@Terytha we must be the same age, give or take a few months. I also got together with my husband at 17, and we'll hit 17 years together in April. I'm 34 in January, and he never lets me forget that for 3 months, he'll still be 33.
Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag. I could not stop eating - even had banana sandwiches about 9pm and we'd had a decent tea. However, I did have a NSV and get into a smaller pair of jeans, with a manageable muffin top. My current jeans are in the wash basket as they got muddy on Sunday's walk, and I didn't want to wear my lounge pants out. Today is going in a similar vein, so I got spicy chicken pasta out of the freezer for lunch in an attempt to fill me up a bit. Must be that time of the month - I may indulge my body and then start pulling back tomorrow onwards, as from memory I'm only usually starving for a couple of days.
I saw my trainer this morning and we did a warm up (inc some foam roller, not my favourite way to start the day!), then some time on the rower where I beat my previous wattage score, then he worked on my left leg. I almost swore at him, it was so uncomfortable - seemed to be the IT band and ligaments attached to it that were worst - and I'm feeling a bit beat up down that leg now. We know it was an aggravation rather than injury from C's assessment, so I'll already be on the mend at least.
It's almost lunch time and I'll go out for a walk, as I have another parcel to send, then I plan to walk/run tomorrow, walk (and/or physio if necessary) on Thursday and then walk/run again Friday. If I keep moving I've a better chance of all going well on Saturday. Not hugely looking forward to it, I think because my pace is so slow, and I know I'll be freezing afterwards but there's no option for a shower. With it being at a theme park, there'll be plenty of waiting around, so I'm going to pack lots of layers to change in to, and hope I can get a bit of privacy when I get changed in the car park lol.5 -

Still dealing with back issues. Definitely put a serious cramp in my walking.7 -
Tuesday Weigh-In
CW: 212.8
Honestly could have been a lot worse, considering all the cake and leftovers I went through. Still somewhat nervous for the weekend away but THANK THE LORD - the weather forecast has shifted away from any rain on game day. Fingers crossed that holds because football in the rain in November - recipe for misery.
Unfortunately, I got my lady's time of the month yesterday and with it came a host of unusually-bad gastro symptoms. I wonder if I picked up a stomach bug of some sort as well? I felt terrible, slept poorly, trying to take it easy with food today and totally avoid dairy/heavy things. Despite that, however, I finally got my butt up with my alarm, out for a walk, and a nice 20 min yoga with Adriene this morning, for the first time in 1.5 weeks. The habit tracker was getting sick of my BS.
So fun to read all these 5 facts! Some interesting overlap in this group! Here's mine:
1. My full first name is Kalin, which my parents got from a wine bottle. (Kalin Cellars, Sonoma CA - maybe I'll visit one day!)
2. After graduating college with a business degree & a minor in Italian, I took an internship at a private outdoor art collection in Tuscany and got to live on a villa for 2+ months in Fall 2017. Truly one of those "if not now, when?!" scenarios and I can't wait to get back to Italy.
3. When I was in elementary school, anytime I was on a bus for a field trip or to/from home, I would sit in the back and tell ghost stories. Kids in my neighborhood referred to me as "Story Girl."
4. I think basil is the best smell and best herb in the world - if I ever get married, my bouquet will be mostly basil. And I will probably throw some of it onto my dinner, too.
5. I am considering a job change... I don't know what I really want to do, but I know what skills I excel at and this market seems quite hot for job-seekers. (I currently work for an investment management firm on the client service side).
Happy Tuesday pals.7 -
I'm trying to come up with my 5 things. These are just a random grab from the pile:
- I want to spend a year in the Arctic, especially to experience the dark winter. I used to want to live there, but I'll settle for a year.
- I have been to India 14 times, for work, but always fit in time for extras. I loved staying with people, finding odd little B&Bs, and I went horseback riding in all kinds of places (thanks to a retired Army Colonel!). My daughter came with me one time when she was 17 and we spent a week on horseback in the Thar Desert, riding 7 hours a day and sleeping in tents. It was magic. Then I had to go to work...
- I am completely deaf in my left ear since birth, and I am a musician.
- I love spiders and dislike chocolate. My mother thinks I have more birth defects than just my ear!
- I am terrified of home decorating and go into complete tailspins if I have to so much as choose paint. Furniture gives me the vapours, and I am currently in the process of choosing a sectional sofa. I may have a nervous breakdown soon.
14 times to India? Wow - I only remembered a handful of those. I guess I was in my own wee world for a few decades.
My five things:
1. I wanted to go to India with the meditation group leader years ago to help establish schools and outreach clinics for women.
2. I communicate with crows & ravens and they seem to congregate when I need them
3. I'd much rather hear about your issues than mine
4. Complex coloring books enthrall me and I can spend hours sans glasses (so I can see up close really well) to get things just right.
5. Goats make me laugh, especially when they've been "naughty" and cleverly tell on themselves whilst telling you all about it!
Have a lovely day!7 -
Learning so many fun things about everyone!!
I donated blood last night with a friend and just felt wiped so I had a fairly early night to bed. My lunchtime walk was cut short due to my boss going overtime in a meeting so my exercise stats were lower than planned.
11/8 exercise was 5120 steps, 24 minutes on the Peloton, and a 6 minute arm strength workout
@KellyBgetsfit Brad lived in Ontario (just outside Peterborough) and I lived in Calgary when we met. The fact we both lived in Canada is a miracle in itself as this game has people from around the world and it's a random match. So, that made our love story a lot easier.
We started talking at the end of Dec in 2017, Brad came to visit for just over a week in Feb 2018, and he moved to Calgary that April. It sounds absolutely wacky but we just "knew"... and needless to say the shine hasn't worn off over the years. We got married two years ago and life couldn't be better! Brad had never lived outside Ontario so it was a big move for him, but his career in health and safety is more adaptable than mine so financially it made more sense to be here.

