What Have You Done Today That Is Healthy

I'm trying to make myself only weigh in once a week. Since drastically cutting sugar, my weight has been coming off a pound at a time - over the course of a week to ten days. And I know it shouldn't be, but seeing the same number on the scale every day is almost as discouraging as not losing.
I'm not counting calories at all, and with all the water I'm drinking, I'm really not hungry enough to do much snacking. And when I do snack, lately it's been a handful of almonds or an apple.
I had a slice of peanut butter toast with coffee this morning. I had a mani/pedi appointment (I get maybe four pedicures a year, but I can't remember the last manicure I had. I usually just do them myself.) Anyway, on my way home from that appointment, I treated myself to a medium latte - no sugar, just a little cinnamonon. Because I'm trying to be good about calcium absorption, I had one of my 3g of sugar Unreal dark chocolate/coconut bars with that latte. When I got home, I finished the rest of the cauliflower crust, white pizza (no sauce) with chicken that was in the fridge. Whatever I have for dinner will be accompanied by a salad. Meeting my friend, Beth, to walk at the park in about 90 minutes. We walked about 2 1/2 miles at the same park after church last Sunday. I'm looking forward to that. It's only 54 degrees today, but the sun is out, so it shouldn't feel too chilly.0 -
Wow, you are doing great, Cindy!

Thank you, Kim. I'm planning on redoing my bloodwork at the 3 month mark (mid November) and I'm really hoping my numbers are better (A1C, fasting insulin and cholesterol). None of them were what is considered high. But all of them were higher than they should be.
I'm back from the park. I think we walked a little further today - closer to 2 3/4 miles. With the walking around I did earlier, that puts me 8,615 steps today.

Wow, great steps today, even if it isn't at 10,000. I did house walk today and got around 300 extra steps. Will work at building it up and not hurting. My pain is a little bit better - praise the Lord.

Kim, after reading a great article that said 7,000 steps a day provides as much benefit as 10,000, I lowered my daily goal. So I definitely reached my goal yesterday.

I'm stuck, but yesterday I ate about a million calories, so don't expect much for a few days.
We had horrible wind, gloom, and mist all day yesterday. Today was colder and dense fog in the morning, but it cleared up and I actually got my walk.

I don't blame you, Cindy. If 7 is as productive as 10, then don't add that extra pressure. Although, while you are working you often get those 10,000 steps anyway!
I did do a house walk today, added a few more corners so didn't get quite as many steps as I wanted to. I did around 250-300 before my legs got wobbly.

You are so right, Kim!
Worked on yardwork with Dave earlier today. He was getting leaves out of the yard... I was scooping them out of the pool. That is hard on your back and arms. I know I burned some calories and will definitely feel it tomorrow.
Heading to my daughter's house for a couple of hours. She's making chili for dinner.
So far today I've had a slice of peanut butter toast and 2 cups of coffee, a small bowl of beef stew and a pumpkin mug cake. Today will end up light on vegetables... I'll have to make that up tomorrow.
Oh! I was another pound down on the scale the other day. That's 11 so far.

WooHoo. I did some "retail therapy" today and forgot to take my walk….I'm sure I got quite a few steps in during my shopping. Maybe I will do one of my videos tonight.
I made chili a couple of weeks ago and pulled the last bowl out of the freezer for dinner tonight. It tasted really good on a cool day. I have enough browned ground turkey in the freezer for another batch, or too much spaghetti sauce. I guess I could freeze that, too. Almost every time I cook, some goes in the freezer, or there is an extra meal in the fridge for the next night. That's kind of handy.

I hadn't made fried rice in a LONG time, but last night I made it with cauliflower rice (my norm) and it tasted soooo good. It made two large servings with nice low calorie counts, so last night's dinner and lunch today. High sodium, but that doesn't bother me.

That sounds delicious Connie. I was thinking about a salad to go with my salmon tonight, but maybe I'll try your cauliflower fried rice instead

Yesterday, one of my Church sisters told me about an all protein pizza crust she makes: a can of chicken, some mozzarella cheese and one egg. Mix it all up then pat it out like a pizza crust, put on your toppings and bake. She didn't say how long or at what temp, but I would think 350 for about 10 minutes or so. I thought of doing it in my chaffle maker and just add some pepperoni on top because the cheese is already in there.
I had some good steps, for me, yesterday walking back and forth to church. I'm sore this morning so will take it easy today and then work on house steps again tomorrow.
Cindy, you are doing great! Love your stick-to-itiveness!
Connie, shopping definitely counts!

