Daily check in for: Thursday
Logged: Yes and under
Water: 80 oz (at least)
Exercise & Steps: Horrible...PT(did strength shoulder and upper back) and 4,738 steps
I am not surprised with the weight. I have been doing ok but not really kicking butt. I am actually proud that I am hanging in there with my stress (not sure what word to use) with the trip to move my Mom and the new job after I come back. Usually it would be an excuse to treat myself to junk because "I deserve it" . I think that is actually what started my weight gain in the spring last year. That is when all the *kitten* hit the fan and we had to move out of her house, put the house up for sale, found out on of my brothers was not on the same page as the rest of us etc. This is a big step, I need to stay focused and on track and prove to myself I can get through this.
The day got away from me yesterday. I had PT, then went to thrift shops to get some outfits for my new job. I haven't tried any of the on but I was told I have a week to bring them back. I had a doctors appointment after that and then had my daughter, son in law and their puppy over for dinner. They didn't leave until after 9 (which I loved) but I was so tired. I couldn't even get myself to get my steps to 5K. Back at it today. Only thing I have is to visit my Mother in law. Tonight is bunco. I am going to bring something healthy with me and maybe go a little later so I am not tempted to snack. Big snow storm (or rain or "wintery mix") heading towards Philly and probably many of you! I am all set and have a plan. Hope everyone has a great Friday!
To the cooks..who cook meat...something upsetting happened with my chicken legs last night. The boneless breasts (thank god I threw in at the last minute) were delicious but the legs I couldn't serve. If you have a strong stomach and can tell me if I did something wrong, message me. It almost sent me over to the vegetarian side...
I am so behind....I need to get on at night too ...
@cyndiesstuff great article! Thank you! Glad you are telling Ed to shut up and ended up having a great day and yummy dinner. I am going to work for a company who is a client for insurance companies. I will go to medical facilities and do chart checks. I already have a bad attitude because I am not a paperwork person, I like patient care and moving around. I took the job because I can have the summer off. I need to figure out what I really want to do now that the kids are grown. Maybe even get my license in NJ and get a part time job down there...ugh
@ljdanny nice loss
@hope002 absolutely share the downs too. Don’t worry, one meal won’t be too much damage. Just get back on track. Loved your exercise the other day. I would think hula hoop would be a full body workout!
@shirin_k nice loss! I am so bad with measurements. I would like to take monthly and compare
@nstephenson01 awesome loss! You are doing a great job and it is paying off.
@danananana. I think it was more for beginners. He made all the points you mentioned. I just can’t get past not having my coffee with creamer in the morning lol! I am going to try to do a modified version, I need to eat dinner earlier and then stop eating for the day. My daughters’ schedules make that difficult but the nighttime eating has to stop.
@bbcbw nice loss!
@lenka1 thank you for always being so supportive!
@ihp2015 your brain must be fried! Lol! Hang in there!
@cafelelia My PT keeps warning me that we are going to slowly build up the intensity. I guess you are at that point now! Happy 1 year anniversary! That is quite an accomplishment! I sent you a friend request.
@czvanut thanks for posting the article. I am sharing with my daughter too. The wine tasting may not be as bad as you think. You usually only taste. If you everyone wants to have a glass after maybe say I am going to start with a water. Maybe by the time you are finished the water they will be ready to move on. If they pressure you about the wine just say you plan to but are thirsty now. As far as the annoying guy, maybe don’t say you are dieting. Just say you aren’t hungry or you can’t eat a lot of cheese and you will spare him the details. And maybe don’t sit near him? I am a pushover so I am sure you will get better advice from others lol! It is very important to plan too. Have a plan and if you know where you are going, call and ask what you can expect. Most people who work at those places are super friendly.
@mrsbell8well Feels good getting all that cleaning done doesn’t it? Are you doing the zones? I want to read that before spring cleaning time. How long do those salad in a jar last? Is it something you make the night before or can you make it earlier in the week?
@eyesopennow I could definitely use that phrase. However it would be to my brother Ed who is getting to be a little much to handle with all stuff going on with my mom. 😉 Nice loss! Going in the right direction!
@twyla77 I am glad you enjoyed the spa. I think sometimes you need to kick back and have fun and that was the perfect time to do it. Your company was rewarding you for working so hard so I am happy it was a good time with your coworkers. Very impressive you got to the gym while you were there too!
@lennoncpa Hope all is well. I love seeing all the workouts you do coming across my newsfeed!
@danananas. Don’t fret, maintaining is not bad. Better than gaining. Don’t worry about the number on the scale!

