@cyndiesstuff btw...I get my seaweed from the local co-op. Health food stores often sell it and I am sure it is online. I have about 4-5 different seaweeds at home but this is the one I use for the detox smoothie. It hits all the right notes for me.
I am thinking about coming up with a special V-day celebration dinner. I spend so much time focusing on my food...it would be nice to have something healthy and fun. Maybe heart shape beets? I did that for a salad one year for an event that I catered. very nice.1 -
@cyndiesstuff you're so right - i shouldn't beat myself up over not losing more but i've been stuck in this range for so long, it seems like it doesn't matter if i work out/eat well or lie around/eat junk food, nothing changes! I know i just need to push myself a little harder to get these last few off and get to my goal! (and yes - Luke is litter trained - he has free roam of the apartment and he's so good! never had an accident or pooped outside of his box! He has however chewed a hole through the carpet right to the floor board, but thankfully that's hidden under the couch...oops.)
@sleepymom5 thanks for always being so supportive!

Daily Check Sunday
Food - Logged & under
Water - 1 litre
Exercise - Physio & 5126 steps
Sick kiddos at home so am a little late today
@cyndiesstuff - Physio exercises are the exercises I have been assigned for the sciatica in my right leg. I have to do twice a day & it takes 40 minutes total. Am logging here to stay motivated. Don’t pay attention to any snarking about your food prep. Our loved ones can be supportive yet have their bad days too. Just stay the course!!
@hope002 - the cycle you described (weight loss, injury, weight gain & trying again) is exactly the one that I am on too. It is frustrating, but we can do this!3 -
Well, day one of yoga didn't get completed today. Having bad leg, knee and hip pain due to TOM and then some lower back and stomach cramps/pain. Met with Clinician and she helped me fill out some papers, then took me to my Counselor. My sessions went alright, we had to go over a new treatment plan and will hopefully finish that the next session. Also, she is the second to agree about me having Anhedonia, have yet to talk to Psych about it. Tomorrow is my Dr. Appt. Really nervous cause although I'll be seeing my Dr. I've had for a few years now, it's at a new place, so I know my nerves, anxiety and BP will be up. Thankfully the main reason for the appt. Is my BP follow up and just to get in with the new place. Now, I didn't reach my 3k steps today, legs were in a lot of pain and I'm having dinner that I tried counting calories for, but then it erased and I got to irritated to do it again, so might be going over some, hopefully not a whole lot.7

I feel like I've fallen off the wagon today. There was a news story about new research that shows working out doesn't help that much with weight loss and I felt discouraged so I didn't go to the gym this morning. Then someone brought leftover Christmas candy to work and I had several pieces. On the way home I got bacon cheeseburgers for dinner for my son and me and then we also had pizza rolls for second dinner. I probably regained in one day my loss from last week.
@lenka1 You make some very good points. I do have thyroid disease and it might make it harder for me to lose weight but mostly what I eat affects my weight more than anything. I do well when I make good choices but I set myself back when I don't. I tend to sabotage myself sometimes when I lose a few pounds then I go off the rails and gain it back plus some. This is a pattern that I really need to break.
I really appreciate everyone in this group and all your contributions. I don't write much but I do enjoy reading everyone's posts.8 -
Checking in late. I was watching that movie on Netflix with Sandra Bullock.. It was a little scary but I thought it was good. I will check in tomorrow am as usual....
@lenka1. You are so right. It took me years to learn that. Thanks for taking the time to write that post
@pacsnc6 that does sound like a great day! So many of my MFP friends are doing puzzles this time of year!
@czvanut I love how you enjoyed your snack and made sure you had a normal portion. Chips and dip can lead to mindless eating so that is a great habit to get into!
@cyndiesstuff I was thinking of that saying you posted when I was reading @lenka1’s post.BTW-that dinner looks amazing!
@eminater. Awesome loss! So your current weight is 204 I take it not 206.6. Last weeks (previous weight) was 206.6 right?
@cafeleia looks like another good day! Hope everyone starts feeling better soon!
@cassiegetsfit2013. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow. I hope the doctor can do something about that blood pressure.
@gottagetthisdown. Hope all is going well.
@lovemickeymouse the important thing is to just get back on track. Exercise is so much more than just weight loss. Do it for all the reasons it benefits your body. You can do this!2 -

