Here’s a picture of Luke in his bookshelf cubby hole. I’ve only had him a few months, and he’s still young / shy. My previous bun passed away last year at age 13, so I thought it was finally time to adopt a new one!7 -

Turns out TOM is HERE...Might be a contributor to the gain I had. *Shrug* Not sure about starting yoga tomorrow, but I hear exercising can be good for cramps and mood so we'll see. My first week wanting to get started with it and I just had to start...🤦♀️

I read this three times before realizing that TOM is not an ex boyfriend, hahah! Hope you feel better quickly!4 -
Oh team your making me laugh. Between cute bunnies, kittens and Toms.
Great weekend!
I have spent the whole day in the kitchen organizing. Still not done. I started my running program today and did my yoga. We also watched a “tidying up” first episode on Netflix.
The snacks I was going to make last night ended up my dinner.

@twyla77 Nice loss! I know you were expecting more but at least the scale is going in the right direction. Keep doing what you are doing. Looks like you had another great day today. Luke is such a cutie! I think I would be walking around town looking for his favorite treat too!
@cassiegetsfit2013. I am sure you had a gain because of your TOM. Hope you feel well enough to start yoga.
@mrsbell8well. Yummy looking dinner!
@lenka1 Awesome NSV! You must have been so happy! Sounds like you’re having a nocd weekend!
@czvanut-I was wondering what you were doing. Lol! I was going to say taking decorations down or cleaning. Sounds like another successful day!1 -

I knew I ate a lot of Chinese at New Year but I have worked really hard to stay the same. I was feeling weridly fat and bloaty yesterday which either signifies TOM or its the spiced cabbage. In any case I have been here before I just have to hold my nerve and I will get a good loss either next week or the following.6 -

Stayed the same which I call a victory. The weekend wasn't the greatest and I didn't drink enough, my rings are tight so I'm retaining water. But we had fun at my daughter's house and enjoyed the food and "gasp" dairy I had! This week I'm going to buckle down and get back to my lower carbs..I ate far too many sweet potato fries last week7 -

It was a nice weekend at home. We got all of the Christmas decorations put away, went to my son’s soccer game, cleaned, shopped, and found some time to relax. It was also one of my best weekends for steps...which is good because it offset some of the snacks I should’ve skipped!
Have a nice Monday!7 -

A great week for me. I got over 10K steps four days and stayed within my calories 6/7 days. Also went to the gym 4 days last week with my husband joining me. My husband, daughter and son in law are joining me with goals of losing weight and getting more fit. This week was good for all of us with a total of 8.8 pounds lost.9 -

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, what a nice group of strong people here .
A little bit about me:
My name is Ella, 43yo mom of 2 boys - 7 and 17yo. After my second boy, in 2013 I lost 35lbs with MFP just by logging all my food and exercising. Then I had a surgery and took some time off. When I started exercising again, I didn't start slow, I just jumped right back where I have had left before surgery and hurt my plantar fascia. It was bad, I could barely walk. So I gained all my weight back. Now I want to lose the same 35lbs for good this time8 -

@hope002 I love your profile pic! Yes we are a strong team. I Hope your able to heal quickly.
@jedaschultz great loss this week! I love that you and your family are doing this together. My goal is 10k steps a day as well. I am on day 9 I think.
@shirin_K it is so nice when you have a productive weekend AND your able to relax. That is such a plus before starting another busy week.
@carlsoda nice that you were able to have a good time at your daughters. And your right...staying the same weight can be a relief some weeks. Good luck this week with your goals.
@bmaison2014 The new year has just started. You will be back in the onderland soon. Stay with us. You might want to try checking in more often to see if that works for you. I know we have tons of team support and not everyone that reads daily posts, feels inclined to chime in. It's optional but I find that it really helps me to express where I am at and helps me stay the course.
@amsandos it is hard to get back on course after a big night out. And you are absolutely right...it takes a strong effort to keep our "nerve" in check after a weigh in that is not what we expected. I think @CassieGetsFit2013 nailed it when she said what she said. Sorry I have to look back to see how she worded it. But sometimes the number on the scale makes us feel like "oh well...I might as well keep eating"...Or it can set us up to motivate us to strive for more success. It's actually silly that we give that little scale so much power. Isn't it about how well we stayed the course...not the number on the scale? We may know that intellectually but our emotions can wreak havoc and miss with us all the way until our next weigh in. Makes me feel like I am on a "diet" if it doesn't go the way I want it to. Then I have to get cleaver to think what I have to do differently instead of listening to my body. It's a journey for sure.
@sleepymom5 Love the meme...lol...That pretty much sums it up! How are you feeling Pam? Are you starting to feel your energy returning? It can take awhile to get back up and running. Really best to listen to our bodies.3 -