Together, the nine of us walked a total of 627,398 steps this week – 297 miles. We haven’t had this many step participants on the team since I took this task on, so it’s very exciting. Let’s use our individual week 1s to set our targets for how we want the rest of the month to go.
@sljjjembeca If you want to be included in the consistency stats please provide me with a daily step target you’re aiming for (but not required if this isn’t something you want to target!)3 -
No Takeout November is on track (kind of a big deal). But my weight is still way up (I'm weighing in daily for November just to see how it fluctuates). I'm going to be stricter with my logging for the rest of the week to see if that helps stop evening munching. Gym time in November is going to be way down due to healing tattoos in awkward places so I really need the food to be on point.5

Happy Tuesday everyone. Nothing much to report from North Carolina today. My boyfriend did surprise me with a treadmill last night so hopefully I can get my step count up. My doctor still hasn't cleared me to go back to work so I'm pretty bummed about that. I need to go back before I lose my mind. Graduation is only 3 weeks away and the weekend after that my boyfriend is taking me to the casino to celebrate. I love that but that means a lot of drinks. We stay in the hotel attached to the casino so we don't have to leave and I will take food with me so eating should be good but Long Island Iced Teas might mess me up for weigh in that week. Gotta take time out to have some fun now and then.5

@ashleycarole86 and @happimess01 I do change my hair a lot. I have been sticking closer to my natural color lately because the up keep on the dark color is a lot of work!7