So you can type *kitten* but *kitten* gets changed to kitten? (this time it turned it to kitten but not in my post...) . I don't know why I am so captivated by this. Lol!5

Ignore my earlier post. I couldn't delete the post about the kitten or change it. When my post first went out it wasn't corrected but they did catch it eventually. So my post doesn't make sense and for some reason my edit wasn't saving.

Need some help from y'all... Tomorrow the hubs and I are going out with friends. Doing a wine tasting during the day, then meeting up with other friends for the evening.
I'll be pressured to drink a lot even after the wine, and one guy in the group is going to relentlessly tease me about dieting. I'm trying so hard to break that barrier into the 150s.
What can I say to keep him off my back? What can I say to myself to keep my will power going? What do y'all do or say in social situations?
I don't know if it helps, but first enjoy yourself, 2nd when I went to a brewery once I had a sip and gave the rest to my husband. Can you discreetly pour some of your wine into his glass? Just do your best and above all have fun!!1 -

It’s so impressive to see how much weight many of you have lost. I was 5’6” all my life. Now I’m 5’4”. It’s interesting to me to see others goal weight and to see others close to my same journey. My normal category weight is 142. I have small bones so I’m thinking I could go down between 132-135? It was interesting to see everyone on their journey.
I’ve never been one to lose weight quickly. Now to see myself dropping 2 pounds a week is mind boggling. It is fun. I have found my groove. I too feel like I’m more lenient after weigh in. But I remind myself that I’m not at maintenance yet. I’m still watching my hunger levels and making sure I have plenty of fruits and vegetables.
I’m putting my “raw” diet off for now. Instead I add more raw foods. Leftovers may go on a bed of raw spinach sprinkled with red cabbage and mixed bell peppers.
I’m also looking again at balancing my macros. I made a lovely peanut quinoa cabbage salad. It had fat from peanuts, protein from quinoa and edamame and carbs from carrots and cabbages. Yummy and so balanced.
I'm 5'4" and I started out around 165 lbs or so, sitting at 149 now. I was down to 137 a couple of years ago and I was pretty happy there. My main goal right now is just to get back in my size 8 jeansI think our journey weight wise is the same but we're on completely different eating plans. My body does well with low carb otherwise I just crave and crave sugar all the time. I honestly think it has to do with my genetics, type O+ blood and english heritage so I must have some sort of paleo blood in me (hehe) It's so interesting how all of us are all different! And that's how it should be - we need to do what is right for us not someone else!!

@sleepymom5 - what was wrong with your chicken thighs? Did they taste too "chickeny" The one thing I've found with chicken is you need to buy good quality chicken and it tastes so much better. I buy the fresh packs of organic chicken from Costco or Bell and Evans from the grocery store when it's on sale. Yes, it's more expensive, but it doesn't taste like an animal2