7 day string on new plan
Ok. So my sunday was full of food and I stayed on track all weekend. We went to the grocery store and bought most of the food that I needed. Then we went out to breakfast where I just had 2 eggs over easy and 2 sausage. Then went to walmart so the ole boy could get oil for the cars. Then went to Randazzo's. A fresh produce and food market. We didn't get home till noon. Then I ate lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon prepping. I am ready for the week. I made Vietnamese chicken bowls for dinner. ohhh so yummy and healthy. Last sunday and this sunday jim got kinda perturbed at how long I was spending prepping. he would say little snotty remarks like why don't you just give it a rest. Then he asked if he could help and when I gave him a task he was snotty about that. I told him that I realize that this new eating plan of mine is taking a lot of time and a lot more money but we will be so much better for it in the long run. He says yeah.... we'll see. he is pretty supportive as long as it doesn't inconvenience him. oh well. he is going to need to get over it.
@Shirin_K I am so glad you are enjoying your fitbit. you sound like you had a productive weekend. got a lot done. so active. that means you burnt way more calories. what does your fitbit say about it. when I am active all day, I find that I burn as much as 600 more calories.
@Mrsbell8well everyone else pretty much said everything I would have told you. the only thing I would add is that just a few days ago, you were upset by how people were treating you about how you were eating. isn't it funny how we learn how to treat people. you did the same thing to your daughter. now I am not saying this to be mean. I am saying this because we all need to be careful to not judge harshly. jim is impatient with me about this new way of eating. and because he does, if I eat off plan, I feel like I now have to hide from him so as not to get lectured. I just don't want robyn to start feeling like she needs to hide her food. above all else tho, remember that you are a human being and you make mistakes. don't beat yourself up about it, learn from it and move on. and where did you get that sea weed? that cheese cake looks delish. how does it travel? could you pack me up some and ship it to me? and as usual your dinner looks yummo!! I just recently went thru most of my kitchen cupboards. I feel so much more organized. it is so much easier to prepare food when you have what you need at your finger tips.
@czvanut don't you freak out and leave us. freak if you must but leaving is not an option. so you messed up, so what? put it away and move on. I am going to tell you the same thing I told @Mrsbell8well , don't beat yourself up about it, learn from it and move on. I am taking the bat away from you so you can't beat yourself up no more. you got this. looks like your sunday was a good day in spite of that fickle scale.
@ljdanny you are doing so well. good job drinking your water.
@carlsoda thanks for the tutorial. I am going to try it again. maintains are good. spend some quality time and refocus your energy. no more holidays till easter!
@nstephenson01 omgosh you exercised everyday last week. look at the new you go. I think i am going to join a CSA this coming summer. if I were you I would make pumpkin bread. ommmmm yummo. and have you ever ate raw pumpkin? it is delicious.
@sleepymom5 I just recently went thru all my clothes. omg 53 years old. that's not possible. happy birthday girl. and you are right. this week is going to be a loooooong one! I need to get my *kitten* in gear too. lol focus focus focus
@Cafelelia what exactly is physio exercises?
@CassieGetsFit2013 don't you worry about that cassie. December was a fantastic month for you. this is just a little blurp on the map. TOM is not our friends when it comes to weigh in day. and that is a normal response. but remember it's not the best response. don't let this derail you girl. keep moving forward. don't let TOM stop you from yoga. it helps alleviate cramps.
@DananaNanas is a human, dana is a human... na na na na na!!
@twyla77 when you get so close to your goal weight. losing becomes very difficult. it is almost like your body is fighting losing more weight. Im gonna tell you the same thing too. don't beat yourself up about it, learn from it and move on. and what did you learn? that the scale is fickle and is not a true detector of your efforts. bunny is soooo cute. is he litter trained? good job staying on track even tho the scale was a turd.
@lenka1 omgosh a size 5? you are tiny!! gonna start calling you skinny Minnie!! what a wonderful NSV. YES... Summer bodies are made in the winter!
@amsandos nice maintain. you did well over the holiday. now lets kick it in gear. no more holidays till easter!!
@bmaison2014 that is just a small gain. you know how to make this work. spend some time today and refocus your energy. your next milestone is onederland!!
@jedaschultz woooo whoooo... nice loss wow the four of you lost 8.8 lbs. it is so much easier to lose weight if every one does it with you. good job sticking to your plan.
@hope002 your goals are totally doable. you are off to a great start. what kind of skating do you do? great we got another yogie too!

