My goal this week is to check-in here more often, and participate more. I read everyone's posts, but then feel too overwhelmed to respond. I've got another tough work week  Actually, the next three weeks aren't looking good. I had planned to lift this afternoon, and then got so carried away with work, I lost track of time and wasn't able to get there before they close  I did run this morning. It was awful - humid and exhausting. Goal #2 this week - try to get up and run before work!

    Daily Post - Sunday
    Track - no
Calories - probably - been so busy working I haven't eaten much
Exercise - miserable 4 mile run

Going to do my post now as my night is going to be busy.
Went to the gym this morning. My friend signed up to GoodLife and asked me to do Bodypump with her. So. I’m kinda glad I did. It was a good workout. Got home. Did yard work. A lot of it. Lugging sod. Dirt. You name it. Tonight we are doing fireworks with my sons. And s’mores. Im excited to see their faces.
    Track. Not really
    Calories. ?
    Exercise. Yes
    Water. 60 ounces

@ka97 I totally get the overwhelmed to respond thing.. If you reply to everyone you'd be writing a book. Sometimes I do just go for it and worry that I'm spamming the thread lol.

    @jennfalzon1979 Sounds like a great day. Reckon you've earned a few s'mores.

NSV. I only had two s’mores. Tonight was great. My kids drive me bonkers. They are 6, 3 & 11 months. But I love them dearly. We did a fire with s’mores and then fireworks and sparklers. I’ll forever remember the looks on their faces. Hope everyone had a great night. jbcek71nt7jd.jpeg

Trying intermittent fasting with keto in between. After I lost all that weight I thought I would reward myself and couldn’t stop. Just slowly gaining weight. Anyone else on keto. Slip up and have an old favorite and it just doesn’t taste like you used to. Having bad sugar cravings. But I’m extremely picky on what I eat.
    Any keto Friendly dessert??

If you like chocolate.. My daily indulgence has become what I call quick mousse. I was mucking around with keto choc icecream recipes and stumbled across something simple and yummy. I mix 15g of plain (not Dutch processed) cocoa powder and 15g of Natvia baking sweetener. It's a blend of stevia and erythritol. And 3 tablespoons (60g) of thickened cream, and mix it to a paste.

Note: Some ppl claim to be sensitive to erythritol. I've never noticed any issues so I don't know what they mean.
Pretty sure you can buy this in the USA.

Here is the nutritional breakdown from my recipe in MFP.

It's hard to imagine how addictive carbs are until you try to ditch them. I swear it was easier to quit smoking than savory crackers. But it looks like you are taking your body on a wild ride with the carbs there. I've found that a keto style low carb diet is just not something you can dabble in. At least initially, it's all or nothing. You need to flip that switch in your body that makes it turn to fat for it's energy needs. Later on, once you are keto adapted you can start adding carbs back to your life to a point..

Right now, when you have a 100g carb day, your body goes hey great, easy energy. Then it spends the next day or two waiting for some more before finally burning some fat to go on with.. Meanwhile you would be feeling ravenously hungry and flat with low energy. If you can dig deep for the willpower to get those carbs under control, you will become keto adapted and the fasting will become effortless.

Hope some of that helps. Stick with it, you've got this!

@IanMoone30 I can't eat sugar any more after almost a year on keto, and even when I intentionally have carbs, I don't find them satisfying anymore. I do Intermittent fasting just about every single day, 16:8 and when I don't go the whole time, I will only have a coffee with fat, no protein or carbs and that gives me a boost of energy and holds me over and I feel better.
As for dessert...I have quite the selection. Probably my favorites are:
Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies and Keto Pound cake which I usually make cupcakes out of and for the icing: Chocolate Cheesecake Fatbombs<----this fat bomb recipe works pretty well as icing.

The cookies I will say if you slightly under cook them seem to come out the best and you can even freeze them if you want to make a bunch ahead of time. Hope you find those helpful, I do have quite a few more in my arsenal here if you'd like to take a look: Keto Recipes I'm pretty sure this links to my Keto recipes..all of them..not just dessert..if you want to look through them.

Also, my favorite sugar substitute is Erythritol (which I usually get generic from Amazon) or Swerve is one of the name brands. It takes a little bit to get used to as it's got kind of a cooling effect to your taste for a little bit after you eat something with it in it, but I don't notice it anymore personally. I think it's also one of the easiest to bake with since the consistency is a lot closer to sugar and it's a 0 on the Glycemic Index.

^^This....100%. Sugar is just as addicting as drugs, your body craves it, mostly because it's the body's easiest source of energy to burn. You really have to be super strict for quite a bit, and then fasting becomes pretty natural as you are burning your body's own fat as fuel and rely a lot less on food for fuel.

    Daily Post (Sunday)

Goals: This week is a rest week from the gym. After hurting my back during the end of the last training cycle, I found out that after my 5 week interval, if I take an extra week off, my lifts just skyrocket, so that is what I'm adding in, even though I don't like the feeling of not going. It's worth it in the end. I've learned that if I give my body what it wants, I get what I want out of it.
Today has not been a great day, woke up with a headache that I'm starting to think only a bullet could cure. It's not quite migraine bad, but not far off. I've been barely functional, and it LITERALLY took me 10 hours to get my food prep done today for my hubby and me for the week, but I did it. I just finished it a little while ago and I'm trying to catch up with you guys before I head to bed, and hopefully just pass out.