Well, Tuesday was a bit of a bust here! It seems my cold has morphed into something else just to keep entertaining me for longer - a sinus infection almost certainly, and possibly pharyngitis or bronchitis. I have not done much today at all - just walking around the house feels like I have just hiked up our hill in record time, so can I have a multiplier of around 150 for my steps today? Seeing the doc soon...
I'm hoping that all of you are having a spiffy day - tell me all about your wonderful exercise so I can enjoy it vicariously!
Good job on all the weigh-ins up through today - there is a lot of lovely green shining through there
And now it is time for the lovely Wednesday people to be ready to roll:
@AshenMoon
@KellyBgetsFit
@MoStacy
@PlaneMonkey
Thanks!2 -
I feel terrible for you @jugar ... you've been such a trooper and you've been patient but this must be getting frustrating for you.
Exercise was good today, got up at 5 (ugh) but I knew I had to in order to get what I wanted done. Did a 30 minute Peloton ride, and then walked to my Mom's and back before work (it's quick, less than 1 KM one way) to help her with a few things. Got out for a walk at lunch too, and that was a wrap on the day. Brad and I are doing a volunteer thing once a week or so, with tonight being the night for this week, so we are wiped! He is down doing his exercise now as he is not one to be up before work like me.
11/9 exercise:
8773 steps + 30 mins Peloton4 -

I spent 5 years (technically, I was pregnant one of those years) stuck between 148-152, and it was mostly the lower 150s, rarely the upper 140s. I logged and worked out then, too, but nothing moved that scale.I have been in the 140s since May. I honestly have NO IDEA what I am doing differently now, but it feels so good to watch that scale finally go down.5 -
@jugar I am so sorry. When I got sick in Sept, that was the sickest I had been in years. I hope the Dr. helps.
@ashleycarole86 you are killing that Pelton! I forgot to answer your question a few days ago. Yes, I have an elliptical. We got it nearly 12 years ago after baby 2. I used to go to the gym, but she was a preemie and I knew I wouldn't want to take her to the gym daycare. Its a fancy one where you can adjust resistance and incline. I used to use it a lot, now I tell myself, it is just 10 min! If I ever put 20 min, it means I got on there twice that day.3 -
Having a bit of a hard time being motivated, but I just began trying the lose it app to spice up food logging and such and that's helped a bit! I made sushi rice for the first time to have with homemade Poke (used marinated smoked salmon, edamame, cabbage, carrots, and radish) and it was amazing! I made a vegetarian version for lunch today with kimchi and other addons
@jugar My weight is...ugh...229.3 but I don't feel like I've gained THAT much weight so I'm hopeful that it's just water retention and such. Fingers crossed that I'll have a big loss next week!4 -
@jugar Sending hugs to you and hope you are on the mend soon. We are getting a dusting of snow just 500 feet above our altitude. Is snow creeping closer to you yet? You will need to be ready for all of the snow fun and games!
Yesterday I ate all the carbs and the scale showed that in the morning. Did a 30 minute ballet workout yesterday and today will be weights.2 -
Oh what a day it has been. Went to the gym for cardiac rehab and the first lap of warm-ups the room started spinning and I thought I was going to hit the floor. This is what happened when I had my cardiac arrest in June. I made it to the bench to sit down and started throwing up. They called for medical assistance and luckily no changes on my heart monitor and my b/p was fine. Then I threw up again bit instantly felt fine. A trip to the ER and it is GI related so I am thankful for that but no workout for me today. Hopefully back at it Friday morning. Gotta rest for a few days. So @jugar I know what you mean about feeling bad.5

