Thrilled with finally seeing the scale go down.7 -
I can't get over how many Capricorns we have in this team - I may be missing some, but @ells_runs @eggfreak @DD265 and me. Happy BDs all! I will also plan to have no cake, unless I can give most of it away to my son. It will have to be a cake he likes! We do have an amazing gluten free upside down cake that I have been making from time to time (my husband has celiac disease) that might make an appearance, though. It is SO good, spicy, and not too sweet. And my husband will finish it fast!
!
Well, this Capricorn is going to test her self control and make a cake. It's really just because I want to make this cake, my birthday is only the excuse. An Almond/Marzipan cake...mmmmm....I'll calculate the calories with MFP and give away most of it.

Evening Friends!
All this talk of birthday cake! Well I'm not ashamed to declare that on my birthday I shall make a cake and other than a generous slice for my hubby - I'll be eating it all!
Today's been good - an intense 12 minute tabata workout followed by a considered yoga practice (thank you, Adriene!) That's been my workout schedule this week. It makes a huge difference doing the more intense stuff before doing the yoga!
Work for the rest of the day has been smooth and uneventful - happy days!
Yesterday I attended a funeral online - my dear friend lost her mother just before Christmas, and I was quite close to her, so I was chuffed to get a virtual invitation to the funeral. I found the 90 minutes spent in quiet contemplation was valuable, in spite of the strange methods that are necessary in the current climate. Still feel that I paid my respects.
We're having an Indian takeaway tonight and I'm really looking forward to it. Haven't had a takeaway for ages!
Enjoy your evening, friends!
Y x
PS @Gidgitgoescrazy thanks for taking us with you on your journey for your new job - I feel almost as excited as you must be feeling!

Oh dear. You said TWO magic words - almond and marzipan. You might have to send me that recipe...3 -

I had some technical issues starting out, so havent introduced myself yet. My name is Terra - I am married and have 2 teenagers. I love being outdoors and staying active, but have been doing very little of both lately. Time to get back to it! I'm trying to find a better balance for family/work/me/other.... This seems like a very encouraging group - I'm glad I was able to join.
@jugar - I'm also a Capricorn. My husband was smart and only got me a slice of cake for my birthday and didn't make a whole cake like he's done in the past. So glad he did - we both know I have no self control when it comes to cake. I also have little self control when comes to complaining about having no cake self control. 😜
@sarkrisd - I'm also from a small town in Nebraska! Waaaayyyy west side almost in Wyoming - in the Scottsbluff area. Where are you located?
Have a great day!4 -
I have been feeling hungry going to bed the last few days and I realized what's happening. I don't feel full eating four small meals of 200, 600, 500, 500 calories each but three big meals of 200, 600 and 1000 cals each seems to to help with satiety. Glad I figured this out because it was bothering me.
Oh and I am a Capricorn too4 -

Thanks for your update - and the interesting information about a virtual funeral. I am sure this is going to become more common, and will likely last past the pandemic so that people who cannot travel will still be able to "be" there. It is often difficult to bring everyone together for many reasons, and this gives an option that still allows for respect and consideration. I hope your Indian takeaway was great!
@offitgoes good one! Keep on the momentum, now - have a green month!

I have no idea what that is either.
@DD265 Wishing you a wonderful birthday.
@Steph1498 Good to see you checking in.
@Gidgitgoescrazy and @Kali225 Ohh fun!! Trying on new clothes. I forget what that feels like. The only thing I have bought attire-wise during this whole pandemic was a new pair of sneakers. 😂
Didn’t get many steps today or log (yet). Was over at my daughter’s helping. She has a bad neck shoulder. Possibly a pinched nerve. I think it’s stress. I rubbed her shoulders. Could feel tight spots and bumps that eased up after I massaged it. Anyway, spent the whole day over there. Lots of tv watching of the impeachment. Oh well. Oh, I did do some Pilates this morning. So there’s that.
Good night. 😴4 -
Hello everyone!
@happimess01 I also like to have a bigger dinner and I like to have my carbs later in the day too. @jugar I agree, 5 small meals is a no go as well! Feels like I only got to eat snacks and missed all the meals.
@tschwery Glad you finally made it here! I was just wondering how you were managing the technical issues.
I am not a Capricorn 😄 Hope you all have wonderful birthdays and birthday treats!
We had crazy wind storm last night and school was canceled today. We spent some time looking for the roof to our summer chicken coop. Then we realized it was upside-down 😮
Food wasn't the best today since food prep is a little more difficult without power. It wasn't horrible but I did get in to the sweets and my protein was minimal. I did an afternoon workout and an evening one too. I got some knitting done. Back to work tomorrow but I don't think we will get power back anytime soon. I hope I didn't mess up my weigh in for tomorrow 😬🤞7 -
@DD265 happy birthday!0

It was very busy at work. I almost always hit 10k+ at work unless I have tons of meetings, but 19k is a lot.. lol my hips hurt.
I will have to be off tomorrow and friday so my mom can care for my grandma. Thankfully my boss was okay with it.5 -
@jugar @conleywoods I like looking forward to that one big, decadent meal at the end of the day. I think this is why Intermittent fasting is so popular, eating a lot in a small window of time. Some research says it's very effective when it comes to prolonged calorie restriction.

