Jean - maybe the moral to the story is no one should travel throughout the school!

We woke up to another inch or so of snow. Post office did not deliver packages yesterday even though our street, sidewalk and stairs were all clear. Their online message says "no access". However, they were able to deliver today with the street still covered inn an inch or so of snow and before DH shoveled. Go figure!

Three weeks till March! (not that I'm counting or anything)

My best travelled ebay package so far started in Missouri, went to GUAM!!!, and is now in Honolulu. Daggone it, my packages are better travelled than I am!

Cross one Optavia meal off my list. I did not enjoy the spinach pesto mac n cheese. Sounded good right? Lots of protein. Tasted terrible. I throw all the extras I have of things I discover I don't like into a tote for a friend to try. Her financial resources are limited and her weight loss needs great. I bought her a microwave so she can try some of these things. Not everyone's taste is the same.

Today's a NS day. Sticking with the plan so far. I've got to admit I'm not really a fan of either the preparation method or the taste of NS oatmeal. I guess I just shouldn't order it (duh). LOL!

I boil the water for the oatmeal and pour it in the cup. The recommended microwave method tends to boil over and make a mess. I just cover the oatmeal cup and let the water do it’s work. It has to sit a bit longer but I don’t end up with all that clean up. I like adding raisins and nuts for more texture.

So it's okay made with water? I guess I just sort of assumed that even though they said milk or water it would taste even worse with water. I should give it a try! Of course that lowers the protein even more. Hmm.....

Two of my 3 siblings - all younger than I am - have had their first shot. Not sure about my baby brother as we rarely hear from him.

I put my instant oatmeal into a Systema cup with a lid that snaps tight but has a place to raise for steam to vent. I use water with the Quacker or Great Value, nuke it and eat it from the cup. Just one item to wash other than spoon.

I am scheduled for my second Moderna vaccination this Friday. Hopefully the weather permits.

I add a splash of milk to my oatmeal once it’s cooked just because I like it that day. Visited the chiropractor today and picked up library books which were on hold for me. I have the new Lee Child book. Last week, I read the most recent Amos Decker book.

Cool! I'm trying to catch up on my favorite authors now that my mind seems to be able to handle more than what I consider "fluff" and Child and Baldacci are definitely on the list. I was holding an Alex Cross (James Patterson) book because I thought there would be a sequel but then the next book came out and it wasn't a sequel so I read both of those. Now since a new Alex Delaware (Jonathan Kellerman) just came out I'm reading the last one of those. I went through my Kindle and where I have more than one of a series in a queue I got on amazon and identified what order I should be reading them in. Also checked my paper books to see if I am sitting on anything in those series. For now I'm ignoring some of the series I only have on paper and just enjoying the kindle. I figure some of those stacks of actual books are waiting for my retirement.

In 5 days we get a new Eve Dallas!!!!!!! I don't have any of those that haven't been read. And I probably won't be able to resist diving right in.

I'm taking Jack to the vet this morning. He's due for rabies and since that's a legal requirement I'm pretty careful about it. NO CLUE how he ended up in February when all my other guys are in the fall. Since he has no teeth he couldn't bite anybody but it's a legal requirement and I take no chances.

I lost a pound last week. There is absolutely no logical reason I couldn't get to a normal BMI this year.

What do you feed Jack since he has no teeth? I tried an Eve Dallas a few years ago and couldn’t get into it. It was the set in the future part that was strange to me. I really enjoyed the Decker book. That’s my favorite Baldacci series. I wonder if a new Virgil Flowers book is in the pipeline? I think a new Michael Connolly book is due. I think it’s a combo Bosch and Renee book. I forget the character’s last name.

I love the Eve Dallas series, too. It’s one of the few that I’m willing to pay full price for and pre-order so I can read it as soon as it’s released. I know I’ve read every one of the books in the series. I used to enjoy the Jack Reacher series but lost interest after Tom Cruise was cast as the lead character in the movies. It was just too much cognitive dissonance for me, lol! Another series I have loved is the Genevieve Lenard books by Estelle Ryan. I will also pay full price for those and pre-order them. The lead character is an extremely high-functioning autistic woman who investigates art thefts for an insurance company and through that becomes involved in anti-terrorism work with a very interesting cast of characters. I only wish the author would write faster because there is such a long gap between new books. However, there is a lot of research that goes into her books, so I understand why it takes awhile. If you decide to check her out, you really should start with the first book in the series and read them in order so that you can see the growth of all of the characters.

I forgot to add that yesterday was very nice here. Our high was 70 though it was a bit breezy. I met with several of my friends in the park for a couple of hours and it was very therapeutic. I think all of us needed some sunshine and a chance to get away from our DH’s for awhile, lol!

