Happy Sunday. Tomorrow, I do not have to go to work..but I have to take my car in at 7am for maintenance! What was I thinking???
Today was ok. I did a new workout on Beachbody. I am in a Facebook group for it, which I am finding motivational. It was a lot of squats/lunges so I decided to do a 10 min yoga afterwards, which I don't regularly do, but I think I will start to do it more. I also did a short meditation on there and I really liked that so I am going to add that. I also started Journaling. I am determined to get out of this funk.
As for those who won't see your family, my heart goes out to you. We will not have a large family gathering, but we will have my (divorced) over at separate times. My brothers will visit with my parents separately. We have very strict rules here. For awhile, they only allowed 75 people into stores at a time. That meant waiting outside in the cold for an hour to get inside stores. I mostly do picks up from Target and the grocery store, but I do go to Costco every 2 weeks. I have had several nurse friends get the vaccine. Hopefully, this will all end soon.6 -
We had our gingerbread house party this evening! We had a great time and we had 3 ribbons to compete for. The categories this year were "Best in Show", "Santa's Choice " and "The Great Pile Up". My mother in law definitely won "The Great Pile Up"! She denied it and food scale were brought in to confirm her house out weighed the other house by nearly a pound 😂
I watched my food during the day. But... I'm a good mother and sampled all the candy to make sure it was all safe for little children to eat🤭😉😌 It's all fine...I checked twice. LOL anyways the scale will say what it's gonna say.9 -
Sunday rolling to a close here - and tomorrow is the winter solstice. I am looking forward to the yearly celebration of this solstice that I always do with a very small group of friends outdoors, with a fire in a special forest spot surrounded by four ancient maples. We use the longest night of the year to talk over what we are leaving behind and what we hope is to come. We are getting older now, and this has become a special night. One of these women is the midwife who was with me through my daughter's birth (at home), one is a writer and my best friend, and one is an amazing person who became a medical doctor in her mid forties and just recently retired. I am always glad to have this special night with them, and hope that we still have many more years to enjoy each other's company. Walking through the woods in the snow together on this long night is something special. I wish you all such a lovely and peaceful solstice!
Please check out and share some of your favourite writing with this week's "challenge" - to sit down and read something, take care of yourselves, and relax with some beautiful words.

Your daughter is so much your mini-me! Wow. Adorable all 3, and gorgeous gingerbread houses. It is too funny that your MIL's house outweighed the others! But it is certainly a good thing that there was such an excellent person on quality control for the entire event4 -
Well I am just realizing I totally forgot to post my weight on Friday.. I am so sorry I’m late to the game this week.. I have been doing all the Christmas things and it slipped my mind..

Happy Monday, Looks like you had a great weekend, absolutely love the gingerbread/Oreo houses...
We bought the kits to make houses, and Hershey trains, but we didn't do it on Saturday as planned. We will do it soon... Saturday, my oldest son and myself decided to have some champagne and make fudge, so we made 3 kinds of fudge, and then we made buckeyes, but we had some candy from the fudge leftover, so we have about 5 different kinds of candy made with buckeye ingredients, the one I created was I took a marshmallow cut it in half, put the peanut butter mixture in the middle, then dipped the whole thing in chocolate, then dusted crushed graham crackers on it.. so it's like a peanut butter smores... LOL , it's very yummy...
Then we made sugar cookies, and decorated them...
I did not eat well, or exercise this weekend at all, and I am fine with it. My son got home last night pretty late, then I got up early to go to work, so I haven't talked to him, but I know he's there, and that makes me happy !
My job interview went great on Friday, and I am very excited. I should find out this week if I got it, and he is fine with me not starting till sometime in Jan. Where I work now, I am the only person in the office who does payroll, etc, so it would be best if I could give him time to replace me..
I got up and exercised this morning, packed my lunch, and I'll be honest, I am over chocolate and sugar for the time being, I'm actually thinking about a huge plate of roasted veggies for dinner...
Have a great day !8 -

No change, which is fine with me since I took a break for half the week. Happy Monday everyone.5 -

