Well good morning everyone. I can't believe it is January. Time sure does fly by. My name is Cyndie and I am one of the Team captains along with @sleepymom5. @Mrsbell8well and @ihp2015 are our team motivators. I have been with this group since September 2017. I started my weight loss journey January of 2017 when I had reached my highest weight of 196 pounds. I am only 5 foot tall so that was a lot of mass to stack on this short little frame. Currently, I weigh 153.5 pounds and need to loose about 15 more pounds. So with the help and support of my Teammates and friends here I have lost a total of 45 pounds. I use the simple calories in/calories out method (ci/co). I have towards the last couple of months payed a little closer attention to my macros only because my blood sugar is still borderline diabetic. My main form of exercise is walking and yoga. I have some sort of chronic pain condition. None of the experts can seem to agree on what it is so I just call it chronic pain. I have been ill since 2011 and they (the supposed experts who can't even agree on what it is) don't believe that my pain will go away.
My fiance proposed to me at last christmas and i said yes. We will be getting married in the late spring next year. I have 2 adult children. I live in Michigan. My oldest is a mentally handicapped 33 year old man who lives on his own but is still very dependent on me to live his life. My youngest is a 28 year old man who lives in Florida. I have two grandchildren, one is 12 and one is 4. I live in michigan and work full time as an office manager of a finance company. My parents are both 86 and my mother has been extremely sick the last year. So i spend lots of time with doctors visits, hospitals and physical therapy. Besides getting to know one another, the reason i tell you all of this is because i want you to see first thing that life happens and i have been losing weight anyway. It is all a choice. If you want it bad enough you will do what it takes to make it happen in spite of your hectic chaotic life.
I am an open book. I come here and tell the good, the bad, and the ugly. It is the way this works.
So now on to Team business:
I ask that you please check in daily or more if you please. But minimally daily. Many of us here check in with the following format.
Check in for: Thursday
Logged food: yes, on track
Water: 64 oz
Steps or exercise: 10000 and 30 minutes of yoga
You can check in daily however you want really, just as long as your check in. So if you go to Decembers's Thread (this link will take you there https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10709635/team-weight-no-more-december-2018-team-chat#latest) you can read thru some of the posts. You will kinda see how we do it. But again, do it how you want just check in.
So come on in and introduce yourselves. Tell us a little about yourselves and what your goals are. Lets get healthy together, "One day at a Time" Oh yea, and feel free to visit last months thread and read thru it if you'd like, it will give you a little feel of who we are. And please star this in your favorites so it is easy to get too.
Now, our this is how to weigh in on your selected weigh in day:
User ID: Cyndiesstuff
Week Number: Week 1
Previous weight: 153.5
Current weight: 153.5
Steps: 72000
Now you will see we have included steps for the week. If you don't track you don't have to, It is not a requirement. But if you do track, give us your weekly total (for the previous 7 days before your weigh in) and we will include it on our spreadsheet.5 -
Please welcome our new teammates
@czvanut
@cafelella
come in and introduce yourselves. what are your goals. how are your going to get there. ask questions. add us as friends. we can do this. 2019 will be our year.5 -
Daily check in for: Saturday
Logged: No
Water: Not enough
Exercise & Steps: 6813 steps
Yesterday, I did the laundry and we took down all the christmas decorations and put the house back together. Then spent the rest of the afternoon binge watching making of a murderer. Today i am going to grocery shop and ease into my new diet plan. also have to go to mom and dad's and do moms medicine. Almost the new year. Wow, time flies.4 -
This is the first challenge of January. @Mrsbell8well says, I am sure I am not the only one thinking about 2019. What does your New Year look like? Where will you be and what will you be doing? How will you do it?
In 1 year from now you will be getting ready for 2020. What number will you see on the scale? What health changes will you have manifested? Do you see yourself involved with any fitness routines or fitness goals that are fun and exciting?
What have you accomplished in 2018 that you are proud of? Talk about some of your successes and failures.
Reflection is so very important in your progress. So spend some time and really think about it.

