I know that's not necessarily meant to be funny, but I did find it funny. We all have those, we are, after all, only human.

I am 40 years old and would like this year to be my fittest one ever! I am married with three children, youngest is 4. The past several years I dealt with ankle injuries and have had 2 surgeries. I also have flare ups of plantar fasciitis. I am an autistic support teacher and I tend to stress eat. I started Hammer and Chisel, hoping to see some changes this month!0

Hi team, I'm Bryce from East coast Australia. I joined the Slimsons last October at 307lb and I'm now 250lb My goal is to get under 200 just as soon as I reasonably can. I do disappear into the bush, out of internet coverage from time to time but I will be chatty whenever I'm around
@Fyreside I'm really looking forward to some more of your stories, however, preferably, ones that don't involve tool accidents

Hi guys! I'm Elisabel retuning to see if I can do even better in May. I'm 39, I have 3 children, 2 dogs, and a husband, so like most of you I keep busy! I like the structure and accountability that this challenge provides. I have yoyo dieted all my life but I see a shift in how I am approaching diet and exercise this time around and it's slowly working. I'm not in a rush this time, I just want to make small changes that I can sustain.

@elisabel You had a great month last month and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens this month. Small changes are key to making lasting change, great way to look at how you'll achieve your goals!!0 -
Hi there everyone,
My name is Jodi. I am 44 and live in New Brunswick, Canada. I am married with two teenage sons and two dogs. I teach middle school English and have started the countdown to summer break! I do love my job, but everyone looks forward to vacation! I have been part of Team Slimsons since I joined MFP on January 1. This team offers a ton of support and advice. Since January,I have lost 35 pounds on the scale, lots of inches, work out six times a week, and follow a keto diet. I am really finding success this time and look forward to another awesome month!2 -

@JJKM02 That's amazing success, not just on the scale, but to workout 6 days a week and also lose inches--so glad to see you return for another great month!!0 -
@AB0215 I love how you are tagging people to make it easier to find the thread. I can’t believe they haven’t fixed it yet.0

@jennfalzon1979 I know that Craig submitted a ticket, but in effort to speed it up, I did too and got a really irritating response 48 hours later, they're aware of the issue and they're working to fix it, no ETA. I'm just really annoyed by this. I'm trying to be patient, but it's been more than a week...just saying.
I'm trying to do my best to help everyone out as much as possible, but unfortunately, there's only so much I can do.1 -

Manic Monday at work. Trying to do more research into a Ketogenic Diet, for those on here who follow Keto what are the best and most informative articles for starting and following this kind of diet? I found this graphic online, wondering how accurate it is:
It looks good to me, @gemwolf110
When I first went keto, I went on a bender watching Dr.Berg on YouTube. He's not perfect, but he does get a lot right and explains things in an understandable way.
I don't personally do high fat keto because I want my body to use it's stored fat for fuel (instead of running on fats from food). Once I hit maintainence and don't want to lose anymore body fat, I will need to up the dietary fats. Unless you're at goal, OR doing a medically thereputic version of keto (for seizures, migraines, etc) know that one does not *need* to slather everything in coconut oil and bacon and butter1 -

@gemwolf110 It does actually look like a good representation of what you'd normally eat on keto. I don't tend to eat a lot of the things you CAN have, but yeah, people say how restrictive it is, but I don't feel like that's really true. There are many foods you can still eat, you just eat by macros rather than focusing on calorie counts, which is probably the better way to go anyway since it would give you more quality food choices anyway.
I personally didn't care too much for Dr, Berg, he talks about not counting carbs from salads...which can surprisingly add up and potentially kick you out of ketosis, I know, that was a trap I fell into, but he does have a LOT of great videos despite some of his pitfalls, I like a lot of his videos on hormones while on keto. He's a chiropractor and he doesn't really talk a lot about his profession, I feel like he should be more honest, rather than just calling himself Dr. Berg, having said that, chiropractors tend to know a lot about how to fuel the body and how muscles actually work vs a medical doctor, and my own chiropractor supports keto.
Having said that, I do tend to gravitate towards the higher fat, which gives me a bit more energy throughout the day, which I need for my competition training workouts, but there are MANY ways to go, however I do suggest that you start with high fat until you've trained your body to use the fat for fuel (takes a few weeks) then experiment with the fat macro to see how low you can go and still lose weight, as you'd be potentially using more stored fat at that point, unless you're super active, then you'll be using a lot of stored fat anyway and the more fat you eat will give you more energy.
One of my favorite places to send people to start is https://ruled.me/
They explain a LOT of things there in plain terms and it's where I got a lot of my starting information. They simplify a lot of things and suggest starting very simple, a protein source, a fat source and a keto friendly low carb veggie. I personally went with steak, broccoli, and butter for a few weeks until I started gaining more confidence in tracking the macros and then branched out.2 -

@gemwolf110 [
The chart that you posted is a great visual. I originally got my information from a website that my doctor gave me. It is www.dietdoctor.com. It was a great resource for me with tons of information. My best advice is as follows. #1 Start simple. Eat lots of veggies and meats. Don't try to be fancy. You will be full for longer and only eat when you are hungry. #2 Continue to read tons of information and find what works for you. I joined keto Facebook groups and read all the time. There is a great Netflix documentary called The Magic Pill. That would be useful for you to watch as well. #3 Expect to experience the keto flu for a few days and to have a dry mouth (with bad breath) for a while. It does go away and you will feel so much better. #4 Drink lots of water. #5 Be prepared for amazing results including weight loss, mental clarity, so much energy, clearer skin etc.
Hope this helps with your starting point. I will probably never go back to eating bread, pasta, or anything processed.
