@jugar so sorry to hear about your loss. Our pets become a part of the family and it's terrible when we have to say goodbye. You and your daughter are in my thoughts.1

Hi all!! Got a lot of steps on today with a nice walk. Not much cardio though. I come to realize I’m really not doing much to lose weight and so I’m not. I am maintaining, more or less, and looking for motivation to really have a workout, but I just don’t want to. I am getting steps and walks. But I’m not fighting with myself. I’m listening. I’ll get there, but I’m honoring what I’m feeling (or not).
Really looking forward to our zoom meet up on Saturday.4 -

Today was a good day 😌 Checked all the boxes and I am doing better at getting fresh food on the menu 😋. I am really making an effort to stay in my calories and not eat my exercise calories. Worked out today for an hour while each of my 3 children took turns coming in and talking my ear off. They then let me know I was 9 minutes late to put them to bed! Ha! Do any of you do elf on the shelf with your kids? I think they're in a hurry to get to bed and see what the elves have done the next morning. Hopefully my scale will be down tomorrow. I hope so because I feel like my effort has been good.8

@jugar - so sorry to read about your horse. What a lovely connection you all shared with him. ❤️ ♥️ 💜
@Gidgitgoescrazy - good luck with the job!
I am going to make it to the Zoom call as well it will be nice to see everyone “in person”!4 -
@conleywoods We have had our elf “Criddle” for the last few years and he has been into a lot of mischief...
My kids (now 11 & 12) love him. Just last Christmas they figured out that he had a little help from me. Now this year they take turns hiding him each night and trying to find him in the morning. I’m happy that I don’t have to dream up new tricks every day and they still enjoy the “magic”.5 -
@conleywoods I don't really "get" elf on the shelf (don't have kids though) but if it gets kids to want to go to bed I'm beginning to see the appeal for parents haha!
Not much to report today really. Another day of working (from home) supporting young adults over the phone with getting into education/ employment... this will become more of an issue post-pandemic I think, so I think I'll be extra busy over the next year or so.
Yesterday I baked a delicious ginger cake for my partner and friends.. I had one small piece but I was pretty good with resisting! Didn't get to the gym but had a walk. All fairly average right now, but not much to complain about either5 -

I love the elf’s!! My kids are 11 and 12 as well and no longer believe. However we are building a home so we’re staying with family until it’s done. They have a 6 year old daughter who does still believe, so my kids do different things with the elf every night and now us parents don’t have to worry about it 🤣 they are “wall climbing” this morning

Yesterday wasn't good, I snacked, ya see I made Chex mix over the weekend... I thought I could show some self control, I can not ! I thought about fasting today and tomorrow or cutting calories way back, but thats just silly... I will just do better...
I did get up and exercise this morning, and plan on doing some walks today... and my food is planned, so cross your fingers for a successful day !
I don't even need to be successful in losing weight, I just want to be successful in not gaining any ! lol
I am not going to be available for the zoom on Saturday, I have am going to visit a friend, so I won't be around.. But definitely next time...7 -
@Gidgitgoescrazy I can totally relate - As much as I want to lose weight, right now the goal is not to gain weight.5

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm slowly gaining my motivation back after my cup was completely empty the last few weeks, and wreaked a bit of havoc on my mental health. My cup is probably now only at about 20% full and while I would like to get back into regular meal logging again, I think I need to get it more full before I start that commitment again. In the meantime, I'm just trying to keep my meals as clean as possible, but not being overly strict as well.9 -

@jugar you're crazying up my days, ha ha! Today is Wednesday (right? am I nuts?)...Team Waistaways Zoom will be on Saturday 3pm Eastern Standard time. I promise to post the link again Saturday morning so nobody has to try and track back through the thread. Like Liselyn says if you want to click on it in the meantime to see how it works, it won't hurt, will just bring you to the date & time of meeting. I will reconfirm the password on Saturday also.
My eating is much better when it's my week in the office - brought all my lunches and snacks for the week since nobody is really using the breakroom fridge. When I got home I sampled some liver pate I'd made but stuck to just a sample and went for a walk then strung some lights. We'll see what the scale reads tomorrow. I don't mind if it's even and would be surprised if there isn't a little gain. Now to bed before I reach for a snack.
I am the Empress of Crazying Up Everyone's Day. Never ask a retired person who does not even leave the property for days on end to keep track of days! You are right. It is SATURDAY for Zooming. Sheesh. Someone ought to remind me to look at my calendar sometimes...5 -
So folks - things are looking realistic and positive on our thread today. Sometimes "not gaining" is a great goal - I have always said that the plateau is our friend, and sometimes we can just decide to have one. It is a chance for the body to get used to where you are, and then it will be easier to whittle off some calories in and increase the calories out a bit to set the losing going again when you feel ready. I am on a short logging strike for a while - the minute my weight goes any closer to the top of my goal range I log again. Make sure to define a cut off for where you start having more discipline and the plateau is a fantastic vacation.
I am doing lots of walking but not much else for the past few days, a bit of exercise bike to break a sweat, but no strength work and lots of quiet time. Our sauna is back in operation, and the sweat bath ritual feels very good. Winter is my favourite time for sauna - the liberation of going outside in the freezing temperatures wearing nothing but a pair of boots is fabulous. You never saw so much steam flying off the skin! It is a blast. Can't wait for it to be really, really cold
Keep well, everyone I'll be back later to nag for weigh-ins...7 -

@conleywoods Kristi!! Yay! Your hard work has paid off. Way to go. I know you've been frustrated for a bit. I'm sure this feels great. Keep it up!1

@conleywoods Ditto! Congratulations, Kristi that must feel so good. You have worked so hard. Proud of you.
Looks like everyone is doing pretty well. Looking forward to our zoom on Saturday. I am in the same mind of just don’t gain weight. I’ll happily take a loss, but realistically just want to hold through December. Although, interestingly, I feel more focused this month. Not restrictive though.
I did make these amazing cookies today. Fun to make. Peanut butter cookie, but like a pillow cookie with a Reese’s peanut butter cup in the middle. Then drizzled with chocolate peanut butter. These don’t tempt me as much as my chocolate chip cookies. Those are definitely my signature cookie.
I’m almost at my 9k steps so gotta move. I did get my weekly 150 minutes of activity today. Yay!
Food has been ok. And under calories for 3 days.
@jugar Your winter sauna jaunts sound fun.3
