Good Evening Everyone!
Today started out good the got rough for a bit. In the end it was a great day. Got lots of gifts. Clothes, Tim Hortons gift card, cash, Madagascar kartz wii game and more to come. Oh yeah also got bottle of wine and a chocolate bar. Tomorrow we are going to continue celebrating with a BBQ at our friends. The cards I got from my Son and Hubby were so wonderful.
Sounds like a wonderful Birthday! Glad it was a special day with the more to come also!3 -
Happy Birthday @CSEGUIN2! 🌈💥💫🎂
I'm catching up tonight on the news around the airport. Sorry to hear that some of us are having some health issues. Prayers for all those who are seeing doctors or finishing up appointments. And I regret that this isn't more personal. I've shot my wad today and am ready to crash into bed. The weeds keep getting bigger and I keep getting slower. Yet, grateful for everyday I'm outside or getting cottages ready for solitude seekers.
Have a great weekend ALL!

Practicing is beginning to pay off—blood sugars are trending dowards!4

Good Morning Airport Friends:
I hope the start to your weekend is going well. I have to go get my oil changed this morning. I am excited about getting it done. I for some reason like spending time taking care of my car. I think today I am going to take it to the car wash. Really make it look great. I love that. After the cleaning of the car I have to go get a Dolly and clean out my basement. I have some old appliances in the basement that no longer work. So they are going out to the trash. I need to get them out of my basement.
@CSEGUIN2 - Glad you had a good Birthday. It is nice getting gifts. I love getting cards from my kids
@NovemberGail - Getting into a cottage for some solitude sounds great. Sign me up. I need quiet, no responsibilities time.
@Marileighea - That is great. Love it when the blood sugars go down.
Well I have to start getting around to go get my oil changed. Then come back and clean out the basement. Have a good day.

Good Morning Airport friends:
Yesterday was a strenuous day for me. I took 2 washers and a dryer up from my basement. My path way down the stairs and to the basement is so small we have to carry them up the stairs and outside and then strap them to a dolly to get them to the curb. It was crazy. Then I did some work on my Pride stuff and then I did went and did some work for a delivery service called Shipt. I delivered someone's groceries. I use that to earn a little extra money on the side so I can have spending money.
Well I am off to get ready to return the dolly after getting a dresser up from the basement. Have a great day

Hi everyone,
I am sorry if this is the wrong place (I am new and excited to join) but when does the Challenge start? As well, are there rules or is the idea just to leave 5% of your weight? I have searched but haven't been able to find it anywhere and want to be prepared. Thanks for your help!3 -

@serenegrace14 - Hi we don't have a start date yet for the challenge but it will be announced on this team as soon as it is decided. The overall leaders (OALs) and team leaders need a bit of time to get teams set up and of course we want to make sure that everyone who wants to join has time to do that. You do need to look at the team feeds and either choose a team (one is already full but all the others have room) or if you aren't sure which team to pick, you can post you request for a team under "Any Team is Great" and you'll be placed on a team that has room. The idea absolutely is to work towards losing 5% of your start weight which you will post on your team on the first day of the challenge. At the end of each week of the challenge (it runs for eight weeks) you are required to post your weight again on you team Weigh In feed. There are a few other requirements - daily exercise which contributes point to your team to "land the plane" each week is expected and we also work on building healthy living habits (LTGL goals) which are things like tracking food, drinking water, using a smaller plate, stretching, just to name a few. The challenge is a friendly competition between the eight teams so earning points for your team is what helps your team to succeed. You will find support from other members on your team and are encouraged to participate in optional team activities when possible. You'll be invited to your team by the team leader when the teams are ready but usually about a week before the challenge begins. One of our OALs wrote a great blog about the challenge a while back so I'll try to find it an link it here for you. I hope that this helps answer some questions. It might seem a bit intimidating (I do remember that feeling) but really is isn't and it can be a lot of fun.
Sorry I can't locate the blog but I should also mention that all teams are private although this main challenge team is public.6 -
Happy Sunday, All!
The lilies are beginning to open. Each year is like welcoming old friends. For those in the heat wave, do your best to hydrate. I'm even thinking of turning my alarm on early so I can work outside before the heat goes up to 100. We'll see.