Happy Monday everyone!
@jugar I love the way you're celebrating the winter solstice with your friends.
@Terytha and @conleywoods you're both gingerbread house queens - bravo!4 -
Live all the Gingerbread houses! The kids made theirs on Saturday. It was a store bought kit. I made additional icing though.
For my first day of winter break, I got up 5 to take my car in for maintenance and a recall. I redid 3 outdoor wreaths and added ornaments to the outdoor tree. I did the second day of my new workout program and I did not love it. It was basically a cardio core so I will probably something I like next week. My Aunt is on her way to drop off gifts for the kids and then hopefully my car will be ready. Hope you all are having a fabulous Monday!2 -
Just dropping in to say HI 👋🏼
@jugar I love your solstice celebration. Sounds wonderful. And those gingerbread houses 🥇 were awesome.
So glad everyone is having fun, seeing their kids, getting all things Christmas done.
Same here. Tomorrow is my last babysitting day for a week. I’ll still see her but no alarm clock going off. My son and his girlfriend come up Wednesday for a pandemic Christmas in the backyard. Trying to think of ways to make it festive.
Food was fine until dinner and had a large portion of a calzone. It will be fine though.
Yesterday I found some cool trackers for next year and things to help me get fully back in the game and lose not just maintain. But being steady for a year is not terrible. Just shows me I need to commit more.3 -

I am majorly slacking on steps lately. But at least I am back on track with calories.5 -
Thank you for all the sweet comments on the gingerbread houses! I loved seeing everyone else's too! So much fun 🤩❤😄
I am really off track and ended up eating way too many calories today and yesterday. The scale sure let me have it this morning. Going to try and cool it with the food for now and enjoy Christmas day! I have been journaling, reading and planning for next years goals and action plan. Tonight I made a vision board and put it up next to my makeup mirror. I got my new planner, habit tracker, meal organizer and goal planning journal. I'm still waiting for my wellness journal to come. I like what I got so far. The planner arrived soaking wet unfortunately so I am working with customer service. It's drying out okay and may not need to be replaced. Went for a walk today but it isn't very nice here.
@jugar love your winter solstice party! Were you able to see Jupiter and Saturn? We were able to see it between clouds ☁️. It was amazing!
@KellyBgetsfit Bummer you aren't feeling the new workout program. Good for you for trying something new!
@MandiSaysHey Great weigh in after your logging break!
@Gidgitgoescrazy Glad you are feeling good about the job and you have the kids home!
@micki48 Glad you will get together with your son ❤
@YinxFed Bummer you will be missing your mom. Hopefully you will be able to get together in the near future 🙏4 -
Hey everyone
@conleywoods Absolutely loving those gingerbread houses, wow! You have a little workshop going on there
I haven't been on here for a few days as we've been dealing with the horrible news that our Christmas is basically cancelled. We live miles away from family so can't travel to visit anyone, so it will just be me and fiance at home, which we will try to make nice and cosy but will be very different. We haven't done any prep for this so have no food in or anything... and now heard that people are starting to panic buy again... it's not a great situation here in the UK at the moment!
I was proud of myself for getting to the gym and eating well yesterday though, despite that, and I think it actually helped my mental health too! I will try to keep going to the gym over the Christmas period if/ when it's open- I think it will keep me sane!6 -
Morning all from UK.
Sorry I'm late, again 🤦

Thank you ❤️7 -
Kids asked what we were doing Christmas morning and what time should they be over, ( My oldest is house sitting) and when I told them we were running a 5k, they all laughed... My daughter said that was the best joke she'd heard all year, so my son said, yeah she isn't joking, but he said he'd be at the finish line with a glass of cold champagne waiting for me... and my youngest volunteered to stay home and make breakfast... My poor daughter couldn't get her mouth closed to say anything else, I think she was in shock...
We are having a small get together for Christmas in the afternoon, and everyone has lived in a bubble to make it happen, so it should be a fun day ! I think I will save the gingerbread houses to do then... I bought plenty they were buy one, get one free... After today, I am off for 6 days, then work 2, then off for 4...6 -
Happy Tuesday, Friends!
Today's already been a lot more productive than I had planned for - hubby decided, on a whim, to go down to the tip and take all of our broken cardboard boxes. Doesn't sound like much, does it? Well in our house we are blessed to have a surplus of space. And in our old kitchen (we have now extended) we just dump all of the empty boxes that were used for various deliveries. It seems that over the past year or so we have collected a huge amount. So much so that we filled the boot and the back passenger seats of our car with loads of flattened boxes and we still have more to go!
Anyway, pre-Christmas clear out done, and I'm pleased.
Also, it occurred to me that after 27 years together, this will be the first Christmas when it will be just the two of us over Christmas - me and hubby! Something lovely and romantic to look forward to in the midst of the current Christmas mess.
As it's Christmas week, I have decided to have an evening treat each night - a lovely warming glass of mulled wine. Just the one - and it's lovely!
Enjoy the rest of your day!6 -
Wow, did I miss a lot!! Feels like some of the most active (and festive) chat we've had since I joined! Love all the gingerbread houses.
Happy late birthday to @MandiSaysHey and good luck moving forward in the interview process @Gidgitgoescrazy !! (My current firm is absolutely interview-happy; I think I had about 11 interviews total before I got the job...)
Love the snow pics, too! I'm in Boston and a friend drove up from DC on Wednesday for us to leave Thursday morning for Vermont to ski - WHAT TIMING! Our trip Thursday (left at 6:45am) was intense with the storm, but man did we earn that powder on the slopes! It was really awesome boarding conditions, and luckily skiing/snowboarding definitely burns calories. I finally weighed in yesterday morning and there is definitely some bloat, but gonna work to bring that back down for my Christmas morning weigh-in.
I am starting to feel sad that I will be spending Christmas totally alone but my whole family is going to stay rather scattered. My 87-yr-old grandma will be at my parents' house with my two youngest siblings, but the eldest 3 (myself included) are staying firmly several states away. We are going to do some zooms and we have all been on top of shipping gifts near and far... but it will be weird. I do plan to make arancini (italian rice balls), since it has become my traditional part of the family dinner, and I love them. Not sure what kind of one-woman protein I want, but there will be wine involved!
@micki48 thanks for the reminder about me not weighing in this past week! I am totally delinquent, but here are my steps as well:

All right, everyone - it is so good to hear how you all are getting through your celebrations during this most bizarre of years, some alone, some with just your significant other, some outdoors making it all work however possible. I love @YinxFed 's mom saying that it is just a day. We can be together on a different one and enjoy the company then. I'm glad that most of us will have at least a bit of company, though, and hope that all of us stay well and be able to enjoy.
I had a great time at our solstice celebration last night - the night was super dark, the fire was bright, and the air not too cold, the snow not too deep. We had a great time talking next to the fire as the dogs chewed on some bones they found. It was wonderful. But I came home with 3 different batches of amazing cookies! I am thoroughly enjoying all the baked goods and extra eating, but also seriously looking forward to our planning week and getting back on top of things right after that. The collection of planners, journals, trackers, and calendars will all be put to use!
Enjoy the beginning of winter, or summer if @coffeetwist is still with us! I sure hope so...
Well done @ells_runs - that was an excellent weigh-in, and I'm so glad you dropped in. and @Kali225 those are some impressive steps! It is too bad you will be alone for Christmas, but it sounds like your family are working things out with great wisdom.5 -
I am drinking beer and eating pizza. Tomorrow's weigh in not looking good.6

Hi friends! Well, I worked outside getting ready for our backyard Christmas celebration tomorrow feeling a bit like Martha Stewart finally coming to terms with this adjustment to our "normal" Christmas.
Then, at dinner time, my son in law called from his car in our driveway to say that his Covid test was positive. We have been together every day and eat together every day. Plus, we watch the baby who is with him all the time. The nurse we spoke to said, enjoy your dinner, the damage is done. We have to get tested tomorrow. But, worse, now I can't even see my son and his gf in the yard. It's so hard to be separated for so long. I miss him so so much. We will zoom each day. He now wants to make sure that we are ok. My SIL seems fine, but may have mild symptoms he mistook for something else. I know we are all dealing with this strange, pandemic Christmas, and we still have much to be grateful for. I am feeling fine, but after hearing the news of his positive, felt terrible. Stress and anxiety has a terrible way of feigning all sorts of terrible things. I'm sure we'll be fine, but if you are so inclined, keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Talk to you later. M

Happy Tuesday 😊
Sending hugs to everyone who is canceling plans due to the pandemic or spending time alone for Christmas. Hope you all are well and safe.
Today I made a serious effort to have a perfect day. It went great and I am really pleased with my food choices today. I also did an hour of ballet and 15 minutes of stretching. We drove around and looked at Christmas lights tonight, so fun!
I got out my new goal planning journal and worked in that for a bit. I think I have my big goal worked out and about 6 supporting goals. Now I just need to research some details and figure out which ones to start now and which ones to postpone and phase in later.
I can't believe it's almost Christmas!5 -
Ohh @micki48, that's definitely not the news you wanted to hear. Thoughts are with you.
@KellyBgetsfit, I'm in the dark in my living room after my evening shift eating lots of cheese and crackers with my glass of wine so I don't wake up hubby in the other room. Cheers to Wednesday weigh-ins! I'll see you there. 😉

@Gidgitgoescrazy sounds like a lovely way to spend the day with your family!
@YinxFed way to have a positive outlook on this goofy year. I love that you will spend the holiday just enjoying being with your hubby.
@jugar what a blessing to enjoy the night with such great friends
@KellyBgetsfit nothing wrong with pizza and beer every once in a while!3
