Happy belated birthday, Mandi!🎉🎂🎈 Wishing you all the best. Celebrating with your bestie sounds great.0 -
Gingerbread bread house talk all over the place. Funny. That’s exactly what we did this afternoon. Here is ours. We did not bake it. Just put it together.
Tomorrow’s weigh in will be a surprise. I may not like it because I had some Chinese take out tonight for dinner. Haven’t had any of that in over a year. We shall see.9 -
Hi everyone! Just a quick check in as I'm snowed under with Christmas preparatons today!

A bit disappointed but not that shocked really - December is tough for weight loss!
@micki48 Wow, what a BEAUT of a gingerbread house! Love it, especially the wreath and the little people!4 -
Woo hoo! It is Saturday. I hope you're all feeling OK after missing a dose of my daily nagging Here it is a bit late - but better than never, right?

I am having a great time with my daughter home - taking full advantage of all the time to take walks, hang about, talk talk talk, and eat all her favourite foods that she can't get in small town Alberta. Last night was salmon tartare - take-out from one of the great local restaurants that is somehow hanging on through the pandemic - and tonight will be homemade pizza. I'm sure I'll be back on the regular team for January! Maintenance is slowly falling out the window.
Have a gorgeous day with oreo/gingerbread houses or whatever is your jam for the day5 -

@jugar sorry for the late response. I'd like to skip my weigh in this week. Lots of fluid retention. My BP is elevated. I've got a date with a gallon of water today and a bathroom lololol.4

Love all the photos and stories and gatherings! Terrible temptations abound and I've caved....I must work on not caving BIG and just caving small and enjoying a little treat.
Starting out every day great....devolves from there. Think I'll aim for a perfect day today - will report back in before bed tonight. Most all the shoveling out done but a path to the shed with the freezer and the compost pile would be helpful - will burn some calories with that and THEN on this gorgeous blue sky, still white snow, I'll don my snowshoes and at least tromp around our woods. Have a great Saturday!3 -

Less steps this week for sure, but it's down a little so I'll take that as a win. Have a great day. I'll check back in later.
@jugar Enjoy your daughter. How wonderful to have her home.
@eggfreak Have fun tromping!
@CurvyCalorie Great stepping this week.
@conleywoods Be sure and post those lovely gingerbread houses. Have fun!!!
I made a baked good yesterday that is called "Kirsten's Amazing Dessert" after the person I got the recipe from, not my daughter. Last time I made it was years ago. I had three copies of the recipe and all the ingredients and it came calling my name. So, yesterday I made it. Wowee! My taste has surely changed. It was so sweet it was almost overwhelming. I can't imagine eating more than just a tiny piece. A few years ago, it would have been a lot more tempting. It is still delicious, but not as much my preference any more. I guess that's a NSV.
Everyone else. Hang in there. This month is certainly a challenge for most people. Do what you can to make good choices every chance you can. We've got this. And we don't have to be perfect to keep moving forward.6 -
@yinxfed glad to hear your doggy is doing better and hope you enjoyed the day with your Mom ♥️
@micki48 I love the gingerbread house! Such a fun activity and tempting to not eat all the candies! Can’t wait to see the pictures from @conleywoods !2 -

I'm starting to get used to the mellow schedule with plenty of time just talking. I have missed this! DH is lovely, but long conversations don't make an important part of our days usually - my daughter and I are having a blast solving all kinds of life problems, figuring out how the world should be run, and laughing over all sorts of silly stuff.
I'm serious about our week 5 project. Right now is an extended "free day" for many, so really setting a time and method to getting back on track afterwards will be helpful so that disappointment and self-sabotage does not set in. If you have some great planning resources, save them up and we'll put our heads together so that everyone comes out with a wonderful January plan. Not resolutions, but actions. Looking forward to it! But enjoying some loose time too...5 -

Its been so busy and I haven't planned meals like I should and the baby is sleeping differently so there's been a lot of ordering out and sleepiness. I've learned that I have to at least plan dinner or I will go over my calories and my budget.
So... Tired... Zzz5 -

Today went well. Food was on target with a decent amount of vegetables and protein. Drank lots of water. Did an hour of ballet and then went for a walk with the kids and the dogs. I even squeezed in some knitting.
I made all the icing for the gingerbread houses and assembled all 7 of the houses for our party tomorrow. The kids made a chart to keep track of all the pieces we had to bake. I just need to come up with a healthy dinner idea for the gingerbread party.
@micki48 @steph1498 and @happimess01 Great job on your weigh ins this week.
@jugar Glad you are getting all your gabbing in with your daughter.
@eggfreak Also jealous of your snow and snowshoeing. The wind came and blew our snow away 😑. Hope you had fun!
Off to bed, I am tired but it's the good kind of tired from being busy and productive all day 😴 Have a great weekend!8 -

I didn't check in last night as promised but can report this morning that yesterday went fine - no binges and plenty of exercise shoveling and a few laps with my snowshoes - loved it - I've hardly used them in the past but if this winter gives us snow, it'll be a snowshoeing winter.
@conleywoods I want to be at YOUR house for the gingerbread making party - that looks like fun! Please post the after photo of that lovely little neighborhood.4 -