Planemonkey CW 193.6. This was after a long night spent sitting in the hospital emergency department with my parents as my dad is finally being admitted for a full psychological assessment to correct his medications for his dementia. This loss is likely stress and dehydration induced, but I'm reporting the higher number I got rather than the one I saw on the scale 4 hours later after catching some much needed sleep. I'll do my best not to bounce back. They will be moving my Dad to the hospital down the block from my sister's apartment soon so access to heathier food while visiting him will be better.
I'm late to the game for the 5 things but it amazed me how many things I didn't realize I have in common with so many group members! @bowens1973 Where near Peterborough?!?!? I have family on Pigeon lake and in Bobcaygeon. I'm up there almost every year.
Here's my five:
- I broke my nose playing soccer two days before my 14th birthday and it didn't set properly so I spent my teenage years with a crooked nose that was the focus of all my self-consciousness. I had it fixed once I was an adult and now I will receive compliments on it from people who don't know I've "had work done" because the doctor did such a great job, but it's gotten to the point where I forget that it was even an issue, when during the teenaged years that it was crooked, it was the focus of my existence. It's amazing how we can fixate on one thing and then poof, it's over, and it's like it never happened.
- I got to fly to the Netherlands in the summer of '95 to participate in the "Peace Games" celebrating the 50th anniversary of D-Day. Our Midget B level girls team played the Dutch Women's national team and only lost by 2 goals. At the time there were only 7 hockey rinks in the entire country of the Netherlands and there were 21 indoor rinks in my city and 30 outdoor ones in Ontario Canada alone. We had to drive an hour from where we were staying to the rink each day, but the bus passed dozens of soccer fields on the way. It made me realize how much climate plays a roll in what kids have access to activity-wise around the world.
- I love to sing, although for me music will always be a peripheral, I don't like to just sit and listen to it. It is my constant background, except when I need to concentrate because it seems that every song lyric I have ever heard is rattling around in my brain so as soon as something is playing, I'm singing along. If you're not a fan of people singing in the car, do not go on a road trip with me!
- I worked for a charity for the Hard of Hearing when I was 17 and they filmed me along with my boyfriend and best friend in a party scene in a public service announcement to tell teenagers to turn down the music so they don't damage their hearing. It was aired for a year on Canadian channels and even came on during The Late Show and The Simpsons.
- I'm a nerd for numbers and I would memorize everything that would come my way. I still remember all my driver's licence numbers, student ID's, and credit card numbers from 20 years ago.

Ok I know change can be good but I'm feeling discombobulated by the newness of the forums today! Much more modern looking but everything new takes some getting used to.
@KellyBgetsfit That's so amazing to hear that the scale is finally budging below your old range - you must feel so happy about that!
@kdblpn Glad it turned out to be GI related and not the alternative - that must have been scary. Hope you can take it easy and feel better soon.
@AshenMoon Homemade poke always seems daunting to make at home so good for you. Such a tasty and fresh dish.
@PlaneMonkey Wow, you sure have had some very unique experiences for your 5 facts. Kinda wanna find your commercial on Youtube.. lol, between you and @micki48 being in a movie we are a group full of stars. @bowens1973 lived right on Pigeon on a lakefront home so what a small friggin' world!!! Such a beautiful spot.

@jugar feel better, that's an order.
Of all crazy days this one deserves a wine at the end of it but instead I went for the potato chips - they're all gone so no more temptation and I've got some garden jobs to finish up tomorrow on the Veterans day holiday day off work - so will choose not to have the wine. Was happily at work this morning when my mum's text 'where r u' came thru. I was utterly convinced that it was my sister taking her to the upper endoscopy appt....but I must have got mixed up somehow - anyhow, it was panic, hurry up get there and then wait for over an hour before she was brought in. Back to work for an hour or so then back to the hospital and bad news - a tumor needing biopsied. We'll have to wait to see what type/stage etc. Ugh, as I write this, that glass of wine is seeming like not such a bad idea...pretty sure I'll be in the green for weigh in tomorrow - have been very good with weighing and logging my food this past week.
4 -
@eggfreak ! I would not blame you for a glass of wine after a day like that - medical stuff with a parent is rough at the best of times, but with a time mix-up and some bad news, ouch. Hanging on to the green gets an extra round of applause!
I, too, am discombobulated by the new chat thread here - I like that it is bigger and easier to read, but it will take a bit of getting used to! There is a lot less on the screen, so the "out of sight out of mind" factor kicks in sooner. If anyone finds a way to adjust the size so more messages appear, let me know! On the other hand, being able to "save draft" is great.
I'm feeling a bit better today - still not up to my usual speed, but nothing as bad as yesterday. Hopefully it is all on its way out.
@PlaneMonkey you and your dad too - oof. I'm glad he'll be getting more help, though. Hang in there!
@AshenMoon Don't sweat the crazy weight increase - you are right that some of that has to be water, hormones, whatever. Go for that perfect day and see where it takes you. Make an experiment and see what happens. Hugs flying your way!
@kdblpn hope you're feeling better too ❤️
2 -
Okay, wow everything looks totally different and I couldn't get in here from the app. I had to go through the browser on my phone.
@eggfreak Sounds like a hard day! No one likes surprises like those. Sending hugs.
@PlaneMonkey So sorry to hear about your dad. I hope they figure out meds for him and he stabilizes for your family. This is something I learned in OT school and I wanted to pass on. Sometimes when elderly people have urinary track infections, it can show up as a dramatic change in cognitive function or behavior. It's not a bad idea to ask if the hospital checked for that, especially if he all of a sudden got worse for you guys.
@KellyBgetsfit Great job on the weigh in this week. Glad you are seeing changes.
@kdblpn Glad you are okay! So scary
I'm under calories today and I think I will move my weight lifting session for today to tomorrow since I have the day off.

