And if that wasn't bad enough.... blood work came back. Blood sugar is a little HIGHER than it was last appointment. I was honestly expecting a significant improvement, not worse. After going through my diet and my exercise patterns, the doc is changing up my drugs. Putting me on something that will overwork my kidneys and increases risk of amputations but what can you do. He reminded me that three of the drugs I am on tend to put weight ON but was quick to say that was something I need to overcome, it's not an excuse. He also suggests I add some sort of weight training to my exercise (to help my cholesterol.) He also had some suggestions about diet changes.
Positive aspects - weight down 4 pounds since my last visit and bad cholesterol and triglycerides much improved. So I must be doing some small things right.
He is a good doctor.
Wyfe and I are having a long discussion about all this.5 -

I have been doing good with my workouts. I did take off yesterday and today. My body needed it. But I will be back at it tomorrow. I plan on walking all the rail trails that are around my area. I try to walk about 1 1/2 -2 miles then turn around and go back. So I get a good walk in. I enjoy it. My sister and niece are coming tomorrow to go swimming. My sons girlfriends sister is planning her baby shower. I had him check in with her today because noone is really telling me anything except to get her a list. She says she wants to keep it small, only about 30 people. My list was 24 people. How do you tell family they can't come? Trying to figure out what to do. I thought maybe just have my own for her but does that make me an *kitten*? Tough choice. I'll have to figure something out quick.2 -

yesterday was a beautiful day. the weather was lovely. the sun was shining. i was getting my hair done and i got a phone call. it was the boss from the job i just interviewed for. he offered me the position. wow. was a crazy wonderful day. at the wedding was me, Jim, My youngest son, Gene, Jims daughter and son and his sons wife. we went out to dinner afterwards and then went to my folks for a visit. Mom doesn't feel well and dad didn't want to leave her side. we are now husband and wife. and just like that my wedding day is in the books. sunday i take gene back to the airport and then monday we will leave for our honey moon. food wise i did well. water, i should have drank some but we were so busy and i really didn't see, 20 bathroom breaks making it easier.

@sleepymom5 sometimes struggles are important. life is never going to be easy every day. we need to learn to be the new us even on tough days. this is just who we are now. start with the basics pam. eat when you slightly hungry and stop when your satisfied. pay attention to your body. put a sticky note by the place you sit to eat to remind you to slow down and listen to your body. it is a new skill, but a very important one to relearn. and you do have to get over it and get in the water. you have every right to be there. doesn't matter. your strong and fierce. not get in there!!
@carlsoda and your dinner sounds YUMMM. and maintains are good especially when you have a very indulgent day with the pie!!
@lenka1 ayayyay... nice loss. you are doing great. lol and a smorgasbord is a feast for sure. i have not been to one in a very long time. but have enjoyed them a time or 12!!
@nstephenson01 how are you doing with the yoga? did you find a class that you liked? i know you were trying them all for a while. our farmers markets do not have produce yet. i wish they would hurry up. and recreational reading is good for the soul. it is beautiful self care.
@gottagetthisdown yeah look at the new you go! print that plan out and keep it with you, then check things off the list as you go. it is building a new habit so it is going to talk some time to have it come naturally. remember the story i posted about the ball and the sand hill.
@eyesopennow and i am going to tell you that that is not bad at all. have you and wyfe (since she is the cook) taken a diabetes class? they usually give them at the hospitals. i learned a lot about the right ratios of your food choices there. i am sorry this is a struggle for you. but your doctor is right. you cannot use that as an excuse. i know it is really easy for me to say and much harder for you to do. but it can be done. and it can be done by you!! this is the last time we are going to lose this weight mike. we are going to make this happen this time. sit down and make a formal plan. what do you need to do to make this great healthy new mike. write it out. do the four circle goals. that will then tell you what you need to do every day. you really need to take this seriously because you and i both know this is life or death. now..... carve out the time you need to make this plan and lets get busy together.
@ljdanny i don't think that makes you a *kitten* at all. many people have two baby showers. one for one side of the family and one for the other. so i don't think it is off the wall. but i would discuss it with you son and his girlfriend. and let them know what your thinking and get there input. and your right. that is a tough position to be in. but your a tough lady you got this.