WEEK 2
PW - 189
CW - 183.8
Loss of 5.2lbs!!
I think a lot of the gain last week was just due to me eating heavy food the day before I weighed in. But even still, I’m very pleased!
I usually have a “reward” on a Tuesday if I’ve lost anything, but I’m not going to do that from now on.
I really believe I have a food addiction.. all it takes is for me to have “just one” of something, and it will lead to me binging uncontrollably all day. So I’m going to try to just not have anything bad, I need to prove to myself that I actually have some will power!
I hope you’re all well and I can’t wait for next weigh in!!x7 -
So I'm a teacher and a pretty empathetic person anyway so my kids' issues often wear me out too. Yesterday, I was just overwhelmed thinking of all the various problems my students have, which usually makes me come home and have a drink and lots of comfort food.
I kept the comfort food, but was fairly smart about it and instead of alcohol, I had some watered down, "sugar free" cranberry juice. Stayed on track and then did yoga and some meditation before bed.
Like a lot of folks in this group, I can be really judgmental towards myself. I still am, but today, I don't have to regret my diet choices yesterday. That's a win!7 -
@lenka1 what a brilliant post. So good of you to share. I have been thinking for a while. I just need to get used to eating less. What I am doing is too important. My daughter keeps saying to me she wants me to be around when she is older. As I am an older mum I have my work cut out. The only way I can do this for her is to build the foundation now to be fit an stong and get my weight down. Plus it won't be terrible to be buff - I am actually quite enjoying the process of transformation. No, honestly.

I have a pizza and wine night on Friday. I am determined to have my pizza and lose. I have been on the website to check out the lowest calorie pizzas and I have been looking up skinny wines. I am going to profile my calories so just sticking to my allowance or as close as I can get and not taking any from my activity. I will be happy with a1lb loss next week.

Good morning everyone, I hope you all are doing well. Lately, I haven't been consistently tracking my food, water or exercise so my weight has fluctuated for the last few weeks. I plan to get back on track today, I made smoothies and my lunch last night and drank a smoothie on my way in to work this morning. Consistency is most important when it comes to a healthier you and a slimmer you. Let's keep at it and see what happens5

Yesterday went well. It was the first day I was not hungry. don't know if that will always happen but it certainly was nice to not be hungry from 3 oclock till dinner. But, the ole boy is sick and didn't sleep well. he tossed and turned all night poor guy. ughhh so I slept like crap!
@eminater I am confused with your weigh in. it says current weight 206.6 but then it says week 2 204 pounds. I lost. sorry. you have three lines of weights. you should only have 2. your previous weight which is week one weigh in and your current weight which is week two weigh in. can you please clear this up for me. It's a nice loss, i think. so it should look like this going forward:

@Cafelelia oh no! I am sorry the kids are ill. it certainly is going around. hope they get better quickly. ohhh I did know what it was. so it's kind of like your therapy then. I get it. lol some times im a little slow.
@CassieGetsFit2013 have you though about the foods you feed your body and their ability to help you heal your brain? I am not a specialist but I would think that you need to start working on the physical wellness of your brain. Food can be a very helpful medication for your brain. maybe see if you can get a nutritionist? I just really feel for you hun. your stuggles are hard. you hang in there and don't you give up.
@twyla77 you look at you Twyla! meeting your daily goals. great job.
@gottagetthisdown I have really missed you checking in. and that is just a small gain. you know how to do this. lets refocus today. spend some time working out a daily plan you can commit to. you will get this done.
@lovemickeymouse first off love the profile pic. now as for falling off the wagon. this is a normal part of the process. it is what you learn when you fall that will help you from doing it again. really analyze why you fell. write it down. work a plan on paper of what you will do next time differently. you need to try and stop the down fall before it happens. what were the early warning signs that you were going to fall? these can be clues to help you stop it before it starts. and what you are speaking of happens to all of us. I call it the slippery slope. once you start heading down it it is to slippery to get back up and you keep sliding. the key to to stop the slip before it happen and then what you do in response to the thought of slipping. for instance, last night my fiancé made butter popcorn, it smelled delicious. I felt the urge. the feeling. the trigger. I immediate pulled out my emergency plan. a note card I keep posted on my frig. what to do when I feel I am slipping. it is a list of things I can go instead to change my mind. I drink tea, or have a crispy veggie snack, or leave the room, or take a walk. anything to change my mind. maybe you should make your emergency plan.
@sleepymom5 what movie is that?
@Ashleigh1178 omgosh!!! that is awesome. nice way to get back on track. byby holidays. look out 2019 here we come!! please read the post above it addresses your issue as well. this is not a unknown thing! this is one of the main reasons we all have a problem with our weight in the first place. so read @lovemickeymouse response above. maybe you and her become friends and use each other as part of your emergency plan.
@czvanut first of all thanks for loving and teaching our children. and what a wonderful nsv. you are really changing to a more healthy way of coping with the love you feel for your children. good job girl.
@amsandos we all want you to be around when you are older too. it is so important to take care of your childs mother. she needs you in her life. just a suggestion on your pizza night. I, before I started on my new eating plan, would eat pizza. I have a favorite pizza joint. ohhh their pizza is so good. I would eat a huge salad first before the pizza came. then allow myself 2 slices and I would drink water. great job on the preplanning. preplanning is the road to success.
@phoebe112476 omgoooosh another 2 pounds down. that is awesome. keep that up girl. you are doing great.