Happy Thursday y’all!!!
Tomorrow is my weigh in day 🤞🏻 that I don’t totally bomb it today... I have stepped on the scale a time or two this week and so far am liking what I’m seeing.. I have been pretty on point this week as far as food goes I have had a couple days where MFP shows me over in calories but I do NOT enter my workouts calories so that offsets it.. I have not stuck to my goal as far as the sweets go this month but I have done better.. in stead of cakes and ice cream I have been having a mini candy bar or a Rolo maybe 1 or two nights a week which has really helped my sweet craving AND it’s less than 70 calories. I have also logged each and every little sweet to keep myself accountable...
on another note my treadmill that I have not even had a year is broke (our fault.. when we moved we packed boxes on top and one of the boxes broke the screen) however the company is sending us out a whole new top half at no cost to us!! new monitor and keys and what not I’m super excited about that because they definitely didn’t have to seen how it was my fault!! So as soon as that gets here I’ll be back to running.. right now it’s been very minimal due to the weather.
Ok well that’s all I got for now.. Happy Thursday F2F Friends!!!5 -

I don't know what happened. I thought my eating was on point and I'm certainly getting enough steps.
My sister advises that I'm not eating enough calories and sent me a link explaining what that means - have stalled my metabolism. I think I need to rethink my goals and my methods. Take some inspiration from @KellyBgetsfit and see what changes I can make to my composition rather than lose more weight. Oh yuck, I think that means finally picking up those freeweights and turn my attention to shaping what I've got. Also, at 52, to build a better base of muscle, to forestall muscle loss as I age. I'll think some more today but maybe jump back to the goal zone in February- and try to figure it all out without necessarily counting on the scale for results.7 -
Happy Thursday ! So I did a 30 min video, although I will admit, I did it half-assed my lower back is flared up really bad.. I swear getting older is not fun, But it's also better, when this used to happen I would lay around and do nothing... Now I know that the only thing that makes it feel better is to just keep moving.. So I will take my meds, do a couple of walks, and then do my hiit and Yoga tonight..
Anyway, yesterday was okay, after I closed my diary, I had two buckeyes... I actually snuck them while the hubby was in the shower... really made me feel like a loser... But it's over, I did it.... I don't know why I felt as thought I had to hide it, he doesn't judge or say anything.... sigh.... anyway, new day....
Have a great one !7 -
Good morning and happy Thursday! I hope you are all doing well. I did a 20 minute Pilates workout this morning. (It was actually 2 ten minute ones.). If you've never done Pilates, it is amazing how 10 minutes on a consistent basis can really make a difference.
I don't think I ever ended up logging yesterday. But, yesterday is past and today I will! My daughter and granddaughter will be over later. Daughter is still at less than 100% with her shoulder pain and needs our assistance in hugs and floor time. I'm always up for that with that sweet girl.@jugar

You will bounce back. I know it. You have done so so well. You definitely don't want to eat too few calories. We know that doesn't really work. As to the strength-building, I am right there with you at needing to build strength. I know Pilates does build strength somewhat, but I probably need to pick up those handweights I have. I'm not looking to enter a Mrs. America Body Builder Competition, just keeping those bones strong as I age. 56 and officially hit menopause means I really need to take good care of myself. I do feel better and stronger and healthier than I did when my kids were little. But, when those hormones decide to essentially shut down, it IS noticeable. Sylvia, it you find anything interesting, please share. I may tap into my bestie who is a trainer, about a modest weight routine. She lives up near you in Foxboro.
Well, need to go get myself some food/protein. Have a great day!!4 -
Oh, right! I looked it up and agree...that's not likely unless I fall down in that position and can't get back up!
@jugar my day-late weigh in was: 187.5
Apparently, my post holiday is catching up to what others were doing when my number was decreasing. Sheesh!3 -
Shhhhh. I'm here procrastinating, don't tell anyone. I have a big letter of support for someone's grant application to write, and...
OK. I'll be quick! Just sending hugs to those who have sneaked a tiny bit, or put on a tiny bit - just don't let it get big and it will be fine! Hugs flying all around to everyone.
Do I have to go write that thing now?

@happimess and @jugar the meme game is on point, love both of those
I don't think I checked in at all yesterday? This week is rough. I woke up today already feeling totally exhausted. Work was frustrating. I spilled water on my desk while I was about to start a power yoga class (luckily didn't hit anything electronic! just some post-its and the desk itself), and it was just one of those "ugh and now this" moments. And it doesn't help that in theory, my firm is closed on Monday for MLK day in the US and people keep signing off emails with "enjoy the long weekend!" - my team always has to work MLK day because it's just such a rush of time. Too much to do. I will at least try to not work a full 8-10 hours.
HOWEVER, with all that glum and complaining out of the way, I will say - this is very much a time when I would be turning to snack food and a binge in the past. But I have a nice, big salad planned for dinner tonight and maybe the stress is affecting my appetite as well because I don't even feel that hungry? I just finished said yoga class so I should be starved. And it's just nice to realize maybe my brain is finally making some new patterns.
It's also nice to think about my bed. Waiting for me. Comfy and full of pillows.6 -

Happy Thursday all 😃
Not so good day for me today 😥
I was good and healthy all day but by the end of an evening I gave in and had some wine 🍷 I really must stop drinking in this lockdown. In my normal working day I drive from 8.30am so I never drink on school night.
Since our lockdown in Wales, UK I drink far too much because I don't have to drive in the morning. I did have this problem last year and I did manage to stop, so here's hoping I'll do it again 🙂
So tomorrow is day 1 again 😃
Never give up, right?
Have a lovely Friday all 💕6 -
I had a good chuckle with this one - hope you do, too!
