ddmom0811 I haven't found a teacher I don't like. But yesterday, I did a Leanne Tour - 9 classes back to back....the 30 min class in the middle - "Celine Dione" theme class. It was , as Annie Lennox said in the next class of hers, like walking on broken glass! Not a huge fan and so I checked out....didn't do great but goal was to finish which I did. Tomorrow is a Matt Wilpers Tour with a bunch of people - supposed to be hard - he is a beast. Someone coined him the "Baby Faced Assassin" He is like one of our sons....so cute but challenging rider and a great running coach. He ran cross country in college.

@quilteryoyo Glad your dad is home. It's so hard when you can't be with them....need 2 sets of ears to really listen and ask questions. I even find myself not remembering stuff when its my own appt.

@elise4270 I always feel so ripped off with car stuff being so car-illiterate. I hate feeling ripped off. I should take a mechanics class. Does that exist for someone a few years out of high school?

@RunsOnEspresso Love that message from the company. Sounds like a great cause.

Exercise: Today was planning on a recovery walk day but decided to do a run/walk interval class outside for 30 because I had to run a little for Global running day. Tomorrow I will get a ride in....

Food: Did ok today but had pizza for dinner. Met my mah jongg ladies at someones house for social distanced catch up.....it was nice to see people in person.....I have not seen many people. Scarily spending more time with virtual peeps....I need to get out more lol!

I weighed in today at 138.4, down over a lb from yesterday.....no idea why. Assume water, sodium, yada yada.

@bearly63 - I got the Withings Body+. I have had it a couple of weeks but waited to actually take it out of the box and set it up until I had a chance to ask if I really shouldn't use it with a pacemaker as the instructions note. Electrophysiologist said it is fine no issue, once I explained to him what a smart scale is and how it works. You would think others would have asked but maybe not.
I might consider paying for the Peloton app assuming I could get to more than I can now. Will wait and see what they offer.

I am seeing this disturbing add on MFP for DIY bathroom upgrade saving Americans thousands on toilet paper. The photo looks like a *kitten* blow-dryer or maybe is a spray nozzle from the kitchen sink. see?

That is crazy and it does look like a blow dryer! I could just see someone electrocuting or burning themselves.
I must say in some places in Europe the bidets had blowers on them. The entire process was pretty startling all for someone not used to it.

I’m down for the bidet. But I don’t wanna see it on mfp. You wouldn’t get doodie on your hands and just wipe it off with tp, so your bits shouldn’t be any different (I’d think). I was offended yesterday by a Poise add that mentions “in your pants”. My ears just cringed. Maybe I’m just getting old!

@elise4270 - what an ad! In related news, we have a bidet and love it. There is a restaurant in New Smyrna Beach that has very fancy bidets - they have dryers, seat warmers, different water temps and speeds. So I looked into getting one for home but it was ridiculously priced. But I found one, and got it November and we both love it. My DD came home for xmas and tried it and next thing I know she bought one for her apt in Portland!

Aww I’m jealous. I’ve always wanted one!

@RunsOnEspresso my premium ran out in April so I’m plagued with the dumbest adds

I got out for a walk. It is 97F/36C out. What a mistake. I am not heat conditioned in the least. I feel lucky to not have passed out.

Nice cold shower and a bowl of frozen blueberries with blueberry Cheerios and Netflix now.

For whatever reason MFP is blocking my post. Not sure what the issue is but I am re-entering it under the spoiler...
I don't see ads on MFP or other sites because I have an internet ad blocker It works great and is free. I do have issues sometimes with sites that get most revenue from ads and then I can add them to an exclusion list if I really want to use the site.

@ddmom0811 - did you get a standalone bidet or one that works as an add on with your toilet? I wouldn't have room for both in either of our bathrooms.

Thanks! I use the app on Android and the iPad. Grabbed the blocker and will try it with safari. I usually browse with Mozilla on the lap top. Which seem ok if I’m remembering correctly.

@Avidkeo I hadn’t even considered cellulitis. I though that was what obese, diabetic and unclean people get. But I didn’t bother to wash it, and went to trim my doggie, then showered.

It appears about twice the size, but the pain has eased up. I’ll outline it. It’s about 2.5 cm x 2.5cm. Thanks for the insight!

    Here’s my pokie boo boo.
    y9xuyzr4i97q.jpeg

Remember that tiny little poke that seemed to overreact? It is a painful knot today. It’s like it’s on a tendon. I swear. The universe better be balancing bad and good and some good better be coming my way any day now. Dr google suggests it’s a fibrous scar. I really hope it doesn’t get any larger or more tender. Guess that’s why it initially reacted the way it did.
    frtf1rem3w09.jpeg

Made it one day with less complaining, universe is just tempting me to break my “no complaining“ vow... Everything is great here. Dh cooked bacon (that I can’t have) and cleaned the kitchen (that I didn’t dirty) haha!

    Onward!
ETA I have an appointment for the shoulder in a week, I can inquire about the bump then! I ordered too much La Mer and it shipped today! yay! My car parts are being shipped for the quoted shipping fees. Now I have to decide if I'll take it to Dallas or let the ya-hoos here do it. Be nice if I can coordinate it with pre-op tests (assuming we still do that in the covid age). I also have a groupon for some face stuff in Dallas... I might make it all work. Now if I can find clothes that still fit.