I have to take my son to the doctors so I have to run. In a nutshell, did well yesterday, missing the trainer today so need to do some strength today too. Eating pretty well, still working on the evening hunger. I am going out tonight with my ICU buddies so have to plan ahead. Hope everyone is having a great day!
Is anyone else having problems on the newsfeed?
Congrats Team Weigh No More!
We were in 2nd place for lbs lost and 3rd place for percentage of weight lost!
Our stepping team is doing great too! 3rd place this week!
Congrats to the biggest losers on our team
@Czvanut for 1st
@Carlsoda for 2nd
@Cyndiesstuff for 3rd
@ashleigh1178 Awesome loss! Why don’t you find something else to reward yourself for a loss. Do something just for you. Just remember when you resist, you are reinforcing that behavior and it will make it easier down the road. Great job this week and keep it going!
@cvanut You have been doing so well, it would be a shame to ruin it with stress or emotional eating. I like how you substituted with healthy options yesterday. Maybe you can make a plan that would be something you would look forward to and enjoy for those stressful times. And most of all won’t regret afterwards. Definitely a win yesterday!
@amsandos-I like how you are planning for Friday. You will find it is so much easier when you have a plan to follow.
@gottagetthisdown sounds like you know what to do and I know you will do it! Glad to hear you are getting back on track
@phoebe112476. In the 180s! That is awesome!
@cyndiesstuff. Hooray about the hunger, boo about the sleep. Hope you aren’t dragging too much today. The movie is called Bird Box.

@cyndiesstuff Wifey made buttered popcorn last night as well. Lol. I just do my best not to think about it.
Seemed to be doing good yesterday till late afternoon. I ended up with another headache. Caused me nausea so I had to skip dinner. I got home and dreaded the thought of doing yoga...and it was a particularly difficult session. I did it anyway and tried to focus on my breathing. And I still had another 3k steps to do. Went downstairs to visit my mom and did figure 8's around her living/dining room. Got both yoga and 10k steps in. And it actually seemed to help my headache.
Molly and I have been teased by slight sore throats. But the last few nights we have sucked on zinc lozengers. They are little miracles. It is shocking to me how great they are at preventing illness. I would normally be down with a severe cold by now and being miserable at work or stuck in bed. But not this time! I feel just fine as I continue to take care of myself. It's more important to me than ever before, that I stay healthy. I have not taken any medication since October 15th and I am hoping to keep it that way as long as possible. I am happy to have options but I really prefer to take a holistic route.
Now I know how important it is for me to read labels. But for some reason certain items keep slipping into the cracks. I decided I would include fermented products daily into my diet. Today I was thoroughly enjoying a pink lady Kombucha. 1/2 way through the bottle I turned it to the ingredients list as I was smacking my lips in delight. Sure enough made with black and green tea and evaporated cane sugar. Well no wonder it was so tasty. Oh well...I just keep doing my best. Both caffeine and sugar on my no no list. But wisdom in all things...right? I stopped and will save the rest for tomorrow. And probably wont by it again. so sad.4 -
@lenka1 I got my planner in the mail yesterday. The same one as yours. It is exquisite! Thanks for sharing yours. I am loving flipping through the gorgeous pictures.2

