I worked TOO much today- my eyes burn from staring at the computer. I have to learn to walk away.
Tomorrow I go to my mom’s place to help her - probably no exercise. But it will be nice to be with her.
Just a reminder I do not have steps on 3/9 ..I apologize if I missed them0 -

@lindamtuck2018
I have had sleep issues for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, I remember wondering how my brother could just go to bed and go to sleep. I have never just gone to bed and fallen asleep.
As a kid and as an adult before I got married and lived alone, I went to sleep with the TV and ceiling fan on. I am hot-natured and sleep with a fan every night. My husband needs it dark and quiet; he is also colder than me and doesn't like the fan. So, I have a small fan on my nightstand and it only blows on me. Not as good as the ceiling fan:( Also, since my hubby can't sleep with the TV, it is off at night which keeps me from falling asleep. I have started listening to podcasts and now sleep with earbuds in. I wake up multiple times a night though.
I can't ever remember feeling rested in the morning when I wake up. I am always up late but still wake up early. My body will not sleep late! So I have been reading the suggestions as well.4 -
lindamtuck2018 wrote: »Question
I know I am not the only one who has sleep issues. What are somethings you do to improve your sleep? Is there anything you think you can change to improve sleep quality? I am interested to here from both those with sleep troubles and those who sleep like a baby.
Hi Linda. I thought your question was apropos because here it is 3:30am and I'm wide awake!
So I am in the sleep issues group, not the group who sleeps like a baby! LOL
One thing is that I have no problems at all falling asleep. That is easy for me or has been for a while, but I wake up in the middle of the night and think it's ready to get up at 3am! LOL
Firstly, this seems counter-intuitive but I have learned to put absolutely no pressure on myself or judge myself about my sleep patterns. I have very little stress related to my sleep issues because of this. I used to fear going to bed because I was worried I couldn't fall asleep and this just resulted in me not being able to sleep. I stopped thinking this way and I can sleep very quickly now. Like in 5 minutes. Why? I'm feeling relaxed about sleeping as a thing to do.
Even though I sleep strangely, I try to completely accept this about myself. Again, maybe counter-intuitive. You shouldn't accept something if you want it to change it, right? But when I just accept myself the way I am, I find my anxiety goes away. So, yes, I'm awake now, but I don't get upset or judge myself. I say, hey this is how I am...Some people have brown eyes, some blue, some sleep well, some don't. It's okay. I'm a complete and full person as I am.
But in the end we have to sleep and I recognize this. However, not putting pressure on myself and accepting myself and what I'm like seems to reduce my stress level and allow me to sleep more than I probably would otherwise. Also, nights when I'm up like tonight don't stress me because this is the way I am in the same way that I have brown eyes and that's cool. Yep.

@lindamtuck2018 - So sorry to hear you are getting Covid related headaches. Really, it is just a terrible, terrible virus! UGH! Along with my above advice about sleeping, I would echo Jim Boden's advice and not eat at night. If I'm hungry I eat cut up veggies. However, I also have a little bit of cottage cheese right before bed and this seems to help. You are doing more exercise such as your weight training, biking and walking! WTG! About your question, my classes are virtual because of Covid. I do work for TDSB, but I'm in the continuing education department so our policies are different than for the regular school system.
Thanks again to @azkunk , @Beautyofdreams , @Bluetail6 and @heatherbluebell for your good wishes regarding me feeling better again and not having Covid! Thank you!
@BeautyOofdreams - First of all, congratulations for reaching maintenance! Must be fun to go through your old clothes and to get rid of the old clothes. Also, I'm very sorry to hear about the situation with your big toe. I hope it heals quickly and without incident. I can understand your fear of regaining weight, but I would just take it one day at a time. You are doing great! Also, I congratulate you on going to therapy for various issues. I hope you find it useful.
@heatherbluebell - your yoga class sounds awesome! Sorry about your break up with your BF but it sounds like a good decision. That's okay that you are a late bloomer as far as romance is concerned. I have never dated much and frankly it isn't even on my radar...I'm just used to be alone and I'm okay with it! Yep. We are all unique and different and that's cool!
@Megan_smartiepants1970 - Sorry to hear about your low energy issues. I wonder if you could be anemic or vitamin deficient? I hope your lab work will reveal an answer! As far as your sketchers not working, I wonder if a specialty brand like new balance might be more effective. My chiropodist always recommends new balance for shoes and boots. You did get columbia boots which I know are sturdy. Maybe your feet need time to adjust to the new shoes. Again, my chiropodist stands by new balance, so maybe worth giving it a try?
@Red 1185 - Congrats on your recent loss! I don't think it is incredibly helpful of your doctor to say you have to work "even harder" now that you reached a plateau. A pleateau is called that for a reason. It means your body is taking a pause and adjusting. Just keep on doing what you are doing and be consistent and the weight will move again.
@Piqueaboo - Congrats for staying "on the wagon" with booze and food. I also can over-drink so I get you! There was both overeating and too much drinking in my family and genetically I am challenged by both. WTG. Nice job!
@Bluetail6 - You are so consistent with your losses! You are doing great! Also, thank you for sharing photos of the snow! WOW! That's a lot of snow! Love your deck and backyard! Lookst like you have a lot of nature and beautiful trees in your yard! Great view!3 -