Chaffles! Now there's something I haven't had in a while. I'll be in Miami Beach through the 8th. That sounds like a good thing to have for breakfast one day when I get back.
Thanks for the encouragement, Kim. Keep up the good work on your steps. Sore is a good thing - you know you're accomplishing something!
This time I brought apples and peanut butter, cheese sticks, 2 hardboiled eggs, celery and hummus, 1 tuna pouch and bread (for dinner tonight - the rest of the nights they'll provide dinner) and a couple of pouches of a new cereal I'm eating lately. It's from Seven Sundays… These are the two best flavors (Real Cocoa and Maple Sea Salt):

Wow, those cereals look good. I am toying with trying hummus again, I love that stuff! I started having migraines when I ate it, but it's been a few years, so maybe it will be safe again.
Phew, my weight went back down by two pounds. I'm planning on doing the chicken pizza crust for my mid-day meal (my big meal of the day, usually). House walking this afternoon! You're right Cindy, sore is good!

I had a healthy breakfast (hardboiled egg, a cheese stick and coffee), snack (a Cocoa for Coconuts TruBar protein bar - only 5g of added sugar), and lunch (chicken breast and one slice of buffalo mozzarella cheese)… but THEN I fell off the rails because they had homemade potato chips at lunch. I took a coffee cup of chips with me - and went back later for another cup of chips. They were so good.
I worked out in my room last night and will again tonight. Hopefully I didn't do too much damage. 😊

I used to get the Orange Cream TruBars, but they haven't made those in a couple of years. They didn't have the almond flour in them. All of their other bars have almond flour, chocolate, or strawberries in them. Boohoo! I even wrote to them and asked them to make a bar like the Orange Cream that I could eat, but I never heard back!
I did do some steps yesterday, around 400 house steps. I think I'm going to just do a walking in place today and see if that stirs up the pain in my back and right leg like the walking around actually does.
I tried the chicken pizza crust. It needs spices in the crust, very bland otherwise. If cooked in a pan (like we did) it needs to be small (no more than 6") and very thin, we had to use a second pan to turn out the crust into because we couldn't turn it over without it breaking apart. The oven is the best way to go. I used all of the crust mix in one crust, added pizza sauce, pepperoni and parmesan cheese on top and that made it really good, and very healthy.

I did very well yesterday with my walking and food after I fell off the diet big time on Tuesday. I went out for lunch with a friend and just cheated all day. Today I have basically just laid around all day. I didn't even put on make-up (that NEVER happens!). I didn't really know if it was asthma or if I was getting a cold. I took allergy meds that would help with both and diffused Theives oil, and started breathing easier, but just had no stamina. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day. I haven't hopped on the scale lately, but after Tuesday, I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty!

Oh, but those days are so nice! I'm sorry you had some breathing issues, praying it gets better quickly.
I am surprised, but I haven't had any breathing issues for most of this past year - praise the Lord for that. I think at the beginning of the year I had a couple of times where I had trouble catching my breath, but once summer came along, nothing! I have had some coughing - mostly dry coughs. I think when there is something to loosen up in my chest it is from my head congestion draining down into my chest. I am taking a natural product and found it works better than anything else I've tried. It's called Pressureze Nasal Mist. It's helped with both my ear congestion as well as my throat congestion (or sinus congestion draining constantly into my throat).
I was looking into whether or not acid reflux (which I've had for at least 50 years) could affect my vocal chords, especially with the aspirating issue I have. The AI answer - definitely in both cases. All the symptoms are there for nodules on my chords and the acid reflux can cause nodules and inflammation, but there can also be other damage that at some point can be reversed, but if not taken care of can cause unreversible damage. I'm going to talk to the gastroenterologist about it when I see her next week. I may need to go to an ENT though. If I rest my voice all week I can sing the hymns for Church (quietly), but by the evening service my voice is hoarse again and almost nothing will come out. I've had a problem with my voice for years now, so not so sure it's reversible except God performs a miracle; and I have absolutely no doubt that He can because nothing is impossible for Him!
Y'all keep up the good work. It's the weekend so I'll be slipping in some treats, but watching my step! Love you

I got a mile and a half in today, plus window washing. That was a huge workout with standing on the couch, maintaining balance and then the actual washing. Just got living room done. I will work on a few at a time.

I'm going to give outside walking a try when I get done here. It's nice and warm! Other than that it's a rest day so my body will be ready for worship tomorrow!
I got my walk in, such a gorgeous day, 720 steps, at least twice as many as I got the first time I walked.