Things that suck:
- I'm back at the studio today and I'm not prepared and I hate that.
- My blood pressure isn't going down.
- My annoying coworker is being useless and annoying.
Things that don't suck:
- the sun's out
- I finally was able to make an appointment with my therapist
- I cleaned for like 10 hours on Sunday. No joke. You could eat off of my ceiling fans.
- Second number in my weight was back to a 3 today. Barely. But it's back.
- As I was typing this my boss walked in and said I'm getting a dollar an hour raise starting this week. And I'm sure my face was so ungrateful. I am grateful. But the list of things that suck I think are coming across in my attitude today.
Part of my background on my work computer...

@NuggetBrain wooo whoo.... nice loss. how are you doing? what are you working on?
@Mrsbell8well I didn't have any. I went to the exercise room and read some of my book. and you are right about the labels. for a snack I thought, mmmm smoked salmon sounds good. I read the label and they put sugar in it. omg. are you kidding smoked fish does not need sugar. I am going to get Jim a smoke for his birthday. then we can have smoked meats the way we want them.
@DananaNanas hey girl. your good list way out numbers your bad list. and a dollar raise? what a great way to start the new year. and the sun is out. mmmmmm you are a lucky girl for sure.3 -
Lets talk about slips or falling off the wagon:
First off, slipping is natural, normal and usual. Slips are nothing more that old habits that haven't been broken yet. Remember that slipping is not the end of your dreams for a healthy lifestyle. Slips are nothing more that an opportunity to learn about the cues that lead to the slip and to understand the negative or self defeating thoughts we have after a slip.
Falling off the wagon is a normal part of making a lifestyle change. Everyone who sets out to lose weight and be more active will slip. It truly is to be expected. If you have not already had some slips, you will almost certainly have them in the future. Slips are inevitable. I really hope that this does not sound discouraging. Slips do not hurt your progress. What hurts your progress is the way you react to the slip.
Slips are nothing more than learned habits. So they are very difficult to avoid. When you slip, you have several options for getting back on track and starting to again move toward your goals.
1. Talk back to the negative committee that meets in your head. Replace it with positive thoughts instead. Negative thoughts after a slip can be your worst enemy. they can lead to you feeling discouraged, guilty, and angry. So talk back to those negative thoughts with positive ones. For instance, "I am not a failure because I slipped. I am human with habits. I will get back on track right now."
2. Ask yourself what happened and write it down. What happened immediately before, during and after. What were the triggers. Look closely at the situation. Was it a special occasion? Did you overeat because you were lonely, bored, or depressed? Did you eat or drink because of social pressure? Now right down your triggers. Now what will you do instead? Make an emergency escape plan. place this plan where you can read it daily at a minimum. it will help you break those old habits.
3. Regain control as soon as you can. Make your next meal a healthy one. Get back on the schedule with your activity plan right away. There will not be that much damage if you do this.
4. If your still having a hard time, talk to someone supportive. Come here and talk to us. Trust me we all know exactly what you are going thru. Talk it thru do NOT eat it thru.
5. Focus on all the positive changes you made, and realize that you can get back on track. The same person who blew it today is the same person who was successful during many previous weeks. Slips do not reveal the real you, (hopeless, lacking willpower); they are simply a behavior that can be changed.
Slips are normal and to be expected. Almost everyone who is on the way to losing weight and being more active has slips. But a slip does not need to lead to giving up completely. Slips are useful learning experiences. No one time of overeating or not being active, no matter how extreme, will ruin everything. You will not gain more than a few pounds of weight even after the biggest eating binge imaginable—unless you stay off track and keep overeating time and time again. The slip is not the problem. The problem occurs only if you do not get back on your feet again and keep going toward your goals.
Remember, you are making life-long changes. Slips are just part of the process. Keep at it and someday, maybe soon, those old habits will be gone and will be replaced with health new habits.

TOM still here, and today I am depressed, dull and really bored. No morivation or desire to move unless it's to cause self injury or harm myself in some form. Keep eating chocolate for no reason...Gotta pull myself together, if I stop now, I still have 548 calories for some kind of dinner without going over my limit. 😫7