Happy almost January! I'm new to the team and want to introduce myself.
I'm Casey. I'm 42, a teacher, wife, and mother to two boys. Our oldest is 17, is graduating in June and leaving for basic training for Army National Guard on June 24. Just typing that makes me tear up. I'm proud of him but I hate how fast our time with him is slipping by.
Our second boy is 11 and is our athlete. He has played baseball, football, and soccer. Right now he's gearing up for spring travel soccer and also wants to start football workouts for the 7th grade season. He's also in band - I can't keep up with his energy.
My hubs and I are coming up on our 20th anniversary in May. This summer, we plan to go to Montana to visit state parks - hiking, maybe a trail ride if I can get him on a horse, and I'm learning / practicing astrophotography so I can capture "big sky country."
I joined MFP way back in 2012. I have tried strict diets, I've played with macros, I've tried Keto, and different workout plans. Every time I have a little success, then stall, then get discouraged. Or, I'll be doing great and get sick or injured. Right now, I'm about 40 lbs heavier than when I got married. I started running again last summer and got a severe case of tendinitis. Even now just doing housework aggravates it, but I'm trying to get out and walk a couple times a week.
My goal right now is to lose 20 lbs. It may sound selfish, but I want to look good in pictures again and not just do head-shots or hide behind people. I want to have enough energy to hike all day in Glacier National when we go on our 20th anniversary trip. Mostly I think about the heart trouble in my family and I know I'm not doing myself any favors by carrying extra weight like this. I looked at an old goal I had written in 2017, and I'm still the same weight as I was then. By this time next year, I want to be 145 and focusing my goals on things other than my weight.
I am excited about joining this group because I need help recovering from setbacks. Last night, for example, we had family Christmas #3. Dinner and dessert ALONE were over my calorie allowance for the day. Today is recovery day from the overeating.
I'd love suggestions for exercise that won't hurt my foot - so I guess I need to start with low-impact work. I love yoga so that starts up again soon.
Thanks, y'all, for being awesome! Looking forward to 2019!10 -
Hi to all newcomers! My name is Mike, I live in Virginia, USA. I will turn 60 in 2019, a fact that is never far from my thoughts. I struggle with weight and behavioral issues (stress eating) and health issues (diabetes, etc.) but I am determined that I am going to learn to control them all. I may never get back to my target weight, I may never grow hair on my head again, and I may never tell another joke without my families' eyes rolling. But that doesn't mean I a not going to try!
Targets for January: yoga three times a week, 4 pound loss, 10,000 step target met 5 days a week. Also I am targeting a Pittsburgh Steeler Superbowl victory, but that is just not realistic.11 -
@Mrsbell8well comment on something you said in the December thread -- congrats on the Crow Position! It is so hard for me to achieve, I usually get my feet off the ground and keep right on moving forward onto my head! Nice work!5

Check in for yesterday, Saturday, Dec. 29
Logged (yes. It's disgusting)
Water - only 16-20 ounces
exercise - cleaning and cooking (does it count?)
Today's goal: Drink 60 oz water, do some light exercise, eat light.5 -
User ID: CassieGetsFit2013
Week Number: Week 1
Previous weight: 179.4
Current weight: 178.2
7 day step count: 18,663
-1.2lbs
Had a decent loss for the end of 2018! Let's see if I can have another for the first week of January, but then that will be my week 2 weigh in. 🙃11 -
Hi Everyone and welcome to our new team members!
My name is Irene and I live in Denmark (and have since 2012). I'm 41, married to a great Dane and I work as a freelancer (social media management, translations). I'm hoping to find a proper job in 2019, but unfortunately it's not that easy as a foreigner in Denmark (I've been trying since 2012).
I joined the F2F challenge in November 2017 and it's been an amazing journey. I started my current weight loss journey on September 6, 2017 at my all-time high weight of 282.6 lbs. My current weight (after two Christmas dinners) is 212.9 lbs, so that's 70 lbs gone. Most of it with the help of this team. It's amazing how much easier it becomes, when you have like-minded people cheering you on when all goes well, and giving much needed support, when times are tough. Especially when needing to lose a lot of weight, it's not always easy to stay motivated.
For 2019, my plan is as follows:
During the Summer of 2019, I will be going to the US with my parents, siblings and of course my hubby. My parents are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary and have invited us for a vacation in Florida. So, my biggest goal is to have a healthy weight before we travel to the US. This means that my goal is to lose approx. 40 lbs before the 4th of July (which is when we travel to the US). I know this is a lofty goal, but well, I gotta start somewhere.
I also want to get more structure in my day. Working as a freelancer means that I don't always have work to do, and since I'm not a morning person, it's not always easy to get up in the morning. So, starting January 2nd, my plan is to set my alarm every day for 7.30am and be out of bed no later than 8.0am. This should also help with my weight loss, because I can make sure that I eat my meals at the same time each day. Finally, I will be better at exercising. We have a fitness bike and weight lifting machine at home, but this past half year, I haven’t really used it. On the days that I’m at home, I will plan to hit the fitness bike after eating breakfast before getting about my day. I will let you all know, how this is working out!
One year from now, as I’ll be getting ready for 2020, I will be busy maintaining my goal weight. My goal weight is 160 lbs, so in total I will have to lose another 53 lbs. That should definitely be doable in a year, although I know that the closer I get to my goal weight, the harder it will get.
2018 started out ok, but this past half year, I’ve really been struggling both in my personal life and my weight loss. I guess like so many others, I stress eat when things aren’t going great, and I’ve had some tough periods in 2018.
But with all of you Weight No More’s, I will succeed with my goals for 2019, as all of you will, as well.
Let’s do this!

