GREAT JOB EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!4 -
@lelbarou so sorry that physio is not easing your pain. Hop that you can find a solution.
@littleflutterby Congratulations on dropping below 300 while successfully taking midterms!
@363days I will look into morning papers.
@lindamtuck2018 glad you are able to take short walks again. Hope the pool opens soon and you can enjoy it. I remember what it was like before I lost feeling in my lower legs and feet and it was like electrical shocks or being hit with a ball bat. No fun for you. I found that wearing medical compression hose lessened the pain for me.
@azkunk that sounds like a good plan to enjoy wine in moderation.
Today we are 25 below freezing and not projected to get above zero for another few days. So looking forward to above 0 weather.1 -

Hey everyone! I'm backkkkk!
I was definitely overwhelmed, heading for a nervous breakdown, and going in and out of SVT continuously so I had to take a step back from literally everything and put the pieces back together. I lowered my workload giving myself 2 days a week off. I also cut back my days at the hospital so I'll be working more at the surgery center than the hospital at least until I get back to normal and no more episodes of SVT.
I have gained soooooo much weight that it is embarrassing. However, I am more motivated than ever to not only lose weight, but to get in the best shape ever. I bought this smart scale and it tells me EVERYTHING! So it has me with new goals and has really painted a picture of what my health looks like and what I need to do to get where I want to be so here goes...
SW: 249.8
Goal for next week:
*Lose 8 pounds
*Drink more water (start eliminating sodas)
*Strength training x 3
I can't really do a step goal this go around as my Fitbit took a poop. Literally charged to 100% and then just wouldn't turn on again after that. I have a birthday coming up so hopefully, I can get that replaced sooner than later. However, my boyfriend is ordering us a Tonal and I am SUPER EXCITED about that. I have a lot of things in store but I am getting it all started and will fill you guys in as soon as I get it done.
Hope everyone has been kicking butt as always! Can't wait to catch up with everyone again!

7,743 steps today
Plus 60 minutes on stationery bike
The weather was 19 today - a heat wave! I shoveled more snow today too. Will this winter ever end? We got 11 more inches of snow today.

Congrats to all who hit their step goals! If you haven't signed up for the step challenge, you might want to consider it:) If I don't get all my steps in for the day, I've been known to walk around my house at night to get them in:) When I do that, it is usually the time I would be sitting on the sofa watching TV, so it's extra movement and all because of the step challenge:)
@jimboden3
Very nice loss! I know you must feel really good about that:)
@draby2011
Glad to see that you're back. Sounds like you have made some positive changes that will help you be successful and healthy.
@azkunk
Thank you. I see lots of green checks on your post:)
@28Haveitall2020
Super loss!
@littleflutterby
Congrats on getting to the 2s and doing it while taking midterms!
@lindamtuck2018
You are going to love, love, love when that pool finally opens. So sorry that the February blahs are hitting you:( It is so hard to have pain, especially foot pain, when you're trying to get exercise in.
@Beautyofdreams
Aqua fit sounds great! I hope you do not believe the things your mother tells you. I hope you know your worth. Are you finding ways to empower yourself with this situation?
@lelbarou
Dealing with nerve pain must be so hard. My mom has nerve pain in her feet, and I see how hard it is for her.
@Tazaria87
Wii is so fun and good exercise!
Congrats to @z10rtza, @lelbarou, and @Bluetail6 on your fantastic losses this week and being #1,2,3!

@beautyofdreams
Oh my. I’m sorry to hear your mom puts that kind of pressure on you. I think the fact you are aware she is not supportive, is a good thing. If I can make a suggestion? Think about why she’s saying or behaving that way. Is it to do with you, or is it more to do with her?? My gut tells me this is a ‘her’ issue, and not a ‘you’ issue. When she says those things, remember it’s a ‘her’ problem. On the topic of being lonely if you moved out, I can tell you from experience whenever I’ve someone (friends or family), when I’m on my own, I ALWAYS experience a period of loneliness, but eventually it’s replaced with contentment and even enjoyment of my alone time. I find when I live alone, I engage my friends and family MORE than when I lived with them. But, when I need to, I can retreat to my peace whenever I want!
@Z10Rtza
Wow, awesome job on your steps!! That’s so good!!
@littleflutterby
Congrats on reaching the 200s!!!!! Such an inspiration for me.

So I'm on vacation right now. I've done a little bit everyday, which makes me feel good. Today I did laundry (still not done, LOL), ran some errands, make two recipes to freeze portions for lunches/dinners later on, and attended my virtual Zumba class tonight. I'm feeling good.

I didn't sit down and set specific goals for this week. I did make a list of things I'd like to do, so I think the list will be good to stop me from sitting and doing nothing. I did have to work OT this past Sat, and probably have to cancel my vacation day on Thursday, and I have to work OT this coming Sat and the Sat after. I'm focusing on how nice my paycheque will be, and trying to organize my life well enough that the additional work won't have too negative of an impact on my diet and exercise.2 -

I can convert your snow shoveling into steps if you tell me for how long and if it was heavy,moderately or light1 -

Welcome back1 -
@draby2011 - welcome back. I’m glad you are thanking steps to get healthy. I know you’ve must have seen lots of SVT over the years but when it’s you on the other side of the monitor, it becomes a wake up call. That scale seems cool, who makes it?
@lcfa5317 - shoveling is a workout too!
@iradi8 - I just walked around my bedroom to get 600+ steps before bed to meet my goal
@heatherbluebell - sounds like vacation is off to a productive start ... enjoy your time off

