I know how it would go in my house — badly! I have almost no self control when it comes to chocolate, unfortunately.

I predict the chocolate might last four or five days in my house. DH could eat one piece and be fine. I’d have polished off 4-5 pieces during that time. Chocolate is definitely a trigger food for me. Same thing with chips too.
I made homemade chili today in the crockpot. It’s been a little cool here so it felt like chill or soup weather. I hope all of you are keeping safe and warm.

    Pam - that's hilarious!

Helene - very, very cold here today and tomorrow but it's supposed to be in the 50's by early next week.

First for this superbowl? Male cheerleaders.

    Pam--Funny!!

Maryanne--Good for the male cheerleaders. I never indulge in the Super Bowl.

Helene--I actually ordered that chocolate to give as a gift to someone but I might keep one of the three boxes--the one with pecans.

Well, we hit 6 below last night with a greater wind chill. We are on a 3 hour delay tomorrow because of a weather advisory. Time will tell. It is supposed to be in the 50s on Sunday.

Superbowl is on after DH's bedtime so it won't be on TV here.

Schools are closed; schools are closed. Snow day pack # 3 will be due upon return. Each subject has a day's work to be completed so students were given 5 days of work in early December, most of which is enrichment and remediation. Supposedly if a certain percentage of students return the work, the days will count as an instructional day and will not need to be made up. This is a new tactic after we went from early August to sometime in early June making up days last year.

The only reason I would watch the Super Bowl is to watch Maroon 5 and Adam Levine perform.

I’ve become a football fan the last few years and the Patriots are my team. Even if you’re not fans, you’v probably heard of Tom Brady. He’s 41 years old and still playing at the top of his game. Part of what makes him successful is that he stays in shape and exercises year round l He eats a very clean diet, much of it plant based. He’s planning to return again next season and I believe he once said he’d like to play until he’s 45. The man is amazing. So DH and I will be tuned in to see how our team does.

Jean, sending the kids home with those packets is brilliant. I hope they get a goodly percentage back. It’s better than expecting the kids to make up weeks of weather related school days.

I like to watch the adds during the game, but unless the Dallas Cowboys are in the game I have no interest.

Jean, I love the idea of sending home the packets to avoid make up days. I wonder how many will be returned and how many were lost. I’m sure a certain percentage of them simply disappeared, either accidentally or on purpose.

I can’t believe how cold it’s been in some parts of the country. I have a friend who is currently living in Pentwater, MI (the one who is caring for her elderly parents) who sent pictures of all the snow up there. Pentwater is on Lake Michigan, so they get lake effect snow. She and her husband were so bundled up I wouldn’t have recognized them if I hadn’t known who sent me the pictures, lol! Another friend in Grand Rapids posted similar pics.

I saw a brief clip last night of the 2 school administrators doing a different song to announce another snow day. I haven’t looked for the whole clip yet on YouTube, but I’m sure it’s out there. I think it was a song from Frozen, appropriately enough.

If I was a kid and did the work and the day didn't count I'd be mad as hell AND I'd never do it again. That's sort of an iffy plan.

Sort of tongue in cheek article on watching the Super Bowl - starts off with

Hello sports fans, are you ready for the Big Game? The Football Sunday? The Aggressively Trademarked Super Gameroo?

If you're counting down the hours to the game, or are just going to watch out of some sense of American obligation, here's everything you need to know about how to watch, where to watch, and who to watch.

Sorry, you'll have to come up with your own "why."

I saw the clip of the Michigan administrators doing another snow day announcement. I didn't think it was a good as the other.

Oh, I'm sure the teachers will report that the appropriate work has been returned from the Snow Day packets. I also think grades are to be entered for them.

Maryanne--Love the graphics and the thoughtfulness of the vet.

Now, this is my opinion of the accuracy of the groundhog:

DH just read somewhere that the ground hog is 40% accurate - you're better off flipping a coin. LOL!

Maryanne--The quote was on the Weather Channel website showing the video of the poor groundhog being hauled out of its warm hole:

NOAA has said that Punxsutawney Phil has "no predictive skill," and has been accurate 40 percent of the time.

All the outside cats I feed seem to have survived this week's frigid temps. Thank goodness! I have to remind myself sometimes that we do live south of the Mason Dixon line. Not like we're "up north" any more. LOL!

Maryanne--I don't know that being south of the Mason Dixon Line means much at some times but I'm glad your outside cats did o.k. I don't think I would be using a spray bottle on that big "kitty." I like the Instagram post.

Midnight is taking a nap but I'm sure that if I moved toward the kitchen that he would be instantly alert and on the move. He kept me up last night by snuggling on the pillow behind my head and patting my face until I got up. He has been very "clingy" today so I hope he is ok.

I just finished a delightful book called Street Cat named Bob. Bob is a ginger stray cat who gets adopted by a recoveries drug addict. It’s by James Bowen. He says meeting Bob has saved his life. Because he had to care for Bob, James is able to give up a 10 year heroin addiction. There are several U Tube videos of Bob and James. James originally made his living as a street musician and later sold a magazine called the Big Issue. Google Bob the Big Issue cat to find the videos. Bob has become famous worldwide because of the videos.