Hi Everyone! My name is Pam. I am one of the captains along with @cyndiesstuff I am from the suburbs of Philadelphia. During the summer I am mostly at the Jersey Shore. I have been married 28 years and have 5 children 27-18. I am a nurse but semi retired, I actually am starting a new job at the end of January. I am not sure how I feel about it because it is a "desk" job and I am used to moving and doing patient care. However, if I want to spend the summers at the shore, this is a perfect option for me. I also have an elderly Mother in Florida that I will be moving into an assisted living sometime in January. My Mother has always been difficult and refused to move by my brothers or me when she was starting to need help. She continues to fight with anyone we try to get in to help her so that makes things harder. I am hoping the assisted living takes a lot of the pressure off of us. Who knows...So January has a lot of challenges for me. New job and Mom...
I will move on with my intro....Funny, I was never overweight, although I always thought I was fat growing up. I gained A TON of weight with my pregnancies and ended up at 221lbs. Unfortunately that ended up being my heaviest even when I wasn't pregnant . At the end June of 2012 I decided I either had to get serious and lose weight or accept that I am obese and live my life. I got a fitbit and joined MFP on July 1, 2018. Since then, I have gained and lost 30 or more pounds a few times. I have never gotten back to that starting weight but have gotten close. Although I haven't been as successful with my weight loss as I would like, I have learned a lot. I eat so much healthier than I used to. I also am in pretty good shape, I love to hike, walk, kayak and bike. Actually anything outdoors I usually enjoy. I do have a home gym in PA which has a bike, treadmill, elliptical, weights and a few other things. I also see a trainer twice a week when I am in PA. I really have no excuse not to exercise. I had been derailed since March but finally got back on track in August. I gained about 15 lbs during that time. That is the same time we were moving my Mom from her house to an assisted living. It was a very stressful time. I am slowly getting the weight off from that gain. I feel like things are going to be different this time. I am really looking at things differently that I knew before but they hadn't really sunk in.
This team really helped get me out of my slump. This is more than just weighing in weekly. The checking in daily really helps keep me focused. I also learn a lot from everyone and also get support when I really need it. I am also lucky to have the support from my daughter who also wants to lose a little weight and eat healthier.
I have a bad head cold which makes it hard to think. Lol! I think that is it as far as introductions.8 -
Hi everyone! My name is Lisa and am new to the team. I am 52 and from Toronto, Canada. My husband and I have been together for 20 years & we have two active boys, ages 13 & 8. My weight gain started in my mid thirties as work, family and life got busier. I have fluctuated since then. I started this challenge last January and had great momentum, but dropped out in September due to a running injury (sciatica). I gained back some of what I lost unfortunately. My ultimate weight loss goal is to lose about 30 lbs. I am petite (5’3”) and over fifty, so it can be challenging! My 2019 goal is to recover fully from my injury, get back to running and yoga, and ultimately stop the weight fluctuating. Am looking forward to being on this journey with all of you!6

