@cyndiesstuff Put me down as a stepper. And yes the yoga challenge begins January 1st!2

Happy last day of 2018! I have been formulating plans for 2019 and I will try to get them into words:
- Steps, steps and more steps daily
- Try to do yoga daily
- Continue not eating dairy
- Next 100 days I am going to focus on eating low carb/whole 30.
I really love the way my diet has evolved - it’s so healthy and want to just continue eating this way. Today I am going to work on a couple of recipes so I can start tomorrow fresh!
And...welcome to all the newbies, this is my 2nd month here so I still feel like a newbie!3 -
Heading to a yoga class this morning. First ever. Nervous. But you all inspire me to push my comfort levels toward healthier choices. Wish me luck!7

@carlsoda and @cyndiesstuff: I know I should be happy with my weight loss for 2018 and I really am happy. Like Carlsoda said, what if I hadn't lost anything in 2018! And yes, I've had a lot going on since June!
I guess it's just that I lost everything in the first 6 months of 2018 and from June, I lost and gained the same 5 lbs!
Anyway, 7,5 hrs until New Year here in Denmark, so Happy 2019 to everyone!

@czvanut-let’s make 2019 our year! As far as your question, I think it is ok if it isn’t every day. Maybe you can add in a healthy snack if you are under a lot. I hate to say to eat if your satisfied but under 1000 is low.
@pacsnc6-I think a maintain through the holiday season is great! I like your goals! You got this! Let’s kick some butt in 2019!
@twyla77 That’s really not bad at all for the Holidays. You can do this!
@navydaddjtc-keeping you in my prayers. You have had a rough end to 2018. I know you will crush all your 2019 goals!
@mrsbell8well. Awesome progress in 2018 and awesome 2019 goals! I know you will accomplish them. I wish I could do yoga. I am thinking of finding poses I can do...
@cassiegetsfit2013 we love you too! You are doing great! What an awesome end to 2018 for you! I hope you see how far you have come!
@ihp2015. I think that is great progress! Slow and steady!
@shirin_k you have been doing great! Congrats hitting your end of year weight. It’s easy as a young mom to put yourself on the back burner. Your health is so important so I am glad that you are fitting it in to your busy life!
@nstephenson01 Love your goals! One of these days you need to posts some pics of your dogs!
@ljdanny I like the idea of one month at a time. I also like your goals. My day would go so much easier if I exercised earlier. I may try to do that in January
@phoebe112476 That soup looks delicious. Just what I need with this cold. I have to look into emeals. We are always looking for meal ideas. Hope you enjoyed your Yoga class.
@lenka1 I am with you. I am so ready to get into my normal routine! Awesome 2019 goals!
@amsandos-not bad at all! Maintaining is good!
@cyndiesstuff-sounds like you are ready to start off 2019 on the right foot with your eating plan! You are going to have a great 2019!
@carlssoda awesome loss! AND especially during the holidays!! Love your goals for 2019!
@bmaison2014 great job losing during the holidays!

Daily check in for: Sunday
Logged: No
Water: a ton-lost count
Exercise & Steps: None and a little over 2K
Finally feeling a little better! I still have cold symptoms but have a little more energy. Not sure what my plan is for today. I want to clean and air out my room and where I have been hanging out. I am not sure if we are going to head to the shore or not. Hoping tomorrow I will be back to normal.2 -
@ihp2015 when you said you were married to a Great Dane I was picturing the dog thinking you were single but making a joke... I got it now Apparently I don't read the intros very well because you've been in this group longer than I have and probably have similar intros every month... Have you been to Florida before? What city are you going to be in?
@czvanut welcome!!! your upcoming trip sounds so awesome! My husband is also afraid of horses for some reason.... maybe it's a man thing? I don't think your motivation is selfish... I think our friends, family, coworkers, etc. see us the way we "really look" and for who we "really are" but as individuals we only get to see ourselves mainly in pictures (and mirrors obvi... but most people don't spend a bulk of their day in front of a mirror) so of course we want to look a certain way in pictures. As far as low impact exercise goes.... have you ever tried Pilates? It's like yoga in that it's done mainly on a mat but I find it to be much more effective in working the core. I always wake up sore the next day thinking "what have I done?!?!"
@eyesopennow sorry my Browns destroyed your Steelers' super bowl dreams. I have to say I'm so happy with our unbelievably average record this year lol but last night's game was GOD AWFUL!!
@lenka1 I'm ready for the holidays to be over too, I'm such a party pooper lol How did you end up in PA? We're kind of neighbors.. I live in Ohio Congrats on the weight loss! That's impressive this time of year!!
@amsandos what is the new program you're trying? I want to restart strong curves when I inevitably get back to the gym... I have a hard time committing to programs for some reason.
@cyndiesstuff have a good day at work! I'm stuck at work too. We have tomorrow off but I have to work Wednesday >_< I'm just happy I don't have to teach at all this week except for my private lesson students on Friday. p.s. Are you getting married late spring 2019 or 2020?? You said "next year" but at this point that could mean either lol
@mrsbell8well yes!!! congrats on crow!!! I love crow but it is so challenging!!! also you are so inspiring You had a great 2018 and I'm sure 2019 will be just as successful!
@cassiegetsfit2013 so glad to see some positivity and light coming from you lately glad things are looking up
@sleepymom5 feel better soon! I know it's so hard to think clearly with a head cold so your multiple posts made me chuckle.
@cafelelia welcome! You're going to love this group
@pacsnc6 glad to see you're back for another month! GIRL YOU NEED TO DRINK MORE WATER! That's not enough for an adult Have you tried any mobile apps other than MFP to encourage you to drink more water? I use Plant Nanny and it makes it fun. You track your water and as you do it you grow little cartoon plants to move into a garden. It's dumb but it's cute lol
@shirin_k congrats on getting to your end-of-year goal weight! That's something not a lot of us can say (including myself.... for the past decade or so >_<)
@nstephenson01 personal question... did you ever want kids? I turned 30 last year and I LOVE kids but I still don't really want any of my own.... My husband and I have one dog so far, and I don't really feel like I'm missing out at this point. It's mainly the guilt of not giving my parents a grandchild that gets to me but that would be a terrible reason to have a child, right?
@ljdanny it's been a rough year... I hope 2019 is better for you and your family! Also can I rejoin the step challenge?? I kinda failed as your replacement but I'd like to try again!
@phoebe112476 that soup looks amazing! and good luck at yoga!! Let us know how you liked it!
@carlsoda congrats on the Christmas Loss!!
Whew! as of this morning I'm caught up on EVERYONE'S posts in this thread (work is super dead this morning...) Usually I'm bad at replies but know that I'm reading I'll post my stuff later if we're dead the rest of the day or tomorrow!5 -
How is everyone celebrating New Year's?
Our evening starts with the Queen's speech at 6 pm and then eat dinner afterwards.
We're having a meat fondue with chicken and turkey and baked potatoes. It's just me and my hubby and that's exactly how we like to bring in the new year. Just the two of us!
After dinner we'll watch some movies.
We'll probably go outside just after midnight to see the fireworks and say happy new year to our neighbors.6 -

