I had the perfect day I needed which meant skipping bread, pasta, and dessert at a school banquet for my son tonight. Once I stack a few perfect days together I usually find it easier to stay on track.2

Oh, for Pete’s sake! My post didn’t post. Grrr!
@jugar, I’ll weigh in on Thursday this week - sorry for delay. Steps have been lagging because of my Fitbit dying. I’ll get back in next month.
More soon!

My day was nearly perfect, but I resisted a lot of temptations so I'm very happy with it. Tomorrow I will intentionally exercise as well so I'm getting back on track. Hoping for a decent weigh in tomorrow, should be getting back closer to that first goal weight of 190.3

Hi everyone my name is Grace...I am a pharmacist and currently in the final year of my PhD. I live with my sister in Nottingham. Lockdown and everything that came with it took a toll on my weight by shifting my set point by around 10kg.

I have moved away from keto and I am trying to stabilize on calorie counting. I have also changed my scale. This week I am just going to be as consistent as possible and move more.4 -
Hi and happy June 1st! Today is my daughter's birthday so that is exciting. We had her party a few days ago up at the lake. We were supposed to be at the lake today but my youngest woke up with tummy trouble. By noon he was back to normal so maybe something he ate.
Today was good for food and calories. The food I struggle with the most would be chips of any kind. I have gotten into a bad cycle with them lately. Yesterday I had no chips and today just a portion for lunch. I will not be eliminating them but I need to find better balance. Trying to squeeze in more fruits and veggies instead of chips.
Today I did an hour on my pilates reformer. After dinner the whole family went for a short 30 minute hike on the logging roads behind our house. My poor old dog can't hear well and didn't hear the warning calls from a mother turkey. He got too close to her nest and she pounced on him. He didn't seem to care much and I wonder how often this happens to him 🤔. We have had lots of animal activity lately. A cougar trying to pull a deer he just caught through the woods. A big beautiful bull moose passing by. One side of our house is partially in the ground. Our living room windows are at ground level and at 5 am the sun shines on them and they have a mirror finish. The turkeys keep coming to the window and puffing up. Then they try and fight their reflection. Such a pain to have to wake up to them pecking the windows!4 -
@DD265 I don't do much of the meat cooking in our family so I don't have many marinades to mention but it sure does elevate a salad if you find the right ones. We use meal kits quite often and I'm always amazed at the flavors and techniques that they come up with that I'd never do myself. Some of the ways they get us to cook the meat are just so flavorful! I never seem to replicate any of that when I'm cooking without the kit though.. go figure:)
@PlaneMonkey definitely can appreciate how it's not as exciting to make and enjoy veggie dishes that your partner can't partake in but hopefully what it adds for you can be worth it
It's quite hot (for where we live) this week so I need to plan ahead to shift my outdoor walking to early or late in the day.4 -

@conleywoods I'm jealous of your animal encounters! I love nature/wildlife.
Today is a high risk day for my plan. Kirk is in surgery right now - I can phone in just over 3 hours to find out how it went and if he can come home today. I know he had the surgery last year and it went well, and we have an excellent vet, but I am still very worried. Worried = risk of comfort eating with zero portion control.
I've pre-tracked what I know I'm eating; bought a sandwich for lunch and have a recipe I really enjoy for tea. We've got well over a kg of chocolate in the house (and that's not entirely my fault!), so I don't need to panic buy any, we've plenty of crisps so same again. I find when I shop for snacks when I'm stressed, portion control goes out of the window, but if it's already in the house, it's easier to be rational and weigh it out.
I'm going to get some fresh air at lunch to help calm me - might sit in the garden rather than go for a walk though as I've already missed 2 hours of work today! - and I'll kick off the breathing app on my watch in a moment, then I need to try and focus on work.4 -
@DD265 I do hope Kirk gets better soon!
@conleywoods your house sounds amazing - so much wildlife on your doorstep!
I've just done a heart pounding workout - the Epic program that I'm following makes me feel humble (I'm not strong enough yet, @PlaneMonkey but working on it 💪)
But we're going out for lunch as a treat for my mum.
Have a good day, everyone!5 -

I knew last week was a huge drop and wouldn't stay, but ai am still disappointed. I know I did not make the best food choices this past weekend and I know that my workouts have been scarce, even my little 10 minute bursts I have been doing. This is causing my stress to rise and my sleep quality to diminish. BUT, today is my last day of the school year. It's technically tomorrow, but I have to go Las Vegas for funeral. Some of you may remember my Grandpa passed away in April 2020. He was 99 and it was NOT Covid related. I am excited to see all my family. 💕
I am looking forward to getting back on track with my eating and workouts when I return home. Have a great week.6 -

Back on track a bit, gonna work on keeping the momentum through the weekend for once. Lots of DIY planned, we've bought two new sanding tools and have plans to sand the old peeling stain off the lower deck in the evenings this week and then likely re-staining it on the weekend. We will have to watch the weather here too, because I believe it's supposed to reach 30C a few days coming up and that's pretty scorching for being outdoors for hours.
@DD265 thoughts with you and Kirk. It's great to voice your concerns over stress eating. You've got a solid plan in place to deal with it. Stay strong!
@KellyBgetsfit have a good reunion with the family. funerals are tough but after 99 years, that's more of a celebration of a life well lived!
@conleywoods Those Turkeys sound like they're a bit of a pain, but you have the potential here to become a YouTube sensation! set up a camera and catch those turkeys.... being Turkeys!

