Hello ^^. Sorry for not being around too much, I'm still getting used to everything MFP has to offer and getting acquainted with the boards. Thanks for having me ^^

I tried to post earlier, but my phone totally froze up and would not send the message. It has little memory left.
@eggfreak Glad to have you rejoining the team. What’s your daily goal?
I cannot remember what I read and was responding to before. But I am so happy to be here with you wonderful people.
I took a 40 minute walk this pm with the little one to get one last glimpse of the Halloween decorations. It was a chilly beautiful day. 🌞 I am steps away from my daily goal of 9k. I have also done some of my PT exercises.
Stress level here in the US is going up and that includes me as well. Please let it be peaceful. There have already been issues here in N.C. ☹️ Just hoping for the best. Instead of eating bad foods with my daughter this afternoon, I had a Clementine. Win! Tomorrow I may need to drink somewhat. 🍸 🍷 🤫😂 I’ve already voted, so that’s done.
I have logged all my food, so that’s a win too. For my self-care goal today, I cleaned up all of my plants I brought inside. Not really me but makes me feel good to trim out the dead. I may paint my toes later.
@jugar brrrr! Happy winter season to you. Glad you have your trusty stove working again.
I will try and check back in a little later.3 -

Yesterday was a very cold and snowy day, I spent much of it being cozy with my puppy. Today I made venison stew for dinner and it's so yummy, nutritious, and comforting.
Tomorrow may be a workout at-home kinda day after work because it's election day here in the US and they will likely have the news playing at the gym 🙈. Like many others, I'll be happy when it's over!6 -
Steps today 8879. No other exercise unless you count the 2.5 hours I spent standing outside in the cold waiting to vote. Does shivering burn calories? 😂6

Day 2 report:
Steps: 3400
Words: 3628
Calories: under
Water: nope
Three out of four for day 2. That's still a pass.5 -
Hi everyone Happy November!
I'm a bit late to the new month's introductions, just quickly catching up now. My name is Krista, and I'm the lone ranger from the Southern Hemisphere (New Zealand) here in Waist Aways. Last month was my first month in the Fat2Fit group. A few life changes over the last two years saw me at my highest weight ever, and I've decided to finally try and do something about it. I'm still not seeing the results I *want* but I'm trying/learning not to be so hard on myself.
Last month had me notice that weekends are my biggest challenge! And I see myself let loose and it unravels more and more each week. So I think this month, I'm going to try and rein those weekends in hopefully, which might require some more careful planning ahead. Alongside that I'm going to:
- Log everything I eat, every day
- Attend my gym classes at least 3 times a week
- Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day
Wishing everyone strength and success for the upcoming month!

Hello and happy Monday 😊 I took the day off and I really enjoyed it. I went to the grocery store and it felt like I bought half the store 🙃 I wait too long to go and I needed to fill the freezer and pantry. Checked that off the list and took my son to pick up his new glasses. It was really nice out today and it will rain the rest of the week. Took a nice walk with the dog. I started lifting weights and it has been a long time. I feel like I have a lot to learn. I'm trying to target a few basic moves and lift heavy. I'm reading but I have a ways to go. I'll figure it out! Dropped my calories back down to my normal 1300ish. My weight is still all over the place. Up down and I don't know. I probably need to be more consistent 😉6

Yesterday was my first day back to logging my meals in about 10 days. We were in Italy and then coming back and I just let go of the habit for those days.
Today I am thinking about why it’s so valuable for me to keep an honest food diary:
- focus on my daily habits
- identify when I’m not getting enough fiber
- Stop before eating snacks or plan for them!
- Track my intake over months
- MFP also gives me a gold star 🌟 feeling when I complete my daily log. Even when I don’t stay within my calorie range...7 -
@micki48 my goal is 10,000 steps/day
Colder days here now, my evening walks not so appealing but I'll just need to dress for it. I think I'll need a long quiet peaceful walk this evening - avoiding the news barrage. I've voted, that's all I can do. I 'rescued' too many plants from the freeze - now to find a home for them all - but I do love the greenery in the house during winter - brings life to a room.
@jugar envious of your wood stove - we retired ours two winters ago for multiple reasons - where ever I end up living in a few years, a wood stove is on the list. Great peace of mind having a stove for backup. If I remember correctly - your ongoing issue with the sore behind came from a great fall on ice? A good warning for us all with winter here.
@Steph1498 oh so envious of your days in Italy and you HAVE to just let go and eat when in Italy.
@conleywoods Your post has given me a prod...I've been needing to get going with some basic freeweight exercises and now heading in to winter is a good time to get that habit started.
@coffeetwist we'll mostly be crying about snow and cold as you head into your summer. I spent 3 months in NZ once a long time ago- lovely country. For your weekends...maybe consciously allow just one of the two days/evenings to be a 'let loose' day.
For three days now, I feel back on track with logging. May it continue.5 -
Well I went over my calories yesterday, by 42... So no biggie, I also didn't exercise... I was having a very bad pain in my side, I thought maybe it was a kidney stone, but this morning I got up and exercised, pain was still there, but I wasn't letting 2 days get away, so I powered through, well the pain went away... so maybe it was just a wonky muscle that missed the exercise... Who knows, our bodies are freakin weird !
Todays goals are to get my 10K steps, and to do strength training... So I will need to get in a couple of work walks, but today is going to be much nicer than yesterday, it was a very blustery day, today is only slightly blustery...
This weekend is supposed to be really nice, so as long as there is no wind, we are taking the kayaks out for one last hurrah before putting them away for winter... I have no desire to be that person who kayaks in ice water, so yeah..
Have a wonderful day !

