We get a lot of Super Bowl coverage since Tampa is only a few hours north of us. Attendance at the stadium is limited to about 30% capacity, masks required and lots of social distancing and hand sanitizer stations. What’s happening outside the stadium is a different story. People are gathering in bars and on the streets to celebrate and party. If this doesn’t cause a super spread, it will be a miracle. Some people don’t seem to remember the toll Thanksgiving and Christmas took. The sad part is it won’t affect just them. Lots of innocent people who stayed home will probably get sick from exposure to those who partied.

Morning! I am doing much better but I don't remember ever sleeping this much. Fri night:6-1/2 hrs; Sat afternoon 6 hrs and Sat night 7-1/2 hrs according to my gadget. Exhaustion is one of the side effects.
Still have slight headache and itching arm but the chills and extreme tiredness are gone. At least, Moderna is done. One interesting thing is that I have no desire to eat now. Haven't eaten since breakfast on Saturday.

Jean, sounds like you had a pretty severe reaction to your second dose! All of that rest was undoubtedly good for you, but I’m sorry you had a rough time with it. We are due for ours next Saturday, and I’m dreading it a little. I know not everyone gets the side effects, but enough do to make me a little concerned. I’ll get it anyway, but not looking forward to it.

I did have an odd side effect after the first dose, but it didn’t happen until more than a week after the shot was given. About 9 days later I noticed that just below the injection site my arm was red and itchy and felt like there was a hard knot there. It also felt warm to the touch. This lasted for about 4 days then went away. A couple of days ago I was reading a post in our local Nextdoor app and it mentioned “COVID arm”, so I googled it and the description was exactly what I had experienced. The articles I read about it said it was a rarely reported side effect but that it was suspected to be occurring with more frequency than they knew because people just aren’t reporting it to the official CDC website. A link was listed for making a report, so I followed the link and entered my information. And now the CDC is contacting me weekly to ask questions about my health. An unintended consequence of trying to help with research, lol!

Well, I'm glad you're doing better. If the vaccination turns out to be an appetite suppressant I see a market in the "after times". LOL!

Interesting. I imagine not a lot of people would think to report it. I'm glad to know the CDC is on top of it but sorry they're bugging you weekly!

I guess it's true that "you can't fix stupid". Heaven knows people KNOW what they should and shouldn't be doing.

I started the day with Wonderslim pancakes with 1/2 banana smushed in. If bananas become extinct my pancakes are going to miss them!

Food and spreadsheets are done for the week. I may make a substitution if I can come up with vegetable spaghetti. I do want to try either the NS or the Optavia turkey meatballs with marinara sauce (both of which I have here now) but I'm not going to use pasta. No luck with the noodles at the grocery store I ordered from Friday.

Yucky day outside here today. Rain then a little snow now switching back to rain. That's south of the Mason Dixon line for you.

Digging into CROM paperwork today. The mail is SO slow I'm still getting checks written in the first half of December that I'm sure people are wondering "where's my tax receipt?" I just hope the mail back to them goes more smoothly. It does seem to be picking up a little. My package that went to Guam is now at our local post office and almost every other really backlogged ebay package has come now.

Pam--I had the same reaction on the first one. I took Benadryl for ten days based upon doctor's advice. This time I was prepared and started taking it on the first day. All I can say about Moderna 2 is that many here have had reactions bad enough to cause possible problems if they had been driving, for example. Some had diarrhea in addition to the exhaustion. My suggestion is that since side effects vary don't plan any activities for the day after your shot.

Maryanne--I love "Math Hurts." The only thing I have left from Diet Direct is the pancake mix. If you want to try something good, the NS Rotini with meatballs is very good. I admire your dedication to the spreadsheet.

I do like that! I also ordered a few things Ii hadn't tried. E.g. I'm going to try mixing the granola with greek yogurt.

    From Reader's Digest:

After my mom quit smoking she gained 50 pounds. Concerned she asked her doctor "do you think I have an overactive thyroid?" "No", he said, "you have an overactive fork".

WTG, Maryanne! You will be at your goal soon, as you are so on track!!

I had my cardiology appointment yesterday for the possible upcoming knee surgery. I am not sure I want it, but the test results were great yesterday except for the weight.

I’m watching the impeachment hearing. All I can say is, the attorney leading off the defense seems utterly incompetent. So far his speech has rambled all over the place without making any relevant points that I can follow.

I'm trying to lose weight but it is slow and all this dreaded snow or ice in my future is leading to comfort eating.

I almost forgot about that (had my head in my law books all day). No way I could stomach watching it. Good for you!

DH had a chance to sign up for a vaccine this morning and didn't take it. You read that right. He signed up for updates from Walgreens and they emailed him about appointments. He says he's holding out for notification from his primary care doctors. By the time I got up folks had crashed their web site.

I told him if it happens again to wake me up! I also went onto Walgreen's and signed up for updates which I don't think I saw before.

I know every state is different, but here primary care doctors seem to be last on the list to get the vaccines for their patients. My doctor advised me to get it through whatever source I could rather than waiting for his office to get it. In fact, I haven’t heard of any medical practices getting it. The only sources around here are hospital systems, county health departments, and now CVS and Walgreens.

DH's internist is associated with a hospital that has an outpost near us. I also have doctors associated with that hospital but he's getting very different communications than I am. I give him that but I also read their communications as they are prioritizing patients with certain medical conditions.

Maryanne, did he say why he’s holding out for his PCP? He will likely get the same vaccine no matter where he gets it. I get that some locations are more convenient than others, but at this point it wouldn’t be my prime consideration.

It's because he's comfortable that he knows where it is. Once I was up and looking at where the Walgreen's in question were he realized both were fairly easily found but I still don't think he's ready to budge. He's putting too much faith in this hospital I think. I'll take it where/when I can get it!

I read this morning that some Walmart pharmacies are going to be giving it in various locations, so you might check that source as well.

I thought it was just me. What the heck did Nebraska have to do with anything? The Democrats were so compelling. I’m taping it today because I have a chiropractic appointment this afternoon.

This is the 5th straight day that my county is reporting as green on the state map. When I looked at the # of deaths so far in the state, the 2175 cumulative deaths in the state exceeds the cumulative death total for the whole country of Australia. It got its act together early and acted quickly to impose fines on those breaking regulations and curfews.

I see enough of the impeachment hearing on the regular news reports so do other things or watch other things.