I know some people are having troubles weighing in, or even just getting onto the group - let's hope it gets easier! In any case - heads up for the following!
2 -
@ashleycarole86 I’m with you. Very discombobulated by the new format. I couldn’t get to our group as easily. My star is gone. Ugh. I’m sure we will all figure it out.
Did my 16 minutes of Pilates first thing. Then my granddaughter arrived. We had breakfast then took her to a super cool playground for the rest of the morning. She had a blast. Nicest playground I’ve ever seen. After lunch, she fell asleep in about 5 minutes. Lol. Long day because my daughter did not get off work until 6:45pm. Met my step goal and all is logged. Water is off today. I haven’t had nearly enough. I’m sitting here dying of thirst. So stupid. I’m off to fill my cup now.
Take care!
3 -
Lots of hugs to all the group members dealing with parent issues - I feel for you for sure.
Quiet night here, a nice salmon dinner, a video call with Brad's mom... off tomorrow with it being the stat holiday but seems like it'll be an early night to bed regardless.
11/10 exercise -
45 minute Peloton ride (my longest consecutive ride yet!), 5 minute arm workout, 5994 steps
@micki48 It's funny about the water thing... I have that sometimes too, I'm so darn thirsty for a long while to the point of being uncomfortable and I finally think "you could fix that..."
I hate tracking water for some reason but if I don't then I can be so slack on it to that point. Alberta is so crazy dry in the winter that I can't afford to be falling short.
3 -
I hope everybody struggling with various things gets past them swiftly, virtual hugs to you all.
Not the biggest fan of the new forum format.. this much white space (it's on my monitor) is a bit much on the eyes. Will spend some time later trying to adjust the theme etc if that's possible.
I went for a run yesterday, walked a few sections as my left IT band was screaming, but it did ease off as I got going. Plenty of other niggles but there was some surprising speed in there too. I think these are symptoms of not running as regularly as I was. The weather is grey mostly grey here today, but it's not raining so I will go for a lunchtime walk in a few minutes, and am toying with running this evening just to keep moving.

Logging does work - I say weighing does too, just a little extra time to do it- I love my kitchen scale that hangs on the wall by the counter.
Thanks all for the kind words.

Five Things:
1) I have moved 18 times and have lived in 5 different states (career)
2) I make a mean lasagna (not good for weight loss 😊)
3) My husband and I met on Match.com 13 years ago
4) I lost 70 lbs 3 years ago, gained it all back. Getting back on the losing track has been rough
5) My husband was not very supportive last round, I have been mad at him ever since. Having a hard time shaking it off. (Other then this issue, he is a great guy).

Brad and I have to drop off car off to get the winter tires put on, and then we're going to drive into Calgary for a walk in different scenery. Lots of nice parks there we like so it's just a matter of picking one.
We have a couples massage later today, so that will be nice for our sore muscles :)