@Pearl4686 HI, your earlier post regarding calorie counting...For most of my life I was never interested in calorie counting - just not for me. I did very well at one point with the 'Sonoma Diet' (less of a diet, more of a portion control tool) but then that mental trick wouldn't work for me again and I finally gave in to calorie counting. Not for everyone, I know. But an added bonus by logging and using MFP is that it will break down the nutrients of all that you logged, not just calories- it's very cool. At the bottom of your day, on the phone app, tap on Nutrition (I don't see the option on the computer) and it gives you the numbers. It's where I realized that I am consistently too low getting my potassium and iron and helps me try to pay attention to what I'm eating to try to boost those. I just accidentally discovered last night that if I tap on 'potassium' for instance - it brings up a pie chart showing the potassium percentage of all the meals in that day. Like I said, calorie counting not for everyone, but MFP makes it a much more useful tool. The first column is what I logged, the second is the daily goal, and the third is the amount over or under (not sure why they choose to show a surplus for the day with a minus symbol).

Happy Tuesday!
@Pearl4686
I forgot to send you the virtual tiara yesterday for completing C25K! That is amazing, and I'm glad to hear also that you are continuing to work on that 5K and more. It is a good program - and tough!
@dashofwicked
YOU have been crushing your goals! 2 pounds gone. Fave song + happy dance for you!
The world is covered in a lot of white stuff this morning. The heavy kind that makes great snowballs - too bad there aren't any kids around! This is when I miss my kids being young - they used to kill themselves laughing at my throwing skills. I made a mean snow fort though.
I get my daughter home for Christmas though - I'm about to go make her reservation so she'll be able to spend 2 weeks here. Can't wait. She'll have to be super careful on the flight, but it is a non-stop and she will be tested regularly before leaving in any case (she's in the Army and they are all over that before any travel). I told her to wear her gas mask on the plane, but it might shake up the security people too much!
Tally ho!5 -

Have a lovely Monday!
Yesterday was not a great Monday for me - no workouts besides a walk to the grocery store and 20 min of yoga (a nice session but not a strength-building one or anything). All the Halloween candy was on sale at the store and I am not mentally at the point where I can just walk by a bag of snack size kitkats for $1, so that went into the cart and mostly into my stomach. Oops. I was tempted to even order out for dinner, but I kept my mini goal in mind of not eating out this month. Luckily, work is slow this week, so my plan today is to get in a whole bunch of workouts and also let the sweat distract me from the election. Going to be a hectic day. I need some new music to run to, as well.
Seeing a LOT of green weigh-ins already this week - go team go!! [Not confident I will be in that category by Friday, but cake this weekend was worth it, frankly. )3 -
My apologies for disappearing for a bit. For the last 2 weeks I have been spending large parts of my days nursing the last of our geriatric pets - our 18 year old cat. Sadly she left us yesterday morning so our house is feeling very empty right now. She was such a very gentle part of our family for so many years. In fact my husband and I realized this is the first time in our 36 years of married life we have not got at least one pet in the house. Her brother, a littermate, got sick in May and we said good-bye to him in August so it has been a bit of a ride emotionally these past months. But our lives have been so blessed by the animals sharing our home that it makes the pain of the good-byes endurable.9

@CanadianGiraffe so sorry to hear that! Pets are such a part of the family. Our family cat turned 15 this summer and is starting to show signs of ageing. Virtual hugs to you.2

@CanadianGiraffe so sorry to hear about your cat! pets are truly a special companion, so it's devastating when they pass. Sending hugs your way.3 -
@CanadianGiraffe So Sorry about your cat, what was her name ? Big Hugs to you !0

So sorry to hear about your pet -- it is very hard to lose a family member. We had to put our dog down a couple of months ago. He was only five years old but had a brain tumor and was going blind -- he started to turn on family members and as he was a very big dog, we couldn't take the risk of what he might do. We still think of him every day and know that he is not suffering.

I am falling behind today! I love it when the conversations get going - lots of good thoughts. The beginning of each month has such a good energy. Let's keep it rolling 💖
@CanadianGiraffe
So sorry to hear about your cats. I'm sure they had as wonderful a time living with you as you did with them. It is such a special bond - simple and deep.
@JvalaNavin
You're off to a good start! As you get to navigating around the MFP boards and all - I suggest you make one group your #1 go to group. Ours I hope! Getting to know the people in the team, posting often, and writing out your goals and daily commitments is the way to success. Your teammates' voices end up in your head when you reach for that trigger food, start snacking, or just want to sit on the couch instead of getting that bit of exercise done. You can also help your teammates with encouragement, ideas, etc. It is easy to move from one board to another, addressing all kinds of questions and subjects, but the accountability factor works best when you're in a steady group of people. I hope that works for you!
@Terytha
hmmm. I wonder what the step equivalent of 3628 words is? Did your characters walk a lot? Have difficult climbs or battles? That's a great word count for one day! I'm doing my version of NaNoWriMo- Lite. Mostly just coming up with some ideas, starting an outline, etc. I'm not quite ready for the real thing yet! I am sure you will hit your word goal, though
Back on track! It's a theme these days. Many of you are feeling that right now - the honest food diary, more fibre, lifting weights, caring for yourself. As you know, if it were easy, everyone would be at their perfect weight and in great shape, right? So keep up the good work!
I had my first really snowy walk for the season today. We had around 15 cm (6 inches) of snow, and it was great up in the woods. It isn't enough for snowshoeing yet, and it will all melt when it warms up in a couple of days, but I was happy to get out my winter hiking boots, put on my snow pants and jacket, and get out there to follow deer tracks all over the place. I was a little less happy clearing off my car, and tomorrow morning I'll have to drive down my crazy hill through the stuff (always scarier than coming up!) - but I'll take it. 🥾2 -
HEADS UP!

@coffeetwist - has already started Wednesday ahead of the rest of you! DONE!
