HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Username
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you need a week off, a break, a change of weigh-in day - just ask your Captains here on your team chat page. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions and weigh in if you want to, but your weigh-ins will not be counted on the weekly tally. If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to ask if you are travelling, sick, or just needing some time off.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You need support to maintain, and you can help your teammates join you. You continue to weigh in every week, and if you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

Welcome to June!
This is our home for the month, where all of our triumphs and challenges take place. Please (re)introduce yourselves and set some goals and daily actions for the month. Focus on the small every day choices, and you will get where you want to go!
I am Liselyn, co-captain along with @micki48. I live in rural Québec, about 85 miles east of Montreal, and I'm a retired university professor of music. My weight loss story? After being somewhat overweight for most of my life, I really packed it on while in an admin job that involved a lot of sitting, meetings, travel, and meals. I tried many times to lose, but it was not until I was 58 that I got really serious with both food and exercise, and lost 40 pounds. I have been in a good zone for almost 9 years now, always refining and figuring out the things that work best, and making sure I don't have to do it all over again. Yes, it is possible to lose weight and get in shape during and after menopause!
I know there are people on this team who have a lot to lose, others who have lost a lot and are closing in on their goals, and some who might be working on losses that are stubbornly resisting. There is much wisdom here, and the most important lesson we learn from each other time and time again is that it is not a straight shot, there will be trials and errors, and sticking with it when it feels like you have fallen off yet again is the best thing you can do for yourself. Plateaus can be good, but going back the way you came is not!
Some helpful information/tools:
Posting your daily updates
We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...
Weighing in
Please try to weigh in on time! When you post, put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, please request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can request to move to the "Support Team" where you can still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.
The F2F Habit Tracker
If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try. You can see how your teammates are doing too The link is under "Announcements" on the main F2F page or go directly to:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YAXbeCOUYsrSNNxKKwbaDAfLOYBuyfHNmcuqcTKHzV0/edit?usp=sharing
So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals for June, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live, if you're willing to share that, and what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. Let the introductions roll!1 -
I’m Gary and I live in Florida. I’m down 40+ pounds since the end of December and this is my 3rd month in the group. I’ve been taking 4-6 Pilates classes per week, walking, and following a keto diet. After 19 years home with two kids my youngest is driving now and I’m using my new found time to take care of myself! Good luck to all!3
-
In January I changed my Coca Cola habit to a Diet Mountain Dew habit ..... zero calories but still not good for me! My goal in June is to eliminate the Diet Dew from my diet and replace it with water rather than some other flavored drink. I welcome any suggestions that may make this easier!! Thanks!2

Hello group. I have been missing, but will attempt to be better. Life has truly taken a turn. I just had my husband diagnosed with early onset alzheimer's. It is also the end of the school year with lots to do at work and lots of treats. I promised myself I will let all this sink in and settle down and will start getting healthy again June 1. I don't know how active I can be everyday in the group, but will attempt adding my weight and steps in on Saturdays. My weight today is 119.5. UGG such a big gain, but I am determined to get back down. Thank you for reaching out. I need to be healthy to care for my husband and 87 year old mother (who is actually in great shape).
Sunny7 -
@sunny9847 I am so sorry to hear of the news of your husband's diagnosis. I can't imagine the feeling but my heart goes out to you right now. I commend you for recommitting to health to be strong for your family. Glad to see you back and will be thinking of you.2
-
@gak71 For me, water is infinitely easier to drink when I carbonate it using a Sodastream... I know not everyone likes sparkling water so if you fall in that camp then this won't help, but I absolutely adore it and it's enough to elevate plain ol' water to exciting levels. I also sometimes add lemon or lime juice to flavor it.2

