This past week I was issued a challenge to post what I am grateful for on social media. My facebook page has been flooded with nothing but what people are grateful for and I have to admit it has made a huge difference in my life. This morning I woke up just thinking of all the wonderful blessings I have in my life. From family, friends, modern conveniences, technology, modern travel, warm weather, cool weather, the beauties of the world..... the list is endless. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow in what ever part of the world you are living.6 -

Super excited to be under 215! Feels great after the mini plateau I was on
@Terytha I understand the anxiety over the lockdown. The prairies are really getting hit hard. Alberta especially, you guys went from barely any restrictions to total lockdown. I had fun watching the Premier's of Manitoba and Quebec poke at each other through media conferences on the news last night. Each province is dealing with it very differently. Hunker down, stay safe, game and write to relieve anxiety. Virtual hugs are being sent your way

Got out of the shower and noticed for the first time that the towel fit all the way around me, without flaring out and leaving an open gap at the hip like it used to! This is fabulous, now I won't feel like I'm scandalously at risk of flashing the neighbours when I run back to the bedroom from the bathroom (reno budget hasn't allowed for blinds yet!) (or an ensuite bathroom!!)
Super happy!
I'm looking forward to that success sometime this winter!
Unfortunately, @jugar, that won't be today. CW= 188.2
Sorry, team. I'm hoping it's temporarily water weight from too much salty food. I'm going to work at getting more water and also getting enough solid sleep. These things make such a difference.
Have a great Thanksgiving, to my fellow 'merkins. Our family "bubble" (which consists of my spouse and my 2 daughters) will spend some time together...first time in about 20 years.
Yeehah!

Hello everyone!
I am so excited to be a part of this group. Thank you for having me.3 -
I forgot to introduce myself duh. I'm Dia from Atlanta. I gained a majority of my weight when my grandmother got sick. It was stressful taking care of her, trying to work and take care of my mother. Half of the time I forgot to eat or ate late at night, fell asleep for a 3 or 4 hours and back up again. Circumstances have not been the best at times but I'm learning to make myself a priority, to make healthier and wiser choices and to enjoy the process.4

Welcome @healthygirlintransit !
Dia - I hope you will find a good community on our team here. It is so important to have some friends you can lean on, complain to, and get inspired by. The best thing you can do is come in here every day, catch up on everyone's messages, and post about how you're doing. Questions are welcome, advice for others, requests for advice, explaining how you have done well, or what you're hoping to improve. Everything goes! It sounds like you have had a lot to do taking care of your mother and grandmother. Time to take care of you2 -

Hello everyone!
Welcome to @healthygirlintransit ! You will love this group ❤. Today was a great food day with lots of veggies and lean meats. Even some room for cookies 🍪 😋. I did weights the past two days so today is a no workout day. At least I am not so sore anymore 🙂. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the states. I plan to just enjoy the day and not worry about tracking or fretting. I will probably work out tomorrow but I am not sure if it will be weights or ballet. Something to do while the turkey cooks.
@Gidgitgoescrazy the down dog HIIT app sounds awesome. I love the customization options. I may have to give it a whirl while it's free.
@Terytha Dang, I'm so sorry for the shutdown in your area. It has been a long haul and I think we all have felt the pressure. Hopefully you can find some distraction to carry you through. Hang in there. ❤
All of the limitations are getting old with covid. My kids and I zoomed with my mom and niece today. It's kinda funny, nothing is really going on with anyone. We just talked about our 🐕 dogs😂 Hang in there everyone!2 -
If anyone is interested in Ballet Beautiful, you can try it for free for 7 days. Be aware the monthly fee is $40. I buy streaming videos instead because you can keep them forever and spend way less. It's a mix of cardio, barre and my favorite mat work! So if you like laying on the floor or classical music music check it out! And I love Mary Helen Bowers ❤ She's delightful and a mom of 3 littles.

Thank you all so much for your replies to my motivation question. I am so sorry to have been MIA for a couple days. I’ve been busy cooking and playing (I’ve been Rudolph and Santa and a baby rabbit and a vet, etc My little granddaughter has a very active imagination.) Plus I have reduced my time on my phone thus the apps on my phone. Then, I continue with my nightly journaling. So there is all that.
@MandiSaysHey I hear you. Motivation is hard sometimes but I think Kristi (@conleywoods) hot the nail on the head. “Quit relying on motivation.” It’s true there are days you don’t want to go to work, but still we do it because we have to. That’s a really great comparison and so true. I am definitely like you though. I am a bit better about the feeling of missing out on favorite foods because I eat them. But not as much. Except that occasional cookie slip up. But food is comfort and love in my world too. You’ve got this. We’re in it together.
@conleywoods Great thoughts on motivation. I will keep that in mind. That is so accurate. Just do it. And I definitely agree that you have to change things up to make it exciting and new.
I wonder what it is about that Mexican food? I wasn’t right for two days.
@Steph1498 Great attitude. Hope your day turned out well.
@eggfreak Those baked good sure do have loud voices. Don’t they?!
@Gidgitgoescrazy Your baking sounds amazing too. What kind of holiday cakes do you make?
I have a similar attitude about food. I’m not going to eliminate the things I love. Just figure out how to make it work. You have done an amazing job making it work. I’m glad for the reminder that exercise is about staying “young” and keeping our bodies feeling good. Thanks for that.
@jugar What a wonderful time you have ahead of you with your daughter home for a visit! Please tell us more about these Swedish Coffee rings.
I will keep reading and responding but it may be a bit to catch up with all the posts from you lovelies.
Oh for my Fitbit buddies. My Fitbit was on the blink and would not charge right this week. So steps are off or nil. Then a piece actually broke off it, the same day I finally ordered a new one. I NEED my Fitbit.