Good Morning Airport Friends:
I hope your weekend was a good one. I did a lot this weekend and I feel great about it. I am going to be doing more tonight and then I will continue to do more until the deed is done. I am cleaning out my basement and there is a lot to get done.
@bookieNJ - How exciting for the dance recital and then graduation. You have your hands full this week.
@NovemberGail - I was thinking the same thing. Make sure I can get a workout in while it is relatively still cool outside. Love the lillies. I have some outside in my yard too. They are beautiful.
Well it is time to get ready for work. I have a meeting this morning. Have a good day

I am moving this question that was asked on the Community here because I am sure it will get more responses as we do ask that questions be asked on the chat or directly to a leader. I appreciate all who have taken the time to respond to questions. For this one, please start your response with @kedwards1996

@kedwards1996 I'm likely not the best answer here, but, I make sure I get my healthy fats. That is the ONLY way I feel satisfied. In fact, when I went fat-free is when I gained a lot of weight and never felt satisfied. I know some of our members were exploring The Volumetrics Diet at one point. You may get some ideas from some of them.4
-
@kedwards1996 -Eating more protein will help you feel more satiated.3
-
Good day all, it is going to be a great day.3
-
@tabatha_cain -thx! In all our craziness this weekend, we didn’t realize we ran out of bread. Hard to make sandwiches3
-
@DNjoys -Thanks for posting that link!
@kedwards1966 - Protein and healthy fats (olive oil, nuts e.g.) (as others have suggested) help with satiety and I always prefer to have whole grain breads/pasta when I'm eating them. The other thing I might suggest is eating slowly and including as many water-rich foods as possible. That can help you to feel full and satisfied while eating fewer calories.5 -
@kedwards1996 , the only diet plan I have ever felt satisfied on was a sugar free, grain free diet that was high in healthy fats. I lost 45 pounds on it last year but have plateaued and bounced around within a 5 pound range for more than 5 months. So this weekend, I'm starting a new plan that is calorie based and low fat hoping to jump start the weight loss again. I will be closely watching sugar though as that can trigger hunger. I've noticed corn syrup especially, is quick to turn off my full signals and I eat constantly. So I am legalistic when it comes to avoiding corn syrup.
Since I haven't started the low fat plan yet, I can't critique it, but they say the key is eating 6 healthy mini meals a day. Eating a small amount of the right foods every 2-3 hours is supposed to keep blood sugar levels stabilized and hunger under control.5 -
Good morning, good to see the information about diets and what people are doing for their food management program. I prefer Olive oil to Canola oil and always cold pressed as the heat of the presses can rob the oil of nutrients we need. Avacodo oil can take a heat higher then olive oil, and does not change, add to the flavour of the food - I say this because some people do not like the taste of olive oil. There are some really good books out there too and over the years I have read many of them and taken this and that out of them that I implemented and still do today. Some of those include: Flat Belly diet - you know the one with the special water you make, Are you Hungry is another as well as Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat. Sam Graci of Greens+ also wrote a number of book with very good information in it such as The Power of Superfoods, The Food Connection, and others, and you can most likely get most of those at your local library. Now the only books I have is the Dash Diet, and a couple of cook books I rarely look at.
I hope everyone can find something that will work for them.

Good Evening Everyone!
Wow that was a lot of reading to catch-up on! Thanks for all the Birthday wishes! Had a great weekend partying and am sure the scale will still be very unhappy with me. But on the positive side I had over 20,000 steps each day.
Today has been a great busy day. Walk, neighbors lawn, some gardening, laundry and dishes done. Also played a couple games of Skipbo with Hubby. Hope to get a great night sleep.3