Hello all, my name is Ashley, and I live just north of Calgary, Alberta. My husband @bowens1973 is on this health journey with me and has recently joined the group. This is my third month with the group and I love the daily accountability.
After spending my childhood in every sport imaginable, I ate anything I wanted anytime I wanted and it made no difference. A move to Calgary when I was 13 disrupted the role of competitive sport in my life, and I slowly started to gain. I have always well understood the need for diet and exercise in maintaining my weight, but a love of food and lots of binge-type tendencies along with using food to cope (with either the good or bad) led to a lot of weight gain over the years. I can remember many periods in my life where I'd get accountable for a short window, lose some weight, and then let it all slide back (and then some).
The last few years have been full of eating and drinking everything I wanted. I spent some time mentally in the "body positive" space, determining that I just needed to accept myself where I was and that being overweight was my lot in life.
There have been a few catalysts for change, one being that @bowens1973 recently got a life changing hip replacement that he was waiting for and it now allows him to be much more active, so we are discovering a whole new element to our relationship now. Also, my Mom has been obese all her life as well, and even though she's still young (60), she is having so many health issues and I don't want that to be my same fate. Lastly, and this is the silliest but it's the truth, I had a very bad dream back in January that was bad enough that the second I woke up, I instantly logged back on to MFP and started the journey I'm on now.
Upon starting, I had 125 pounds to lose to hit the very top end of a healthy BMI. I am currently 47.8 pounds down and going strong. In June I will come out of my first diet break and my goal is to break into the 230's. The lack of social events and responsibility during COVID has given me the right environment to control my space, so I know as things re-open and I get back to travel, working from the office, and socializing, I will be confronted with a whole new set of challenges I'll have to deal with. However, I feel very changed mentally and inspired and for the first time in my life, I know I can do this. Thank you all for the support this group brings.. it means so much to me! Looking forward to another great month ahead.5 -
Hi All, I'm Amber and I'm also in the Calgary Alberta area.
I was always a fat kid, and it's partly because I (thought I was) extremely lazy and hate sports, and partly because I love chocolate more than anything. Turns out I had a severe anxiety disorder. All those things I thought I hated were just me being scared. Go figure. I actually love the gym, assuming it ever opens again.
Anyways I ended up around 290 pounds at one point. A crash course in calorie counting and volume eating desserts through MFP and Reddit has, 2 years later, lead me to my lowest ever adult weight of 161 pounds. I've lost a person!
June is not gonna be a strong month for me, folks. My anniversary is in 2 weeks and husband's birthday is right after. Due to my depression and struggles I've moved to a "maintenance weekends" model and I've become very lax in my counting.
That said, my goal is to lose *something.* Even to just drop under 161. That'll mean I'm doing OK.7 -

My goal in June is to eliminate the Diet Dew from my diet and replace it with water rather than some other flavored drink. I welcome any suggestions that may make this easier!! Thanks!
Oh man, can I relate. Soda Stream has worked for me to kick the habit. A bottle of Real Lemon and Real Lime juice and you've got all natural Sprite.2 -
Hi everybody!
My name is Brad and I live just north of Calgary, Alberta. I have lived in Alberta for 3 years, coming from the Toronto area.
My life has had some amazing changes over the course of the last few years starting with meeting and then marrying @ashleycarole86 who is my absolute best friend and inspiration. As Ash mentioned, I recently had a total hip replacement to correct an ailment that I've been dealing with for years. The surgery has given me a completely different life. A year ago I couldn't walk more than a kilometre, couldn't handle even a slight incline, was addicted to painkillers and was pretty miserable a lot of the time. Hip replacement is like a light switch, there's post surgery rehab and surgical pain but the gnawing debilitating pain is immediately gone.
My inspiration for weight loss comes in various forms. Firstly, I'm married to a beautiful woman 13 years younger and I want to keep up and have as many days together as possible. Secondly, I'm tired of feeling sluggish and lazy. Being overweight has sucked the zest out of me for long enough. Thirdly, I'm vain! To answer Brittany Spears question, "Yes, I want a hot body!". 😉
In terms of goals for June, I want to be in the 220's by July 1st. That will put me over 40lbs lost. I also want to learn how to be comfortable with the scale on the days that it "clearly hates me". I really struggle on days where I know I've stayed within my calorie allotment and exercised a lot and the scale sticks it to me and posts a gain. I had one day this week that I jumped up two pounds. The next day I was down more than a pound so it wasn't real, but I find those days very discouraging.
So grateful that you've taken me in. I need your collective support and wisdom. Know that we talk about your posts often.We cheer your successes loudly and we pause, think about you and send you positive energy when you're struggling. You each mean a lot to both Ash and I.

