We get Onedrive pictures in our E-mail, Your Memories on this day. I think these two are pictures of our last big snow in Hickory, NC before we moved four years ago.

That giant tree is a magnolia with a beautiful cone shape. That bush in the front left is my favorite bush, a beautiful lilac colored flower on it. That's my Jake in the bottom picture!

Kim & Carole, did you guys get snow? A lot of my friends that live in the south have been sending pictures. I saw that Myrtle Beach has snow, Gulf Shores (7 inches), Mobile Alabama has quite a bit, New Orleans, and several areas of Georgia.

I'm in Atlanta - trying to get to New Orleans for work. It's not looking very promising

We got about six inches. Because our area has but one road in and out they plowed it very quickly, but our driveways are still filled with snow. I think that tomorrow it is supposed to start warming up. It'll be 36 today and then the 40's tomorrow and in the 50's by next Tuesday! Woohoo! Wade's been out playing in it, but I can hardly get around the house, there's no way I could get out in the snow, although, even if I were walking perfectly I doubt I would go out where it's COLD! Have I ever told you how much I hate being cold!? LOL!

I was able to get Medicare coverage for my leg wraps so I should be able to wear my wraps every day. They last about 6 months if you wear them every day, but, for me, they cost around $250 a pair. I will have to pay for the first pair to meet my deductible, but then I can order two more pair for free. Huge help. Most people only have one limb that is affected, I have both legs and more than likely both arms, but it's hard to tell with the lipedema, both make your limbs swell or grow bigger! The wraps also help with the lipedema. Praise the Lord!

Stay warm and safe. Hold Jesus closer than ever. Love you

This snow has pretty much battered the south! I'm glad that we didn't get more. We got subzero temps a few nights, but no more snow. It is supposed to warm up into the high 40s this weekend, so hope to see some of the ice in our yard melt. The snow is pretty much gone on the grass, but where the plowing was done, and the ice from the drive was thrown, it is going to melt about Memorial Day at this rate.

I have the plumber here now putting in a new hot water heater (mostly covered by home warrantee) and Bill's NP from Palliative care just left. It was a rather busy morning. I'm ready for a nap.....

Hello from New Orleans! It took me 2 days and several modes of transportation to get here. Commercial flight to Atlanta on Tuesday, and spent the night. Got on a private plane Wednesday afternoon with 4 other people; flew to Jackson, Mississippi, and spent the night. Drove 4 1/2 hours from Jackson to NOLA today in a Mercedes Benz sprinter van. (Same man owned both the private plane and van.)
    It's been interesting...

Oh wow! At least part of it sounds like it was in luxury. I don't see any snow where the plane landed, so that's a good thing. Any more steps?

Our main road is plowed and the trucks are still coming through to take care of any ice that may have formed overnight, but we need a little bit more warmth to get the snow down in the driveways. Ours is quite long so digging out isn't an option! Wade says he's measured anywhere from six to nine inches of snow in areas around the house. There is probably about seven inches on our front deck!

I've been moving my Christmas Cactus around, trying to keep it in the sun during the day and then into the hallway at night so it won't freeze in my office! I'm not too worried about my other succulents, but they are doing well so far. My Cactus is still blooming! Usually it blooms for a week and then quits, but it's been blooming since just before Christmas, and has some new buds on it right now! I used to do well with plants, but then, for some reason, everything died on me! LOL! I'm praising the Lord that this one is doing so well, it was Mom's for years!

Hope y'all have a great day! Love you.

That was before we took off - in Atlanta. The city had snow the day before, but most of it had melted by the time we left (I can see a little bit in the greenery at the lower right of the picture). And that van is in a portico... all the New Orleans snow is beyond that.

I very nearly killed my Christmas Cactus. I finally put one of those automatic watering things in it so it could draw what it needed.... but no flowers for me.

I keep mine outside until we start to get in the low 40's, upper 30's at night, then I bring it in and put it in front of a window that gets partial or filtered sun. I water it whenever the soil feels dry, usually about 1/2 C of water. I have no idea if I'm doing it right, but this plant seems to like this method. My succulents are also doing really well on the same regimen. Oh, I blow on them to give them carbon dioxide as well as chat with them a bit. :D

I hope that y'all are having a good weekend. Our snow is slowly melting too! Not much going on with me. I'm going to be working on a very old song we wrote in the 90's and a new one written just a few months ago. I wrote the words and a friend has done the music, so we are going to put them together this afternoon. I hope my voice stays strong! I have two or three notes in that F-A range that my voice just breaks on, it's really weird, and the old song (which we lowered) still has a few of those, so I'm going to have to fight those breaks. My high range is weak, but when we do hymns I usually sing the tenor an octave higher because it doesn't hurt my throat as much as the low range does. Just weird! Allergy throat is what my ENT doc called it.

I hope your weekend is extra special and restful. Love you

Flying home early tomorrow. I can't wait. I have a question... I thought maybe you could help, Connie, because I think I remember you are familiar with the hair salon industry. My hair is SO dry. It's fly-away and awful. I don't know if it's winter or aging - or a combination of the two. I was looking at different oils that I might add to my routine, but was wondering if you had any suggestions for what to use besides a good conditioner.