Track: No, been really feeling not great today.
Calories: Probably not. I am sure I ate more than I meant to
Exercise:Not unless you count spending the afternoon in the kitchen and running up and downstairs to do laundry.
Water Intake: I have no idea, but I'm sure not enough, didn't feel like drinking anything either.

Hey team! Sorry I have been absent for a few days. I have been reading the posts, but for some reason, would forget to comment. I went to pound class on Friday and Saturday and got my butt thoroughly kicked!! I stayed below my calories all three days and drank about 100oz of water a day.

As for the Keto conversation, I too am doing this way of eating. I gave up Diet Coke, pasta, bread, and all sweets on Jan 1, 2018. I do not miss any of it at all. In fact, a few weeks ago, i had a Diet Coke and it tasted weird and was not at all satisfying! I drink a ton of water every day. In all honesty, I have had a couple of stalls and have been frustrated....I didn’t give up! I think I have experienced the elusive Keto Whoosh last night. I was up four times to the washroom during the night and this morning I was down almost three pounds! I was excited! So my best advice is to be super strict for the first month or so, do plenty of reading about Keto and how it works, and above all else, Do Not Give Up! Besides the weight loss, you feel so good...mentally and physically. Also, my skin has never looked better!

    Exercise - pre-work 3 mile run

I had planned to swim this afternoon. I forgot to bring my swim bag to work  The good news is that I work up early and decided to go for a run (wasn't on my plan for the week). So at least I'm still on track. I thought about doing a double run day, but the reason I had planned to swim was because of the heat. The rest of the week will all be doubles, so I'm making today my go straight home from work day.

Goals: Good busy day, bit too much crouching to work on the floor of the shed. Legs feel like I've done one of those squat/lunge workouts. Knees threatening to go on strike. My goal was to prepare the workshop for the new saw which I hope to pickup tomorrow. Stayed up a bit too late and had to fight off the late night snack fairy. A battle I plan to win. Mini-goal: Don't eat anything at midnight!
    Track: Yes

@River_Goddess You asked about some of the workshop projects. Truth is, right at the moment almost everything I'm making is purely utilitarian, like new legs for my pickup slide on camper etc. I'm happy with the result, but they aren't anything to show off. I do have a nice little woodwork project coming along and will post pics soon. But for now, here is a general DIY project I did which is kinda on topic for around here. I took my random old collection of free weights and restored them to as new condition. In the process making 5 brands of weights look like a set.

Each weight spent a night in the vinegar bath, then after a scrub had to be dried really quickly as it would start to rust in minutes. And the chrome pieces all got a gentle scrubbing with a brass bristled brush and aluminium foil. Anyway, photo collage tells it better than words.

    Calories: over
Track: yes... despite not wanting to
Water: good-ish but didn't count cups
Exercise: No... slept in late then visited friends then lounged around... urgh

Normally I'm a pretty upbeat person but today I'm feeling a little bummed. I feel slightly depressed and thus snacked more than I like today and the past few days. Halo Top on Friday was a bad idea, it kicked me out of ketosis, and then the false hunger signals coupled with my bummed out mood resulted in overindulgence all weekend. I ate a ton of calorie dense foods (loaded cauliflower, keto crackers, Lilys chocolate), and lounged around a lot the last few days. I'm ready to get over it and move on though!! Back to my usual routine. Strict keto, intermittent fasting, and reaching my step goals.

Hopefully my body will just slip back into ketosis quickly and easily as I'm well adapted. And hopefully it will take my overeating as a "carb up" and give me a whoosh this week. One can hope right?? :)

@Fyreside I love that project! Way to make a matching set... that would feel so satisfying, it tickles my neurosis!! LOL

@River_Goddess sorry to hear about your low day. I get in those “funks” to where I just say “SCREW IT” and indulge. It’s hard when food has been your comfort for so long. I hope you have a better day tomorrow. I recommend watching something funny on you tube. Watch whose line is it anyways featuring Richard Simmons. Guarantee to put you in a good mood!!!

@Fyreside I LOVE THIS!! Maybe some day I will do that to my mismatched free weights I no longer use at home because I like the barbell at the gym better. Of course, some day, when we move to a bigger and better house, I will be building a gym in the basement and then I will make my weights pretty.

@mexiconona I usually pre-track my food if I want to stay in my goal range...that way I know what I can eat before I even start eating.

@River_Goddess Sorry to hear you're having a crappy day, hope you feel better soon!!
I'm not a giant fan of Halo Top, for a few reasons...which I won't get into. Don't beat yourself up, you have had a great month...one day or even weekend is not going to kill you. I bet you will be back in ketosis within a day or two, usually it's pretty quick if you've been keto for a long time, for me, it's usually less than a day. It's entirely possible that taking you out of your routine can help trigger a whoosh...however, I have to tell you...I think you're doing great anyway

@jennfalzon1979 Any chance you'd like to travel to the USA, and fix up my garden? Just kidding, I'm giving up on it. I'm setting aside money for a landscaper at this point. I can't keep anything alive in my yard, including my grass. Actually, I take that back. I can grow weeds and poison ivy, which I only recently learned I was allergic to.

I've prepped, portioned and pre-logged my food for tomorrow, and I will walk to & from work - rain or shine!! I think a good night sleep and one solid, on-plan day is all it will take to get this train back on the tracks :)

Thanks for being there, this group is awesome.