I have been terrible about walking. It was really cold for a few days, then I just kind of was out of the habit. Several days I have done videos from "Grow Young Fitness" on YouTube. They have some fairly good, but easy ones for seniors. I miss all of the Sparkpeople videos.
Today I had to go to the bank, so I walked there (basically quicker than driving). When I got done, I decided to just go ahead and take my walk. It was beautiful, but here I was talking a mile and a half with my great big purse over my shoulder….at least it is basically empty except on church days.

I had gained a pound while I was in Miami, but I apparently lost it while I was in North Carolina, so I'm back on track.
Today I've had a slice of peanut butter toast with coffee for breakfast, chicken enchiladas and a latte for lunch (with a friend), and naked chicken tenders, a baked sweet potato and a small salad (red leaf lettuce, avocado and micro greens) for dinner. I'm on track with my water intake for the day (currently at 54 oz, but finishing 14 oz of water with dinner, and I'll have between 4 and 6 oz before bed with my magnesium.
I still have to do my stretching and a little workout, but want to rest up after dinner a bit.

My friend told me yesterday that jumping up an 8" step is even better for re-building bone mass than doing squat jumps - which I've been doing for a couple of months now. She said to try and do 3 sets of 10. So I tried to jump up my stairs yesterday (holding a small load of laundry no less). I had no idea how challenging that would be! I had to hold the hand rail with one hand and I was only able to do one full set and another 8 stairs (about 15 minutes later). I'll keep trying, but boy, was I winded!

Wow, what a challenge. I think I'd break my hip if I tried something like that! I can barely get my feet off the ground to get dressed! LOL! But, what a great start, that's pretty impressive, Cindy!
Connie, that walk was probably more productive due to carrying the extra weight. I think they do that with runners, put weights on ankles and wrists when they are practicing and then for the race, without the extra weight they can run faster! It also helps with strengthening.
Saw the GI doctor yesterday and started some new medications. Not sure one of them will be allowed with my insurance, it's hard to get covered, but I am going back on Nexium and Famotidine if the other med doesn't work with insurance. It's working quickly and well with the samples that she gave me though. Nice. I am going to have an upper endoscopy done next month to see how my esophagus looks because I do have the aspirating issues and at times I choke when drinking something, rarely when I eat solid food though. I do have a thickener for my water, so I need to just go ahead and put that in there every time. I'm okay with coffee because it's a little thicker due to the creamer. I see the eye doctor next week and definitely need some new glasses. I am squinting a lot and having trouble focusing at times, especially when I'm reading - maybe that's why I like listening to books! I do enlarge the print, but word still have a shadow so I have to move my page or my head until things line up.

Yesterday I ran around a lot and basically finished my Christmas shopping. I didn't "walk" but parked away from most of the businesses that I visited. Today, I went to see mom and then took my walk. The weather here has been so beautiful. I can't believe these 70º+ days in November.
I have been staying in my calorie range, but not really getting enough veggies. I am so used to Bill not being able to eat most veggies, that I forget to fix them for me. I haven't weighed in quite a while, but I'm not expecting any movement. I have been stuck so long that I am getting used to it.

A plateau is a beautiful place to live (I know, I lived on one), but not when you are trying to lose weight! Ugh! I feel for you. Good job choosing to park farther out.
I got a call from my PCNP and they had set up a time for my MRI to keep an eye on my pancreas, the same day I am having my endoscopy. Praise the Lord they had a spot the next day so I won't have to go a whole day without eating! I have to fast for both procedures, about six hours. The endoscopy is at 5 PM - who does that??? I'll have to have an early lunch and a late dinner! The next day it's in the morning, so no problem. I'm supposed to also have a lung CT scan before I see the pulmonologist again, but haven't heard from the. I see him mid-December. I've had several endoscopies, but she called this one a partial endoscopy so I thought it was just on my esophagus, but it's really from my throat to the beginning of my small intestine, just like the ones that I've already had! It also takes a look at my vocal chords, so I will send a note to my GI NP to see if she can ask them to look and see if there is acid damage there as well. Lots going on over the next month and a half! Tomorrow is my eye appt, then I'm good until December 5th when I see my PCNP again.
I haven't done very well with my eating. Well, my meals have been good, it's the stuff in between that's a problem. I've kind of lost heart a bit in trying to lose some weight, but I am trying to eat healthy, just adding a small amount of stuff not so good for me in there too.

Well, I weighed two days ago - still at 1.5 pounds to goal. This morning it said that I was exactly at goal. I am not trusting today! And, I am not stopping the diet just yet. I feel good eating this calorie range, so will keep trying to stay there….except the 2 Thanksgiving Dinners next week. Tuesday with Mom and Thanksgiving day with the girls.