I am happy overall how the weekend went but my exhaustion was replaced with hunger. I did avoid the chocolate pretzels but had cereal last night. It fit in my calories but I really didn't need it. I am going to re do the hunger sections in my book. For all the new people, @cyndiesstuff had recommended The Beck Diet Solution book to me a few months back. It isn't a diet, it is about behaviors. I love it but got almost 2 weeks into it and the holidays happened. I thought I was ready to pick up where I left off but I clearly need to go back and redo the hunger sections. I resisted and did well in Dec just to mess it up in January. Ugh! Today I need to finish packing up and putting away the decorations, I need to go food shopping and I would like to do the stationary bike again or Shannon asked me to go to the gym(for the new people-my 22 daughter who is my exercise/eating right buddy) We will see. Tonight we are having zucchini lasangna which I have made before and I think I can use a lot less cheese. So my day is planned pretty much. No reason to not do well. Hope everyone has a great day!
@amsandos Great attitude! You are right, it could be any of those things. Keep doing what you’re doing. You will see a loss soon!
@bmaison How’s it going? Hope all is well
@carlsoda. Maintaining isn’t bad. Glad you had a good weekend. New week and it sounds like you know what to do.
@shirin_k sounds like a good and productive weekend. Keep it going through the week. You have been doing so well!
@jedaschultz. Nice loss this week! Sounds like you had a great week. I love your family are on board with losing weight and getting fit. It is nice to have others along with you.
@hope002 I am glad you are here! I think that you will like this group. Come and check in as much as you like. I have you down for Friday weigh ins. If that is wrong lmk.
@mrsbell8well I am feeling much better. After I did get my energy back, I am glad I did rest. I was afraid I was being lazy but turns out I must have needed to rest. I feel like I went backwards with my progress but I am happy that I am back and can go forward now.
@cyndiesstuff Sounds like a good weekend. My husband is sort of the same way. It is ok that I do this if it doesn't effect him. He thinks I can go out to lunch and dinner and drink at the drop of a hat since I am good otherwise. He just doesn't get it. I could picture him doing the same thing with offering to help and then being annoyed. Lol! That is why I like this team so much, we can talk about our good days, our struggles and get support. That is not always the case at home. Shannon is really the only one who really has an interest at home. My son wanted me to drink with him during the eagles game. I wasn't even watching, I was taking dow christmas decorations Lol!3 -