Busy day cleaning and running errands. Had a few of my sons friends over and they ran wild. 4, 7 year olds were so loud and exhausting. Ordered them pizza for dinner which I had as well. We haven’t ordered pizza out in a very long time but felt guilty for indulging in that and crappy chicken fingers.3 -

@Tazaria87
Great finds at the thrift store! I think you should try on the 8’s as you maybe pleasantly surprised.
@azkunk
Your bbq sounds so nice. I can’t wait to see pictures. You got to get those calories in. Maybe you can try some new recipes.
@TheresaM787
Love it!
@lcfa5317
Great job on exercise and your food! Have a nice day with your Mom!
@Bluetail6
Lots of snow! Hou was your calorie burn from shoveling?
@cesse47
Nice loss!
@lelbarou
Two great check ins, well done!
@Megan_smartiepants1970
I agree with @azkunk in that you need to try a specialty store. When I started walking a lot I invested in a good pair of sneakers at a store that fitted you correctly. In fact the first pair bothered my feet and they fitted me for a new pair. That’s something you won’t get from a big box store. I think when you had this issue before the consensus was to get your shoes for walking fitted correctly at a speciality store. I promise it is worth the investment.
@heatherbluebell
I am glad you are having compassion for yourself. Seems like you are putting plans in place to set you up for a good week.

Quick check in. The binge monster came to visit last night. I am trying not to be too hard on myself as it has been awhile. Between stressing myself out about Sunday, not sleeping properly, headaches this week and my leg was hurting terribly last night it was a perfect storm. Today is a new day!
Have a great Saturday!

I am making an appt next week with my Podiatrist...Maybe he can order Orthotic shoes that my insurance will pay for6

@iradi8 I missed it! Congratulations on reaching onederland!!!! That’s awesome!!
@Bluetail6 Holy shitaki!!!! That’s a lot of snow!!! Gorgeous!!!! I love snow, and living in GA we never get a good snow, except once in a blue moon.
I think my last weigh-in was 164.4.
I got on the scale this morning, and it was 163.8. I’ll take it!
I ate my usual breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs and a piece of cheese, and I immediately was super full. That’s a good sign in my opinion!

The 41minute video was what was next on my list so I just turned it on and started. It kicked my butt a little haha. Not just because of the length, but it was more difficult too.
I'm a little surprised by my loss this week. Only due to the fact that I lost 3 pounds last week. I was assuming my loss this week would be minimal.
My one year anniversary of this weight loss journey is in 5 weeks. I've decided it would be kind of cool to hit 100 pounds lost in a year. I'm not going to make it a priority because I don't want to stress over it or be depressed if I don't get it, it would just be cool. That would mean losing 7.2lbs in 5 weeks, should be doable!
Tomorrow I have an appointment to get my hair done. I'm pretty excited! I haven't had my hair done in years and it needs it. My split ends and gray hairs are getting out of control.6 -
@red1185
Nice loss! It is great when we are satisfied after a meal and not looking for more.
@Tazaria87
Another great loss! It is a nice goal and yes it would be cool. I am glad you have a good attitude towards the goal.

Thank you for all of your responses. I now have to clean up a complete mess.... I was going to have a smoothie for a snack. I was distracted and started the blender w/o the top on securely.... Wow, fruit, protein powder, etc. everywhere. I even have to change clothes. Fruit and yogurt it is, when I get changed, Yikes. Blender blowups happen
Um. My calorie burn from snow shoveling is yet to come. I shoveled a little bit on the deck. The temp dropped to well below zero. Now it is around 19 degrees F. So I need to do more today. Husband did the driveway with the snow blower. I have to deal with the back deck/patio. All good. Now cat and dog want attention😉😉5 -
@Megan_smartiepants1970 glad that you are going to a podiatrist to be fitted for shoes. My podiatrist doesn't do shoe fittings but he referred me to 3 different places that did. The first place put me in shoes that were too big and too wide and then put an orthotic in the shoe to make it fit. I had foot ulcers constantly. The 2nd place did a much better job of fitting me but made the orthotic so thick I could barely get my foot in the shoe. The 3rd store was a running store and watched me walk and jog and stand before they fit me. They fit me with Saucony Triumphs and I have been purchasing them ever since. Make sure they see you walk and find out their return policies if what they provide you with doesn't work.
@lindamtuck2018 hugs! You have made it a long time without a binge. Be compassionate to yourself and hopefully you can get some sleep. I find if I don't sleep it's one of three things.1) I overate. Food is like rocket fuel. 2) I did not exercise that day. 3) I have something on my mind and need to make an action plan before I can even think of sleeping.
@Tazariaa87 that sounds like a fantastic goal and very doable for you. Enjoy your new wardrobe and hair cut. The way in which you have incorporated activity and calorie counting into your busy life is inspiring!
@azkunk will love to see your finished bbq grill! Are you researching recipes to make the best use of it?
@Bluetail6 hope that is the last snow before Spring! Your consistent weight losses are awesome!
@heatherbluebell so glad that you will have a long weekend to recover from work. Sometimes we grow in different directions in a relationship so while it is painful now you have a better idea of yourself and the type of person that you want in your life.
@piqueaboo congratulations on your weight loss. Enjoy your daily runs.
@red1185 congratulations on your weight loss. You are doing fine and the weight will come off in its own time as you build heathy habits. I went through a plateau between 180-170 where it took 3 months to see the scale move very much. Take your measurements and progress pictures monthly and you may find yourself pleasantly surprised.
@rlaskey2 Don't feel too guilty about pizza and chicken wings. Just come up with a plan for the next time and enjoy your family time.
@lelbarou the advice about acceptance sounds great. I do something similar for weight loss and focus my energies instead on logging, eating within calories and moving whether intentional exercise or shopping.
@iradi8 Hugs! Hope you can find some ways to fall asleep and get restful sleep.
Went to podiatrist Friday and left my cellphone there. He really doesn't want me walking for another week when I will return to be re-evaluated. But said short walks might be okay. Sent me to a home health store for silver foam to absorb the moisture and keep bacteria down. They ration this stuff out by the size of your wound. So cannot waste it and will have to get another order for it next week.
I am just on maintenance for this week. Will resume dieting since my GP would like me in the lower or middle range of the BMI chart. We will see if that stubborn belly and thigh fat reduces. Am getting impatient since I am getting so close to goal and the fluctuations obscure weight loss at the 0.5 lb/wk weight loss calories that I will go back to.