@cyndiesstuff first your words made me cry when I saw that you stayed on plan. Then you got the job!!!! And now your married!!! Oh my what joy!!! And the gorgeous dress and lovely photos made me cry some more. I am so happy for you. Your hair looks beautiful. I think you have some good material for a new profile pic.

Yesterday was pretty nice overall. Robin and I went to lunch. Our lovely new tenants just moved in. I’m in the midst of a huge business loan at work. My branches our getting recognized for improved performances and we made it to DC. I had to scramble to get our bills done and clothes packed but we did it.
I was starved by the time we made it to lunch. They changed my favorite sandwich. Lightened it for summer. Maybe I will get use to it. Loved the old one.
I felt like I ate more than usual yesterday.
DC all day today. Father’s Day pool party tomorrow. And tomorrow morning my BIL and I are running with a local group here in DC area around a lake. I’m looking forward to it. It’s about 41/2 miles.

Just got news from hubby. He just finished the same ultra, but cycling This is his first one, so I'm very proud of him

Well geez that's a huge gain. My calories for the week starting with Sunday and ending on Friday are: 1285, 1535, 1390, 1270, 1650, and 1720. My plan was to try for 1200 each day but it's so hard. Still, did I eat so many calories that I gained almost 3 pounds? My steps for Sunday to friday: Saturday my Fitbit had died and didnt get to charge it until about 2pm on Sunday, so it only recorded 4905, Monday was 15016, Tuesday 14811, Wednesday 16591, Thursday 12861 and Friday 10345. This is so frustrating!5 -

I had to buy hubs a new phone yesterday, his was slowly dying, and I spent a couple of hours last night playing around with it for him. So funny how I just adore technology and he hates it. So dinner plans changed and I didn’t get my steps in....but I had fun 😁
Today I need to get a bunch of stuff done, bills paid, laundry, weeding, etc and FIL is coming over for dinner and church. Tomorrow is a hiking day, that’s what hubs wanted to do for Father’s Day!

Spent a lot of time catching up so no time to comment. I will talk to you all later. My daughter and I are going up to the boardwalk. They have all venders up there. We are thinking that we will be walking slowly so it won't be too bad on my hip. It is a beautiful day here at the shore. I got down very late last night. I will check in later!

@lenka1 Nice loss! Looks like your plan is working! Yes! I do know the Shady Maple! Lol! We can't go to that area without a stop there! I have even been there on field trips with the kids. The food is amazing! Enjoy!
@nstephenson01 You're right, I do have to get over it. I was thinking with high tide I could even get in and just hold the dock and kick at first. I love your plans for the day-you are so active and productive! Sometimes we need those get your act together days to be productive in the days that follow!

@eyesopenednow Don't forget that you do have a medical condition that isn't all under your control. You have been doing great. Your blood sugar doesn't reflect your work. This is on the meds not on you. If you weren't doing what you have been, the results would have been worse and it would have been hard for the doctor to see he needed to adjust your meds. He probably would have you work on your diet and activity before he tweeked your medicine. So consider this a win. Sucks but still a win for how hard you have been working. I am sure the doctor loves the fact that he can see what you have been doing, suggest some changes and knows that you are someone who actually is going to listen. There is a lot of non compliant patients out there which is frustrating. Great report on weight, cholesterol, and triglycerides too! Hang in there! I know it is frustrating but you are doing awesome! You are also giving me a kick in the butt because I am fortunate and don't have the issues you are facing so more of a reason to get my @ss in gear before I do.
@ljdanny Lol! I am glad I am not the only one! I even had the kids fetching my drinks Guess my floating, drinking days are over! I wish we had those rail trails close to us. My brother has them in Pittsburgh. I can imagine how nice they are in your beautiful state! Enjoy! This is what I think you should do for the shower. I think you should have your own shower for her. Just say that you have a lot of people who are interested in coming and don't want to make it harder on her sister. You should invite her Mother and sister to yours and you may have to go to her sisters one to represent. Too bad you don't have a daughter to take with you but how about your sister? Unless you know the family well. Or maybe since they aren't married you can get away with not going...unless that will happen down the line.

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven’t checked in, been so busy! Work has been insane! They laid-off staff and are not replacing them. My group was 5 people, we are down to 2😢
I’m feeling good. I had a slight loss today. The beginning of the week, I was off, but was able to pull it together the last few days. Got up this morning, did my workout, went to my WW meeting, now getting a pedicure!😁 Have lots to do this weekend.