@draby2011 - I just looked up tonal and now I’m jealous3
-
My plan is to check in later today. I have an Ophthalmologist appointment first thing in the morning. Night1
-
Daily check in Feb. 16
Loggin yes - (over again - eek! )
Exercise - only stretching and core
steps - My fit bit is acting up - but I don't think I had significant steps regardless....
Well - I'm doing so-so. I have my physio in about an 1.5 hours.
I'm doing my rehab exercies twice a day - modified bridges, crunches and cobra pose.
I think it's helping, but the process is slow. I think I will have to do this everyday to maintain my back and core from now on.
So, I had my second teaching class with my new permanent part-time teaching job.
I'm going to have a real challenge! LOL
Some people cannot speak at all. Others can speak fairly well. YIKES!
But I am creative and I've done all the levels before, so I know I can do it.
One lady couldn't understand much, but she stayed after class and was blowing me kisses goodbye? Ha Ha. I guess she liked the class! LOL
Anyway, I've also been eating over for a few days.
Maybe stress or feeling a bit down or both.
I'm trying to train my mind to think more positive thoughts.
I hope to get back on track today with my logging on or under calories! YEP!
My weight is starting to go up and not down! Uh oh!
Have a super day everyone!4 -

Yeah it is definitely scary. I actually told my friends at work that the worst part about being a nurse is that we know too much. Lol I could barely breathe through words yet refused to check in as a patient because I knew what they'd do lol. The scale was like $20 on amazon and is from a company called Etekcity.4 -
Steps 2/16 16,940
2/15 13,574
3/14 14,4433 -
@draby2011 I'm so glad you are back and I'm sure a million of us are thinking "you have nothing to be embarrassed about"! I get what you mean, though. The Tonal sounds totally unbelievable! I had to look it up, I hadn't hear of it. I just got one of those scales, too, and it is nice to have other things to target, not just the weight. What a great idea to cut your work hours - that should take a lot of stress off your plate. It sounds like you know exactly what to do to get back on track.2
-
@azkunk
Great job on your goals. It has to feel good to see the scales moving down.
@Beautyofdreams
I haven’t had any luck with compression stockings but I will give them a try again.
@28Haveitall2020
Nice loss!
@draby2011
I am so glad to see you back. That had to been so scary for you. That tonal looks so amazing. I would be excited also. I have entered your starting weight as 249 and I have put you down for a Saturday weigh in.
@lcfa5317
You are certainly burning lots of calories shoveling snow. Stay warm!
@heatherbluebell
I think you are right about organization affecting our weight loss. I have started making a daily task list to keep things on the right path.
2 -
@icfa5317 - I laughed at your heat wave and couldn't believe the snow you are getting! It is 13 here with a high predicted of 25. The challenge for our area is electricity. Our grid isn't used to this pull on it, and they are having scheduled shut offs during the day. So far I've kept electricity but I kinda walk on the tiptoes. I think I have to get out today...I'm getting cabin fever.
@lelbarou Are you teaching English as a 2nd language? I took the TEFL classes this summer, in case I didn't get my old job back, but then decided even if I didn't get it back, I didn't want to teach online. It looked too HARD! I admire you! Are you teaching through a certain web site? Very cool.
Regarding my way of eating this week - cake, ice cream, cool whip Oh, My!2 -
@lelbarou
Coming from someone who went totally off the rails due to stress, anxiety and low mood, it is important to find another outlet besides food. I let it snowball until it became my only way of dealing with all my emotions. I know you are starting to get busy with teaching but try to find something to keep your hands and mind busy. Somethings to consider are crocheting, knitting, putting together a puzzle or even paint your nails. Make a list of things you can do instead of eating and post where you can see it. Maybe even on your fridge.2 -
I'm headed to my couch for work. Yesterday I got so frustrated with some people I just wanted to "pinch their little heads off". I know it's me, not them. I share a lot of the emotions that @lelbarou is going through. I feel like I'm constantly having to pep myself up. I may have shared this before, but when Covid first started, my daughter and niece would come to my house and we would play games weekly, eating wonderful snacks!; when I went outside to walk, EVERYONE in my neighborhood was walking, there was a real sense of community. Now it seems people are used to it and these activities have stopped. I live alone, but I don't think it is just living alone that sometimes puts me in the dumps. I think it is more the situation, the "unknowing". Some of the women in my neighborhood started a weekly zoom meeting so that we can stay in touch. I had to miss yesterday but I am going to make it a point to call one person every day to keep a connection formed. This group REALLY helps me to feel like I am connected. For me, this is so much more than a weight loss support group - thanks everyone!5

@363days - Yes. I teach ESL. I have a TESL certificate as well as a M.Ed. I have taught for about 15 years for non-profits, colleges and the school board. Right now I am teaching at the continuing education ESL department at the Toronto District School Board. YEP! I have tried other jobs, but always come back to teach because it's my jam! It's not easy, but I imagine no job is...It's really just about really liking your job or hopefully even loving it! Otherwise, what's the point? Oh yes, rent and food! Ha Ha! And I get you about the eating. I'm trying to turn it around today. I just had a raspberry and protein powder smoothie! YUM. Have a great day! You are AWESOME!
2 -
@lindamtuck2018
Yes. I agree. Food can be a coping mechanism for me when I'm stressed or down and it's a double hit when I'm both. That's a good idea to make a list of distraction activities to do instead of eatting. I like coloring, reading and listening to music. So, that's three right there. Thanks for your suggestion Linda. You are right on target! I think we might be similar! YEP!1
