My name is Kristi and I'm 38. I have been married for 13 years and we have 3 kids ages 11, 9 and almost 6! I work as an occupational therapist for the schools 4 days a week. My husband took the year off to homeschool the kids. I started my journey at 255 lbs in February 2019. I'm down about 40 lbs. I'm currently working on revamping my workout routine to add more weight training. I drug a bunch of our old weights out of the barn and cleaned them up. Our house is pretty small so I am getting really good at organizing stuff into closets and little nooks. I also need to work on my macros and eat more protein. I am going to try calorie cycling with more calories the week before my period to see if that helps with PMS and the I've been on a diet forever feeling. I'm hoping November will be much better than last month. I have 4 months until my 2 year anniversary date for weight loss and I am really hopeful the changes I'm making will give me a boost.6

The Green Challenge Percentage of people who lost weight this week. No matter how small the loss the weights are recorded in green. Remember that even if your team doesn’t rank the highest in weight loss for the week you can still be the Green Percentage winner by having the most losses in your team! So keep it up!!

I am Sam and I live in Munich, Germany (originally from India, though). I am 34 years old, single and work in advertising. I have been fat all my life, have been using food as a crutch all my life.
I got serious about losing weight in 2009. Since then, I have made 4 serious attempts at losing weight( including this one) and lost close to a 100 lbs on two occasions. But both those times, I did in a very unsustainable manner and gained all the weight back plus more.
This time feels different (like all other times haha) because I am eating healthier and I don't have to depend on my willpower to stay within my calorie allotment, so we'll see. Since starting in May, I have lost 74 lbs and have 67 lbs to go till I reach my initial goal weight. I try to stick to 1820 calories a day and go out cycling 5-6 times a week.
I plan to reach my initial goal weight by March, my main goal weight by June and my ultimate goal weight by December next year.6 -

Hello, I am Kelly. I am a wife and mother of 4, ages 16, 10, 4, and 1. I teach Kindergarten Special Education. I have been in the group since January. I am on the higher end of my prebaby 4 weight, but my inches are on the lower end and my clothes fit really well. I wore my skinny jeans on Friday for the first time, even though my weight is up.🤷♀️
I had a rough week with sleep. The baby is teething and just wants to sleep with me holding her in the rocking chair. Unfortunately, I can't sleep like that. I'm pretty sure she will be waking up with me for my 5am workouts now that the time has changed, too.
November Goals- to be more consistent with my eating, logging, and workouts. Overall, I am proud of my slow progress. I can finally see a difference in how my clothes fit. But, I need to push myself to really get to the next level. I had a goal of 145 by Than, but clearly that isn't realistic. I will change it to New Years. 7 pounds over the holidays will be a HUGE challenge, but I really want this.5 -
Hi all, happy November! I'm Kay, just recently turned 26, single & living in Boston, MA. I work for an asset management company downtown. I am basically trying to get my "Freshman 15" and then some off from my college years, which were filled with alcohol, emotional eating, a lots of different stressors. I love to cook and meal prep, and I am obsessed with my Fitbit steps. I also love to make workout trackers and schedules in excel, with lots of color coding. I've been with this group since August of this year, and already making some new low weights, which is very exciting.
I am adding to some of my general November goals from the last thread, that I also want to avoid eating out and drinking at all before the Thanksgiving (US) holiday. A little more than 2.5 weeks should be doable.
@micki48 my steps for this week!
(Finally had to let the 100k goal go haha - too busy of a weekend!)6 -

So, for October my avg daily steps over the month came to 9800. For November I want to match or beat that. Work was BUSY tonight so i am off to a great start.

Hi everyone!
Welcome to all our new and returning members of Waistaways. I'm Michele, 56, stay at home grandma (after 20+ years teaching elementary school) and live in North Carolina. (Originally from New Jersey) I've been married 37 years and have two grown children.
I've been a member of this team since February 2019 and I am co-captain of this team with the amazing @jugar. I also run the weekly step challenge for anyone interested in an additional challenge and, mostly, accountability.
I started this journey because I was pretty close to my all time high of 223.5 and knew I wasn't going to get healthy on my own. Joining F2F and Waistaways has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. The support, encouragement, and motivation I have gotten being part of this group has been unparalleled.
Lately, I have NOT been doing very well. In fact, I had my biggest gain in October since I started, but that is totally on me. My first year, I lost around 25 pounds. Pretty reasonable for a woman my age, who is now less than a month to official menopause, and all the fun stuff that comes with that.
Not going to lie, this last year has been flat. I haven't really lost any weight, but I haven't really gained either. So really maintaining is a win. I also haven't quit and that is because this is a great group of people who are there for you. But, I am no where near my goal. I still have about 30 pounds to lose. My short term weight goal is to get to 188.
My goals for November are:
Net loss for month by...
*Meeting my daily step goal of 9,000 steps 5/7 days or more.
*Schedule workouts at least 3x week or more
*Log my food each day and stay within calories.
* Eat mindfully. Stop when full.
* Practice some sort of self-care each day (more about this later)
Have a great November. Glad you're here!6 -
If you are interested in participating in our November step challenge, let me know by responding to this post. Please let me know what your daily step goal is and then be sure to post your steps. You can post your steps daily or all at once at the end of the week, which ends on Saturday for us. Please get all steps in by Sunday afternoon. Your steps are recorded at the bottom of our team's spreadsheet. When I have recorded your steps, I will mark your post "Insightful".
You may also participate by sharing your exercise or both steps and exercise. @jugar has wonderful magic to convert your workouts to steps. Be sure to let her know minutes, kind of exercise, and intensity.
I post weekly results highlighting team steps, top steppers and those meeting daily goals. Join us! It's fun and great accountability.