Hey everyone! I am Sam from Munich, Germany. I am 35 years old, work as an advertising creative and live with roommates. I have been on mfp since 2012 and with this group since the end of last year.
I have been fat forever, I think I was fat in my ultrasound pics too. Boredom eating is my kryptonite and it's ironic that the first time I have been successful at weight loss is at a time when I have been bored perpetually, thanks to the lockdown. I started at 361 lbs and I am 214 lbs as of last week. I plan to get down to 196 lbs in the next few months, after which, I will focus on body recomposition and try to get lean. It's going to be very difficult but I am feeling motivated.5 -
@happimess01 very motivating!! Looking forward to seeing you meet your next goal2

We just got groceries and... ITS BLACK CHERRY SEASON!!
I loooove black cherries they are the best fruit. Can only get them in spring though sadly.
We used to go camping in BC when I was a kid and we'd go down to the farmers' carts with $5 and walk away with literal buckets of fresh cherries and raspberries and just eat that all week. Berries and s'mores: the camp diet.6 -
I’m loving these intros and goals for June.
Hi everyone! 👋🏼I’m Michele from North Carolina by way of New Jersey. More of a Jersey girl than a southern gal. About about to be 57 😬 in a couple weeks. Been married to my husband 38 years. Mom of two grown kids, a daughter and son and Mom Mom to one beautiful granddaughter. ❤️
I’ve been with this team since January 2019. I am co-captain with @jugar however I feel like I should be first mate because she is so amazing and sometimes I get quite off track.
I am making it my goal this June to stay on track though. I lost pretty consistently the first 6-8 months I was on the team, then lost spits and spurts. But this past year, I kept telling myself I maintained. While that’s wishful thinking, I’ve actually put about 8 pounds back on during the pandemic from my fleeting low of 188. Clearly, my body has set point 196 ish because I have bounced around there for just about a year now.
I was a “religious” logger at first. Then, thought I didn’t need to log. Ha!! There are many skills I have learned, but continuing to lose while NOT logging is not one of them. So this June, I will be logging. Like it or not. It does hold you accountable. My goal is to be 185 by the end of the summer.
I will start by logging my food every day. I am lowering my daily steps based on my average lately. My daily goal will be 8,000/day. My average the past few months has been in the 7,000, so I want to set a realistic goal I can achieve, before I raise it back up where it was. I will do Pilates three days a week and do 2 thirty minute workouts. It’s a start being off track that I am. This is a “not”. I will not eat Ice cream every night in June. Although I shared some with my granddaughter today. 🤫
So glad you are all here. Having this wonderful team for support, ideas, motivation really does make a huge difference. Let’s do this!!!1 -
What a wonderful set of introductions this month. Seriously - this is an inspiring team full of heart and soul. I am blown away by your articulate look at where you are, what is happening, and how we can all move forward.
Some special moments for me -
@sunny9847
Welcome back. You have just gotten some really tough news, and it is an honour to be one of your supports as you work to stay healthy and strong during a time when that is becoming more important than you thought. You are so steady and committed when you need to do something - your family is lucky to have you with them, supporting them. And we will do our best to support you too.
@gak71
We are going to get after you about that Mountain Dew stuff. Bleah!!! I am also a sparkling water person, and I use a fire extinguisher with food-grade CO2 and a few old 2-litre bottles to make my own fizz from our well water. Costs a fraction of buying the stuff, uses no cartridges like soda stream, and tastes great. Add a splash of juice (or white wine!) and you're feeling downright posh and virtuous. You'll love it.
@happimess01
You're our greenest champion (most weeks with a loss since you joined) and it makes me smile that you have done so during a time when boredom eating has defeated so many. You are amazing!!
@ashleycarole86 and @bowens1973
I love your partnership and energy! I know that everyone on the team is going to benefit from your posts - already the moving from body acceptance to increasing fitness, and from pain-wracked hip to joy in movement is wonderful. My husband went from the dreaded pain to new life with 2 knee replacements and 1 shoulder so far - he is 3/4 bionic and leaves most everyone in the dust! He is 74 and never looking back.
@micki48
As always, you are the best co-captain and way more than a first mate. I love the way you experiment and learn even from the things that don't work. Good old Edison supposedly said "I have not failed 500 times. I have successfully discovered 500 ways that don't work". You certainly have not had to find 500 of the wrong turns, but knowing that logging is something you need to do (even if you don't need to like it) is now successful. Yes! I know you when you get this level of commitment - you ARE going to be down to where you want to be by Fall. I'll betcha.
Let's have a great month! @terytha - eating cherries with you Maybe while I'm in AB in June, you and Ashley and Brad and I can meet up somewhere between Calgary and Wainwright!3 -