Hello everyone!
Looking at my stats for my steps and exercise over the last week, I notice that I only exercised on three days - not entirely sure why. I do know that towards the end of the week I was a little bit stressed, which always manifests itself as broken sleep or extreme fatigue. Not conducive to exercise! Anyway, here are the stats:
13th December - 4704 steps
14th December - 5242 steps & 35 mins Chest & Back Strength workout
15th December - 5072 steps & 51 mins Intense Low Impact HIIT workout
16th December - 6579 steps & 30 mins General Aerobics
17th December - 3727 steps
18th December - 7845 steps
19th December - 3399 steps
This coming week my workouts will be HIIT circuits, yoga and dance.
The UK is currently reeling from the announcement that our prime minister gave yesterday which quite severely curtailed a lot of our Christmas plans due to C-19. This means that we will no longer be able to have my mother with us for Christmas. To be fair, she had already second guessed the way the wind was blowing and had called us to suggest that it might be safer for all concerned if she just stayed home. "It's just one day, Yinka. I'll be fine". And she will, she's a very fit and active 80 year old African woman who hates fuss!
But I wanted her with us - so I'm sad.
Anyway, enough of that! I've done some boring work chores today - paid our accountant, paid some tax and made sure that my calender's up to date. Now I'm warming cookies and about to watch a Christmas movie.
Stay safe, friends!5 -
@conleywoods Wow! You need a "Mom of the year" award. I LOVE your gingerbread houses and look forward to the finished town. What a wonderful family activity and tradition.
@jugar How wonderful to have the chance to solve all the world's problems with your daughter. I know what you mean about deep talks with hubby. We are usually fairly good at it, but after 10 months with each other, sometimes we are kinda sick of each other's voices. LOL. I just facetimed with my daughter for about an hour going over our shopping lists. Not solving world problems, but still necessary.
Also, I love the idea of an "extended free day" and a regrouping for week 5. I am taking every minute as an opportunity to make a good choice and forgive myself for the indulgences.
To everyone wishing my hip well, it is doing better as I have given it a rest. Nothing serious, most likely inflammation from something and pressing on a nerve. So fun, this getting older thing.Sunday weigh in:
PW - 185.3
CW - 184.5
More later, but meanwhile, Happy Sunday, Friends!
Yay!!!! Way to go. Losses in December rule!!! I'm so sorry to hear that you can't spend Christmas with your Ma. I know it is disappointing. I wish people took this more seriously here in the US. Many people, especially where I live, are acting as if nothing is going on. Meanwhile, we have 3,000+ deaths of fellow Americans every day. It's so sad. So selfish. I ran to do a no contact errand yesterday and the shopping center near us was PACKED with people shopping. Makes me sad and mad that I have essentially been on "house arrest" while others act like nothing is going on. Sorry for the rant.
Back to my point. My heart goes out to you Yinka. I understand. But, better to have her with you shortly than risk her or anyone's health now. I have not seen my son for months. We are hoping for a visit in our backyard with masks and distance to exchange gifts and visit for a little bit. Seems so weird not to have my whole family cozy, relaxing in my home. But, I'd rather we all be here next year.
Get those steps in everyone!!!
Take care everyone. Check in even if your day isn't perfect. Just stopping by may give you some strength.4 -

I blame Rum Chata. They released a peppermint bark flavored one for the holidays and I enjoyed a few glasses last night. Unfortunately, alcohol makes me bloat.
We're saving the red velvet cupcake flavored Bailey's for Christmas eve, but I'm betting its unfairly delicious also. =P
We're under a snowstorm watch, they're expecting up to 50 cm! That's nearly 2 feet. It'll be a white Christmas this year and then some. But it'll be warm, so I'm hoping I can get a snowball fight started.4 -
The Green Challenge Percentage of people who lost weight this week. No matter how small the loss the weights are recorded in green. Remember that even if your team doesn’t rank the highest in weight loss for the week you can still be the Green Percentage winner by having the most losses in your team! So keep it up!!0

I will catch up on posts today. 😊4 -
Thank you for the birthday wishes. 34 isnt so bad ❤ my mom got me some cute winter boots that I got to test out Friday night when I took my son to the zoo lights. They kept my feet toasty warm AND were very comfortable to walk in, so now I really have no excuse not to go walking even when its cold/snowy.
@evelynladams527 I love your snowman comic, lol
@Terytha I want to do an oreo gingerbread house with my son, but they are sold out everywhere 😭
@micki48 lovely gingerbread house
@jugar sounds like you are having a lovely (and delicious) time with your daughter home!

@MissMeaganLyn how old is your baby? My son is nearly 11 now, but I remember having such difficulty controlling my weight when he was small. Make sure to show yourself some grace, you've got this!!
@YinxFed I am sorry you cant be with your mom for Christmas, but hopefully you all will stay healthy and be able to see each other soon. This Christmas will look different for so many families.

Stay safe, friends!
I can hear your mother's voice coming through the phone diguised as my older daughter, Emily. Although she's in northern Vermont and we're in the South-eastern side of the state, she said she's planning to stay home because of the likelihood of big winds beginning Christmas Eve. The road from there to here is mountainous and tends to get a lot of black ice so, I don't blame her.
I just recall that over a person's average lifespan, we celebrate Christmas (or other seasonal holidays) say 80+ years, if healthy. There may be some long-term-habits we've woven into that tradition but really, each celebration is different. Every one. When I think of it that way, I usually feel motivated to make this year one we can remember fondly. It's up to me to facilitate the celebration so, I'll take it on, including the hiking and snow-shoeing!
I decided to try again on the gingerbread house idea. My attempt the other day is pretty pitiful. As soon as Monica said, "nailed it", I figured she was seriously kidding me. Now, I'm going to make a slightly smaller house with windows cut out (and melted candy within), and who knows...maybe I'll spray paint it gold so I won't be tempted to eat it!
Have a great evening, everyone.
Lessons & Carols tonight - via Zoom - I really enjoy having the chance to hear good music in the comfort of my home. That's one aspect that I'm not going to like once things "get back to normal". Driving time for pretty much everywhere is 30 minutes or more. Onward!

We made our house! The decorations immediately got silly.