Happy Wednesday!
@conleywoods
Your turkey story cracks me up - we had a large flock hanging around a few years ago, and we had to stop washing the car and truck. Not only stop washing them, but actively making them as dusty and dull as possible. The male turkeys would stand in front of the door and gobble constantly, all puffed up and magnificent, to show that reflection who was boss. It drove us crazy - and the droppings situation was even worse! Luckily, the foxes helped them decide to move on. June is moose month here too - we usually see the young males wandering about looking kind of lost and confused after mom kicks them out when the new one is born. They are hilarious. They don't really know where to go yet, so they just walk up and down, browse a bit, stand around a lot, and leave gigantic footprints in any garden without a fence.
Some days I feel like those moose! Not sure what to do next. So, as my (sometimes) wise taller half says - when you don't know which thing to do, do anything. I'm off to do something - have a great day!2 -

So....admittedly I don't remember what my past weight was and my weight has been fluctuating a bit. My current weight is 222.3 - I think it's about a pound up from my past weight but unsure! June is a tough month, I take a lot of time off this month and it's also my birthday month so I expect I won't see a lot of loss but it's not going to stop me from at least being mostly responsible and up my activity a bit too

Update: they offered him the job and it comes with a 40% raise. I'm seriously gonna cry, I'm so proud of him.

You are spot on - and never worry about not knowing the previous weight, etc. As long as I get the current one and was on the ball last week, it is all there. Any time you want to look at the spreadsheet yourself to see how well you have been doing, the link is on the Fat 2 Fit home page.
Have a great month with realistic expectations, mostly responsible days, and lots of fun!3 -
For once I got all of my hoped for check marks in the habit tracker done before noon!! I am feeling pretty good about today.
I bought some cherries yesterday after being inspired by @Terytha and others. They are the most tasteless, uninspiring cherries I have ever had the misfortune to put into my mouth. Like many fruits in the big grocery stores, they look lovely but have no flavour. Bleah. I did have fun passing them on, though. I put a few of them outside on the ground to see if there would be any takers. It is a beautiful day, so after some hard sweaty work, I was sitting outside with a cold beverage, reading. Along came my fave local raccoon, nicknamed Slo-Mo. It gave me a lot of entertainment eating those danged cherries. At first, it tried to get the pits out, holding each one, trying to get the cherry off the pit, putting it all back in its mouth, making ridiculous faces chewing with its mouth open and the snout sticking straight up. Then it wandered back to the sunflower seeds the squirrels had buried. It came back to the cherries a bit later and just ate them whole, pit and all! Glad someone liked them.3 -
Congrats to your husband @Terytha .... great news!
@jugar Cute story with the raccoon! We had a similar disappointment with a watermelon today.. Brad cut in and it was a lot of rind... more rind to fruit ratio than normal. Wasn't as sweet as the rest. It was still edible, but made us long for the juicier, sweet versions we've been mostly blessed with.5 -

So I've been searching this thread for more details about this "perfect day" stuff folks keep mentioning, but I can't find the original post about it. Would some please explain what it is, or share the original post with the explanation? Thanks much! 😀2

Thanks for asking, Rhonda. I guess I forget that not everyone has been subjected to my theory! I have found, through umpteen cycles, that every time I get off track and start falling for those trigger foods, large portions in general, or just eating in ways I know are going to lead to weight gain and feeling lousy, every time that happens, it feels like it is impossible to stop. Luckily, it also seems like getting just one "perfect" day breaks the fear and hopeless feeling. That one day right on target for food and exercise makes it possible to keep going. It feels so good that all the hope and positivity that had been lost comes back, and somehow it is easier to stick to logging, exercising, weighing in, and feeling good again. So whenever someone on the team is in one of those stuck places, I suggest they try to get one perfect day in hopes that it works for other people too. One day on track, really strict, we can always do. It isn't a permanent solution, but it sure helps when things are feeling bad. When it leads to a good week and beyond, gradually there is a new normal. It might take a lot of experimenting to figure out what version of "perfect" works for each person, but I think the one day commitment helps make change feel possible. I'll never understand why it feels so hard to break the pattern of overconsumption, but getting back on track is never as hard has we think it is going to be. We just have to do that one day!5 -
@Terytha Congrats to your husband and what a great bump up in pay! Definitely eat cake 🎂 😋
@DD265 I hope your kitty did well with surgery
@jugar Raccoons sound much more interesting than turkeys! We don't see raccoons very often.

I found this great list of simple snack recipes and I wanted to share.
I still need to log for the day but I think I'm good or very close. Spent the day at the lake and did some swimming and kayaking. It is unseasonably warm and was 95 degrees F today next week it will be 68 degrees F. Big temperature swing. Loving the sun right now!4 -
@Terytha that's great news!
Thanks for all the good wishes for Kirk. He is home, and currently sleeping next to me on the desk. The surgery went well in so much as he's fine, but they couldn't find the object on the ultrasound - and they did a scan right before operating as well. They scanned again afterwards and nothing, so they have no idea where it went. They did find out that his bladder is badly (and chronically) inflamed, which is hard to tell from an ultrasound, so I guess we can do something about that now at least - a long course of steroids once he's over the surgery. Not having a stone does mean we can't get it tested so I feel like there are more questions than answers at this stage, but there's nothing we can do about that.
On the subject of the perfect day, I've had two where I've not eaten exercise calories and it does make it easier after that first one. What's particularly impressive is that one of them was yesterday, and I know I was extremely stressed (I came out in an itchy rash on my legs), so it would've been easy to comfort eat.
I've just got to get through today and tomorrow morning, then I have my week off work. I think it's come at the perfect time - particularly with a couple of days away - so that I can rest, de-stress and recharge. I've not decided how I'll manage calories when we're away but we've not figured out what we're doing on two of the days yet, so as we plan those I can plan food as well.4