Morning all! @bowens1973 and I can also definitely relate to the cherry love @Terytha ... we look forward to the season every year and can't get enough while they're here.
The other thing Brad has been obsessing over for real is watermelon. I've never eaten so much watermelon in my life... lol. It's one of those things I'd never buy myself cause it seems like trouble to prep (silly, I know)... but so love having it around and ready to eat.
It's a bright and sunny day here and I'm looking forward to lots of outdoor time! One of Brad's hobbies is charcoal BBQ and he does lots of grill projects in the summer. Nothing has changed about the yumminess of being able to enjoy this when he does except for mindfulness around portion size. I think he is doing ribs today which we've had before since starting this journey.. as the calorie count goes in you realize you can't eat a lot of them so you'd best savor the ones you do have.
Aside from that, going to soak up some reading time, maybe hit the lake for a bit... and we'll certainly walk. We brought out horseshoes and other games too and there's always more catch... definitely like to find creative ways to move our bodies.
Enjoy your Sunday all.2 -
This week's challenge is up! Give something up for the week and feel amazing.

June is a new month and the weather has finally turned here in Indiana so I feel I can get outside more! Also my son has made it through his final month of high school and all the graduation ceremonies and events are mostly over, so time to refocus efforts on myself instead of him.

hey everyone, I'm masoumeh 33, I won't be in weight challenge/any challenge for a while, because I've been so moody and a serial quitter and I don't show up once a while and go in a blue mood and may not be able to write down anything. So I may read your posts but won't write down replies regularly, and my only goal for this month is to be committed to using the June habit tracker.4

Hi Masoumeh - I am thinking you are the same person who used to have a different user name? If so, you are welcome to come here as much as you like, and post when you want. I will put you in the Support Team, so weigh-ins are optional. I see you are there in the habit tracker - that is great. I hope things go well for you.1 -

@ashleycarole86 thank you so much. The gyms are finally open here and working out has made me even disciplined when it comes to eating. I hope to cross onederland soon.
@jugar I hope to stay green for 2 more months after which I will start eating closer to maintenance. That will be a big adjustment, let's see3 -

Beautiful!! I'll bet you had a fabulous time. You look amazing!
There are still a few more steps to fill in for last week - @Steph1498 @micki48 @EvMakesChanges
Bring on the numbers!
We had a good month in May. The official results will be posted soon, I hope - but we were #2 for the month, with a very respectable total loss of 51.2 pounds. Our final week was not the greatest, but overall, it was a strong month.
Quick update on weigh-ins -

Hit the habit tracker if you have not done so already - set those June goals and keep tracking right through the end of the month! It seems to happen every month that most people stop tracking. Give it a try, no matter how many days are missed - and then calculate which things were positive and which kind of meh at the end of the month. It's all information, even if you aren't happy with it! Then you can adjust your goals to have better success.

OK enough number talk!2 -
@YinxFed You look amazing and so happy! What a beautiful family photo. Looks like a lovely day. And that outfit!!!!! Love it all.
I logged all my food. I made some adjustments to my goals and my calories went way up. I had my goals set at a pound and a half loss a week. THAT never happens. But now my calories are at 1900 before they were 1200. So I was always over my calories. Maybe I need to leave it at 1900 awhile and see what happens. I usually don’t go that high (when I log everything).
Also went for a walk and listened to a podcast. Saw a new bee hive someone put at the top of a tree that was partly cut down. Cool. 🐝
@jugar I will get my steps posted in a quick minute.2