@cyndiesstuff Oh Cyndie! Let me say: you’re too nice lol I am def nowhere skinny (healthy &fit) though... YET
Guys:
I want to share this thought with you. It may be harsh but... it made me start the weighloss journey.
The journey that I know I will finish successfully. This time.
I went to a thyroid specialist- got all sorts of tests done. Hoping it would show there is something wrong with me so I could just blame something why I am “chubby” and look this way.
When the results came in. I was shocked. The dr was not sugar coating anything.
She was like. Your thyroid is perfect. All your results are great. However you body fat is so high. You’re over 40%. She told me: “You need to start making healthy choices. ASAP”
I came home and thought (cried) a lot about it.
It was my choice. My choice to be be “fat”
We often want to blame someone or something for our choices. Unable to take consequences for our own actions. Simply bc it’s easier..
As bad as our choices are and cause all sorts of issues. (I’m not talking about just weight issues) We have an amazing tool in our hands. Our own will to change things. No one can do it for you... but YOU!
And I understand there are certainly people who have mental/physical problems and their genetics play role. So please don’t get offended if you’re one of them. This message isn’t meant for you.
My point is lol! Most of us are causing ourselves to get to the point where we are unhappy and unhealthy BUT We are also the ones who can undo it. No one says it’s easy (it’s not at all) but the reward that comes with that journey is so worth it.
Sorry for a long post but I needed a reminder myself. Have a great Monday everyone! Make your choices...

Yesterday was a good day for me. I was just a little over on calories - less than 100, drank my water - still working on increasing that, and got in over 5,000 steps. I took a picture of the finished puzzle (1000 pieces) and will try to post it here. Got another one to start soon. Also working on cross stitch project while watching (or not) night time TV.6
-
@lenka1 Thanks so much for that reminder! One of the great benefits I'm getting from this group is the daily reinforcement that my health IS my choice, and that I'm in control of my diet.
My hubs sort of rolled his eyes at me the other day, because he pulled out the Poncho's Cheese Dip we got around Christmas (we can't find it here in NC, so it's a real treat) and I measured out 1 serving of chips and 1 serving of cheese for myself. I just said to him, "look, I want to actually have progress and that won't happen if I go bonkers, but there's room in my calorie allowance to have this snack, so I'm going to do it responsibly." He's supportive of me, but I realized in that moment that I was the one always sabotaging myself, and I have the ability to control what I eat. It's weird that it's such a revelation, because it should be a no-brainer.
Anyway, stay positive, and stay in control! Have a great day!7 -
@lenka1 great insite!!! this goes right alone with what you are saying. You know how I gained weight? not because I was sick and I was. not because I was on all kinds of medications that cause weight gain and I was. it was because I chose to eat more than my body burned. I said to heck with it. it is to hard. it is easier to sit on the couch and feel sorry for myself and eat. after all, who could blame me? it hurt to move. but I gained weight because I quit caring about who I was and what I looked like. it was my choice. there was no magic pill that was going to fix it. I was the only one who could fix it.
@pacsnc6 good job staying on track. I tried to do cross stitch once. lol. epic fail!! I am just not very crafty. I really envy people who are.
@czvanut why do people feel the need to judge your food? I had a person say to me, "I don't want to be skinny if it means starving!" lol. are you kidding me? first of all it was none of her business. second of all I certainly am not starving. I eat really well.
This was my dinner last night has grilled chicken breast, carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, jasmine rice, and lime. With a homemade Mayo with sriracha sauce on top5 -

@cyndiesstuff yes I agree with you. That’s why I felt so terrible and tried to make amends. Robin and I talked again last night about all of this. I always say this is such a personal journey. Every aspect of it. And on a side note I failed to mention just how much I LOVE pork rinds. Waaaahhh
AND...Cyndie you forget VALENTINES day!!!
2 -
@hope002 is that roller skating or ice skating? either way, great exercise. really gets the ole heart rate up!!
@Mrsbell8well I didn't forget valentines day. what i forgot was that not everybody celebrates it. I guess some folks celebrate it. we don't in my house at least not with junk food. love notes maybe... romantic gestures... all calorie free! in fact if you love right you can burn some calories.. A vigorous kiss that involves some petting could burn as many as 90 calories per hour, reports WomansDay.com, a figure that computes to 1.5 calories per minute. lol gonna tell the ole boy its time to pucker up and burn some calories!4