I’ll have to look into Genevieve Lenard books. That’s a new series to me. I still like Jack Reacher because I purposely avoided the Cruise movie. There’s no way a short guy like him could carry off a well over 6 foot, 250 pound man.

Jack's not the first toothless cat we've had. They eat whatever they want including dry cat food and dry crunchy treats. Of course there is plenty of wet food if they want it!

I do NOT like sci fi but the Eve Dallas books are only like 50 years in the future. To me, just enough different to be interesting without being totally out there. It's a world you can easily imagine the kids of today living in.

    Love this (from the Post):

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) says he is determined to prove “this Republican Party’s a very big tent.”

It must be. Where else could you hold the epic two-ring circus that has been going on within the House Republican caucus this week?

One of my worst ever "shoppers" this morning. Just gritting my teeth and wishing you could pick (or even just indicate "not this one every again"). She delivered 2 1/2 hours before she was supposed to? What if I hadn't been home (like yesterday)? Paid no attention to most of the other instructions in my order either.

I'm refusing to open all the newspaper articles coming out now about "what if this never ends". I need a little more pollyanna time.

Just finished cleaning the vegetables I've gotten this week so I'll be ready for my raw vegetable snacks this week. Have to keep my rotisserie chicken (my week's protein servings) away from DH. LOL! Told him if he wants one of his own add it to the shopping list he gives me each week.

Had a conference call this morning. Finished a Chewy order for one of our foster moms. Now I'm ready to get back to work.

If you actually see the shopper if she delivers again, explain to her why coming so early isn’t a plus. She probably thinks people would be thrilled to get their order early and doesn’t stop to think they may not be home. If she understands why it’s not a good idea, maybe she’ll pay more attention to the schedule.

The most annoying thing was that particular web site gives you two options: (1) it's okay to deliver my order early or (2) stick to my schedule. And I pick #2. Of course it also gives you the option to choose a substitute for each item or say no substitute for each item and she wasn't paying attention to that. Maybe she's new. But seems like there's little training.

Part of me thinks I should be setting aside many hours a day to search. Another part of me thinks "chill" - it'll likely be better in a couple months. (A third part of me thinks "why can't my retired DH who doesn't know what to get into be doing the searching". LOL!)

Someone on the next door little local bulletin board posted something about Rite Aid posting their vaccinations at midnight. Well, so far, all I've found on Rite Aid is a link to the Maryland government sign up site.

We're both really good with computers but neither of us keeps a cell phone turned on. I went to one hospital web site and mobile phone number was a required field. Do I make a plan to daily turn on a cell phone and charge it every evening, just in case that hospital calls, do I put our landline in that field?, or, again, do I just chill and wait a couple months to see what happens?

I got my second Moderna vaccination yesterday. So far, just some itching and small swelling at the injection site.

Maryanne, every state and even every city has their own criteria for how they are contacting people for appointments. In my area, they sent me an email, a text, and a phone call. I did read or see on the news last night (don’t remember which) that doses of vaccine will soon be available through local pharmacies, which should make it easier to access them. Also, once the J&J and AstraZenecca vaccines are approved, I think it will get a lot easier to get one. I think both of those may be single shots that don’t require the super cold refrigeration, which makes them ideal for distribution through the pharmacy network.

I’ve seen the same information about new vaccines owing in the pipeline soon. CVS, Walgreens and Walmart will be doing the vaccinations. They’re single shots and only need standard refrigeration. They’re not as effective as Pfizer and Moderna but they seem to keep people out of the hospital and reduce deaths. I’m guessing you must get a milder case if the vaccine doesn’t fully protect you. We’re on the state website for them to contact us. Trying to get on Publix’s site sounds very frustrating so I’m holding off on that. It may get easier as more people get vaccinated and I’d try then.

Maryanne, you might check to see if the vaccine is available through Johns Hopkins, since you are a patient of theirs. I know many people here have been able to get their vaccinations through some of our local hospital networks if they were already established patients of that hospital system.

Their web site literally says don't contact us, we'll contact you (through their "portal"). I kid you not!

I spent a couple hours today getting organized and signing up a few more places. Including Lifebridge Hospital System. Technically my internist's practice is part of that system.). That's the first place that has actually acknowledged my registration (with an email).

Found the web site for Rite Aid finally as well as Walgreen's. CVS just says "not yet in Maryland".

I also have the web sites for two grocery store chains - Giant and Safeway.

Between organizing that effort and finishing the organization of my diet food, I feel better.