I just finished C25K! I'm feeling super chuffed even though I didn't actuall make it to 5K. I will keep on running to increase my distance hopefully.
I was listening to a podcast about the anti-diet movement. Really thought provoking stuff. I didn't agree with everything especially the part about intuitive eating (my body just keeps telling me to eat) but something about nutrition did resonate with me. The downfall of calorie counting, for me anyway, is that it doesn't account for nutrition. I will happily choose a cookie for breakfast and stay within my calories but it's no good for me nutritionally.
So that's something I want to focus on as my food choices have been terrible lately and probably contribute to my disaster weekends.
I think I just perpetuate those bad habits and that bodes no good for me long term. Eating cookies only works if I then severely restrict my meals...must change my way of thinking.
Anyway that was my epiphany for the day. I'll keep you posted...6 -
@Pearl4686 I agree with your way of thinking. An egg is worth way more than a cookie. Great thought topic for my day!! Thank you.2

Good Morning And Happy Monday
1st a Quick introduction, I'm Vikki, I am 49 and live in Baltimore MD, Married with 3 grown children.. I am currently trying to convince them that they are the reason I need a tummy tuck so they should pay for it.. It's not going well...
Anyway, I have been chubby ever since having kids, right after my youngest I was very successful on Weight Watchers and got down to my goal of 135... Then stress entered, my relationship sucked, my job sucked, I moved out, bought my own house raised 3 kids by myself blah blah blah... Then I met a great guy, kids grew up, I got a new job, got married, got comfortable, then I was 192 pds, drinking all the time, smoking, having a grand ole time.. then I felt like *kitten*, the husband had some health issues, I had become a version of myself that was alot of fun and always up to go out and party, but I didn't feel good... So last end of last Sept I joined this group and it's been great, I have lost 30pds, gotten in much better shape, and although I am still working on quitting smoking (it's a roller coaster, I can go a month without smoking, then smoke for a weekend, then quit again) I don't drink nearly as much as before, and I have gotten really good at exercising and being active...
My November goals:
Exercise:
3 days a week strength training
2 days a week Yoga
4 days a week 10k steps
Food:
3 free days ( Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, and one random day)
The rest of the days I want to track everything, and be under my calorie goal, with only eating 25% of my exercise calories...
Mental Health:
I want to use my planner everyday, and not only write down my goals for that day, and earn my sticker, but to record whatever I am grateful for that day.
I want to read 5 out of 7 days per week.
I want to get out on atleast 3 nature walks.
Hope you have a great day !

Hi Vikki: Your story sounds a lot like mine! I am from New York originally but have been living in Maui for over 30 years. I smoked most of my life with a few big quits (7 years and 4 years). I finally quit for good the day my Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer over four years ago. I started using the nicotine lozenges and, like I do, got addicted to them -- I finally gave them up a couple of months ago (very hard to do but easier than cigarettes) and have gained over 7 pounds in that time. Good luck on quitting -- it can be done!!

Have a lovely Monday!1 -
I have been very slow at getting online today - it is wintery! Snow and wind, wild and crazy out there, and I had to do a lot of running around for groceries and other things. It will all probably melt late in the week when it warms up again, but I am enjoying the beginning of my favourite season.MandiSaysHey wrote: »MandiSaysHey

Does this mean you JUST hit 50 pounds LTD and passed it a bit? There will be a celebration! You keep it off this month, and you will be on the celebrations list
I have been remiss in my nagging, as often happens when I finish the tallies on Sundays and develop a severe, but temporary, allergy to being online doing the spreadsheets. But I get over it quickly! It is time for a dose of remindering.
Sunday and Monday weigh-ins still due:

Hello team!
Today is cold and windy. I’ve been trying to find a warm place to walk. No luck. Any suggestions? Haha We live an hour from anywhere. Haha JK (mostly) Tonight I think I’ll get on our stationary bike. I don’t particularly like it, but better than nothing! My other thought is to let my Mom lose In Wal Mart and walk every isle till she is done and ready to go home. She would love that!! ❤️
Cheers!4 -

Yes, 50lbs down from my highest ever. 36lbs down from my most recent starting weight this July.6 -
Hello everyone - and welcome to all our new team members.
My name is Yinka. I'm 57 and live with my husband, Ben, and our little dog, Edie, in a lovely little Georgian town called Bewdley in Worcestershire UK. I am an online English language teacher and a part-time columnist/blog writer.
I have been doing battle with my weight for about 20 years and I have about 30lb to lose. Being only 5ft tall, I really want to sheer off my excess weight. I was able to successfully about 15lb about 10 years ago, but have put back half of it since then. Then the menopause happened.
At the moment, it seems that my weight loss has plateaued and I need to find a way out of this state.
Working out is easy for me, and I workout about 5 or 6 times a week. Diet is my downfall. And I don't drink enough water. But I'm not giving up. I'm experimenting with more vegetables and I've stopped snacking at night.
Looking forward to hearing from our new members.7 -
