Appalachian Trail Mission Slimpossibles Thru Hike Step Challenge
The Final Approach—Closing in on Katahdin
Distance Covered so Far: 2080 miles
Vermont's mountains aren't called the Green Mountains for nothing! This section of the A.T. is characterized by dense and verdant forests. We were only in Vermont for 45 miles, but it sure was beautiful!
Stratton Pond is one of the highlights of this section of the trail.
Our next state, New Hampshire, features more miles above treeline than any other Appalachian Trail state. This provides exposed ridges with amazing views when the sun is shining, as well as the worst weather in the world when storms hit. The trail runs across the summit of Mt. Washington, home of the highest winds ever recorded on planet Earth. Hikers much choose wisely before attempting to cross Mt. Washington. Weather can turn deadly very quickly, and every year hikers have to be rescued from the flanks of Mt. Washington even in the middle of summer due to severe weather.
If we are lucky, we will have seen a moose somewhere in New Hampshire.
New Hampshire is also home to one of the most scenic parts of the trail, Franconia Ridge, where you literally walk a fine line between steep drop offs on either side. But the views, my, they are amazing!
The last leg of our journey will be through the 100-mile Wilderness area of Maine. Read the sign. Are we ready???
When we finish this next 100 miles through the most remote part of the trail, we will be ready to summit Katahdin. Let’s do this!!!

Hey Slimpossibles... I need some jollying along if possible. Went out on a school night last night and sank my worries in some mead. Due to my steps, I only overspent by about 300 calories, even if that's a low estimate, still could be worse. BUT! Of course, sleep was awful, my skin has reacted, and I skipped my planned weights sesh this morning.
I don't want this to be the thing that makes me sink the week. Got to go to a party on Saturday that may involve expectations to over drink as well, and I just want to hide!
Also found my 3rd grey hair. I'm sure it's related.
So Calories: over
Water: need more
Exercise: abs, weights, 16567 steps
Help!1 -

Don’t let it be the thing that sinks the week! Get back at it today - eat clean, get lots of water and some good sleep tonight. Try not to worry about missing your weight session. You did a great job yesterday with your steps and only being 300 calories over. That’s really good all things considering.
I can’t say anything good about finding the grey hair unfortunately. I hate my grey hair - I’ll be colouring my hair until the day I die!
Make a plan for Saturday - if you want to go, then go and have a great time but see what it is like to limit your drinks. Maybe others won’t notice because they will be drunk! 😁 But if you really don;t want to go tell them you are sick. A little white lie never hurts, right??4 -

Hey @Wishusdonna - Everything @Kres567 said! Especially the water today, and a plan for Saturday.
We're thinking of you.
P.S. The grey hair made me laugh and sympathize. I can't count mine anymore, or won't. I just color them.2
