We are watching the newest season of Arrested Development. New season of Glow is on the list.

OMG. I've already binged on it. Well both of them i have. so funny. I use to never watched tv but these last few years, i guess after being stuck home all day post surgery for months, i find i really enjoy parking it on the couch all evening with a snack and kombucha!

I'm waiting for the next season of Better Call Saul, and patiently waiting each week to catch the next Preacher. I've bee spoiled by the Netflix/hulu/Amazon binge ive forgotten what it was like to have to wait a week for whats next!

@shanaber I'm not planning for the weekend eats either. My struggle is week days. I got the weekend. DH loved the lamb so much he picked up another. So more lamb!

I may need to watch Glow next. I wasn’t sure about it, but Ibe heard a lot of good reviews.

I’m trying super hard to stay on track with food, but work is majorly stressing me out, and all I want to do is eat junk. I baked two chicken breasts and some veggies, and I’m going to bake some fish and other veggies tonight so that Incan look in my fridge and see healthy food for the next few days so that I won’t stray. I would ideally like to be down another 10 lbs by my marathon.

@Elise4270 Our schedules don't always match up so we don't have a lot of time to binge together.

This am hasn't been the best for me. I had a 7:45 appt so got up ran, got ready and ate a kind breakfast bar on the way. Came home and went a little nuts with a special k crustless quiche and some popchips pb puff things. I'll try not to snack as I edit photos.

    Plans for this week?

I'm not sure. This is my first taper in a while, its for an event I've never done also the first taper since I've gone fat addapted.

And hopefully the knee continues to play nice.

We have lamb today. Rest of the week my options include: Watermelon. Fresh mozzarella, mushrooms, spaghetti squash (i still haven't fixed), roast in the freezer... Hmmm... 1 fat tire. Oh Siggis, bananas but yuck they are not green. ETA we have 5 cartons of fresh eggs too. I should fix some

Anyone do a fat addapted taper? Daily I'm at 100g, but that is with a 45-60+min daily run or bike. Think i may have a regular light work out week limiting activity to 30-40 minutes, and no training after Thursday?

I know when i hit 200g carbohydrates I'm like a 4 year old. So I'm guessing 150 Friday, 200 Saturday, Sunday is race morning (plan that fasted er just coffee). I am anticipating that I'll finish about the
90 minutes mark . Be lovely if i could make 75.

    Thoughts, ideas, experience?

@Elise4270 I've done pre-race week (last 2-3 days before races) by eating more meat than normal. Eating carbs when fat adapted adds a lot of water weight and GI distress that just slows me down a whole lot. If I need fast glucose while running, I get it immediately before and/or during the run and not by trying to add glycogen stores.

I did that thing last night where I was in a mood so I said f-it and ate twice as much pizza as planned, then ended up feeling even worse and also having a stomachache because ug too much pizza. Why? It's not like I deprive myself of pizza, or even like it that much, and I KNOW eating that much will make me feel bad. Sigh. I slept in and was going to feel grumpy about it but decided to try something different instead, so I started work an hour earlier than planned while listening to 90s pop music really loud and am going to do my lifting workout in an hour or so. Because since when does repeating the same thing that hasn't worked in the past (like saying f-it and overeating super dense food?) get anyone anywhere?

We went for Vietnamese tonight and then out for ice cream. Tomorrow back to a more sensible diet.

Yesterday my 3.5 year old tried to shave his legs so I had a stressful afternoon. Fortunately just one bad scratch. Still - comfort food in the evening.

Stress is my worst trigger for crappy food. That and after I do good for so long, think I can binge on all that stuff I've worked to get out of my diet. Today I want pizza. But it's not the pizza I really want, it's just that go to food habit.

This evening I want chicken fried steak and gravy. Who knows. I missed Tom, maybe its PMS cravings- again.

So far I've been able to thwart any high calorie foods (pizza, ice cream, chips).

Ouch! Time for a kids shaving kit? Glad it was minor.

What like of ice cream did you have?

I got a fancy dipped waffle cone with vanilla ice cream that had snickers bars and caramel sauce folded in. It's so hot today. The ice cream was amazing.

@sarahthes - it actually looks like he did a pretty good job other than the scrape! Maybe a little pretend kit (or a handle with no blade) would do the trick?
I am not a big ice cream fan and I am probably the only person in the world that doesn't like Snickers, but the cone sounds amazing!

