WASHINGTON (AP) — House lawmakers may have been exposed to someone testing positive for COVID-19 while they sheltered at an undisclosed location during the Capitol siege by a violent mob loyal to President Donald Trump.

The Capitol’s attending physician notified all lawmakers Sunday of the virus exposure and urged them to be tested. The infected individual was not named.

Dr. Brian Moynihan wrote that “many members of the House community were in protective isolation in the large room — some for several hours” on Wednesday. He said “individuals may have been exposed to another occupant with coronavirus infection.”

Dozens of lawmakers were whisked to the secure location after pro-Trump insurrectionists stormed the Capitol that day, breaking through barricades to roam the halls and offices and ransacking the building.

Some members of Congress huddled for hours in the large room, while others were there for a shorter period.

No further details were provided on which person has tested positive for the virus.

Can former presidents be impeached? Maybe

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/12/06/can-former-presidents-be-impeached/

    Why would you bother?

He couldn't ever run for office again.

Your state is very well organized getting the vaccine doses administered. Most reports I’ve seen for other states show a very low percentage of doses given. I saw a news report that NYC is going to some 24 hour vaccination centers.

Morning! I was up at 5am watching the local news. Since I live near the border, I get to start the day with not only the weather but also the covid-19 clinics that are scheduled and the criteria for those in WV, OH and KY close to me. I got 30 minutes of exercise in during this time.

Last evening my treadmill came on but immediately clicked off. I got DH on it today and apparently something just needed re-set. I'm SO not a tech wiz.

I have my packets laid out for today and my spreadsheet set up. Here's to staying on (my) plan!

I'm engrossed in researching a legal question so hopefully I'll be mostly too engrossed to eat (but obviously not too engrossed to make an occasional foray onto the internet).

I also have groceries coming today. Nothing "bad" though.

DH decided to email the governor's office. He says he'd be willing (if vaccinated) to volunteer to give the vaccine - and suspects there are many more like him - but apparently they won't take anyone who isn't CPR certified.

(You know if they are trying to give people the warm fuzzies about the vaccine, not sure that requirement is helping any. LOL!)

I'm not sure he's thought this through. He'd probably have to go to one of the hospitals and most of them are not somewhere he'd be comfortable driving to. At least I don't think so. He tends to stay pretty closes to home.

Broadening the base for those who can give out the vaccines makes sense. They could give CPR clinics for volunteers or have automatic defibrillators available. Many public buildings have them so how hard would it be have some available at vaccination centers.

Or as DH says have one CPR certified person on site.

They have changed the website that gives all the info . We now have 13,469 who have received both doses. The governor was interviewed on First on CNBC regarding the state's vaccination program that has made it #1 in nation. He, as a Trump family friend, also made a statement about the mess in DC and it was appropriate.

I never knew you should stop taking pain killers a day or two before a flu shot and now also before the COVID vaccine? Just one article so I probably should research more but in my case what could it hurt to stop?

The concern is probably about bleeding because ibuprofen and aspirin have blood thinning properties. Whenever I donate blood, they ask how recently I took a Painkiller or aspirin. If the timing is too close, I can’t donate.

    Q. Should I take Tylenol or Motrin before my vaccination?
    A. If you regularly take aspirin, acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol) and ibuprofen (e.g., Motrin, Advil) for other medical conditions, continue to do so as directed by your physician or as needed. Otherwise, do not pre-medicate.

Taking over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen before receiving a vaccine may reduce its ability to work and blunt your immune response to the vaccine. After the vaccination, don’t hesitate to take an over-the-counter medication if you have symptoms that make you uncomfortable.

Jean - what a strangely worded answer from that system. Sounds like if I can live without the painkiller (and I certainly can) I should stop before a flu or COVID vaccination.

Wow, the post office has issues. I got a package today that was sitting in Orlando since early December. No tracking shown before it appeared in my mail box. I've got over a dozen packages stalled en route to me, most mailed in the first half of December.

I've been driving my mail to the outside box at the actual post office in hopes of more of it arriving. Today I couldn't get it in the box because the box was full to overflowing. When I realized that and pulled it back out I got some other people's mail with it (which of course I put back). Someone's BGE payment fluttered to the road (which of course I got out of my van to chase down).

I hope Biden can get rid of Louis DeJoy ASAP. The Postal Service had it problems but he has managed to make the whole system a train wreck. His only qualifications as Postmaster General was writing Trump a big check.

DH has fixed my treadmill so I have no excuses.

I remember visiting DC during the Obama administration and having to go through security and wait to be assigned to a group for the Capitol tour. We were instructed to stay with our group at all times and told we were not allowed to go off on our own at all. It was an interesting tour and a beautiful building. I hate that there was so much damage done to it and how it was so disrespected by these so-called “patriots”.

It’s many years since I toured the Capitol. I remember statuary hall most clearly. I hope the rioters didn’t damage the statues. I didn’t see any reports on that area. They seemed to be more focused on the offices and Congressional chambers.

There's no question the first week of being back on "the Maryanne plan" is some water weight but that doesn't mean it's not a boost/encouragement. 3.5 pounds.

My initial goal is to get back to where I was in September. Then we'll see if I can kick it to the finish line (normal BMI). Of course like many older woman I've shrunk a little. I haven't changed my height on this because I'm not sure if my heart can handle changing the goal line at this point.

This says it all in such a dramatic way. He’s like the small child who says it wasn’t me, and points the finger at someone else. He’s a disgrace.

Maryanne--Congrats upon the loss. With your determination, you will make your goal.

I likely will be having my right knee replaced in a few months. I want to time it just after school is over so I can be recovered (hopefully) by time to take a Fall trip if Covid permits.

The Gov is speaking now, and as always he starts by listing those who have died by age and county but does not give name.

They have changed the website again to give the number of vaccinations, included those who have completed both.