Cindy - I have been out of the industry for too long! I am going through the same thing and can't find what I used in the past. I am thinking that maybe a conditioner that might be used as a rinse out or leave in might be good. I have used Sally Beauty's Generic of Nexxus Humectress in the past and it worked well.

I have a friend that is selling beauty products and is seeing great results within the people that I know that have used them. Her name is Victoria Benner and selling Monat. I'm passing along her website:

I use Aussie Hair Insurance, it's a leave-in conditioner. My hair has been really dry too so I need to start using that again.

I completely forgot I had some Chi Silk Infusion at home. It's an oil that you can massage into damp hair before you dry it... to add moisture... and you only need a drop or two. My hair feels so much better today

Glad you had something at home to use, and it helped!

I had a day today! Bill's daughter was staying with him and I took my mom to the dentist. Bill was determined he was getting up and going to the bathroom and she called me frantic. Luckily they were done with mom so I wound up taking her home with me to get Bill to the bathroom and calmed down...and Terry calmed down, then had to take mom back home ... twice as far as it would have been from the dentist. Bill was agitated and really cranky with everyone. He finally calmed down and took a nap. Whew! Poor Terry!

Sorry you had a trying day, Connie. Glad you were able to get back in time to help. My prayers go out to you.

I'm headed back out of town... this time to Charlotte. Hopefully I won't have the same weather/travel issues I did trying to get to New Orleans last week.

I put a roast in the crock pot for Dave before I left. That should give him dinner for 3 nights.

Cindy - hope the travel goes well. Surely the weather will be better than the last trip! You might miss those private flights, though.

Poor Terry! I can relate. I had no idea that when I would finally have to take care of Mom it would mean doing everything for her. It was so helpful having Martha there (my pastor's wife) because she just did whatever needed to be done and chatted with Mom while doing it and acting like it was no big deal! What a great example she was for me! She became Mom's best friend after we moved here and Mom just adored her. Sometimes Mom and Martha would act like teenagers, whispering secrets to each other or being silly - such a wonderful thing to watch. The funniest thing I remember was one day when we were trying to get her back into her chair, we would have to basically pick her up and hoist her to the back so she could sit up straight. She told us to "stop manhandling me!" We all backed away and said, "Okay". About 15 seconds later she said, "Manhandle me!" We just cracked up!

Hurting quite a bit today after having about a week of mild pain. I'm so grateful to the Lord for that week, and even now when the pain worsens, He is near.

Bill walked 60 ft today! The PT said that he thought it would be okay for me to get him up and walking around the living room, but not 60 ft. without the wheelchair behind him. When they have him walking distances, they hold his gait belt and I follow with the wheel chair in case he gets weak or starts to wobble.

Woohoo, Bill! That's awesome. He's doing so well! High fives!

Getting ready to go into town and change our mobile phone provider. This should save us around $70 a month, at least for one year. Phew!

Pain is tolerable today, praise the Lord.

We changed our plan a few years ago. We were with Verizon, but couldn't get good coverage at Mom's when she lived in Missouri. She had one of our phones, and she had to walk outside and to the end of the drive to use it. Everyone there said the only company with good coverage was ATT, so I went with Consumer Cellular on ATT lines. We saved almost half. We still have 3 phones and still have quite a bit of data, that I could cut back since we don't travel anymore, but I just hate to cut right now. I really like Consumer Cellular because if there is an issue, you can talk to a person...and that person is in the US and you can understand them.

Wow, just that real person in the US would make it worth it! As it turns out we will also get a discount on our internet service since we are bundling and save an extra $20 a month! Yeehaw! God is good!

I love bargains! When we moved we had a chance for a bundle...free phone line and internet at a pretty good price. I spent over an hour on the phone getting things set up then they kept telling me that they had to send everything to the house BEFORE we would own the house...they wouldn't budge, so I told them to forget it. I called google fiber and got better internet set up in 10 minutes. It is a little more, but much faster and from everything I have heard about the other company and the problems I was having, it is worth the price.

We haven't had any options on internet until this past month, only Spectrum was out here in the "boonies" as Mom liked to call it! We thought about getting this new internet service through a company called Brightspeed, and it sounded like a good deal, but we would have had to keep our Verizon account. We decided to go this way because it would save us more in the long run. Several neighbors are getting the Brightspeed so we will see if it's any good, we may need to go that way if our bill gets really high after this offer period!

We had our choice between Spectrum and Google. I already outlined the issues we had with Spectrum's set up, so google is working well for us. I wasn't changing my cell phone company, just getting an extra line (free). I thought this would be nice to use like a landline...an extra phone in the house. I realized that I had a tablet with a phone chip in it (I used it when we traveled and at church), I didn't need the chip in the tablet, so I just put it in a phone that didn't hold charge well anymore. I just keep it plugged in and it works fine.