I am kind of planning for the week on the fly. We really need to get to Costco but also the fridge seems to be very full with who knows what. I did make IP chicken breasts with rice and fresh steamed broccoli for dinner. It is just too hot and humid to cook and neither of us are really hungry. We did have In N Out last night and I picked out some of the crunchy fries I like so I got that fix in. Over the weekend I bought a bunch of things I like for lunches so I have been having veggies and hummus and some roast turkey breast with Swiss cheese and it has been perfect. I will probably throw in a salad one day for either dinner or lunch too. Other than that - I guess just eat what ever is taking up space in the fridge and freezer!

I did get peanuts late last week and made PB so I am all set with it for a while. Just need to make some granola but it is too yucky to even turn on the oven!

I see the nutritionist on Thursday too - maybe she will have some more meal ideas :)

I have finally lost a couple of pounds - not sure if it is just water weight from sweating so much while running, at agility, just living in general.... but I guess time will tell! Was excited to see the scale finally move a bit though regardless of the reason!

@sarahthes Caramel is on my no-no list. I love it. I'll buy a jar of the really good stuff and just eat it all on the couch watching TV. Your ice cream sounds perfect

It is too hot to live today. Ugh. AC is not a thing up here but it's 32C outside and hotter inside.

We forgot to put lunch in the fridge so went out for pizza.

And then for supper I had one of those tuna & crackers things from Costco plus a spinach salad with avocado, tomatoes, cucumber and bell pepper. And then some pea crisps and a freezie.

As soon as the sun goes down I'm going for a walk...

So, my groceries are getting a bit questionable at best, and then I forgot to put lunch in the fridge when I got to work. So, I had chicken and ranch as part of a takeout pizza, instead of on spinach like was the plan... but I figured it was preferable to food poisoning.

@sarahthes Do you have access to window units? I'd just die without ac, especially at night. I'm advocating for a window unit in our bedroom because i dont like it 77f/25c in the afternoons. I'll wear him down and get one sometime.

@Elise4270 We have one but it is currently blocked in our storage room by our washer & dryer, because we haven't gotten in a contractor to run a proper electrical line for the washer on that side of the room. The window we put it in is blocked by a bookshelf that normally is in the storage room but which would be blocking the electrical panel.

It's all super annoying. Fortunately it's cooled off somewhat tonight.

I ate pizza 2 days ago. I expected to see my weight jump up. It did 1-2 pounds. I ate good yesterday, roast spaghetti squash and mushrooms with butter, then Halo for dinner. Up and additional 2 pounds. *Hangs head in hormonal sadness*

I have to think its partly due to tapering. I'm glad fr the taper week since its si hot. But feel so dang lazy! Haha!

@sarahthes I'm glad its cooler. I hate the heat. Hate the short days of winter... So guess I'll take the longer happier days over the cold dreary short ones. I'm beginning to think heat acclimating is a myth.

    Todays foods?

Again. I have no plan.... *Shrugs* i really need to lay off the tacos. But i have a feeling itll be tacos, again.

Our fridge is dying. Getting a new on Friday so we had to cook up all our meat because it had defrosted. Stupid freezer. So I have some chicken a bagel and cheese for lunch. Thankfully we didn't have a lot of food because when we went fridge shopping we normally would have been grocery shopping. LOL

I was so proud of myself last night! The DH bought me a king size reese's pb cup. I took the package to the living room and ate two (one serving). I was going to eat the rest because I had the calories but decided I didn't need 4 cups and saved 2 for tonight.

I usually gain 2-3 pounds after eating pizza and it takes 2-4 days to drop off. I'm not sure exactly what it is about pizza that does it, but it's happened with both cheap and fancy pizza.

We went to see a Genghis Khan exhibit yesterday - it was fantastic but the 5 hours in the car were not! We were in a hurry when we left so I didn't get to really eat breakfast, just grabbed part of a pastry to eat in the car. We at lunch at the museum cafe and had a surprisingly delicious salad with chicken and homemade potato chips that were amazing... no salt interestingly and not greasy at all. Still trying to figure out how they cooked them but now I want more! The plan for dinner was to finish up leftovers but after 3+ hours to get home I wasn't really feeling very hungry. I ended up eating veggies and dip followed by some turkey and cheese along with a glass of wine.