@cyndiesstuff @sleepymom5: if we're doing the step challenge again for January, COUNT ME IN!!!2
-
I am really out of it Lol!...Ok...
Daily checkin for Saturday
Logged food Yes and under
Water-A TON of water and herbal tea
Exercise and steps-no exercise and very low steps..not even worth looking back to find out.
I didn't do anything yesterday and today doesn't look much better. We could have left for the shore yesterday but I just do not have it in me. I also don't want to lay around there sick. That's my fun house if that makes sense. Depending on how I feel,we may go down later today but the way I feel now, I don't see that happening. It is just a head cold, I don't know why I feel so bad. I also don't know why I was up even more on the scale this am. Ugh! I am going to stop typing now because I am so cranky... Maybe tomorrow I will check in happy at the shore...hopefully....
@cyndiesstuff I usually hate taking down the decorations but for some reason this year I want to. Idk if it is symbolic that the holidays are behind me and time to get back into a normal routine? I binge watched making of a murderer the first season. It is good.
@cvzanut Welcome! I think you are going to be a good fit in this group. We are pretty active so you can come for support, to complain, for accountability...I am a lot like you as I have tried so many different diet plans, lost and then gained it all back plus some. Let's have a good 2019 and hit our goals this year! Nice first check in and good plan for the day.
@Cafelelia Welcome! I think you will be a good fit here too! You have some good, obtainable goals to work towards. Let's have a great 2019! Glad you are part of our team.
@ihp2015 I am sure you will reach your goals in 2019! Maybe we can hit "onderland" together. We aren't too far apart in weight. I am embarrassed to say, I am not sure about the step challenge in January. You will have a spot if it continues. I will keep you posted.
@eyesopennow What?! Your family rolls their eyes at your jokes? You are so funny! You have a fan over here on MFP. I love your January goals, I may steal some. I also didn't know that you were a Steeler's fan. My brother is a big fan, he's been cranky lately, I know they have to win and some team they aren't playing has to lose today...
@CassieGetsFit2013 You are doing great! You are down 8.2lbs from your starting weight in Dec! You should be super proud of yourself!!5 -
I don't know why I can't get my thoughts together for my 2019 goals. Or think about what I accomplished in 2018. I am not going to lie, I am a little disgusted with 2018. This could be my cranky cold talking I started out great, got to my daughter's wedding in March doing well with eating and exercising but had to go straight to my Mom's in Florida the following week and everything just went downhill for months. I spent over a month in Florida between March and May( I actually am a little nervous about this move in January, I am already having nightmares about it) However, from September on in 2018, I have done a lot better and actually feel mentally different about weight loss. I really don't know how to describe it. I know I lose so slowly but I feel like I am really am starting to understand how this all works for me at least. I don't feel like I am on a "diet", I always said it is a lifestyle change but I don't really think I understood what that meant. I also now have gotten in the habit of planning, especially when something comes up that I may struggle with. I have gotten into a lot of good habits and for that I am thankful for.
So in a nutshell, 2018 for weight loss wasn't the greatest and I am up from the beginning of the year but maybe I needed to go through that to learn what I know now?
2019 goals-To continue what I have been doing the last few months. Hopefully learn even more. I need to learn how to get through these stressful times without being derailed AND I also have to make a plan for the summer. I spend the summer at the shore, and have a big problem with visitors. I love having visitors but I can not afford to be on "vacation" all summer. Everyone wants to eat out, eat junk and drink. I can't do that. I also want to kick my exercise up a bit but I am happy that I kept it up through the Holidays. I would rather have an easy workout that can fit into my day then none at all, and the days I have time, I need to challenge myself more.
This time next year...I am not going to set a weight goal for 2019 but would like to be in a normal weight range or close to it. I hope I had a plan and stuck with it for the summer and I also hope I did well through the Holidays again. I also hope anytime I got off track, I got right back on.
My thinking and writing are a little discombobulated but my head is just so foggy with this cold. I think you all get the idea of what I am trying to say...

Note-it is too late to edit my above post. We moved my mother into an independent care facility this past spring, she declined quickly and we had to get a care giver. Now we are moving her into an assisted living. It is in the same facility as will be her next move to skilled care when she needs it. I put above we put her in assisted living in the spring, so it didn't make sense. Lol!

