    Weigh week: May week 4
    Weigh-in day: Friday
    Previous weight: 192.5
    Current weight: 191.5

Comments: Super happy about the loss since I hadn't been weighing myself all week even though I was eating under deficit (but more than my goal). But the reason was because I felt bloated all week so I thought I had gained and was avoiding the scale until Friday lol. But this was a pleasant surprise. I do realize I'm going down slower than I want though. Kind of want to speed things up. Will try to be quicker next month. But we'll see. Overall I'm happy that I'm going down instead of up.

I'm a bit excited about something, and it's inspired a bit of a fitness ramble. Todays ramble is about stretching.

As many of you will know, I hit a plateau in April and decided to take the opportunity to do a maintainance month and focus my energy on developing some muscle bulk and tone, rather than the pure weight loss drive I'm normally pushing for. The month was a success, I ate big, worked hard and maintained weight while piling on muscle. By week 4 I felt much stronger and pretty much terrible. Waking every day feeling like I'd lost a fight with a bear.

After exploring several avenues of treatment, it became very clear that I was wound up as tight as a steel cable. I'd failed to increase my stretching with the muscle load. So I began researching stretching routines, trying to find ones suited to my physical characteristics and limitations. Started stretching out for a few minutes in bed while my muscles were all warm before getting up etc. And I'd like to report that in less than a month I've begun to feel so much better. I'm still doing the daily hard work, but I wake feeling far less cramped and sore. Which has opened the door to doing more, and better stretches as well as a bit of light yoga and some gentle back self manipulations which I've tried before but never had any success with.

I'm all excited because I just did my first successful butterfly back manipulation and WOW, I feel like I have a whole new mid to upper spine lol. Anyway, one last fun fact about stretching. When we hit 30, our bodies cease daily production of the hormone that stimulates protein synthesis. Making us completely reliant on our food protein intake, which for many people is barely sufficient or way too staggered throughout the day. But stretching causes the body to make and release that hormone, aiding in everything from muscle development, recovery times to bone density.

So if like me, you've been neglecting your stretching. I heartily recommend adding a bit to your daily routine.

I'm going to do two check ins because I was out of cell/Wi-Fi range last night.

    Daily Post Friday
Tracked? Yep - went back and logged it
Calories? Went way over but made up for it with exercise, so net cals was under.
Exercise? Danced for hours at a fancy lakeside house party (so outside my normal daily life routine and I loved it!). Downside: I didn't wear my fitbit so the calorie burn and steps weren't counted
    Water? Lots
Sleep? Only 6 hours and I paid for it today. Was up 3lbs this morning and super slow and tired all day.

    Daily Post Saturday
    Tracked? Yep
    Calories? Under
    Exercise? 19000 steps
    Water? 8-10 cups
Sleep? Going for min 8-9 hours tonight

    To the ladies:
Ever wake up with your T.O.M. and be like. “Huh. That explains so much”. Bloated, craving pizza and ice cream and Pop (weird for me) and crabbier than a crab.
@jennfalzon1979 I pretty much crave pizza everyday so there's that...I swear, a couple days before I start noticing things, tired, can't get my crap together, want to eat everything in sight and I'm like wth body and then it finally gets here and it's like oh, right, that's why everything has gone to hell...
    tinak33 wrote: »
    Yup!
Except mine is not expected till end of next week.... so that doesn't explain the massive junk food craving I indulged in yesterday.... or the 10 hershey's kisses..... :D:D
@tinak33 You'd be surprised, you can see some symptoms days before the actual visit, I know I do, but not everyone does, I wish I was one of the lucky ones. Of course, weight loss has drastically changed mine so I'm hoping it settles back into a routine..

@Fyreside I love it, it's like Fitness Friday with your host Fyreside. lol. Right you are though. I can tell you that I recently neglected stretching and it can cause so many issues. I found out between my trainer and my chiropractor that my hip issues were caused by a couple of things, but a lack of stretching was one of them. Since I've been working on it myself and my trainer, in a matter of weeks I'm able to bend over and touch my toes again, something I haven't been able to do since like high school, which I just realized is damn near 15 years ago for me now. Crap, now I'm feeling old again. It's also improved my mobility, which is vitally important to my lifting. I'm able not to squats much deeper, which in turn allows me to clean and jerk and snatch much more weight than before as you need to catch the bar low in order to get under it. Long story short, @Fyreside you are 100% right.

I survived wine day and pizza day yesterday. Logged my weight at 178.8.

Today I’m doing a new workout called Body Attack. It’s sports inspired cardio. Can’t wait.

Really happy to get under 110kg. And since I'm off my last plateau and losing fast, I will be pushing really hard to hit 100 before the next stall occurs. See you all in June. :)

@KatieWW Pretty special occasion when someone hits goal. Really happy for you. Buffer sounds like a cool idea. But I suspect you just like hanging out with us. ;)

A little disappointing, but also a bit expected. This was my rest week so it's not really a big surprise that I'd be up a little since I wasn't particularly active this week. But there's next week and next month. However I suspect that next month might be a bit of a challenge with my vacation, but we will see.

I went to pound class in the morning, despite being totally exhausted from Friday! Happy to have gone. But the rest of the day, I didn't track...but I didn't eat anything crazy either. But last night, after lacrosse, we went to a surprise retirement party for a teacher I worked with....he is so awesome and we will miss him! But I digress....I drank for the first time in five months! Let's just say, I was a cheap date! Three drinks and that was it for me!! Happy Sunday everyone! Back to the lacrosse field again today!