Today I would normally have run early but I was back to the dentist to review my treatment plan and it is already getting hot. I have to leave soon for an appointment with the nutritionist which should be interesting... then strength training this afternoon. It seems all my appoints are spaced just close enough that I can't get a run in but I may go to the gym early and do something on the treadmill - probably won't run because I don't want to be a sweaty mess for training. Nobody wants me dripping all over the weights and mats and stuff

I need to make granola so it needs to cool down! The forecast doesn't look promising though - in the 90's without much overnight cooling for the foreseeable future. I did try my yogurt with muesli. It wasn't terrible.

Food plans and challenges today? Those with weekend weakness, have you found anything that helps?

@MegaMooseEsq I think you were right. The 2 day gain could have been pizza.

No food plans here. I'm trying to stick to being the observant Catholic and do the no meat/fish eggs okay on Friday. All i want is chicken fried steak.
I think it was easier to adhere to kosher (the few years i did it. Jewish heratige and really wanted to raise my kids in it. But we moved to southern Oklahoma, where there is no Jewish presence ), than meatless fridays. Ok.. maybe its Catholic kosher.. haha! Aww where's my tradition.

I took today off. So think I'll out for a long walk. Think about what the heck I'm gonna eat today.

    Happy Friday y'all!

I have lost my bookmarked discussions again and had to go searching... so frustrating!
Ha @elise4270! I am pretty sure we always crave we aren't supposed to eat for whatever the reason!

Plans for the weekend... IP chicken again - cooked with salsa and shredded this time for making tacos, salads, etc.. DH wants to cook something in the smoker - probably ribs. And we have a teriyaki tri-tip in the freezer that I want to get on the bbq. If we cook all of that we will be set for next week since we leave for SF Thursday morning.

I saw the nutritionist yesterday for the first time since last December. We went over what I have been eating/macros/calories etc. and picked a few days to focus on. Specifically what I ate on Monday when I ran my long run and she pointed out that I was more then 1000 calories short that day even taking a 400 calorie deficit into consideration. Essentially I am still not eating enough and won't burn fat until I give my body more fuel to work with. She also feels it is contributing to that tired leg feeling that I have even when I have taken a rest day because I am not giving my body enough fuel to help my muscles recover properly. She laid out a specific meal plan for my normal run days, long runs and rest/easy days. It's a lot... more carbs and more protein. She is also running another set of tests to see if my cortisol levels have improved. I am supposed to start this after my race and see her back in a month.

I know it is a terrible problem to have but I really can't figure out how I am going to eat that much food... It also scares the crap out of me that I am going to gain even more weight - the science makes sense to me but the reality I am not so sure of.

@shanaber Sounds like a tough predicament with the diet. I did a boot camp ages ago and we girls ate 1600 calories a day. I didn't lose anything. Of course, I know I probably gained muscle maybe lost fat. But I couldn't see any changes.

The way I've been eating, I've lost maybe 2 pounds but I can see the fat loss. I suspect i have a few food intolerances that have been addressed. So I've found what works for me and I'm looking forward to that dexa scan in a few weeks. I did eat so much pizza again tonight  . And really need to get back to the do better goal before I undo all I've accomplished.

I don't want to second guess the dietitians plan, but if you feel it may not be what you need, you might incorporate a dexa scan (or similar) now and again to see the results and go from there.

I have a coworker that did the 21 day fix and complained it was just too much food. But it's all large portions of veggies that left him overly full. Idk. Its counterintuitive to eat when you're not hungry. Maybe its, eat before you're hungry.

Keep us updated. We all get to learn from each other.

@RunsOnEspresso - I will post some of the details tomorrow...
@elise4270 - she does a scan every time I see her and it is worth the price of admission as far as I am concerned, especially now that my insurance will cover my visits!

I did eat to her numbers sort of today and definitely felt awesome during my run with 30g carbs before I headed out.
Part of the problem is that I have stressed my body out by not eating enough for so many years (like 50), since I was a kid really, that my cortisol production is almost nonexistent. Part of the process is to get back to having somewhat normal cortisol levels and eating enough is a big part of that.