@sleepymom5 I totally understand being disgusted with 2018. I felt like I had so many good goals for myself and ended up spinning my wheels.
I agree with what you said about the social aspect. It's so hard to be around friends and not overeat or overdrink. I'm right there with you needing to get some control over that.2 -
THE STEP PAGE IS NOW UP AND RUNNING HERE'S THE LINK YOU CAN SHARE WITH YOUR TEAM

Hi my name is Patsy and this is my second month in this group. I was up and down about two pounds in December and ended pretty much where I started.
I plan to drink more water - again I start working on this and then slack off as I don't even like water - and to walk more each week. We have had LOTS of rain in NC this year with two hurricanes and just rainy weather for days at a time that keep me indoors. I know I should go for a walk anyway - water is good for us.
I would like to lose about 25 pounds and I know it will take time. I joined MFP in 2011 at 173 pounds mostly to track my food and see what I was eating that put that 30 pounds on me. It was probably the soda and nuts that I gorged on daily. I got up to 179 and stayed there for a year then decided to try the zero calorie soda and lost 15 pounds! I also cut back on the nuts. I don't eat really big meals and I don't snack a lot so finding the "magic bullet" has been really hard.
Moving more and drinking more water is my goal right now. I have been getting 4,000 to 7,000 steps daily and drinking 8 - 16 ounces of water a day along with 12 - 24 ounces of zero calorie soda and 16 - 28 ounces of milk. I don't drink coffee or tea and no alcohol.5 -

Greg aka @Navydaddjtc here one of your team Captains and moderators along with Becky aka @Beka3695. This year 2018.... as it comes to an end has stunk for me personally. My younger brother died in October and mom and my older brother are not doing so good either. So 2019 is not starting off that good.
I am a retired/disabled Navy spec ops vet handling War dogs in Vietnam. I worked as an Executive Chef at sea on board ocean gong tug boats for 13 years I was medically retired from there after a tug boat/ barge accident. Here’s my 2018/2019 reposted
What have you accomplished in 2018 that you are proud of?
For me I have done a great job with my yoga plan. I am on day 57 of consecutive yoga days.
This year I have lost 37 pounds.
I have completely overhauled my "diet". I have survived two major cleanses including giving up caffeine, sugar, gluten, dairy, animal products and alcohol.
My "GERD" symptoms have vanished.
I went from "obese" to "overweight"
2019:
January I will hit the 40 pounds lost marker with 20 left to go. It's a stretch but I expect to see 159.8 by January 31st.
I will hit my goal of weighing 142 and be in the "normal" range by June 1st.
I will successfully begin and complete the C25K 8 week training program.
By my birthday October 7th I expect to be down to a manageable maintenance weight. 135 ish?
By This time next year I will be a slender, toned, strong, radiantly healthy woman.
My workout routine will include yoga, running, walking, hiking, and strength training.
I will wear cute little clothes...size 10? 8? 6?...no idea.
I will have some pretty cute new sexy bikinis to wear pool side!
Ready to say bye bye to 2018 and THANK YOU! Thank you to this team and all the continued love and support.
Come on 2019...I am ready!!!! Are you????

Today successfully completes day 30 December yoga challenge. For me that is 60 days in a row! I am planning to do the same Adrienne you tube yoga challenge for January. Any other yoga fans want to join me? It’s amazing the results. Carpal tunnel gone. Strong muscles-yes. Flexibility and balance...yes yes! This month my goal was the crow pose and I did it! Also did great at side planks and first time in my life I’ve ever done “real” pushups.4

Intro- I’m Angelina and it is true I eat well!!!
I have been married to my wife for 2 years. The OF (old folks) moved in with us in February due to emergency medical intervention for mom. Took her from CA hospital bed to our home in Virginia. Robin my daughter is a nurse. She works at the hospital walking distance to us. Skylynn is my precious 9 year old granddaughter that lives with us 1/2 the time when her mom works. My weight loss journey has taken many dramatic turns since I began in July 11th 2018. I have lost 37 pounds total and have only had 1 weigh in with a gain. I started at 202.8 size 3x. Currently 165.8 size 12. October 15th I gave up almost everything in an effort to improve my health. I am “beegan” with an interest in adaptogens, and raw foods. I post lots of food pics to show how gorgeous nutritious food can be.
Welcome back everyone and let 2019 be our true journey into radiant health!7 -
So I just had a look at the spreadsheet from last year January, and I apparently lost 34 lbs in 2018. That's less than 1 lbs per week!!
Not too great, and I know I shouldn't complain, but I hope 2019 goes better than 2018!
