Yes - the cataract surgery in a distance prescription implant to replace my super strong glasses. The surgery for the detached retina brought on a fast growing cataract - so for the past almost two years virtually no vision in my left eye.

Wasn't sure what would be behind the cataract - because I went from couldn't see because of the retinal issues to couldn't see because of the cataract. Surgeon was very very conservative regarding what I should expect. But it seems that the retina healed very very well! :)

My house is filthy. Absolutely filthy :)

I'm at the no bend no exertion stage - so I will go lightly. But this afternoon I'm cleaning my medicine cabinet (leaded glass doors are … filthy :) ….) and will paint the frame around them. Black - kinda dumb over a bathroom sink where you brush your teeth.

    It is so exciting!

I've had pretty significant myopia since I was ?? twelve or so. I was able to read with no glasses - but distance was a challenge.

My vision is now better than it has been in 50 years.

Still lots of vertigo as my brain adjusts to all the new info coming from my left eye - which it has basically shut off - and discomfort because my eye keeps trying to focus to see close up and it hasn't fully healed yet - but I imagine very soon that it will be completely mind blowing - not just half :)

My right eye has the beginning of a cataract - something that I might never need surgery for - but - surgeon is doing it and giving me a distance prescription in that eye so that the eyes will match.

    Woohoo!!!!!!!!

I will now need glasses to read though - and for arms length stuff. But that feels okay :)

It sounds likely that someone will soon resume painting 😜

Dun dun dun - I am awaiting cataract surgery and now am NOT looking forward to dust bunnies nor the desperate need of fresh paint/good clean that no doubt will greet me on my recovery!!

    Thanks y'all 😜

Great to hear about your amazing vision though Laurie 🥰

You will love it, BC. Best thing is that when you first notice it - you cannot yet clean. So you get to celebrate your vision :)

I've been painting all along, PAV. Just very close. My face a few inches from the painting and my palette in my hand - very close to my face also 😜 now you’ve given me an excuse to post a picture of my most recent painting … which is very different from what I usually paint but was inspired by some swans I saw in the fog while driving home from Newfoundland … now I just have to paint the fog after I give the swans another one over

At least, you think there was fog 🤔

You must show us the finished painting when done Laurie, now that we had the exclusive preview!

Oh Yooly - I wouldn't like that :( Thank you for the kind words :)! I hope it cools for you soon…(I know it probably won't but will picture a cool drizzle making it way across Texas).

LOL Ladybug. Honestly the question in my mind is "were they really swans" :) I think so, but the fog was so very very thick I wouldn't bet on it. The traffic on the highway was slowed to just above a stop and to my right were these beautiful (???) white mounds in a wet field. And that was two years ago. But I'm holding onto the idea that they were swans :)

OK kiddos. I've got a week and the place is beyond a mess. And if laurie has bunnies, I have dogs and cats and who knows what other animals. Plus a bunch of other situations and people placing time demands. For realz. So I am telling myself that I have to post less! :(

How about a one-time house cleaning service PAV? Pricey but you have to balance time vs. money. Besides the lovely CCCGG deserves your best efforts. I’ve learned that in a time crunch to delegate what can be done well/ better by others.
Temporarily post less even though you’ll be missed. And of course, we expect a full report with photos when the festivities are over.

I have to clean enough to be able to sucker one of these services to accept the challenge :) and have space for them to be able to clean! 😲 And yes yes to the rest of it :)

She has threatened to move into one if the joint doesn't pass her white glove inspection!?!!!🤯

I'm also getting "pressured" re a foreign and perturbing custom which is, apparently, known as (are you ready for this) FOLDING your clean laundry 🤯🤯🤯

A __totally__ unnecessary activity which involves fondling and petting each individual item in spite of having already dutifully piled it in an appropriately categorized drawer!!!!🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ (I mean what's wrong with the laundry basket as permanent storage in the FIRST place?!!!🤷‍♂️)

(I'm not even going to mention torturing clothes via the application of hot branding implements and steam, which, thankfully, is an activity reserved for minx type clothing, and not a threat levied against mine!!!!)

    🙈

She actually threatened me today that she will go through my drawers on arrival for the express purpose of fondling and petting the already pre-sorted items!!!🤯🤯🤯 Claiming it is for her mental health!!!! 🤕🤷‍♂️

Can you imagine the grief that I would get if I were to do that in reverse?????🤔🤔🤔

Omg screaming here! Similar dynamic here, dh does not give a care about it...

(Discovered I'm not in the mood for whiny today, lol... So, seeking some comedy entertainment tonight for laughs. This rather hit the spot....)

Oh the humanity!! Another evil minion of the cult of clothing torturers applying flash boiled water and glowing irons on poor defenseless clothes!🤯

I fold out of the drier straight into the laundry basket, which keeps the hot irons at bay 99% of the time, but I'm not gonna pretend I don't employ one from time to time - must wield authority over the otherwise unwieldy. Or shouldn't that be unwieldly? My phone is in full disagreement…perhaps it should be the unyielding…yield ye to my flattening process!!

I'm all for hiring housecleaning! Worth every nickel (alas, we as a nation are penniless).

10 days from now I shall be arriving in sunny Puerto Vallarta 🌞. Just gotta survive 5 full days of daycare first (Spring break starts tomorrow, looking after the grandkids 3 days this week and 2 the next). They are my son's children.

My (childless) daughter is gifting me this vacation as it is my 65th birthday next Sunday!

Quite the contrast in treatment eh? 😜

Only one more week to play 'When I'm 64' and mean it! 😊

Ah - I vaguely remember turning 65! Soooo long ago. Enjoy it! And the upcoming vacation too.

We survived a government shut down. So I still have all my work hours and pay. Which is good. But I think my brain and body shut down this past weekend in relief.

Upside, I can now keep planning for a convention next month and a trip to Salem in May. I also upgraded our flight TO Boston in May for First Class. United changed the flight time so I go a free change and First Class on the earlier flight was CHEAPER then our economy seats on the flight after. My friend was already suggesting we stay at a hotel close to the airport the night before so it worked perfectly.

PAV's got brief grief :) couldn't resist! I, like BC, like to fold between the dryer and the basket (except I don't have a basket - so I fold and stack on my counter. Perhaps SHE likes to pet your undies ????? :) Not a bad thing!

Works out well, BC. One child provides grandchildren and the other vacations! Sort of like that with my boys at the moment. The currently childless one has time and money to spoil me a little bit :)

So much stress Athijade. No wonder you had a decompression weekend. Hope your travels are smooth and pleasant!

My weekend has included much "waist height and above" cleaning and painting. Open kitchen shelves were emptied, washed and painted! Much better than how they were. Quite filthy and paint chipped. Who knew??????

Oh the tasks of keeping house 😉

We're on the 60s roll over here, so "officially" joining the club.

Oh well, MCD's been chopping 20c off my coffee for a while now and I didn't even have to ask!🤯

Unfortunately the washer and dryer are downstairs in the furnace room so I more often than not miss the end of the cycle cause I'm off doing something else

Mondays are sorts & errands... turned the news off - too crazymaking.

Hubby flipped tv on after work and it was a long crazy 2 worktrucks hitting each other on California hwy similar to watching the long chase with OJ... then another chase with cars going on, flipping news betwen the chases.... wild, i tell ya, we were ready to pop corn!

Finally realized it was a 'car chase' program about car chases...

    Lol

Station flip - landed on war tensions,

    Flip.

    Back off.

    Jazz on radio.

    Better.

    Happy Monday all