@Megan_smartiepants1970 my steps for today were as expected for the weekend: 3,000.
However, I also didn’t eat very much today (I just wasn’t hungry), so I’m ok with the minimal steps!2 -
Sorry I’m so late! I left for my ski trip and forgot to post. I was 206 👎 on Wednesday. Can I please skip next Wednesday since I’ll still be in Utah?2
-
@heatherbluebell - meal prepping is a great way to set you up for a successful week.
@lcfa5317 - enjoy your time with your mom
@Bluetail6 - you pictures remind me of exactly the reason I moved from the East Coast to the desert ... shoveling and the cold
@lindamtuck2018 , @lelbarou and @iradi8 - reading your issues with sleep makes me grateful that I don’t suffer with insomnia. Turning 50 has brought me the pleasure of night sweats though. Those are no fun but at least I know there is a biological reason for them and the will be an eventual end. I really empathize with you. I hope you all find a balance and some true rest.
@cesse47 - nice loss!
@rlaskey2 - I had pizza today too and tracked it. It put me a little over but it was worth it. I love pizza 🍕
@lindamtuck2018 - not getting calories is not my norm but I am getting bored. I bought a couple of new things at Costco today to mix it up. Protein has been my biggest challenge and I found the Fairlife Core Protein at Costco, so that should help. Sorry the binge monster came. I hope you had a better day and the headache went away. Great steps!
@Megan_smartiepants1970 - glad you made an appointment with the podiatrist. I hope you find a solution to keep you walking. Have you thought about an alternative exercise to give your feet a rest like cycling or swimming?
@red1185 - keep it up, you are doing great!
@garn76 - nice loss!
@Beautyofdreams - I will definitely post. They start on 3/22 and will take about 7 business days to complete. In the meantime, I have been Pinteresting. Losing about half a pound a week while closing in on your goal is the norm. I know it is frustrating but you have to accept that 2lb a week losses are no longer expected or good for you.2 -

Good day n Friday day but my weight was still up today. I’m not sure what’s going on. I have not been weighing everything. Maybe it’s time to buckle down on the tracking. Last week’s weigh in was one of those lucky low days. Maybe I should start posting my weekly avg weight like I do with the health coach. That is more accurate and less stressful.

Happy Sunday team!
I’m very late for this weeks check in. Sorry Linda. It’s been one of those weeks. I’m not happy at all this week. I haven’t workouts out since last Monday. I’ve had appointment and errands and many many excuses. My weight spokes this week to 199 and I’ve struggled to bring it back down. Sorry about this weeks weight gain team 😞
I WILL do better this week.

@Bluetail6 Those pictures are just lovely and the color of the sky is amazing.
@heatherbluebell I'm late in commenting, but congrats on making the move with the BF that was good for you and I TOTALLY get feeling rejected even though you are the one that initiated it. I feel that way, too!
@lelbarou what a wonderful way of accepting yourself and taking the stress off the issue. I could learn from this.
@Piqueaboo I have had times when I think it is so easy...and then times when I think "it can't be done". good job!
@Megan_smartiepants1970 I have found that I have to have ASICS or Reeboks - the kind with lots of cushion. With a walking shoe I also have to go up 1/2 size than what I usually wear, to prevent my toe from hitting the end of the shoe. Switching shoes helped, too. Yesterday I put on shoes that at the first of the day were so comfortable but by the end I had rubbed spots on my toes.
@iradi8 I hope some of these suggestions work for you! That must be so frustrating! I got ringing in the ears from wearing a head-set for so many years, so I shy away from earbuds for myself. Good luck with solving the issue.2
