"This morning I came across two cereal-related stories: the first, at USA Today, suggested millennials are killing certain foods—cereal included—but also American cheese, beer, and canned tuna. (Little do they know, that’s almost my entire diet.) The second article was from Vox—an exploration of low-carb, high-protein Keto cereal alternatives for millennials, such as the overwhelmingly pink Magic Spoon brand, which sells four boxes for $39. That’s a ten dollar box of cereal."

I had read that many convenience foods, such as boxed mac n cheese, are out of favor with millennials but cereal?

If they’re looking for healthy, there’s always oatmeal.0

Sean Spicer on Dancing with the Stars? Really?0
-
The DWTS cast is one of their strangest yet, IMO. I’m afraid this may be their last season as they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find contestants.0
-
Spicer surprised me too. It would be a hoot if he turns out to be good.0

You're right. If he's good that would be hilarious!
Somehow I didn't manage to DVR So You Think You Can Dance last night. Darn DVR. I don't look forward to watching it "on demand", complete with commercials.0 -
As least on Demand, there are fewer commercials.0

DH found a reference to this tissue dispenser (available on Amazon):

On my cable, you can’t fast forward network shows. I can fast forward many of the cable networks. Give your’s a try. You might find that fast forward is case by case.0

I have two triggers - animals and children.
The news story about the current administration suddenly deciding to deport children who are here to be treated for medical conditions and will die if sent back to their country (front page, New York Times)? I have no words.0 -
How about despicable? I suspect this won’t happen because the courts will issue a stay. But how utterly cruel to put families with critically ill children. Many of them come to Boston for treatment because of the superior medical care there. Boston TV interviewed a family from Honduras. The 16 year old son is being treated for life threatening cystic fibrosis. His sister died from the same condition because there is no treatment in Honduras for their condition. The son will die ifsent home. The family came on a medical visa and just got a letter saying they have 33 days to leave or be deported. How shameful. Both parents were in tears by the end of the interview.0

Despicable is good. Soul-less comes to mind as well. Rachel Maddow had some of the doctors on last night.
For the first time in 20 years I'm glad my mother is gone. All this mistreatment of children would destroy her.

The orange Cheeto is completely lacking in compassion and/or empathy. Unbelievable that his advisors won’t stand up to him and tell him how bad this makes him look. Or maybe they do and he just doesn’t care. Utterly disgusting.0
-
I could believe he’s given advice on how bad all this stuff makes him look, but he doesn’t listen. I use hope come election time, voters remember how much he’s hurt the country an vote him out.0

If you have been missing me, I have been in the hospital for 6 days. On a Tuesday evening, I was lying in bed when I dropped an item over the side of the bed closest to the wall. The space is big enough to walk and make up bed. I reached too far and gravity pulled me down. I couldn't get up as there was not enough space to get myself in a position to do it. I laid there 48 hours before I was rescued. I was a mess and the incident kicked my AFib back into play.
They couldn't get the AFIB under control so they were going to do a cardioversion and send me home. The day before that I told them that an upper arm that had been bothering me was getting worse. They checked and agreed and had an ultra sound down. I had a blood clot so the cardioversion had to be cancelled.
I'm just waiting for the blood clot to dissolve. I have to see my primary and take him copies of all that the hospital in the city did and also see the cardiologist on 9/12. Believe it or not, despite not having food or water for 48 hours, I did not get hungry but I was extremely dehydrated.0 -
Oh Jean! I’m so sorry! I had been wondering about you, but assumed you were working and just too tired to post when you got home every day. That is so scary! I hope all works out ok once the bolt clot dissolves.0
-
Jean - that's terrible! I figured you were wrapped up in back to school. When do you see the primary????0
-
I see the primary on Sept 5 and cardiology on Sept. 12. It was an experience I would wish on anyone, but the hospital people were great. I actually miss them. My CK reading was over 8,000 when admitted and down to 300 when released. The normal range is 9-200. That reading is a measure of inflammation, muscle damage, etc. Since the heart is a muscle, it contributed to the return of the AFib. I really don't know what lies ahead except I won't be as careless. This is something that could happen to anyone at any age when not using more safe measures.0

Jean - sending out super strong healing thoughts your way. On my cat bulletin board we also sent out "ESPs" for healing! Sending many of those your direction. What a scary thought. I think I'll go lie down next to my bed and see if I can get up! Just in case.0

About a year ago a friend and I were talking and somehow the subject of flexibility and strength came up. She pointed out that as we get older it’s important to practice being able to get up off the floor without using our hands or holding onto something to pull yourself up. At first I couldn’t even think how I would do that but later figured out that I would need to roll onto my knees first then push up from there. I practice doing that from time to time. I realize that wouldn’t have helped you, Jean, in this situation, but I do think it’s important to work on this “skill”. What a horrible, scary experience for you. I hope you recover fully and soon.

Pam - I'm going to try working on that.
This is a great book on the subject: strong women stay young

I've been a total slackard and not keep up with the exercises.0 -

Jen, of course you were missed. But we knew school had started and figured you were subbing. How were you found? Does someone check on you if they don’t hear from you? It sounds like you had wonderful care. Midnight must have missed you like crazy. I hope your recovery goes smoothly.0