@Gidgitgoescrazy I had a few occasions of anxiety a while back and my dr also gave me meds for use in an emergency. She said having them may mean I won’t need them but it’s a comfort knowing you have them. One thing I did figure out, it had to do with being in peri-menopause. That period (or lack of lol) can cause anxiety. I’ve been good for a while now and I am 3 days away from my “official” menopause. I am on the older side of average at 56. Hope the meds help you feel better. I also found that camomile tea helped. Also good luck with your 5k. Let us know how you do.
@Terytha So sorry it’s been rough. We are all so tired of this pandemic. Never imagined we’d still be dealing with it. Unfortunately here in the US, it looks like it will get even worse. Hang in there and keep checking in.
Welcome @healthygirlintransit! Glad to have you join our team.
Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating in the US. Stay safe. 🦃😷
And I’m all caught up. Thanks for the steps. I’ll work on that tomorrow. After I take a morning walk perhaps. 😃1 -

Getting behind with reading again! Last weekend was really not great, as the scale can tell. Hoping to keep things reasonable with portions today for Thanksgiving. As @jugar said, determined to be more on the ball in December!
Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating!4 -

Well, I was really hoping for a total loss for the month which I started at 217.0. This isn't going to do it but at least I am on track and dropping pounds again. Happy Thanksgiving 😊7 -
Wishing all the Americans in the group a great Thanksgiving! I have been spacing out all the conversations today with my family - mom in North Carolina, my brother in Ohio, my dad in Massachusetts, and my sister and nieces in Vermont - getting through the list! We have not spent Thanksgiving together much since I left the US in 1977 but it is always good to talk. I get in a lot of steps - walking around and around while we gab - and that helps on such a foggy, slushy day - snow but just above freezing.
And here I am with the (possibly unwelcome) reminders for Friday weigh-ins:

Don't sweat it if you have a "bad" weigh-in this week. I'm getting advice about how to get everyone motivated from my daughter. She's in the Canadian army and is now qualified to lead training.

@jugar That is amazing!!
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve eaten today. Haha I decided to not worry about today. My goal is to just enjoy. ❤️❤️4 -

My PT was cooking in the kitchen all day. Everything was yummy. Rainy outside.
I did well not snacking a lot before dinner. I kept eating slices of carrot. I guess I have learned some things the last few years.
Happy Thursday and Thanksgiving all. Christmas decorations go up this weekend.

Steps today 11,519
I went on a 3 mile walk this morning alone just to get myself moving a bit and to enjoy some alone time. And then after dinner I dragged my son begrudgingly out on another walk lol. So thanks to the steps, I still was within my goal range for the day. I am feeling pretty good about that because I initially thought I would be way over.
I hope everyone who celebrated today had a wonderful holiday. ❤6 -

Pretty pleased with this loss, considering I indulged 3 days out of 7.
Ran C25K 3 times this week so I think that might have just tipped it in my favour.9 -

Good for you!! (& your son ). I didn't track my calories but did drag myself out in the evening for a walk. Felt better for it too!3 -

Not much of a surprise. This week has been hectic. Our son is out of hospital. We are staying with him because he is hooked up to an IV pump with antibiotic infusion for at least 3 weeks and they don't want him alone.
It has been an adjustment moving in with a 32 year old who is ill -- the mother instinct kicks right in so I have to consciously stop and remember he is an adult and I am only here to help. That is actually harder than it sounds like it should be! His vision is still quite restricted so I am doing most of the cooking -- handling knives seems like a bad idea if you can't see well. And after 3 weeks in hospital he is interested in all kinds of yummy comfort food so not the best scenario for weight loss.
I have started logging again today but exercise is a challenge I have yet to solve. And all the new COVID restrictions aren't making anything easier. I truly hope people start paying attention and taking things seriously so we can get back ahead of this thing sooner rather than later.5 -
Wow! I didn't realise that I've been too busy to come on here for at least 2 days. And I've lost my MFP streak (I really hate that!)
Hope all my American friends are still enjoying their Thanksgiving celebrations. Sorry I seem to have dropped the ball a little. I have had two new one-to-one students join and have been embroiled in onboarding, lesson plans and trying to complete my new online course lessons.
And now I notice that I haven't updated my steps and exercise since Monday.
So here are the last 3 days:

@CanadianGiraffe
Thanks for the update! It is so good to know your son is home, even if there is still a ways to go yet. You remind me of my closest friend whose adult son was living with her for a while recently. She also struggled with the ease with which we fall back into "mom mode" and trying hard to re-define the relationship when your children are fellow adults who need some support, but not at the level they did when they were young and under your care. Even though it is hard, I think it is a wonderful thing to have the opportunity for the relationship to evolve. So do not worry about the effects of the comfort food, the pandemic restrictions, and the northern winter. I say that, and then think how irritating it is when someone tells me the same thing! Find some good workout videos that do not take up too much space, and do them with no worries about who is watching, hearing, or thinking about it. Drink lots of water and try to lose at least some of it through your skin. Hugs to you!

Hats off to all of you! Good weigh-ins, good walking, great carrot eating. Every bit helps

@CanadianGiraffe glad your son is doing better, and totally understandable that it has been challenging to log/lose weight right now. Sounds like you are a great mom and he is lucky to have you. ❤2