According to webmd:
When it comes to healthy stress management, what can you do instead of eating? Try these ten healthy ways to manage stress without using food:
1. Spend time in nature. Sun exposure and natural light have been found to increase your mood. Take a break during the day and be sure to step outside or go near a window to get your dose of mood-enhancing light. Pay attention to the colors in nature when you’re outdoors. What sounds do you hear? Looking around your environment with a fresh pair of eyes can be a very relaxing experience.
2. Move your body. The current recommendations for physical activity call for sixty minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise daily. Sound daunting? Make it fun! Go for a walk as a family, turn on the radio and dance, or practice yoga balance poses. Movement activities positively affect health by reducing blood pressure, enhancing mood, and strengthening bones.
3. Laugh. Laughter really is the best medicine. Take a moment to remember a situation that you found humorous. As you vividly recall the details, you’ll probably find that a smile spontaneously develops. Tell jokes, make funny faces or start laughing and see who laughs with you. It can be contagious!
4. Express yourself creatively. Expressive art therapy enables you to share inner thoughts or feelings when they are difficult to articulate verbally. Engaging in art activities such as finger painting, drawing, coloring, etc. may relieve feelings of anxiety.
5. Listen to music. There are many benefits to listening to music, from relaxation to enhancing sleep.
6. Take a warm bath. There are many historical references to the healing properties of water. Ancient spas originated near mineral springs and seas and were used by natural healers to support health. Establishing a bedtime routine that includes a warm bath in a quiet room can help to promote sleep and feelings of calm after a long day. Run a warm bath, light a few candles, and close the door to spend some quality time with you.
7. Aromatherapy. This refers to the use of essential oils to improve health and wellbeing. Oils are delivered to the body through inhalation, or direct application to the skin. Lavender, lemon balm and sandalwood are the two most common oils used to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety. Add a few drops to bath water or on a pillowcase. Rub the oils between the palms of your hands and cup your hands to inhale a few deep breaths of the scent. Use with caution if you have asthma or a skin condition associated with allergies. Consult a physician before use.
8. Gratitude journal. When we’re faced with life’s challenges, we often see only the stressful situation and lose sight of all that we have to be thankful for in our lives. The next time life seems to hand you lemons, try making lemonade by writing down ten things you appreciate in your life. It won’t eliminate the stress but you may find that it helps to improve your mood and shift your perspective, allowing you to see new possibilities to resolve stressful situations.
9. Gentle massage. Human touch is very powerful and can be quite nurturing. Use a lotion or light massage oil to rub the feet and/or hands. There are numerous “points” on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet that may influence various systems within the body. A gentle massage can be both relaxing and stimulating. Use this technique to help quell stress when it appears.
10. Mindful Breathing. The mind has a tendency to wander. Our thoughts pull us into the past, replaying moments that we can’t recover, or push us into the future as we worry about what has yet to come. The body is always in the present moment. Noticing your breathing on purpose without feeling the need to change it brings us back to the present moment. It serves as an anchor. Take a “time-out” to notice your breathing when you feel stressed or worried and pay attention to how your body feels.

LOL, I figured I'd change my intro a little!
Yes, I've been to Florida lots of times. We'll be in Orlando, but we'll start of with two weeks in Palm Desert (just me and my hubby). I don't see my family that often. My parents live in Malta and my brother and sister both live in the Netherlands. It will be great to spend two weeks with everyone in Orlando. My sister has two girls (they'll be 15 and 18 next year) and it'll be the first time they go to Florida (or the US for that matter). Really looking forward to hitting the outlets with them. Hopefully I'll need a whole new wardrobe by then
I see that you live in Ohio? Where in Ohio? I've lived in Dayton, Ohio twice (Centerville to be more precise) in 1986 and 1993-1995 and finished high school there before moving back to the Netherlands again!1 -
