I vaguely recall hearing it somewhere before.... Ms Tea sure brings up interesting language skills to the table  I'm learning. Shows you that the "new kids" are not always the ones who are evolving the mother tongue: I wonder how that works!?!?! hmm....

I had a hungry person turkey dinner  with an extra 200g of peas and carrots... for lunch.

I was yelled at for not sharing. And HUFFED UPON. And stared down. And was attempted to be herded into submission.

I answered to the best of my ability that I don't recall anyone sharing a bone or dead mouse with me. Not even a token sharing of a found tennis ball! And I don't see where it would be to MY benefit to share. i.e. what's in it for me failed to materialize or to be presented in an acceptable package.

My arguments fell on deaf ears, so I guess I still caved and did a half slice of white bread dipped in the turkey gravy.

Plain fudgecicles are 80 Cal each. and some of the fruit ice stuff are like 70. That's all I've got!

Chicken thigh (meat only), grilled with a dry BBQ seasoning. Tiny baby yellow potatoes roasted in the air fryer and a little salad of shredded romaine with Parmesan and light balsamic dressing.

Anyone try fresh or canned jackfruit, in brine or water. Considering next to explore after someone shared on volume eater discussion in forums.

have jack fruit in freezer from bought 10 * 300g packs for $1.00 -- in TOTAL, not each! when they were about to expire in a week and they appeared to have thousands!

Advertised as "meaty" .... first attempt to eat in a stir fry..... wasn't very meaty! So in the freezer they all went!

Attempt #2 awaiting encouragement from an Adventurista!

And I agree @PAV8888, this mutt has stared me down for a hunk of my pork burger tonight, but never offers me any of her biccies …. Sometimes will give me a soggy sock!

I miss a ginger beer here!

Apparently your canine companion is not into sharing her cookies or rather biscuits!!!!!😎

I admit that it's a common failure with the species! 🤯

So today I was inspired by PAV’s man cold adventures in Costco. The $1.50 hot dog, sugar free lemonade and a sprinkle of mustard and relish.
    afxb9q33d2ms.jpeg
A ridiculous 600 calories! Almost half my allotment for the day. Hubby and son loved it.

However I found it strangely unsatisfying and was hungry an hour later. I’m over it and pretty sure I’ll never get another hot dog 🌭 there.

Hmmmm……perhaps I needed the giant ice cream cone?

Costco hot dog alone lists at 580 calories naked. Ten calories for the lemonade and 20ish for mustard and relish. But it was underwhelming! Calories wasted on nutritionally sub par food.

There’s a local sub shop that makes a terrific 6” roast beef sandwich with great fresh bread, mustard, lettuce and tomato for about 375 calories.

Lol. I cooked the onions and mushrooms in chicken bone brother with garlic and thyme and let them Sautee a bit once the fluid cooked off, then quick seared the steak portion to rare in the same pan, 2 minutes per side.

    Drooling!

You realize Costco dog & pop are about the only thing impervious to inflation? It was cited as holding its price the last 3 yrs, but actually it's still the same price as the '80s... :D

Tonight is chicken Alfredo. I'll skip the pasta but do my portion of chicken with mushrooms and broccoli and a half serving of commercial garlic Alfredo and some chicken bone broth all simmered together for sauce.

Are you doing a low carb or keto type approach @nicsflyingcircus ?

Also had been wondering if you are using a bone broth for any particular reason as well?
--I heard recently a cuppa or 2 a day might help with pain, but i mainly make it at home for no added sodium. The savings are nice but the work to make is a bit long but can better control ingredients. Use a lot for soups, stews, sauces.

    xp1tuoeuugeh.jpg
My last batch of gathered bones for stock making yielded 3 gallons (12 qts, frozen in 3c per bag), used 4 sweet onions 0.71c USD each, lb carrots at $1, 8 bell peppers at 0.25c each in lieu of 12 quart boxes currently at $5/box.

Would be same reason for homegrown veggies... after the laff....

Excess tomatoes i intend to dry, pulse, sift out seeds, pulverize, store the powder to use as flavor intensifier.

Can’t grow a tomato or much of anything else here but cactus. 100+ temps and poor soil. And then there’s the need to water at least twice a day to keep them going. We tried gardening when we first moved to Texas but it was a back breaker. Amending soil required digging up rocks from the alkaline dirt, bags of topsoil and organic fertilizers. Even tropical fruits won’t grow from lack of rain and alkinity. What grew tended to be bitter from the soil or eaten by very thirsty critters. It’s the land of longhorn cows, cacti, and cotton.

So off to the grocery store for food grown in gentler climates…….

I thought there exist edible cacti.... ?

Your department of agriculture (with PAV-almost AI editing of frequent mentions of cattle and cattle by products) seems to be proud of agriculture in Texas!

In addition to ruminants, ruminant by products, ruminant inputs, and ruminant outputs, your department of agriculture also mentions: cotton, vegetables, citrus, corn, wheat, peanuts, pecans, sorghum and rice!

*ruminants can include: cattle, sheep, goats, horses all of which seem to be in abundance.

@Adventurista I had a gastric sleeve in November, so while I am in the weight loss phase I am actually low carb and lowish fat too.

Yup PAV - all that but not central Texas. It’s a BIG state! East is wetter, south is more tropical, north a bit colder - but central is rocky soil. A big industry here is gravel production from the rocks! So yes much agricultural diversity just not in my backyard.
    Cacti are edible. i3i48ecbgkbe.jpeg
You take the paddles, remove the nasty spines by hand and then slice and cook. Cactus - nopalitos - tastes a lot like green beans. I prefer to buy them ready to go in a jar at the grocery store. The red fruits called tunas are sweet and often used to make jelly.

I discussed gastric sleeve surgery with my doc when I was 50ish. I chickened out. I still wonder if I should have tried it and given myself 20 better years.

Yoolypr giving myself better years is what finally drove me to make the final decision. I was nearing my mid 40s, my husband and I want to have an active older life, traveling and such. Also, as a nurse I see so many unfit and deconditioned middle aged to older people and how it contributes to injury and poor recovery.

So I made my first meal on the George Foreman grill last night. Had a... salad?.... bowl?... with mixed greens, grilled sweet potato, sautéed zucchini, avocado, grilled salmon, feta, and balsamic vinegarette.

Tonight I am making chicken parmesan, not breaded or fried and topped with some spinach, and spaghetti. May also steam some frozen broccoli but we will see how hungry I am.

Nic the amount of complications always scared me and I'm also a rebel without a clue so never sure how I will react if I have something perceived to be imposed. Will I work with or against the imposition even if I know what I should do

Yeah, Pav, it took me a year after I first saw the bariatric surgeon to have the surgery because I had to really think on it