Ok, so being sick and on antibiotics did help my weight loss this week. Kind of a miserable way to do it but good to make some progress. Looking forward to a full recovery so I can catch up on my tidying project.3 -
Good morning all!
Yesterday was a great day - my shoulder survived yoga and continuing to heal (yay!!), got in my steps, water and had great food yesterday. I had my most favorite dinner in the world: chicken breast sauteed with Lemongrass Basil Curry sauce over riced cauliflower/broccoli/carrots. Yum yum yum!!
This weekend I'm planning to make some more low carb tortillas for next weeks lunches and maybe cut up all my veggies to make it easier to pack enough food.
In regards to this weeks challenge, I have always wondered about IF but I get too hungry. Who is successfully doing it? What am I doing wrong? Once 7:30 am hits I'm starving for breakfast!
Have a great Friday everyone!!4 -
Daily check in for: Thursday
Logged: Yes, and under but too much sodium
Water: lost track but it was a lot
Exercise & Steps: Bowflex intervals; 7,454 steps
Spent most of the day cleaning house so got in more steps than I expected. Tried a new recipe that was a bit unusual for me and I was pleasantly surprised how tasty it was so thought I would share.
https://www.cookinglight.com/recipes/crispy-cauliflower-with-chili-tahini-sauce-and-farro-pilaf
Weight was actually down a wee bit this morning so feeling excited that yesterday's weigh in wasn't an anomaly. Whoo hoo riding this momentum wave for however long it lasts LOL.
Today is my husband's birthday. He requested steak for dinner tonight and wants to go out for sushi tomorrow. Thankfully the big snow storm predicted for us either fizzled out or bypassed us so my plan is to get some extra exercise over the next couple days to compensate for the next two big dinners. I'm also going to increase the amount of fruit and veggies.
TOM is approaching next week so I'm looking forward to reading the article you shared @czvanut. I don't have any words of wisdom. I'm terrible at staying on track in social situations. But living life is the point I guess in this journey. Whatever happens just shake it off and get back on track.
Happy Friday everyone!!5 -
week 3 check in
Friday
ID: pacsnc6
PW: 166.4
CW: 166.8
steps 36,107 - not as much as I'd hoped for but then didn't wear the watch for 100% either!
only a small gain this week - I'm good with that!4 -
Water aerobics twice this week was good. We had different leaders (the regulars had to cut back their hours for different reasons) so the exercises were a little different. Feels good to change things up. The pool will be closed Monday again - I'll have to do something else.
I am still working on the second puzzle since Christmas ( both 1,000 pieces and really hard pictures to put together)
I am also doing cross stitching at night mostly - the first one - about 5 x 7 flowers - is a little more than half done. It adds a lot more to calories burned than I thought it would.5 -
@carlsoda another nice day! I am the same with the IF, the morning is what would get me. I will message you about the chicken. I think you may have hit the nail on the head though
@hope002 Don’t let that derail you. A gain can be from a number of things. Read the article cyndie posted. Just stay on track!
@cafelelia Fab loss! Hope you continue to feel better.
@nstephenson01. Love how you have balance. Enjoy the celebratory dinners! Thanks for sharing the recipe too. That looks yummy!
@pacsnc6. You’re right that is not bad at all! Sounds like you are doing great so keep doing what you are doing!

I haven’t wAtched that intermittent fasting video yet! But I def want to and will - prob tonight in bed.
I have been doing it since November and it really works for me. I do 17/7 most days.
Eat from 12pm til 7pm and it works great. I work out on empty stomach most days and feel more motivated and push myself when I don’t have food in me.
But it def doesn’t work for everyone. Idk about weight loss wise but with IF my cravings are gone. And I almost never feel truly hungry. I eat 2 times a day most days - simply bc I should eat and fuel myself but I physically am rarely hungry anymore. I love intermittent fasting!3 -
@sleepymom5 your doing just fine. sometimes you just cant get in the steps. that's ok. We have all used food as a crutch many times. it is how we got where were at today. but look how well your doing. you learning new ways to handle stress. good job. you just keep working at it.
@hope002 that's just a small gain. don't let it bring you down. shake it off and move on. you got this.
@Cafelelia yes! that is a nice loss. good job.
@carlsoda yeah! you can do yoga again. I am so happy your healing. and your dinner sounds so yummy. mmmmmm
@nstephenson01 nope yesterday was not a fluke. you did it girl. the scale went down.
@pacsnc6 very small gain. no problem. you got this. I love water aerobics. I just can't find the time. you are doing awesome. keep that up!!

@nstephen01 thanks for posting that recipe. Cauliflower is my favorite recipe and farro one of my favorite grains. I can’t wait to try it. I have all the ingredients.1

@carlsoda great job! I’m excited to get to where you are. Thanks for all your support. Hmmmm I’m looking forward to size 8.
@sleepymom5 those salads last 5 days. Yes make it early in the week.
I haven’t done zones. I’ve been thinking of you as I clean each room. I remember when u did this. I will start the zones in February when everything is done. Fyi...for other team members...I follow “fly lady zones”. You can google her system.1