    Yikes @elise4270 !
I went to neurologist for the numbness in my left hand, ring and pinkie fingers.
Dr. Google had said it was Ulnar Neuropathy and indeed it is. I did not enjoy that nerve test! I was a pile of sweat like I'd just run when it was done. I told him this table is going to be drenched. He ran out and turned down the AC!
But... it's not so severe there is much they can do! So I am to lay off lifting except the more questions I asked him about what lifting I could do it seemed like there was very little left out. I can do planks! What...!? That seemed odd. Any move that is like a tennis swing is bad for this. He said Peloton was fine but long bike rides where I lean heavy (every weekend!) is not good. So I'm happy that it is just that.

Today is a rest day but I'm going to do a core workout to keep my Peloton streak. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain and I hope it does because that will make it easier to stay off my road bike!

Weight still under 149! (after I removed underwear and my Invisalign). ha! I love my Invisalign! I'm on tray 6 and they are already looking good! Just 16 more trays to go!

Today has been insanely busy. I was supposed to take off today and Monday but now the school decided to have summer school (I don't know logistics for the classes, I just have to get forms online and get courses in database, ugh) and it starts the 15th. The parents have 4 days to sign up.
So I've been running to appts and working in between. Didn't even have time to eat lunch other than PB to go on the way to Doctor then had to rinse out mouth and just stick Invisalign back in.

@Elise4270 That's not good. I wonder if something got under the skin or something. That is so weird. Glad you have an appointment soon so you can ask about it.

@ddmom0811 I had to look up ulnar neuropathy. I have carpal tunnel syndrome. Sounds similar, but in a different joint. Mine has gotten better since I'm not on the computer all day long like I was when I was in the AF. Every once in a while it still acts up, but isn't too bad. I hope with rest and not putting too much pressure on that nerve that your's will get better too! Glad you are liking the invisilign! Yeah for still being under 149! I used to hold my breath, thinking that would help, then I realized that I needed to blow it all out if I wanted to be lighter. LOL

I was supposed to play tennis today, which was going to be my cross training activity. But, there was a mix up and too many of us showed up to play. I bowed out and let the others play because I had to go shopping anyway. I thought I would get done, come home, and go for a run. However, I didn't sleep good last night, it is raining/storming in the area, I'm tired, and I'm just not in the mood. So, I'm calling it a rest day.

@ddmom0811 Your day sound busy! yet productive! I had an EMG, the nerve test on my left sciatic nerve back in... 2015 I think. It was horrible. But I don't think it'd have been so bad if everything wasn't already so angry, (that's the nerve that was damaged and at the time, losing/or had lost the myelin sheathing, running through my piriformis muscle rather than under). Nerve study was useful, but painful! It's funny that they act like it can't possibly be THAT bad, and "just relax and hold still". I hope the ulnar entrapment/neuropathy is manageable, perhaps giving the nerve a rest, it'll heal and not become chronic. I took neurotinin (Gabapentin) for nerve pain for a while. It didn't help enough to all it a win. Side effects include tiredness and slowing nerve impulses also included thinking, least for me I felt a bit slow. I just take some various B vitamins for nerve support since it's still an issue.
Does that mean you are teaching summer school? Guess it's good to keep kids engaged, especially with the current situation.
    ----
I'm fighting the "frumps" again today. The shoulder is mad. I cleaned the kitchen floor, got cat boxes, laundry, made enchiladas, a bit of violin (frustrating), and am studying a bit. But, I am not complaining, just acknowledging where I am.

    ETA
@quilteryoyo Enjoy your rest day. We had storms north of us, probably the ones that kept up up. I tried willing them our way. Hope you get some rest.

Wow @elise4270 - I thought that thing had resolved itself. Glad you can get it checked next week along with the very angry shoulder! And that you can schedule to get all things done while you are in Dallas. Here at least pre-op tests are very much a thing and include a Covid test now as well.
@ddmom0811 - I had a nerve test in my arm ages ago for carpel tunnel and other possibilities. I am pretty sure it was the worst pain ever. I wonder if the people who do them and tell us all to just relax and hold still, ever have it done to themselves. Maybe they would be a bit more empathetic.
Strange that you can do planks but not rest forward's on your arms on the bike. De he say what type of planks (forearm or on your hands)? Seems like resting on your forearm would be similar to on the bike.
It really is pretty amazing how great the Invisalign's are and how quickly they start working!
@quilteryoyo - I think you deserve a rest day after all that work you put in yesterday, even without not sleeping well. Hope it is quiet tonight so you can get a good rest!

Today has been really odd... Yesterday it was 92F here and yes it was supposed to cool off with a possibility of light drizzle but when I got ready to go for my run it was only 60F and the skies opened up and it started pouring! So I waited a bit, had some toast and then went out. It was so nice, still smelled like rain and it did sprinkle on Hobbes and I off and on through out the run. I didn't have to stop so often today and actually got my HR up to 123 (yay). It has been over a month since I have been able to get it that high. At one point we did stop and sat on a bench to watch the clouds rolling in and all the birds out on the water. It was so peaceful. As we were running back home through the neighborhood it decided to rain again but we beat the worst of it. Also today when I weighed myself I had a 4lb drop - What?!?! I was so surprised. I hope it lasts! For today at least I am down to 145!

I made the mistake of mentioning to my dh that one of the pizza places he likes has 1/2 off all pizzas. Thought we could do that next week for him and I would make myself something else. Well He wants it for dinner tonight so I will have to see if I can find something I like other than pizza. Maybe a salad.
